First Visit to Husk -- Worth Every Bit of the Hype After hearing so much about Husk over the years, we finally made our first visit--and somehow it still exceeded every expectation. Housed in a beautifully restored historic Charleston home, Husk perfectly captures everything you love about the city's charm. From the moment you walk through the doors, the atmosphere feels warm, elegant, and inviting. We were seated upstairs in a gorgeous dining room where the tables were thoughtfully spaced, making the experience feel intimate rather than crowded. The hospitality was outstanding from start to finish, but our server, Chris, truly made the evening unforgettable. He welcomed us with genuine enthusiasm and, after taking our cocktail orders, walked us through the menu--which changes daily. Rather than simply listing dishes, Chris described each one in detail, explaining the flavors, ingredients, and preparations with such passion that you couldn't help but get excited about every option. It's rare to meet someone who so clearly loves what they do, and his knowledge and personality elevated our entire dining experience. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo and the Woodfired Oysters. The tuna, paired with delicate slices of cantaloupe, sounded like an unusual combination on paper, but somehow it was absolute perfection. Every bite was fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The oysters arrived warm, buttery, and perfectly seasoned--simple, yet incredibly satisfying. For my entrée, I ordered the Seared Diver Scallops served over creamed corn. I'll admit, I was hesitant because creamed corn has never been one of my favorites. But after Chris encouraged me to trust the dish--and after seeing how incredible the appetizers were--I went for it. I'm so glad I did. The scallops were perfectly seared, tender, and sweet, while the creamed corn was rich, fresh, and nothing like the version I had imagined. It completely changed my mind. My husband chose the Rabbit Roulade, which was cooked beautifully with just the right amount of spice to keep each bite interesting without overwhelming the dish. We also shared the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread, and if you're debating whether to order it...don't. Just do it. It's absolutely worth it. Then came dessert. Chris walked us through several tempting options, including a mud pie, a watermelon ice pie, and a peach cobbler, along with Husk's house-made ice creams featuring flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie (plus a refreshing fruit sorbet). We settled on the Peach Cobbler along with scoops of the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie ice creams. Every single bite was phenomenal. The cobbler tasted like summer in a bowl, while both ice creams were so flavorful and creamy that we kept passing them back and forth trying to decide which one we liked better. Spoiler alert: we never could. From the stunning historic setting and exceptional service to the thoughtfully crafted food, Husk delivered an experience that reminded us why Charleston has become such an incredible food destination. If Husk has been sitting on your "one day" list, consider this your sign. Make the reservation. Trust your server. Order dessert. And enjoy every single bite.
We really enjoyed Husk! My husband & I dropped into the small bar area of husk for happy hour. It was a cute little bar with fabulous cocktails! I had a grapefruit cocktail & my husband had a fancy beer. The shaved ham on the burnt oak barrel was delicious. We really loved this place very high end feel
Husk is a beautiful restaurant located in downtown Charleston. It has two side by side locations, one with the full food menu and one that is only bar seating with a more concise menu. My husband and I went to the restaurant side which is a large, redesigned Victorian style house. We went in as in Walk -Ins but reservations are recommended. The service was fast and the food was phenomenal. The beef tartare was fresh, and easily shareable. Cocktails were brought out fast and both tasted delicious. The scallops and pork chop were some of the best we've had. The only slightly disappointing dish was the corn bread which was on the more dry side, however the collards more than made up for it. The only downside to this restaurant were the flies, I felt like I was battling both large and fruit flies my entire meal. There were so many. We were inside so I'm not sure where they were coming from. Would've been 5 stars had it not been for this.
This location came highly recommended by my hairstylist, who has exceptional taste in food. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a reservation at our usual dinner time, so we decided to try just a few items. We ordered the cornbread, which I had high hopes for; it was decently flavored but a bit on the dry side. The deviled eggs were delicious, though they were slightly too spicy for our liking. We finished them anyway. For dessert, we opted for the chocolate mint grasshopper dessert, which was absolutely phenomenal. Ordering drinks was a bit more challenging. Although they carry Licor 43, I was told they don't offer the Carajillo since they don't have coffee on-site. I found this strange because they did make an espresso martini for me. The waiter explained that they don't have the machine on-site but source nitro coffee from an alternative supplier. Overall, we were excited to try this restaurant due to all the positive reviews, but we found it a bit underwhelming, to be fair. We only sampled a few items.
Amazing again, Husk just nails it every time. The restaurant and grounds are beautiful, the service is fantastic, and the menu all sounds so amazing it's hard to decide what to get so you just have to get it all :) Our waiter Rob was very nice and you could tell he enjoyed his job; he was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. This is the place I look forward to the most when we visit Charleston and I can't imagine a better way to end our trip when we visit. This trip, my favorite items was the chicken liver mousse, wow. Can't wait to come back.
Impeccable brunch!! I had a reservation on a Sunday morning. I was promptly seated downstairs. The interior is feminine and beautiful. The service felt personal and welcoming. I tried the omelette which was stuffed with asparagus, Boursin cheese and caramelized onion. It was fluffy, light and salty. Also ordered a side of biscuits with strawberry jam which wasn't overly sweet and balanced out the butteriness. The husk mimosa was a hit as well. I'd definitely come back from brunch and curious to try for dinner!
Back to visit Charleston and back to Husk! A+ meal and service! 4 people with various proteins and everyone's dinner was so very good! I had whole flounder that was beyond delicious. See you next visit!
The wait was worth it. I've been wanting to come here for five years and I finally dined at this perfect restaurant on my recent trip to Charleston. We started off with drinks at the Husk bar next door and the drinks were phenomenal. We sat on the front porch of the restaurant until our table is ready and had a wonderful view of Queen Street. Everything about the meal was spectacular. We sat upstairs next to a window and had a great view of Queen Street again. We ordered the Grouper Cheeks and Tuna Crudo for appetizers and they were delicious. For dinner, our table ordered the scallops, tile fish, and brisket. Everything was amazing and I'm glad I finally made my way to Husk.
Husk it has been a while, glad to be back for brunch on Saturday July 4th!! Greeted by Hostess found our reservation right away and seated us promptly!! Our waiter was not far behind ready to take our drink order. Great laid back atmosphere!! Looked at the Menu and we were ready to order. Three of us went with the Fried Chicken with Chamomile Honey Buttermilk Biscuit and Pickles!! Oh So Good, the Fried Chicken is nice a crispy outside and juicy inside, Outstanding Flavor!! Our other guest had the Husk Cheeseburger with Fries, hey I got a little taste of the fries and they are frankly outstanding, perfectly seasoned!! Oh and the burger was fantastic as well! Husk you helped to make our July 4th Special, Thank You!! You easily earn these 5 Stars !! Keep it up!! I'll Be Back!!
Our Husk experience was outstanding! From the moment we were seated to the end we felt special and appreciated as a customer. Guy, our waiter was fantastic, as were all of the other supporting staff that kept our drinks filled and food served quickly. Pics speak a thousand words. Restaurant was very clean and great ambiance. Food was delicious!
We had dinner at Husk in the upstairs bar, which had a great atmosphere and background music (Blues). Loved the drinks, ham, pimento cheese, and Parker house rolls. Also had an amazing deconstructed strawberries and cream shortcake with freeze dried meringue. Will be back!
Husk was a fun experience. We sat outside on the upstairs balcony, which was quite lovely. The ambiance is a perfect Charleston feel. The service was ok, our waitress was not the most pleasant, but that's not a deal breaker. The food was very good. We had the biscuits as an appetizer. They were tasty, and the butter was phenomenal, however, for the price , I would expect more than 2 medium size biscuits. For our entree we had the burger. The burger patties are cooked with bacon, which gave them a unique but delicious flavor. It certainly was a lot of food with the fries, so we definitely had leftovers. Overall, our experience at Husk was very enjoyable. I would recommend it to anyone.
Went for the first time and it did not disappoint! Seems to me like a quintessential Charleston restaurant. We were able to get a reservation last minute and so glad we did! The inside is beautiful, the service was attentive. We got the crudo, tar tar, ribeye, skillet corn bread (like a warm hug), cabbage pancake with crab meat, and the scallops. We ordered 3 desserts- all were delicious. The ribeye was perfectly Cooked to our requested temperature, medium rare. Everything was delicious!
If you're looking for true southern flavors, executed to perfection, you have to go to Husk! This is by far one of the best restaurants I've been to in Charleston, and perhaps my favorite place I've been to this year so far! Every single detail is well thought out; the ingredients are locally sourced and of the best quality; the ambience is classy & inviting, perfect for a date night or intimate dinner with friends & family. The service is top of the line & they will go out of their way to give you the absolute best experience possible! The pastrami brisket is out of this world! It is so tender and packed with flavor! The potato salad is light & I love how small the bits are so you get a great bite every time! The deviled eggs are a fun shareable, & will probably be the best you've ever had! The ribs are also fall off the bone tender & have a great tang! The carrots are a great side to share for the table & if you're an Old Fashioned fan, you will absolutely enjoy Husk's! read more

Came in here on a Thursday night for a business dinner. Made reservations through Resy online. It was back to school week for CofC so had to go with 5:30. We parked in a parking garage right across the street. I think it was $10 to park. This is a farm to table kind of place so the menu changes regularly and it is limited. But the food is incredible. We started with deviled eggs and some sort of oyster app. I'm not much of an oyster guy but they were very good. The deviled eggs were excellent. For my main, I got a 22 ounce ribeye. It was $135! But... it was fantastic. Had mushrooms and some sort of sauce on it and pre sliced which was nice. For sides we got collard greens. They were tasty. Only knock - this is a "family friendly" restaurant. We were seated upstairs in a small room and there were 2 other parties with young children that must have missed their nap time. Yikes - the screaming. Highly recommend if farm to table to your thing. read more
Four? Five? years later, Husk is still one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. I absolutely loved my first meal here back in 2021, so returning this year with friends was a no-brainer. This time around I was dining with friends, which meant we got to order a whole bunch of dishes - a foodie's dream. We started with the Hunter Cattle Beef Tartare, topped with shoestring potatoes, smoked cheddar, and egg yolk jam. It was rich, flavorful, and while the presentation looked a bit like dog food, it was otherwise the perfect way to kick off the meal. For the table, we also shared the Roasted Carrots, served with chamomile honey, labneh, puffed rice, candied peanuts, and an olive crumble. I know, carrots aren't always a "must-order," but trust me - they were fantastic. We also couldn't pass up the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread with Broadbent bacon crumble mixed throughout. Southern comfort food!!! For my entree, I ordered the Blueberry & Corn Salad, which was anything but an ordinary salad. Between the BBQ pecans, ricotta salata, bacon fat honey mustard, and fresh seasonal ingredients, every bite was packed with flavor. One friend ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo with compressed cantaloupe, marigold, and leche de tigre. It was bright, refreshing, and beautifully plated. Our other friend opted for the South Carolina Golden Tilefish, served with Kindlewood Farms summer squash and serrano, and it, too, was a hit. For drinks, one friend enjoyed a glass of wine while I ordered the Dragoon Punch. I'll admit, I was a little disappointed to learn my beloved Primrose Path was no longer on the menu. I even asked if they could make one, but unfortunately they were missing one of the ingredients. No worries, the Dragoon Punch was delicious and a worthy replacement. Based purely on food, I would give this place a 3 star, but the amazing service bumped it up to a 4 star rating. First of all, it's a beautiful space. The converted house is airy, bright, and spacious. It seems that everyone had the same dishes on their tables for brunch, ie the shrimp & grits, and the fried chicken & waffles. I opted for the former, and pork dirty rice as I am a bit "fried chicken'd out" at this point of our southern trip. The grits were great, definitely lived up the hype. Meanwhile, the rice dish was really really spicy and I normally can handle spicy food quite well. Our server was so incredibly sweet and accommodating. She offered to bring another dish, or get me something else to go. She went above and beyond and I am super appreciative of her effort. Also tried the deviled eggs, which were just average and the oat griddle cakes, which were overly sweet. Overall, out of the four dishes we tried, I only liked one of them. I am a bit disappointed given its Michelin guide inclusion. read more

Southern brunch done right. Everyone at our table loved their dishes, especially the shrimp and grits and fried chicken and biscuits. The grits were creamy, not too heavy and complimented the shrimp perfectly. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, brined well with some subtle rosemary aromatics. Biscuit was fluffy but dense in all the right ways. Bloody Mary mix was seasoned well and let the tomato flavor shine. We also tried the coffee cake and deviled eggs - coffee cake was good and the deviled egg yolk mix was a bit denser than expected. Space is beautiful and we were seated upstairs and on a nice day so the French doors to the balcony porch was open. Service was friendly and prompt. One of our favorite meals of the trip, would return to try dinner! read more
Visited here for the first time this weekend as I saw how Christmassy it was and couldn't resist! And the Christmas decor did NOT disappoint! Was immediately seated at our reservation time and had the most lovely lady as our waitress. Service was amazing and everyone in there is very kind. Food was great, perfect portion sizes and timing of the food was ideal as well. The cornbread with the butter was so light and to die for and was the perfect pair to my pretty heavy pasta I ordered. After dinner we couldn't resist the bar right next door that was also decked out for Christmas. We were quickly seated in the cozy upstairs and had a great class of wine. If you go to Husk, you can't miss the bar! Will totally be back to both Husk establishments. read more
We arrived on a Saturday night we were able to get a table with no problem. We were not in the main building so I don't know the difference but what we had was great. I would recommend everything and they have a great wine list and drink list. Service was somewhat slow, but it was Saturday night and busy and maybe they were just letting us have table conversation? I would go here again and would highly recommend it. read more
SO and I were in Charleston for a few days and dined at Husk, one of Anthony Bourdain's stops. We started with the country ham and yellowfin crudo, both of which provided a variety of flavors and were fun to eat. For entrees, we had the scallops and wreckfish, both of which were perfectly seared and epitomized how seriously this establishment takes its seafood dishes. We probably would have had drinks and dessert if we could have gotten an earlier reservation, but we had an early flight back home the next morning. Bottom line, the food and service were excellent and four stars seems a tad low! read more
My wife and I recently went to Husk for a weekend dinner and had a good experience. We first went to Husk's patio and bar while we waited for our reservation, and got the field green salad and the Parker House rolls with pimento cheese and pickles. The pimento cheese with chili crisp and the pickles were the stars- the cheese was rich and creamy with a good flavor kick from the chili crisp, and the pickles were perfectly cured and seasoned. The Parker House rolls and the salad were OK, although unremarkable. The bar overall had a good ambiance, although the lighting was so dim that it was difficult to read our menu and order. Husk has a nice ambiance with low lighting and nice placesettings. Our service was fine, although it did take almost 25 minutes for our first dishes to come out despite the restaurant not being at capacity. I started with the skillet corn bread and was very excited as it was cooked with duck fat (something I've never seen before). However, I couldn't taste the duck fat, the cornbread was dry, it needed more butter, and it didn't pair well with other dishes. I got the chicken-fried rabbit for my main dish. The rabbit was well-cooked but not noteworthy. The gumbo had good flavor but was extremely salty, and the grits could have added more to the dish. This dish also needed more of a fresh vegetable and acid element to cut through the fattiness and heaviness of the gumbo, rabbit, and grits. I was pretty underwhelmed by the brunch. I had heard some amazing things about this restaurant and there was nothing really special about the meal. Especially with so many amazing restaurants downtown. Everything was good and the service was good, but nothing stood out to me. I think everyone at our table tried a different brunch dish. I think the deviled eggs were the best dish. I do want to come back and try the dinner menu instead of the brunch menu. read more

Husk absolutely lived up to the hype. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, with incredible attention to detail. This restaurant had the best scallop and Tilefish I have ever had. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere made for a memorable dining experience. Another delicious meal at Husk. This was my first brunch at Husk and we loved every minute!!! My friends and I went to Husk for brunch close to Christmas time and thank goodness we got there early! It was 2nd Sunday and it got really busy! I had the shrimp and grits and I could not have chosen better. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the flavors complemented each other well. We started with the deviled eggs and the biscuits-a perfect appetizer! The mimosas were good, but I felt like they overloaded the ice which minimized how much mimosa we actually got to enjoy. Right when you walk up to husk, you know it's going to be amazing. This restaurant is inside a plantation home. The host was extremely friendly and so was our server. We started with the tuna tartare and pimento cheese and biscuits with ham. Then we had scallops and the pastrami rubbed beef for dinner. Dessert.......don't sleep on these...omg. The Elvis ice box cake and yes it had bacon bits on it and then the German chocolate cake, which isn't a looker, but tasted amazing. Everything was top notch and you didn't need a knife for the pastrami rubbed beef. The app showstopper was the pimento cheese, biscuits, with ham. My wife doesn't like pimento cheese at all and she would had bathed in that it was so good haha. Absolutely go to this place! read more

Husk is still a favorite. We stopped in Charleston and snagged seats at Husk's adjoining bar. The bar (separate building) is as warm and as charming as the dining room. Catfish, collards, and dirty rice--perfect dinners. The Old Fashioneds help. Then--the complimentary lemon meringue was delightful. read more
What can I say, absolutely stellar experience tonight at Husks. Lovely ambience, wonderful service by Jeremy and even better food. Not a huge selection of options especially since I don't eat pork. Had to try the chicken liver and mushroom mousse to start the night. Followed by a shared entree of snapper. The flavor combo is just superb on both. Came here for dinner on a Tuesday and it was very busy, but we had a reservation. It's in a beautiful old house with nice decor, but the acoustics were terrible. We could hear everything everyone else was saying, and it was difficult to hear others at our own table. The rock music did not help the cacophonous ambience. We ordered the deviled eggs which were tasty and the mushrooms. Some mushrooms came in a creamy sauce which tasted fine, but the other mushrooms were fried and bland. Our entrees were the rabbit, snapper, and scallops with sides of dirty rice, grits, and cabbage. The meat was tender and there were some nice flavors. The dishes were all decent, but very rich and heavy. So, if you like the feeling of that in your stomach, this place is for you. Our server was nice but a bit officious. A perfect spot for all the friends to gather and bid farewell after a weekend celebrating a friend's wedding. We walked quite a bit and decided to try this place. They have seating in two different buildings and outside as well. The building I was in was brick and it was very well maintained. A very old building with great care and maintenance. Our server did great! Friendly and quick. He was super informative, going to the chef with any questions he couldn't answer. The food was great! Super great flavors. I have no regrets and I really thing y'all should give them a try. read more

If they have an opening they do accept walk-ins but they tend to be fully booked.

Yes it is. I'd recommend calling in advance so they seat you in the rooms more accessible at the door. It's a spacious restaurant with various areas.
Is there a dress code?
Most people dress nicely to enjoy a meal at this restaurant - however I don't believe management specifically states a level of dress in order to dine there.
Do they offer Vegetarian entrees?
I do know their menu changes often. Weekly perhaps. You could probably order a "vegetable platter " and not be disappointed. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
