I was leaving from UT to ID for my job. I was going to fly, and now I know better. Booked a ticket and got to my stop at 1 a.m., for a 1:45 departure. Well, when I got there, they said there would be a 45 minute delay. So I waited. I waited until 4:45 a.m. and still no bus. I had to call someone for a ride and was seething, as now I would miss my connecting bus. When I called Greyhound, I reach an over seas agent. The girl barely spoke English and kept reading from a script. She stated that the bus had come and I could not be refunded. What????? I told her, no the bus did not come. Myself, and the cameras at the stop could prove that. She did not hear me, but kept reading the same script. I then tried to email customer service. They said sorry, we don't issue refunds unless we cancel. I let them know they never showed. They just kept copying and pasting their policy on refunds only if they cancel. So now Greyhound just took my money, never offered a service, and refuse to make good on my purchase. Do not. I repeat, do not buy from here. They are a scam. They take your money and do not offer the service you pay for. Then they try and stonewall you. I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau. They are so gross. DO NOT EVER USE Greyhound Bus Package Express to ship items!!! They lie, steal, and do everything in their power to be as useless as possible. Here's why: First of all, when I tried to track my packages (coming from ATL to SLC), the status was completely incorrect. It said my packages were in Los Angeles on April 1st when I later confirmed that they were delivered to Salt Lake City on March 26th. I did not get a single call or email saying that my packages had arrived and I drove all the way to the station with the assumption they were there because I cannot reach ANYONE helpful in ANY department. Secondly, I still have 1 of 8 packages undelivered. It was the most essential of my shipment and it's over TWO WEEKS LATE. I've been trying to reach someone at Package Express for over a week and I get absolutely no answer during business hours. I've spent over 2 hours on hold only to speak with the most unhelpful staff I've ever encountered in my entire life. All they do is put me on hold for 30+ minutes only to come back and provide a number that I told them I have already called numerous times And get this, the supervisors are even worse than the representatives. Additionally, I've filed a refund request AND reported a claim and have received no follow-up whatsoever. I'll save the worst for last. Of the seven packages I have already picked up, one of the boxes was COMPLETELY empty, and one had items that were shattered to pieces. I used gorilla tape and packing paper to secure these boxes/items so it's clear that the staff were not handling these with care. After 2 weeks of enduring the complete hell this sad excuse for a company has put me through, the updated online status said that my last package had been delivered. I called and spent an entire hour being transferred and put on hold just to confirm it was there (since the tracking system was clearly unreliable in the past). You guessed it, STILL couldn't even get a confirmation. So, I drove 40 miles in traffic to get to the Greyhound station to retrieve it and it was nowhere to be found. Let me just point out that this was my largest, heaviest and most valuable package. Doesn't seem like much of a coincidence that this would go "missing." And that someone would intentionally mark it delivered when it clearly wasn't????? I sent a long email to customer service explaining all of my issues including the fact that I could not reach anyone at Package Express. And what do they do? Respond and tell me that I will need to get in touch via phone with Package Express for further assistance. I am beyond livid. First thing tomorrow, I'll be contacting my lawyer. Took my children out all over the valley all early in the morning 2 days in a row just for them to tell me it was canceled again.. then I call to get a refund they won't do it, so I asked for them to change my dates n they wanna charge me $80 hell no!! They finally rebooked she got home 24hrs later they still tried to charge me extra to rebook when it was there fault. ive been is slc since 2am.. been waiting on greyhound to put us up in a hotel since 6am..the connecting bus we missed cause the st luis bus was 6hrs late.. this is a major city and you cant find 8 hotel rooms for like 10 people in the last 4hrs ?? I dont think they'll put us in a hotel and were all just gonna sit here till 11pm cause were all worried to leave to find food and water incase they actually do put us in a hotel. I arrived about 3:30 in the morning on a train from Reno. The bus station had several people waiting for their busses but not an employee in site and there wouldn't be one until at least 7. Even security found a corner to sleep in, I'm guessing because he/she was no where in site which was unfortunate since the women's bathroom was locked but the men's room was open so that was my only option. Then I sat down to wait 3 hours for my bus and found a cockroach crawling across the floor. The place was filthy.. I enjoyed my trip on Greyhoune Bus Lines from Utah to Nevada. Before you go on a trip on ANY form of transportation, find out what the rules are. For instance, you can bring food on the bus. Bring your head phones or ear buds and a plug in usb charger. The website says yes you can charge your cell battery BUT the charger is an actual electric outlet!! I thought that was funny! At the last minute I had asked my dad to loan me a plug in charger, had I not done that I would not have been able to charge my phone and watch Outlander on my phone. :) I love the idea of not having to drive and be stressed out. I don't fly cuz there isn't anything to see in the sky... but road trips? Yes! Sign me up!! I worked for an airline selling tickets; people would call up and get these exorbitant quotes for flights and not surprisingly not want to pay that amount. They would ask me: what would you do? Horrible trip. From Vegas to salt lake. There was no wifi and no power outlets and I needed both. When I purchased my ticket online, they were very specific that there outlets and wifi. I was told when I asked aboard the bus that it was just an "old bus". But I needed to know that as I was planning to work on my laptop the entire trip. The driver did not drive safely. Lots of speeding up and braking sporadically. She would scream the stops rudely. Someone was smoking pot in the restroom on the bus during the drive. read more

If you ever doubt that Greyhound's customer service motto is "because fuck you, that's why," go ahead and take a Greyhound trip through Salt Lake City. You don't even need to make it the starting or ending point of your trip: just passing through will be enough to give you a slice of some of the various ways that decisions about how to treat customers are cynically predicated on an assumption that you're already only going Greyhound as a last resort, so there's no need to worry about losing your business, because let's be honest: what are you going to do next time, fly your own private plane? LOL. They can treat you however they want without losing your future business. And they know it, so they do. So yeah: the ticket agent is insulting and cynical and intentionally slow. Why? Because fuck you, that's why. He also is the only food sales in the building, and good luck getting anything else on your layover: you're in a desolate urban wasteland. Why? Because fuck you, that's why. The one microwave in the station for the microwave-required food they sell is apparently from the Eisenhower administration and hasn't been cleaned since it was installed. Sure, they could have some pride and wipe it down once in a while so the rotating tray that the food sits on while being heated isn't coated with a quarter-inch layer of radioactive red mystery sludge, but they're not going to do that. Why? Because fuck you, that's why. When you're sitting at the gate waiting to board, there's one TV in the area bolted near the ceiling and apparently turned all the way up. It can't be turned down or off, nor can the channel be changed. This means that every single time you come through the station, you get to see a group of primarily non-white, primarily non-local, primarily poor, primarily non-Mormon customers being forcibly exposed to a local news station that never seems to have anything on besides programming where rich white locals are contemptuous about all non-Mormon ways of life. Why do you have to be indoctrinated into the local cult while waiting for the bus you've paid to get on to? Because fuck you, that's why. Greyhound periodically requires all passengers on long-distance trips to get off the bus and spend thirty to ninety minutes in the terminal while they clean and fuel the bus. Sure, this is a sensible safety precaution, but even leaving aside the "because fuck you, that's why" rationale involved in waking you up at three in the morning to get off and then board again in an hour or so, which happens all over the country on Greyhound trips in preference to giving a shit about common sleeping patterns and trying to schedule cleaning and fueling at non-sleeping times, the SLC station imposes the requirement that you have to wait out in the cold to retrieve your bag from the bus, then check it again when you re-board, EVEN IF YOU'RE GETTING BACK ON THE EXACT SAME BUS. Sure, this isn't ACTUALLY NECESSARY: they COULD just leave the bags under the bus; then, even on the rare occasions when the bus needs to be swapped out, have baggage handlers do it when fueling. This would actually be quicker and less error-prone even when bags really do need to be changed, and would mean that customers don't have to drag their luggage around the station being constantly observant to ensure it's not stolen. But the Salt Lake City station goes out of their way not to provide good customer service in that way. Why? Because fuck you, that's why. And when they drag your bag off the bus, they just throw it on the ground out of their own way. Since there are multiple baggage piles being built in this manner anyway, you can't know where your bag will be deposited, nor even which side of the bus it will wind up in, so there's no way to ensure you'll even see your bag before some enterprising person steals it. They COULD check the baggage claim tickets they hand out when you check your bags, but they don't seem to want to do this little bit of actual work. Why? Because fuck you, that's why. Going Greyhound is always a miserable experience, but the SLC station is an especially contemptuous and cynical version of that general problem. It's like a pagan temple to their corporate customer service motto on the outskirts of Salt Lake City. read more

To add to the joy of this station - the ticket window is only open RIGHT before departures, and it's the first station I've seen in years to toss your stuff and wand you, but they do it while you're in the departure line for some reason ... so they insist on forming up the line like 20-30 minutes before the actual departure time, forcing everyone to stand forever for no good reason (and even longer if your bus is late, which is far from unheard of with Butthound). read more

Not the best experience, but also not the worst! Our bus was scheduled to depart at 12:05 am so arriving in middle of night in this neighborhood was a little scary. There are 3 public parking spots onsite.. I'm not joking. The doors near parking are locked and you are required to walk around corner to enter building which would be fine, but in dark in middle of night not so much. The ticket agent is a big not to friendly gentleman with not much of a personality sadly. Our bus ended up being 2 hours late so we had plenty of time to look around establishment. Waiting area was large and very clean.. but not a lot of seating and seats are metal and do the trick but not comfortable. As it was so late restrooms were closed so security guard ( a heavy set gentleman) had to walk down hall to let us in and was very rude to us and not friendly whatsoever. There are vending machines with chips, cookies and drinks but pretty spendy. Also a electronic vending machine with a few costly ear buds and chargers etc. if you needed something without leaving building. We did feel safe while we were inside the station which was great. I bought a ticket for my partner so that he could go home for a funeral as well as get a new ID because he lost his while living in UT. I accidentally put the ticket in my name and when I called customer support to switch it to his name, I was told that he would have to provide an ID in order to board the bus despite the ticket being paid in full. I have ridden with Greyhound before and never have I had this problem, but now we are unable to use a ticket that I paid for and meanwhile Greyhound profits with little to no care about their customers. When I called I was told that before purchasing the ticket, I had the option to pick up the ticket at the station via a password. I downloaded the app for my convenience and was never given this option. The screen only gave me the option to put in my card info and declare whether or not special needs be considered. The person I spoke with on the phone told me she wasn't sure why the app didn't display the option to pick the ticket up at each station and that I should have tried on a desktop and that now nothing can be done. If this is how Greyhound chooses to do business, I am very unimpressed and will never do business with this company again. It is extremely unprofessional to advertise an app and then not list all options on the app AND then blame the customer for not using a desktop computer. Now my partner will be missing his brother and his grandmother's funeral and Greyhound is blaming the customer for their apps inadequacy. This company is completely unprofessional and I am extremely disappointed in how these events have played out. read more

Catching my bus in Reno which made me late to Salt Lake City which made me late to Ogden Utah. Don't know if they'll ever get my money again that's all I know !!! Lets start with very sad sad Bus driver . I was on a trip to El Paso Texas . I left from salt lake city Utah on March 12 at 7am something in the am. We stopped at a Chevron in Evanston Wyoming ,1 1/2 hours after leaving Utah . I got off the bus (keep in mine just to use the restroom ) with none of my personal belonging ,no coat, no suitcase, no backpack . It's a winter storm as well that day. freezing temp. When I came out of the restroom the bus had left me . I was literally stranded there with nothing and I could not get a hold of anyone from the station, 1 hour hold times and finally when I got someone they would not help me,said it wasn't there area and I'll have to wait til the next bus in 24 hours( due to storm it was off schedule and even canceled ) and couldn't get a hold of the driver . I'm telling you my heart left and I was so helpless and felt abandon and I was left .A winter storm was here and I was left at this Chevron with nothing . All bus where canceled for 2 days as well due to storm conditions. I was helped out by the Chevron manager that morning .This left me very sick to my stomach and also had to spend over $200.00 for room and shelter til the storm left . I final made it to Denver 2 days later to find my luggage at least they dropped it off with my personal belongs that were left on the bus . Please understand helplessness and left with nothing ,no coat in the dead of winter . I took the night bus from SLC to San Francisco with a transfer at Reno. The bus departed 1 hour late and arrived 2 hours late in San Francisco. The first bus to Reno was full of dirty and weird people, some of them yelling in the dark of the bus. The bus from Reno to San Francisco was very dirty but people seemed to be normal folks travelling. Anyways, I think that's what you get for your money, even though it is not that cheap ! read more

This is easily the WORST experience I've ever had with greyhound. Sitting here for a 7 1/2 hour layover me and my girlfriend have been heckled by the staff multiple times (same tweeker looking old man with surprisingly less brain cells than he has remaining teeth) and had garbage thrown at us by a baggage handler who proceeded to give mean glares towards my girlfriend and then complain that we don't know where the garbage belongs... even better, it wasn't our trash that he was throwing at us or yelling about. Salt Lake City Greyhound. Shaking my head. This place only gets a star because I couldnt give it a worse rating. The station's organization was a total mess. The guy at the counter, Milan, was clearly irritated to be there. He was taking forever and had the most uninviting expression on his face. I ordered my tickets in advance so I got in line to have them printed. While in line, I was harassed and threatened by a customer behind me and I called Gio, the "security" officer on duty to help me. As I got back in line the customer continued to threaten me loudly so I turned around and told him to stop making people uncomfortable. The customer then continued to harass me and called me the N word, while Gio advised me to ignore the customer. Some "security guard" he turned out to be. So then the grumpy and unprofessional, Milan, told us to both leave the building. I informed him I had already purchased my tickets and I was just in line to have them printed when I started being harassed and he said he didnt care. Meanwhile Gio went to hide somewhere behind the counter. My tickets were non refundable so I asked for his name so that I could make a complaint and he was sarcastic with me. Because of this experience I wont be doing business with Greyhound again, regardless of city or state. The company as a whole has disappointed me too many times. read more

We stop here in Salt Lake City not on the schedule of stops and our bus was two hours delayed because we had to wait for another bus of people to get at this station and since we had to wait for that bus and made us miss our connecting bus and when we talked to the manger he said just sit down and wait. So thank you grey hound for leaving me stranded in a super rough and dangerous city. They show no rescept to customers or even tried to help. I have rode many bus lines and this was one of the worst experiences of my travels. I would of gave zero stars but it's not an option!!!! I needed to change a ticket date. The station in Portland did not help me after i stood in line for 25 minutes. I got to Salt Lake, wait in line for 52 minutes, just to have to employee say "uh I just cant figure out how to change the ticket, but you do have up to a year to change the ticket". Four days later I try messaging the customer service and 3 different people all hung up on me after 20 seconds of me not responding. Then once I get ahold of the next customer service person they ask me to hold for a few moments, while the first 2 wouldn't wait 20 seconds. Greyhound is now telling me they wont change my ticket date because it is past the departure day, but I attempted changing the ticket at two stations before its departure day. read more

So, after spending 237.50 on a bus ticket from Seattle, Wa, going to St. joseph, Mo, I'll will never, ever, EVER, even in life or death, take greyhound or any buses associated with them, again. I got on my bus an hour late in Seattle on July 4th, no big deal just a little delay, trip was going alright, until an 'unexpected' transfer in Salt Lake, again no big deal, even if it was a day later at 7am, even on the bus, I like to sleep. So the bus driver tells me to wait behind door number 9, so for an hour, four passengers and I waited patiently with other re boarders, and apparently people who gave five extra dollars to be priority. When the baggage guy came up, he was rude to start off with, and then told me that all of the re boarders were supposed to wait behind door 8, now this might not seem like a big deal, but now we were expected to go behind the long line of fresh, not been on a bus for 25 hours soon to be passengers. Needless to say, I was a little more than upset, I just quit smoking, and was attending a funeral. When I asked him if the staff here and the drivers even communicate, I got no answer, so I said it was fu*#ing ridiculous, I was then told, as a paying customer, over the age of 18, to watch my attitude. Now I understand, you just pulled a double shift, you're sad because when you get home the only pu$%y you get is your cat telling you to feed it, but don't take it out on someone who USED to ride every year, now, I'll wait an extra week, and spend 100 dollars more for a plane, or just rideshare. Greyhound, Utah, has once again made me hate something I use to enjoy, seriously, use to love taking the bus, but the customer service is worse than wal-mart. read more

on my travels from fort lauderdale florida to provo utah i had a few things happen. first my bags weighed over 130lbs (combined weight) no help was offered for a disabled minister to get his bags on or off the bus. in atlanta i was picked up off the ground when i asked for help was told no then i proceeded to get my bags and the weight of it put me on the ground and it took two people to pick me up.then when i got to dallas tz i watched one of the ground crew rip off a tag from my bag and leave it on the ground.then when i got in to provo my bags weren't on the bus i was on. after recieving 2 of my 3bags i noticed on bag was damaged and the other had been opened. a pair of vans sneakers went missing along with the bag containing my nebulizer, coin collection(building for my grandchildren), the only pair of jeans i own. this is not what i expected from greyhound i will never travel with those thieves again. don't travel with greyhound use the train it is a better option. it is cleaner and more comfortable. nowi can't even get them to answer the phone and when they do there are people i cannot understand answering the phones. when i explain i can't understand them i am told i am being rude. if i can't understand what is being said how can i be helped.this company doesn't care about the passengers only about $$$$$. read more
