May 2024 - Grilled Whole Squid & Rice (INI-WOW VALUE MEAL)
    Lea L.

Grill City is located inside of Seafood City Supermarket in Oxnard. I've only been inside the store a couple of times & there's always a line at Grill City. Don't let the line steer you away, it goes quick. If you have someone else waiting in line with you, you can go check out what food they have that day, while the other person waits. It makes the line go smoothly if you know what you want ahead of time. Also, if you're new to trying Filipino food, you have some time to google some of the Filipino items if you're too reserved to ask. Haha... It's Cafeteria style, where you wait in line, pick all of your food items & they box it up for you. You can order your desserts & grab drinks too. Then you pay for everything. There's plenty of tables inside to eat there. TIP: It helps to grab a tray when it's your turn to order, especially when ordering more than you can carry. I appreciate the diversity of patrons in line & those that were dining in... I love that the Filipino Culture is finally getting some recognition here!! We ordered 2 Value Meals, which had a choice of Grilled entree + an additional food item. It was more than plenty for the 3 of us to share. They give you a generous serving of rice. We were happy with our order & our bellies were happy & stuffed. The lady who rang us up was cheerful, nice & appeared super eager to be there. We don't get that that often nowadays. I Love how she gave off positive vibes. We need more just like her. Please Keep it up!

I was so impressed when I walked into Seafood City supermarket. It is clean and has such a wide variety of Asian goods. The mugs are adorable!! The bakery had so many items that I will need to go back to try. After looking around at all the people ordering their food at Grill City, we decided we had to try it. The workers were kind, although be aware that you will have a language barrier with some employees. After much consideration, the menu is extensive, I settled on the pancit and pork skewer. It also came with white rice as a combo meal. The price felt moderate, 12.00 for all that is pictured. Everything was going well until I realized that my pancit had shrimp in it. I am allergic!!! I was disappointed that the sign did not say this was a seafood dish!!! Or at least not translated. What had been a pleasant experience turned into a scare and trying to get benadryl as soon as possible. So because of that I am giving the 4 stars. I will be contacting management to alert them of this very high risk for potential injury to their customers. But overall the food was delicious, the other platters looked tasty and I would like to go back and give it another try, with a friend to translate .

We waited so impatiently for Seafood City to open and all of its restaurants to open. Naturally we had to stop and eat at Grill City. Delicious, authentic Filipino food. It's not fine dining cuisine, but worth every penny. We got the Whole Grilled Squid Meal with the Adobo Pusit. The squid had a nice char to it with just the right amount of chewiness. Goes very well w/ the vinegar and chili sauce. Huge cafeteria-style dining. Lots of classics - pancit, lumpia, kare kare, crispy pata, etc. And of course, halo halo. Plenty of seating options, and not too busy when we came for lunch during the week. Staff were very efficient. Easy parking. Good time.

The breakfast buy one get one is an amazing deal. They do run out fast around 8:45. I wish it was longer time for breakfast

There are no fancy contracts, no drama, and no surprises--just a handshake, a date, and a headcount. I tell Wayne when we're eating and how many mouths we need to feed, and he shows up on time, fully prepared, and ready to deliver. That kind of reliability is rare, and it means everything when you're feeding a large group. The food is consistently excellent, the service is smooth, and the whole operation reflects pride, experience, and family values. You can tell this is a family-owned business that genuinely cares about doing things right. When you find people you can trust completely, you stick with them--and that's exactly why we'll continue to use It's in the Sauce for future reunions. Highly recommended without hesitation.

Very average BBQ…read more.. I'm a self-admitted BBQ purist, impartial to NC BBQ, but have also had some of the best BBQ in TX (Terry Blacks, Goldees, and Franklin), and this is simply not TX BBQ. The restaurant is situated off the beaten path in the business district, but it's impossible to miss with the huge smoker sitting out front. It's a small restaurant with just a few tables and the ordering situation is a bit wonky (just one small window to order and pickup from). The staff was ultra-friendly and the food came out quick. As for the food, it was just okay... The BBQ itself wasn't bad, but it was definitely precut and kept in warmers (this would give a pit master down in TX a myocardial infarction as this is a huge "no no"); the sides were actually really good though. The total was about $30 for lunch, which to me was a bit high based on the quality of the BBQ. Overall... Not bad, not great, but not certainly TX BBQ.

Told him the beans were off and had the nerve to lie and say they were made the morning of ! It smelled like spoiled milk! I really didn't even tell him because I wanted money back but PLEASE DONT SERVE THAT TO NO ONE ELSE! I spent over 100$ 120$ the least I expected was no spoiled food. Everything was ok not amazing but we really don't have great soul food in Ventura county this one is a tad better than cjs but still mid, just trek yourself to la for more decent options or somewhere else because this ain't it! I used to like this place some what but the guy in there is different, he had an attitude while naming off my items and showing me what I got, they put cat fish in my bag and told him I didn't get that and said I did, and then I pointed out the receipt stapled on the bag and not even an apology! Then forgot my yams anyways. This place needs new staff whole heartedly even saw him arguing with someone else in the back. HE DOES NOT NEEED OR SHOULD NOT BE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. Amen. Edited: I'm starting to feel sick and the peach cobbler does not taste right . He called me to berate and argue with me after this post. Don't come here if you want to have a decent day.
