The food was phenomenal. Absolutely no notes! The vibes here are very romantic for date night. The filet was so flavorful and melted in our mouth. I am not the biggest fan of calamari but the calamari here was so delicious I couldn't stop myself from eating it!!! It had this amazing garlic sauce on them!! The nitrotinis are also a must! Will be back!

The place is very nice for date night, service was great attentive managed the order and speed so we had great slow night Steak and food was very good high quality. Had a pianist playing. Dark wood and low lights make for a great ambiance.

Made for a very special birthday while visiting family in town. Impeccable service, ambience & food. Delicious! Rum punch also yummy. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Everything was really great. Note that besides the salads, there's only 1 vegetarian meal on the menu and it was cheesy tomato in a crust like a pot pie kind of thing. My son said the rib eye was the best he's ever had. It's pricey. The service is wonderful. If you can get past the high prices, you must visit.

Where do I begin?! I'm a local from Charleston but I'd never been to this restaurant. My boyfriend and I made a reservation for 5:30 and it looked like we weren't going to make it on time. He called the restaurant and they were able to push the time one hour with no issues. Service was very friendly and convenient to make the reservation. I was worried about the dress code but I wore a nice sun dress, and my boyfriend wore a nice polo shirt, dark jeans and Timberland boots. I really thought we wouldn't be allowed in but it was not an issue. We were sat right away and immediately greeted by our waiter. He was very friendly and helpful explaining the menu and drinks. I got a Sweet Tea Nitro-tini and it was so neat! The glass comes with a warning and you have to wait 3 minutes to drink it but worth the fun experience. The don't skimp on the alcohol! We ordered Oysters Rockefeller to start and they were sooo good! I could have ordered 15 more, they are delicious. We both ordered the Prime Ribeye and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Absolutely mouthwatering steak and grabbed a side of fried green tomatoes. The sides are family size so for two people one side would be enough with the main meal. Despite being full to bursting after dinner, we ordered a slice of cheesecake for dessert to share. It was a large slice and even the two of us couldn't finish it. The final bill plus tip was a little over $300. It's definitely a great place if you want to spend some money, but it's a once a year kind of place for me, great for a romantic date or anniversary dinner. If you have time go to the roof top bar and grab another drink! The food was so good I forgot to take more pictures.

Located in the Market Pavilion Hotel (Market & East Bay). Reservations highly recommended. Children welcome but not a restaurant for children. Great menu variety that offers "a taste of Charleston " and more ! Make sure you try one of their famous "Nitrotini's" (martinis w/nitro's oxidized)- think smoking witches caldron. Impeccable service- Thank you Mr. Jimmy! With so many good restaurants in Charleston, if your a steak lover, this place is a "can't miss"

I came here because they were known for the nitromartinis. It has been a min since I was last here but they don't have the drink I ordered. It was a nitromallow. Yep, it has liquid nitrogen with marshmallows on the top. It was basically like a s'mores martini. It pairs really well when you go up to the rooftop and enjoy it while watching the sunset. Service was wonderful, you get a cool show when the bartender prepares it. Honestly, I recommend getting any nitromartini. It was slightly expensive for a drink.

I was in town for work, joining a handful of colleagues who had traveled in from our various remote outposts, and Halls was exactly the right place to turn a productive day into a proper night out. The room had real energy, the service was outstanding, and my filet was excellent, with a spread of classic steakhouse sides that disappeared quickly enough that the exact details have been lost to history. Somehow, our schedule ran long enough that I arrived dressed appropriately from the ankles up, then looked down and remembered I was wearing loud Nike sneakers. I spent the first few minutes feeling mildly self conscious before realizing that nobody cared: the crowd covered a real range, and the restaurant had the confidence to feel elevated without making anyone perform for admission. That ease is what I remember almost as much as the steak. Halls captures something unusually Charleston about a great night out: a serious meal, a room humming with people, and enough Southern graciousness around the edges that even the guy in loud Nikes leaves feeling entirely at home.

The wedge salad was fine but lacked depth in the dressing. Comparable to any other, nothing special. My biggest problem: the steaks. They once again, overcooked my steak. Out of politeness I never said anything but a medium rare order was a medium to medium well. My wife ordered a medium and you could not tell a temperature difference between hers and mine. The side dishes were phenomenal (creamed spinach and truffle Mac and cheese). The dessert: we had a strawberry shortcake that was good but again, it felt like the flavors were a bit too bland for a steakhouse dessert. We have given this place two tries. Unfortunately considering the competition when it comes to high end steakhouses downtown Charleston, I don't think we will be back.

The first floor was composed mainly of booths; the second level (where we ate) had table seating; and the third floor had tables as well. Like any great steakhouse, there was a lot of wood, but thanks to the rugs and curtains, the restaurant never became loud. The food was absolutely superb! The steak was perfectly cooked, and my tile fish could not have been flakier or tastier. The sides were spectacular. The crab cake had coleslaw as a topping. I had never seen that combination before. It sounds strange, but it really worked! The oysters, just try them, and you will have them again. Great food without great service leaves an experience unfulfilled. The service at Oak was exceptional! It was my wife's birthday, and I noted that on the online reservation. She was greeted at check-in with a happy birthday wish, the menu had "happy birthday" printed on it, and the dessert she ordered was brought to our table, as shown in the photo. The restaurant itself is lovely in a historic setting with 3 floors and a lot of classic, traditional touches. First things first, the service was wonderful. We had a reservation and were immediately sat by the hostess and greeted by our server. He gave us recommendations and told us half orders of the sides were available since it was only my husband and I. We had a glass of rose and a glass of red, nothing special but what you expect and at a place like this you expect to pay $15/glass. We ordered the New York strip, half orders of Brussels and mushrooms and the steak frites with truffle fries and bernaise sauce. The steaks were cooked very well which was great (it is a steakhouse), but honestly just tasted like pepper. The bernaise sauce was watery, cold and flavorless. The Brussels had some flavor, but nothing to knock your socks off and pretty much the same with the mushrooms. Honestly, the star of the show were the truffle fries. Crispy, lots of flavor and hot. You obviously have higher expectations when coming into an establishment such as Oak and sadly it let me down. There's other fabulous restaurants in Charleston and honestly other steakhouses I'd recommend. I'm glad we tried it, but I won't be rushing back.

Our bartenders were also phenomenal and really added to the experience. We came to celebrate during my birthday and started with a champagne flight, which was such a fun touch. For food, we ordered the steak and eggs and the Applewood bacon omelette. My girlfriend's steak and eggs were phenomenal. Truly no notes. Everything was cooked well, the pacing was great, and we never felt rushed. I ordered the Applewood bacon omelette, and this was really my only disappointment. There was almost too much bacon, which sounds ridiculous to complain about, but hear me out. The bacon was diced extremely fine, almost to the consistency of bacon bits, while the onions were left sliced. I think it would have worked much better if either the bacon had been cut a little larger or the onions had been diced down to match. The textures just felt mismatched. I could absolutely see the vision, and the flavor was there, but the execution was a little off. I ended up regretting my choice a little and wishing I had ordered the mushroom omelette instead. That is definitely what I'll be trying next time. I also wish there had been an option to substitute the home fries. This is definitely more of a personal preference, but home fries feel so overdone as a brunch side, and I would have loved another option. Those were really my only critiques in an otherwise fantastic experience. The atmosphere was beautiful, the bartenders were phenomenal, the pacing was great, and the food overall was delicious. Church and Union is absolutely somewhere I would come back to, whether for another celebration, brunch, or a date night.
