My husband and I tried this place on a random weeknight and it was insanely good! Totally a hole in the wall - in a random strip mall type gem. The lumpia was perfect; we demolished it! I will forever come here whenever I want lumpia. The chicken was AMAZING! I have never had broasted chicken before and I am now obsessed. It was so good in fact that I came back the next week and ordered a party platter of 50 pieces to take to a fourth of July party that I was going to. Bringing that chicken was the right call, everyone loved it. The guy taking our order was so personable and very chill. We felt so welcome and the food was awesome. There was plenty of parking. The inside of the restuarant is small and doesn't have very much seating, but there is outdoor seating. My SO has been raving about this place. So while down in Camarillo shopping at the Outlet, we decided to come here and have some broasted chicken. Ordering was easy enough. The menu is above the register. Prices are not that bad. My SO didn't want to over order so he just ordered 2 pcs of chicken and what comes with it. Chicken was good. Tasty and cooked just right. I was having a chicken craving. I thought to myself, I haven't had Broasted Chicken in a while. With it being National Filipino Food Month in April. I just had to go, & get me some chicken! Located in Port Hueneme (near the beach on Ventura Rd & Port Hueneme Rd). This lil Filipino restaurant offers a few Filipino staple dishes. Mainly known for their Broasted Chicken (which is their method of cooking it). It was around 4pm on a Saturday, so of course they ran out of Coleslaw, so they offered me a potato wedge instead. It's a big potato wedge btw! The chicken is made to order, so it can take about 20 mins. Maybe longer if it's busy. While waiting for my To-Go Order, I overheard several phone calls for phone orders. I'll definitely do a phone order pick up next time! You can dine here, they only have 2 booths inside & a couple small ones out in front. I haven't dined here & this was my first time coming into the shop. I only had Broasted Chicken at parties, so I was excited to have my Chicken fresh & hot when I got home. I definitely recommend their chicken! The Chicken is pretty juicy & was even good the next day. I haven't had anything else. So this review is based on just the Chicken... If you ask me, this tiny little Filipino-owned restaurant way down in Port Hueneme has the Best Fried Chicken in Ventura County. Hell, it might be the Best in the Southern California. Maybe even the Best in the whole damned State. All I know is I've certainly never had any better, and I eat a hell of a lot of fried chicken. Ok, lemme start off with the name, Broasted Chicken, specifically the Broasted designation. Broasted chicken is chicken that has been deep fried in a specialized pressure cooker called a Broaster. Since the chicken is cooked under pressure, it cooks much faster than other method of frying. It comes out crispy AF on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. Just FYI, Kentucky Fried Chicken is cooked in a pressure cooker too, but they can't call theirs Broasted because the Broaster Company holds the trademark on the "Broasted" name. It's not just the way it's cooked that makes this chicken so good. The chicken itself they use here is very high quality. And the breading, wow, the breading! The breading on this chicken is so delicious that when I finish eating a piece of chicken I invariably find myself turning it over and over until I'm sure I've picked off every last tiny golden morsel of it. But I stop there. That's as far as I go. I definitely do not gnaw on those chicken bones like some uncivilized savage. Ok, I gnaw a little bit on the bones too. Why I'm gonna lie? Now, being a Filipino-owned spot, you know they're gonna have some Filipino specialties up in here. Hell yes! However, these specialties are only available on certain days, and only until they sell out (and they always sell out, so get here early if you're planning on trying them). They feature Adobo on Mondays and Tuesdays, Beef Sinigang w/ Rice on Wednesdays, and Kare-kare on Saturdays. Oh, and they have Boba Drinks and Halo Halo too! I haven't tried most of the Filipino Specialties because I'm all about that Broasted Chicken goodness. So far I've only had the pancit and the lumpia (both quite good!) but I'll bet all their other Filipino specialties are wonderful too. How could they not be? The Specialty I most want to try is their Broasted Ribs. The Ribs only available on Thursdays and Fridays. Seems like they're always Sold Out by the time I get there. But one of these days Ima get there early and get me some! I should probably mention this place is tiny, just a couple small tables. It's tiny and almost devoid of ambiance. I almost always get my order to go and eat it in my car. Wherever you eat it, be careful when you take a bite because this chicken is served up hot as hell. So hot that even when I drive all the way home before I get into it, and I'm always amazed the chicken is still fairly hot. And that's after a 20-25 minute drive. Amazing. This one is simple. The food is great. It's a little small spot and put my name, and you may have to get your food to go, but the variety is significant and everything is delicious. I have been eating KFC since I don't know when. I have never found a reason to go elsewhere. When I moved to Hueneme, my son told me about this place. I decided to go there one day. Everyone is friendly there. They treat you like family. That's enough for me to want to go to a place. But, the chicken, DAMN. I went home and ate some the first time I went. Their chicken is so tasty and does not have the grease. It tastes homemade as opposed to corporate. The chicken is fresh and delicious. I won't go anywhere else now. The fried chicken here is not just chain fried chicken. It is Filipino/Asian seasoned fried chicken, made by a mom/pop owned shop. The seasoning shines through because the focus of the seasoning is on the meat, and not just the batter. The skin is crispy without being too thick with batter. And the meat is so SO juicy from the broasting method they use. But we don't just come here for the fried chicken. They have some of the best lumpia (egg rolls) around, waaaaay better than those at Seafood City for sure. They also have other Filipino food, but we haven't tried those because we always focus on the fried chicken and lumpia. Coleslaw is loaded with creamy mayo based dressing, but I like it that way. Rolls and fries are ok, not what we come here for. And the service is also great, friendly, and personable, like a mom/pop shop should be. We drive about half an hour to get chicken here, even with KFC across the street. Wait time can be long because they fry the chicken when you order, part of the reason why its so dang good, so call and order ahead if you can. read more

The broasted chicken thighs are juicy and super crispy. I recommend going with the white rice and bringing your own sauces as they are missing sauce options. Chick-Fil-A sauce or banana catsup would have been awesome. I definitely appreciate a restaurant with lots of condiment options. They only handed me one pack of soy sauce (maybe for the chicken or rice?) and a container of chili sauce for the lumpia. The pancit was lacking flavor and a little bland. I don't think they don't use meat or chicken broth to make it, but it definitely was lacking the usual flavor I am accustomed to. If you're Filipino, you probably ask for banana catsup which they don't have. So you'll probably want to swing by Island Pacific for some banana catsup to eat with your chicken. The Thursday/Friday broasted ribs were on the tough side. I think spareribs are better cooked low and slow so the meat falls off the bone. The service was very friendly and welcoming. If I lived in the area, Broasted Chicken would make my rotation of regular restaurants for takeout. One of the essential Ventura County restaurants is in Port Hueneme. read more

The broasted chicken is perfection. Not too much batter, but very crispy on the outside and moist, juicy meat inside. Love how you can get a Filipino combo (with good pancit and lumpia) or regular with potatoes. I'll be back to try some of the Filipino dishes like their kare-kare (stew made with peanut sauce, one of my favorite Filipino dishes--mainly for the sauce), adobo, empanadas, etc. My sister and I each had a Filipino combo plate (I preferred the two wings combo). She ordered a strawberry smoothie (they ran out of boba). Mom ordered her favorite Filipino dessert--halo halo, and declared it to be better than the halo-halo served at both Seafood City and Island Pacific. Solid, delicious food, friendly service. In the short time we were there, there was a steady stream of customers, mainly for takeout, who seemed to be locals as the staff knew their names and ordering preferences. The only reason why I'm giving four and not five stars is that the interior is a bit dark and old. Not much seating and only light comes in through the doorway. But there are benches right outside adjacent to the parking lot, so when the weather is nice, better to sit outside. With some updating to the interior, I would definitely give it a five.
