My family and I have been renting a place through GF since I was a kid. I have been going to the Chelan and booking through them at least once a year for a long time. I have even rented a few of their other properties. I will NEVER rent from this property management company again due to how rudely we were treated when we stayed in July of 2022. We were yelled at because we plugged in our electric vehicle. There is NOTHING in the rules that stated this was not allowed. The woman could have just told me it wasn't allowed and then asked me to unplug it but she just berated me as if I were a child. I own an airbnb home and I would NEVER speak to a guest the way that this woman (Brook, I think) spoke to me. If you are looking for a pristine place, don't consider renting from Grey Fox. The units are far from clean and we always plan on doing a thorough cleaning when we arrive because we enjoy a place with a great view and can sacrifice having a spotless place. There is always dust and cobwebs in the corners and the window sills must never get cleaned. For my birthday this year, we opted to rent from a wonderful property management company in Netarts and we were blown away with how professional and kind their staff were and the place was spotless! We have enjoyed Chelan condo #6 at Neskowin several times. Sadly, on our last trip we rented a different condo, #8. What we rented was far below expectations and barely deserves 1 star. It's clear from the guest book some people enjoyed their time in condo #8 but for us it did not meet the most basic level of cleanliness or general upkeep of a vacation rental. It felt like more like a Motel 6 hotel than a coastal retreat. Here's a breakdown of our experience with condo #8. Overall pretty run down. Worn down/broken hearth, peeling paint, water damaged walls and more. Vintage countertop & vanity top is cute. Spiderwebs and spiders in multiple locations inside the bedrooms and main area. Several dead bugs (and some live bugs), hair, and unknown substance on walls in bathroom. Towels hung on these same walls. Ick. Badly peeling paint over the bathroom sink. Solid blackish mold growth in bathroom. Rugs in each room are very dirty. Smoke damaged fireplace and dingy/dust covered buoy mirror. Little thing but fireplace lighter didn't work and the "big" box of matches was completely empty. Absolutely gross vent above the stove. Doors rattle all night. (Didn't bother me but might be good to know for light sleepers). Heater is super loud. Heater stopped working. Maintenance came to fix it but it stopped again about an hour later. We chose to be chilly and make due with the fireplace because front desk made it clear they were not interested in fixing issues. Water leak damage in the back bedroom with some sort of orange drip coming out of the wall. One comfortable loveseat. Other seating not great (other "loveseat" is actually two outdoor patio chairs that don't stay together). No additional bedding if it gets cold. View is good. Not the best of the condos. Can't see Proposal Rock from inside (it was winter when we stayed). Heat in bedrooms works well. Great new TV with Netflix. Customer service is lacking, unhelpful, and unfriendly. At the end of the day, for almost $600 for two nights, I expect a little more. read more

we are currently staying in Chelan # 8 at Neskowin. There is an issue with the TV set up. They have changed from cable subscription to Roku where the owner has not subscribed to a streaming service which allows for us to watch live local programming such as ABC, NBC, CBS or any sports channels. Additionally, there are no instructions on how to navigate Roku. Asked the Grey Fox office help to resolve this and was snippy told that's just the way it is. when we made the reservation it stated "cable TV" and was suprized to find this void of Oregon local news during a "Red Flag fire warning" with no way of knowing the status of fire or evacuation information. There are also no outside lights on the premises with stairs up and down from the rental. Asked to speak to the owner to see if the TV situation could be resolved but the office would not allow it. They said they would have the owner call me if they could get ahold of them during our stay of 10 days, staying from 7-17 September 2022. read more

Stayed six days woke up today with no power spoke with a lineman Who is working on the power was informed that everyone in the proximity was notified there would be no power from 7 A.m. 7 PM On Tuesday the 13th. We had to drive into Lincoln city to get coffee tea and breakfast quite an inconvenience. I spoke with several of the people staying at this place none of them were informed of the closure . The sad thing is that no one in the office stuck around at least explain the situation we have as guests were kind of left in the dark you would've thought that someone would've been here at least explain but they all chose to take the day off. The little store here in NASKW was closed the restaurant here in NASKW was closed. I certainly would never recommend this place. read more

We just stayed in Chelan #2. The microwave exploded, the bedroom lights didn't work and the carpet was.... gross. We were told we should have called the emergency number for a new microwave at 7:00 am and again the emergency number for to get the bedroom lights to work at 10:00 pm. That makes for a really fun day of "vacation".Don't forget to wash your dishes before you check out, and bring your own dishwashing fluid because there is none there (at least not when we were there). And kleenex, don't forget your own tissues. All of this for $380 a night. Thanks but next time I'll stay in a tent. read more

Neskowin is a pint-size Beach town. I've never written a review in the decades of my visits. Growth and commercialization were always in the back of my mind. Time has passed and little has changed. The Hawk Creek Cafe has a new Foundation, and the little market charges $7 for a jar of mayonnaise instead of $5. Here I give you a Little (mostly) Secret Beach. Lisa in the office of Greyfox has plenty of aloha, and remembers my name like we're old friends; She will treat you the same. Ok. Lots to say and I can't just give 3/5 for everything. 1. Grey Fox Vacation Rentals as a company gets 5/5. Customer service was excellent. Ease of getting/dropping off keys, booking, etc was perfect. They gave us an extra night free due to an off season special. 2. Condo gets 1/5. The place we stayed in (#319) is probably 30 years old and has likely never been updated. Old stove, old fridge, kitchy decor, couch falling apart, old bed covers (beds themselves were comfortable, though, so there's that). Dishes were dirty in the cupboards upon arrival. Thermostat was locked so we couldn't adjust the room temp for a couple of hot blooded kids during sleep. Water temp was set to lukewarm and it went to cold within two minutes (baths and showers sucked). We got about a half tsp of salt (clumped) to work with for dinner. Oh yeah and no Wi-Fi!! Grey Fox told us to use an open network in the area. Yeah sure, if I want to get hacked! Everything needs to be painted, replaced, updated. EVERYTHING. 3. View 5/5 Gorgeous, awe inspiring views made the condo almost bearable. The first photo below is sunset from the deck. The second is sunrise from one of the bedrooms.You are definitely paying for the view here, as this condo would be probably $75 per night max with no view. Next time, we'll avoid this condo and try a house or something else Grey Fox rents. read more

My family has been using Grey Fox for years to rent beach houses in Neskowin and it's always been a wonderful experience. They are a truly a business that cares about its customers and clients. Yes, we've been working with them happily for years but what inspired me to write this now was what happened on my most recent experience. My family always rents a bunch of houses in Neskowin the same week in August, every year for over 20 years (about half of those with Grey Fox). I recently reached an age where I had to arrange my own accommodations so I got all excited and booked a house. About 2 weeks before I found out I had booked the wrong week! I was going to be there a week earlier than everyone else! So I called up Grey Fox, ready to hear that they were all booked up or that I couldn't switch my reservation or that I'd forfeit my deposit. Instead they were super nice about switching to another property! No hassle at all. It's the personalized attention you get at Grey Fox that I appreciate the most. I only take off a star because their website is so hard to use. I'm glad they HAVE a website (and I notice they recently redesigned it! yay!) and I'm not asking for an online reservation system or even availability, I just want to search for rentals and filter the results, and maybe see all the properties on an interactive map (currently there's a very simple map with a number for each house that you have to cross-reference with a list on another page). read more

The Bed had hair on it, The tub had hair in it, the floor had wet spots? Just Gross and cant believe I had to stay.. This was not even the worst part.. My children left cheerios on the ground and they charged me 30$ (no vacuum or broom to even clean this. also no documents saying I had to be the maid on vacation) DONT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR CREDIT CARD. They will nickle and dime you. Just stay and Hotel next door. They're 10x better. The rooms at neskowin resort smell, and everything is outdated. The bed gave me back pain.. I could continue, But you should know by now to stay somewhere else. read more

we reciently rented unit 173 from gery fox and had a sad experience. i don't think the rental agent is at fault but the property owner surely is! the "dining room" chairs were all metal(no cushions what so ever) they were undersized and probably came form an elementary school. the living room furniture is worn out and has bee there for at least 8 years as we have rented this unit from time to time that far back. all in all the owner is charging more than ever before and giving far less for the money.....try another unit. read more

Rented 4370 Independence #18 with Grey Fox. Easy to book and pick up key, but the unit itself was less than a 1 star. Upon arrival found the unit extremely dirty, a fridge and freezer full of rotten food, countertops oily, door handles dirty, cobwebs throughout, dust and oil clinging to the popcorn ceiling, prescription medication in the bathroom as well as every drawer, shelf and space filled with personal belongings either belonging to the last guest or owner? There was mold on all the window ledges. Bedding and towels were very old and the sheets were thin and scratchy. The carpets were dirty with black spots and debris. The Wifi didn't work during our stay. Brought all these concerns directly to Kristina at the Grey Fox office and she was completely non interested in resolving any of the issues. Several photos were taken to document these issues. We spent several hours trying to clean before we could move in. As a result of this experience, we will never use Grey Fox rental services again as well as discourage others from renting through Grey Fox. read more

We rented #17 on South Beach in Neskowin for a week at the beginning of October 2018. There were six adults. The house is very spacious and has a great view of the beach. The house is in Neskowin, which is the perfect beach! The floor plan of the house is ideal for a large group that wants to be together but not on top of each other. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. The home is FAR from updated as the Grey Fox ad claims! See MY pictures to get a true understanding. It has new granite and cheap "wood" flooring in some of the house, but that's were the updates stop. We called twice and stopped by once to express out concerns for the condition of the house. Management sent a repairperson who replaced two light bulbs. That was it. No further explanations were given. Here is a partial list of what was wrong: First of all - beach access is limited to the young and those willing to climb rocks. We couldn't manage it. There should be a disclosure about the accessibility! Master Bedroom - cable box remote missing, when we inquired about it we were told it was intended for movie watching ONLY (why would there be a cable box). Two light bulbs burnt out in bathroom. Middle bedroom - the TV turns on w/remote but you can't get any reception - cable goes to wall but no cable to DVD player. Bathroom is all beat up and dated Upper outlet by outer wall does not work. It is NOT the switch it just doesn't work! Shower comes down like a hose and practically knocks you off your feet. Back bedroom - there is no cable box for this old analogue TV, no batteries in remote - you can only watch movies on a very tiny TV The drain in the attached bathroom is VERY slow. To flush the commodes you must hold the handles down in all but master bathroom. The TV in the Family room is sitting on hearth about 12" from the floor. Sometimes the TV has black line running down the left side. The DVD player doesn't work. The bookshelves in this room are messy, aged, cluttered and dusty. Look at the photos to see the condition of the baseboards with wire and cable taped in place. The smoke detector is missing leaving a hole in the ceiling. The stereo is not connected to anything but an old boom box sitting on top of it. An old out of tune piano is being stored in the room. All of the air intakes and vents are filthy dirty. There was NO wood provided for the fireplace (contrary to the advertisement) and we were afraid to use the fireplace due to the overall condition of the house. There is absolutely NO light on outside deck area. So forget using the hot tub because you couldn't safely find your way to it in the dark. There was no sanitizer provided for the hot tub during our weeklong stay. Just another reason we didn't use it even during daylight hours. The internet is terribly slow, their computer doesn't work and neither did their printer/fax machine. Nothing was connected to anything. The kitchen oven was dirty. The ceiling fan in the kitchen was black with dirt. Additionally, there is a sailboat mobile hanging in the kitchen that has cobwebs layered through the entire thing. Kitchen small appliances and utensils are from the 60-70's. There are pans with no lids and lids with no pans. Dishes are chipped and mismatched. The electric hand mixer has a garage sale sticker on it. The entire kitchen is utterly disorganized. Knives - there is not a sharp one in the house! There was food left behind that was more than 2 years old! The deck and patio furniture are in total disrepair. No working light on patio -reported to management on our first day - guy came twice and never fixed nor provided an explanation. We own a cabin in another part of the country. I would never allow our second home to be rented in this condition. It is disgraceful. In general this home in horribly maintained and dated. read more

I have been staying in Grey Fox properties for about 15 years. The property I like is very unique and has 10 units. I have stayed in most of them enough that it feels like "our" place at the beach. Staff is friendly and prompt with requests. Units are owned individually, so amenities vary a bit, but the Grey Fox people are always top notch. read more

Rented unit #22 and won't be back. Mold in the shower, bedding was stained and had an awful smell and the beds are absolutely shot. One room smelled like urine, cracks in the toilet bowl and generally a filthy rental. I have rented houses from Vegas to Hawaii and this was the worst. The worst part is there was an envelope left by the cleaning staff to put my monetary tip in and when I brought all of this to the offices attention that the cleaning staff was sorely lacking the exact response was " oh ok". I guess that Neskowin has such a limited amount of rentals that they just don't care. read more

Grey Fox is a disgrace to the management profession. They rented an un-inhabitable dump (Chalan unit #9) to me which apparently no one had stayed in or even checked on in years. Doors were stuck, outside door did not lock from inside, water flow in the show stopped suddenly. My entire stay was spent dealing with front office, which was totally ineffective. Grey Fox's management never got back to me. They did not even offer an apology. What a shame, putting such prime location in the hands of non-caring ineffective "management". read more
