So I have never been to griddle cafe in person but I have order from them a bunch of times and every time I have ordered from them I have never been let down it's one for most affordable deli's still in long Island city. I have been to a bunch of deli's in long island city and alot of them now have increased the price of sandwiches and honestly griddle cafe still seems to have reasonable pricing the food has never let me done ether. Griddle cafe is your standard deli with breakfast lunch and etc it's nothing special but it very reasonable prices which is great to have a deli that won't over charge you for something you want. From the coffee to the bacon egg and cheese to the burger the food is good tasty I definitely have to visit them in person and try out everything else in the menu One sandwich specifically have my eyes on is the breakfast panini ham mozzarella cheese and egg also I have my eye on the banger sandwich. The banger sandwich and the breakfast panini are definitely on my next breakfast sandwiches to try they both sound good and I love breakfast sandwiches so I'm definitely hyped about those two. I definitely recommend ordering or visiting the place in person which I'm still planning to do especially on a day off but overall I assume that the service is fine so please visit the deli when you have the chance. read more

I feel like this is by far the last cheapest Deli left in Long Island City. They kept their prices the same and did not change them due to Gentrification. They are great for the workers in the factory area. They do deliver as well. I love the old feel of LIC when I walk into this place. I am not sure if they are open on the weekends because the area is pretty much dead during those days. They are following covid19 rules. The few times I ordered the delivery man asked us to come downstairs instead of coming up. I enjoyed their egg white breakfast with hash browns. I've never gotten sick from their food so that means they are good. I love the prices and how they understand that not everyone who lives in the area are from the new buildings. Great job guys are being the same place and never changing. The customer service has always been nice to me. I am thankful for that. Their hours sometimes are hit or miss and don't match up with what is on yelp. But that is expected due to the pandemic. read more

Griddle Cafe won't turn any heads or win any awards for its food, but it is one of the few delis in the Hunters Point area that lives to serve the lunch crowd of LIC. There is no pretension here, just a deli that serves standard breakfast / lunch fare at super affordable prices in the hood. The narrow layout of the restaurant is deceiving, in the sense that it's actually quite spacious. While the hot food and kitchen are out in the front, the seating is all the way in the back. Order some food and eat in the back; which works for everyone. While the hot food changes daily, they have all sorts of stuff for the morning commute and appetite: bagels, donuts, BEC (bacon egg and cheese), muffins, egg platters and sandwiches. Speaking of the latter, I'm a fan of the Banger, which has sausage patties, two fried eggs, hashbrowns, cheddar cheese and chipotle mayo on a roll for $4.95. That's really solid. A lot of the lunch time stuff will vary, but in terms of hot food, they have everything from roasted pernil to different kinds of fish. The burgers are nothing crazy, but they do the job at roughly $8 for a platter. For roughly $9, one can score their entree platters which range from a Mexican plate to Mediterranean. Yes, that means most items are cheaper than almost all the diners in the hood. So what's the issue? To some degree, the food is pretty mediocre. Not saying that the old adage of "you get what you pay for" applies here per se, but there hasn't been too much that I get incredibly excited about here. The other more pressing issue is how slow the service can be, especially with delivery. I've waited eons for food to arrive in the past and learned it's just really much easier to rock pick up. But even then, a lot of times the food is poorly packaged, leading to spillage or very sloppy presentation. It can be somewhat frustrating but I try to cut them a bit of slack. Ultimately, if one tapers their expectations for this place, it's not such a bad experience after all. Living and working in LIC is practically just as expensive as the city and where Griddle Cafe can work for all is by the sheer value in what they offer. read more

I love this cafe. I order here almost every day for lunch when j can't make it outside or I don't bring lunch into work. Their prices are great and the food is really good. Their California salad is one of my favorites as well as their French toast with bacon. And if you're a coffee lover their ice coffee light and sweet will have you on your feet all day. Ive been coming here for months for breakfast and lunch. The more I went, the more I disliked it. I grew tired of the mediocre taste. I actually thought it was super cheap but everything adds up and that tax sneaks up on you. A bottle of soda comes up to about $1.67 and lunch specials usually run you about $7. $9 for lunch is a bit much for me. Although its a good proportion and you have left overs, I'd prefer if they were cheaper with less food. The food also looks more appetizing than it is. The salmon, tilapia, burgers, pasta etc really lack flavor. They're good for breakfast. The breakfast is cheap too. Also they serve fruit cups for those who prefer that instead of a heavy meal, but even that is more expensive than it should be. The best tasting thing they probably have is the lentil soup. I also am not too crazy about the service. There's a older hispanic male, who may be the manager thats always at the register. You dont really catch him with a smile on his face. I used to go there 3-5 times a week. Thats pretty often and for you not to greet me like I'm a frequent customer makes me not want to come back. There is a young guy with facial hair who is really nice and you can tell he's a great worker. Also this place closes at 5 and sells out of hot food pretty early so if you go after 3pm, its slim pickins. They also have snacks like a grocery store which I think is a nice add-on. Also those who work in the area, you can add your name to the mailing list to receive daily specials. There's an even amount of pros and cons at this place but the one thing I really cannot stand is that the temperature of the water which they make coffee and tea is too damn hot. If you ever wondered what burnt water taste like...this place has it, If they made a few tweaks and added a little more flavor they would have more customers who WANT to come here rather than customers who come out of convenience. read more

Griddle is a popular place for breakfast and lunch, and in my opinion one of the best delis in the LIC area. Their kitchen staff is very quick (and accurate), and all of their food is delicious. It's a typical deli with a million breakfast and lunch options, great coffee, and a large seating area. Every time I go back to this place and think that maybe they are OK, they make sure to let me down. Today I have been waiting 90 minutes for a very simple lunch (Italian hero and chicken fingers). I placed the order online through their website. And my office is 2 blocks from the restaurant. It should take about 20 minutes to get us this delivery, 30 minutes tops. A 90 minute wait means they just forgot about this order. I've been a customer for years. Sometimes they get so busy they just can't keep track of all the orders. Just Opened, literally. And newly fresh. I like new businesses and like this place, close enough where I can get my average day food, that's what this place seems like. The fridge is lined with juice, water and cold beverages. The pans are filled with basic hot entrees (pre-cooked) dishes like pasta/lasagna, mashed potatoes, macaroni dishes, etc... The deli section ready to serve sandwiches and as for a new customer, I order a fresh salad (comes with Newman's Own salad dressing and two slices of bread. I also order misc items...all well made in your average sort of way. Get your basics like the breakfast egg and omelette special. There menu consist mainly of sandwiches and wraps. There's a Create A Sandwich option also. The cafe serves basic deserts and coffee. I think this Deli like establishment will serve well for those local to the area. With about a dozen tables and a restroom, it is a great asset to the area for people to dine. There hours are M-F (5am-5pm) and Saturdays (6am-2pm). Day 2: Soup of the Day: Manhattan Clam Chowder, yum tomato flavor! And good presentation with the parsley (skimping on the clams). Soft enough bread on my tuna hero. Tuna is tuna. read more
