I hate posting negative reviews - but how this place is in business is beyond me. They need to do better. 13 of us were there for lunch. Very few other customers in the business. Our server was horrible. The restaurant knew in advance we'd be there. No plates, silverware or napkins on the table. We had to ask for it all. One of our party received his pizza with no plates. He asked for some and never received them. He finally got up and got them himself. I was fortunate to have received my food first. Unfortunately, after 1 1/2 hours, I had to leave and 2 people in our party still had NOT received their food. I heard later one received hers and the pizza was cold! When I paid, the server said it $11.28. He gave me back $8 saying "they don't do change!" The pizza slices were done wrong - we will say it was a miscommunication - but nothing was done to compensate. It makes me sad some great eating places have closed and this place is still open!! It has to be a front for laundering money because they do NOT know how to serve food. If you have to go, get the Greek salad. It was very yummy. That's the only positive statement I have about the place. The pizza is thin, limp and greasy. Seriously, if you're hungry and thinking about going there, stay home and eat a banana. read more

This used to be our go to pizza joint. It's expensive but they always hit it out of the park. Our last visit a week ago was very bad. I don't like to write bad reviews but it was not a good experience. We got there mid afternoon, the place was not busy at all. Maybe 4 tables. We ordered a pizza just a Supreme, nothing special. We watched people come in, order and get their food, but not us. When we finally get it, almost 40 minutes later, it was cold. Pizza should NOT be cold. It cost nearly $30 and was not good. I met a group of friends here, it was 11 of us total. Not everyone ordered food, only about half of us did. But I guess since there was 11 people in the party, that justifies the place to charge a 18% tip even though it isn't a "high end" place like it states when I looked up TN regulations for mandatory tipping. The young blonde waitress gave the worst service I have had in my life. We got there at 2pm, she came by and disappeared for about a half hour. I don't know if she was new, but she was not attentive, nothing about her service was good. If they didn't force the tip on us on our bill she probably wouldn't have received a tip at all. We had to ask for silverware and napkins more than once. We asked a guy who brought some of our food and he brought them out to us. I ordered bruschetta and the same exact pizza as the person next to me at the same exact time. I said no sauces on top when she asked if I wanted blue cheese or ranch. other person got her pizza 40 minutes after ordering. I got my pizza 30 minutes AFTER she got hers. What the hell, we both ordered the buffalo chicken pizza. Why the hell did mine take 1hour 10 minutes and hers took 40 minutes? That is beyond outrageous. The restaurant wasn't busy and pizzas take about 15 minutes. The bruschetta... terrible. Bruschetta is supposed to have garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar with tomatoes. The tomatoes weren't seasoned, no garlic or olive oil, very blah. I had to get up and find someone to ask them for them to get our checks and boxes because the waitress disappeared over 30 minutes ago and has yet to be back. She should be fired or properly trained. To be a good waitress you need to come back, check on the table, see if we needed anything, see how the meal was etc. We also had to ask for boxes 3 times. read more

Hate to advocate for chain restaurants, but I have to admit that Mellow Mushroom has good pizza. Honestly, it's some of the best pizza in JC. Heard a lot of people talk about terrible service here, but I've never run into any glaring issues. There is plenty of seating inside, outside, and at the bar. The only negative is how dark it is outside the front doors. Honestly it just seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen when someone falls. I ordered a gluten free pizza with buffalo chicken. I have had many pizzas from mellow mushroom and this is by far the worst. 21 dollars for a pizza that was the size of my hand it was more crust than toppings. We orders buffalo and there was no buffalo on top or the ranch that comes on top! It was also sweet? If I am spending almost 25 dollars on a pizza so small. Honestly this place inside is so nice! The staff was so friendly and nice! I'm gluten free and I tried their pizza for the first time, it was not that great at all! The crust was like cardboard! The wings as well were dry and just didn't have good flavor! My husband tried the pretzel bites and the salad. Pretzel bites were good with the cheese, the salad however we added 4-5 toppings and for almost $2 each extra toppings there was hardly anything on the salad. The good thing about mellow mushroom is that they have vegan cheese. Even though the vegan menu only has three items on it with two of those items being salads... You can substitute the vegan cheese elsewhere on the menu. I ordered a veggie calzone, sub, vegan cheese, no, Parmesan, no butter, no ricotta. I also got the vegan Greek salad which I thought it was odd that they didn't offer a vegan Greek dressing with it. I went with the balsamic. It was still a good salad, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a Greek salad at that point. The calzone was giant. It looked like a pizza folded in half. there was a little too much cheese in it, and I wish that it would've had more vegetables. The calzone only had mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach. I could have added more veggies but the up charges were looking a little ridiculous per topping. i did have to add a fair amount of salt to it as well. overall not bad but not amazing. thank you for having vegan cheese though! read more

This place is dog friendly. Sign language inclusion with great food. I'm behind on my reviews, but catching up, since the end of the year is just around the corner. It was a trip with the in laws, and finding substance that would agree with everyone can be nerve wrecking. Thankfully, with reviews and searching the word dog came in handy :) They had two fur babies and those cuties can't be left behind. We sat outside with two tables pushed together. A party of 6, and two furbies. Our waiter was polite, fast, and efficient. I had a meaty pie, hubs a sausage calzone, brother in law a cobbs salad, his gf a buffalo pie, and mother and father in law had wings. The blue cheese on the side is out of this world. Real and chunky, thick blue cheese, not the soupy kind lol. My pie was just great. It had the right amount of dough to cheese ratio. There was tomatoes on top, so it was somewhat healthy in eating vegetables lol. The crust was a buttery crisp. The meat was thick, and there was a slight tang in the sauce. The calzone had a glistening Parmesan garlic flavor brushed on top. It had a nice slight crunch on the exterior. There was definitely a cheese pull in addition to the abundance of sausage. We did take the leftovers back to the hotel. Oh, and I noticed one of the waitress communicating, using sign language with a person that was hard of hearing. That is awesome! I have a sibling that is deaf, so it warmed my heart knowing that this place integrates with people with hearing disabilities. Overall, it was a great meal with awesome company. Food was amazing as usual, our waitress was sweet as could be, it was hotter than satans toenails inside. AND the entire meal was so awkward because of ONE server (Yoshi apparently?) who walked around with NO PANTS. I am not joking, I saw the entire bottom half of their butt cheeks and even my 6 year old daughter was asking why she wasn't wearing pants. My wife and I have recently moved to the area and wanted to try the pizza at Mellow Mushroom, our realtor highly recommended and a new pizza place was totally on our radar. The three-star rating is based on the less than poor service we received from the waitress, she was not friendly, the service she provided was poor because it appeared her concern was only with one table (probably friends or relatives). Fortunately, a younger gentleman took over our table, he was friendly and our horrible first impression we got from the waitress was completely turned around. He was pleasant, very friendly and was genuinely concerned that our needs were met at our table. We ordered a regular house salad which was huge, definitely sharable and very very fresh. The pizza we ordered was the Merry Prankster and it was absolutely delicious, and the crust was amazing.
