I ordered a large ("14) pizza Friday night. It was ridiculously overpriced. I ordered meatball topping and the one pizza clams it coat $29.95!!! At first I was going to order two, but changed it to one. It was disgusting. The meatballs had no taste and we had two bone fragments in the meat. The cheese was rubbery and had not taste. There is nothing similar to a NYC pizza. That will be the last time we order food from Greggs. Wish I could give this place zero starts. read more

I was told this place was one of the best pizza joints around. You go in and order, they have some seats if you want to wait for your pizza, but they don't have places to sit and eat. We got pepperoni and they slice them differently and put the toppings on the bottom.... like Papa Johns Pizza. Pepperoni should be nice and crispy, not under the sauce soft. I didn't think the pizza was all that amazing. My boyfriend likes him I think he likes him because his parents had their first date here way back in the day. read more

I stooped there and ordered a small pepperoni pizza, and two large spaghettis and it all tasted awful! I wish Mike would have never sold both stores! I haven't ate there in years, and I found out today why I haven't, and will never eat there again! The spaghetti tasted horrible, and undercooked. I can tell Eddy has switched up the sauce on spaghetti, and ingredients. The pepperonis tasted awful too. Your customers are starting to realize the cheaper ingredients that both the Elizabethton Greg's, and JC Greg's have resorted to. One star will be given here due to lack of customer service. I tried to place an order over the phone and was met with a combative attitude when just placing a simple. It's unfortunate when the customer feels like they did something wrong she personally apologizes to the business to understand whatever the missed communication was. I love to support a local business and have loved Greg's since I was young. It has always been my family's favorite but in the last year it's been hard for me to order due to their poor customer service or lack of. I went out on a whim tonight because I really missed their meatball sub and my boyfriend loves the Greg special. Sadly I feel like this might be my last order I will be placing at Greg's in Johnson City. Good news Simm's Pizzeria is just down the road and I would highly recommend them instead. read more

Food is very good. High quality. The owners care about the customer, so their attention to detail is top notch. It's the oldest local pizzeria in town, so the restaurant has a "hometown" feel. Highly recommend Greg's if you want a "slice" of Johnson City history. read more

I'll start by saying that the food is good. But I did learn 2 things from the smart alec clerk. They website says they offer a side of spaghetti. I asked for that and she proceeded to tell me they only offered an order of spaghetti or an order of sauce. I said that means that a side of spaghetti has no spaghetti (admittedly a little smart on my part) I asked her to tell Greg so he could fix the online order. She then said "well Greg has been dead for so many years but I'll be glad to pass it on to him. This was not only disrespectful to me but also to the memory of Greg. I ordered a gluten free pizza and was given the wrong pizza. The pizza box had the wrong name on it, I didn't realize this until I got it home. It took over an hour to reach a manager, I wasn't offered a refund only a free replacement for future use. After, eating several slices I became extremely ill. This was obviously caused by cross contamination with gluten. I requested a refund the next business day. I wouldn't recommend Greg's to anyone with celiac or gluten intolerance and allergies. Greg's Pizza is my recollection of take home pizza from the earliest days of my youth. The Volunteer Parkway location was a landmark (lasting than the Long John Silver's to its north and the movie theater in the same complex). When I bite into Greg's combination of sauce, crust, and toppings (I'm a ground beef guy) it evokes a more simple time. There's a reason the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" exists, and Greg's has held on to that delightful recipe for great taste. There have been, over the years, attempts to replicate Greg's, and they've come close, but they haven't done it. I can't compliment their spaghetti, but I never pass up their pizza. I called an order at 7:15 pm on Saturday the 26th. The lady that took my order said it would be ready in 30 to 35 minutes. We went to pick up the order at 7:45 pm. We paid for the order, and the lady said it would just a few more minutes. 30 more minutes passed by, and nothing finally we asked how much longer? They said they could not find our order. How could they not find our order when they rung it up and we paid for it? It makes no sense. Needless to say, we asked for a refund and left without any food. Truly disappointed. read more

I have eaten pizzas from Greg's since its early days and have never had a bad pizza. I now live 2 hours away but still go to Greg's to get their pizza. I have 4 or 5 "pizza gatherings" each year and invitees will often cancel or postpone previous social engagements just to get the pizza. Having said that, I agree with some of the reviewers that the new management is pretty bad. The employees that prepare the food are friendly and seem to appreciate your business but the new owner/manger does not understand the concept of good customer service. I am assuming here but the guy who seems to be in charge always has a frown and is curt with his customers and employees. If I had not experienced the service from the previous owners which made Greg's special and enjoyed the pizza for many years, I would not go to Greg's because of the new management's attitude toward his customers and employees. The stars are for the pizza and the employees. The manager (owner?) with whom I have had interaction would not rate any stars unless he could be rated with negative stars. read more

This place came highly recommended by several locals. We tried it 3 times, and it just never tasted good to us. Sausages develop a certain taste when they have been in the fridge a little too long after being sliced, and every time, that is the exactly what Greg's Pizza has tasted like. I don't like leaving negative reviews for local restaurants and fortunately, because of Yelp, I only go have excellent experiences. I saw the mixed reviews here, but because of hearing from several locals that it is the best pizza in town, we decided to go. The first time we went we got a carry out pizza. My husband and I are originally Hoosiers so we loved the fact that the original location was in Indiana. We loved the sauce on the first pizza because it was what we are used to in Indiana. Since we loved the sauce so much, we decided to try the spaghetti. I asked for mushroom thinking I would only get mushrooms in my sauce. Nope. The sauce had mushroom and meat. I don't eat meat. I saw they sold containers of their sauce. The menu just says "sauce". I really wanted some of that Hoosier sauce so we asked for their marinara sauce along with spaghetti with only butter for our daughter and a pizza. What we received was meat sauce and meat sauce on my daughter's spaghetti. My husband called them and told them only butter on the spaghetti and the sauce with no meat. When he went back to pick up the corrections they tried to charge him for the marinara sauce because he ordered the wrong thing. He reminded them that he ordered marinara sauce with doesn't have meat. They said they don't use that terminology there, only spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce. Any Italian restaurant should know that marinara sauce doesn't have meat. He explained that marinara sauce is commonly known as not having meat but they wouldn't listen. As a foodie, I can't recommend a restaurant that doesn't know what the basic Italian sauce is. Since this experience we have made it a point to ask if the marinara sauce has meat. Delicious! We ordered out at work and this was the yummiest pizza I've had in the area. We got the Greg's special which was amazing but if you want a classic, go for the pepperoni. To me, the dough and crust are what make the pizza and Greg's did it right. read more

Best pizza in town. The take and bake option on a pizza stone at home is great. Sandwiches are great. Spaghetti is great.

For customer service alone, I give this place one star. Before this pizzeria was sold off to who ever the hell is there now, it was a family favorite. My parents were friends with the original owners, and my mother and I would stop in often with baked goods for the workers and we would get a pizza for dinner. I was even gifted a Greg's pizza shirt once when I was a child and I adored it. I would sleep in it, play in it, even bake with my mother in it. Beyond friendly and always comfortable, ENJOYABLE interactions. Unfortunately, you couldn't get me to walk in the parking lot now, much less go inside and order their greasy pizza. These guys think that everyone is out to scam them if they mess up YOUR order. They take ZERO responsibility and threaten to call the cops on their loyal customers. Hell, you probably look at the husband (co-owner) the wrong way and he'd call the cops. There is no excuse for poor customer service, yelling at women with their children, or calling the cops because you're to cheap and insecure to give a refund. If you can't stand the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen. read more

I would recommend calling ahead of time because they do not have much of a waiting area and the pizza will take 30-40 minutes to complete when they are busy. I have attempted to contact them twice through Facebook messenger about our experience and they have yet to respond! This is the messages I sent... I'm wondering if it's a standard practice that when you call in to place an order that I have to give my credit card information over the phone? This happened to my husband last night! I'm not happy about it! When he came to pick up our order he asked for the paper his card information was written on and the guy who had it pulled it out of his pocket! The order taker said he needed his credit card information in case we didn't pick up our order so he could charge us for it...What if we didn't have a credit card and we were paying with cash!?
