Carried out from Grill House yesterday. Husband had burger and fries. He said it was good. Burger was on a brioche bun. He generally likes just plain old hamburger buns. I had the chop cold cut salad. It was huge with an abundant of meat, cheese etc. This was only for me. I wished they had this in a smaller size- that would have been perfect. I used to order food from this place every week. Sometimes even twice a week. NOT EVER AGAIN! I experienced the worst possible treatment from some of their employees. If they employ such crazy people, who knows how they prepare the food and what we are actually eating! I decided to order food for Thanksgiving. It was showing that the restaurant was open, so I ordered food. I came to pick up food and there was a car in front of me. I parked my car behind and I was talking on the phone. I wanted to finish the phone call and go get the food. My card was charged, so I thought everything was fine. All of the sudden, hear a man screaming like crazy, I was not able to figure out where the screams were coming from. I was very worried by the screams. All of the sudden something drops on my car. I came out and saw two guys on the restaurant's roof screaming like crazy. Going just insane with screams. He is screaming that the restaurant is closed. He kept screaming at me "closeeeeeeeeeeedddddddddd, closeddddddddddd..... The restaurant is closed, you will get your money in 24 hours. Unbelievable!!! This man was not well, screaming like crazy at me, throwing things at my car. Absolutely nuts! I will never order food from there again if they employ such unstable, crazy people who treat customers this way. That is too bad because the food is very good. read more

Yesterday 4/28/19 was Greek Easter. Our family member catered some dishes from grill house. I must say my expectations weren't that high after seeing a segment on Chanel 9 where they made an avgolemono soup. The segment itself was a little cheesy. But I must say once again, the cliche statement warn true...!!!!! never judge a book by its cover. The food was absolutely, positively AMAZING . We had pastichio, gyro , and there house made tzatziki. No grease In the gyro meat, the pastichio was cheesey , I even think there mite of been a little mozzarella(not traditional) and the tzatziki is tart , obviously made with real (tart) Greek yogurt. We will definitely go try the rest of the food. I urge everyone to try it! Great job ! read more

I fell into this place that just opened Labor Day weekend. So glad I did. Not too much around this are in Northbrook, so should be a great addition. Lots of salads, wraps, sandwiches, and souvlaki. I decided to try them on their homemade chicken gyros. The chicken had lots of grilled flavor, abundant, and very tasty. Wrap was good too. I got honey mustard for it and it was excellent. More like a chicken shwarma but I'm good with it. Also, went for the Sweet potato waffle fries. Homemade and delicious. Definitely will be coming back to try some other items. read more

This place is trash. They spent a lot of money making it look very nice, however the ownership sucks. Here's what had happen. I got there and was very impressed with the look. They had the fish on special. It looked very good, a fried piece of white fish is always very good. I receive my fish and it was super greasy. It happens when the oil is not hot enough and you put the breaded fish in it. The breadcrumbs soak up all the oil. Also it was very fishy tasting with rubbery fat along the edges. I wish I took a picture because i know a lot of people don't believe me. It was 17 dollars so I decided to say somthing. I spoke with ownership who said, ok what else would u like. I told him just a chicken wrap. He didn't give me my full money back, he just gave me the difference. He never apologized or asked if there was anything else he could do. I got the chicken wrap and the chicken was barley trimmed or chopped up. It looked like he went to Costco and got those huge chicken breast and just plopped it on the grill. The chucks were huge, not bite size. This place needs to be shut down! He never even came by himself. He just hid in the back. Terrible restaurant! read more

I went in to Grill House today to pick up for lunch, and although they have a very large menu selection (which is great), it is very expensive!! I paid $23 for a salad with steak, soup and drink. For the type of place it is, it is very expensive! The food is okay, for a $14 salad I would expect more toppings. The steak was overcooked. They need to have combo specials for lunch. Not sure if I would return as the price is very off putting. read more

They opened yesterday. We ordered salads and grinder sandwiches. Lou, and his staff, were very kind, efficient and friendly. We just hoped the food would be good. They did not disappoint. The salad was very large, fresh and delicious. Presentation was nice as well. The grinder was tasty and hot. Merkt's cheddar fries- need I say more? Today we had Grecian chicken dinner and chicken pita. Chicken dinner was moist and flavorful. In addition to the chicken, grecian potatoes, rice, vegetables AND warm pita were wonderful. But wait- there's more. It also included a salad or soup. So much deliciousness. I hope Grill House does well. It is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. In addition to regularly carrying out delicious gyros plates and salads, we used Grill House to cater for my kiddo's birthday for 20 adults and 10 kids. Lou and Grill House were great to work with, ensuring we had the right amount and variety of food, confirming details in the week ahead of the party, and even accommodating an early pickup so that we had hot food in hand plenty ahead of an 11AM start time. I appreciated that they did not try to oversell and it ended up being the perfect amount of food. We received many compliments from guests and several of the kids were in love with the chicken tenders. Both of the gyros options are great and I'm impressed at how juicy the chicken gyros meat always is. The Orchard Salad has a great mix of savory and sweet toppings. This is a good place to have in the neighborhood for a quick meal and great service. I got the chicken gyro to try. The chicken gyro was more like a shawarma, but the flavor was food and it wasn't dry. The tzatziki sauce was also very good. I also tried the spaghetti marinara and it was good. We really like this place, been here a handful of times. The bf & I split the whole Greek chicken on last few visits and it tastes close to what Yia Yia used to make! The chicken rice soup is not too bad either but could use a little more flavor. Cheeseburgers are really good too. We like it for a fast casual place to eat where we can choose healthier options. (or get a cheeseburger & fries for "off" days) Place seems clean and staff usually friendly. Would recommend giving it a try! read more

My kids love their food and we occasionally order from them. Yesterday was very unpleasant experience. I have ordered 2 kids cheeseburger well done with everything on it but once we came home and opened it it was medium with nothing on it. I ordered the chicken souvlakia dinner again. They changed things up again. Back to the pager system. The bald guy asked me for my pager. I gave it to him. Big mistake. I was waiting for my salad. I saw the chicken souvlakia sitting on the counter getting cold. There was no salad. How was the dinner ready and the salad wasn't? I watch the plate sit there. Not sure if it was mine. The guy was no where to be found. Two minutes later he showed up and was confused as to whose food it was and sure enough after realizing he brought it to my table. It's just ridiculous. I told the guy never again. And once again my food was cold. How complicated can it be? They really need to get this straighten out. read more

We went with a family group of 5 and spent $85 between us for what is basically just a fast-food place. That is excessive. They have a somewhat strange setup since you go the counter to place your order and pay, then they give you a pager, which is almost immediately grabbed by what seems to be a waiter, but is actually a guy who hovers around and asks constantl\y if everything is ok to a degree that is excessive and disturbing. It would seem that service should be great then, right? Not really. First I went to get myself what is labeled as ICED tea but is actually hot tea. I filled my cup and the hoverer asked if I wanted ice. I said no, but took a tiny sip and found out the iced tea is some sort of DIY watered down with melted iced tea. The hoverer kept telling me to push my cup under the ice. I was going to just catch some in my had to add it gently, but he kept saying "push the cup!" I did and of course, hot tea splashed all over and I told him that is what I wanted to avoid. I had the steak grinder which seemed to have very little steak, especially for $17. My daughter had a gyro plate which did not come with the rice and Greek potatoes that she ordered. She had to go ask for it. No hoverer then. Her husband ordered a beef sandwich with cheddar and cheddar fries. What he got was a cold beef with a slice of cheddar on top and fries with a cup of shredded cheddar on the side. He had to ask the hoverer to have them heat up the beef and melt the cheese. My mother ordered a beef with a piece of extra french bread because she turns one into two sandwiches. They did not give her the extra bread, which had cost $1.75. Her guy had to go ask for it. He had the ribs which he said were mostly fat and had to be cut from the bones because they were not cooked well. As it turns out, both my grinder and mothers beef had all the meat pushed to one end. So my last 3 bites had most of the steak and cheese and she nearly abandoned her two meal plan because she didn't seem to have enough beef until she got near the end of hers. My daughter had to change drinks because the flavored water tasted odd. After being asked repeatedly if everything was ok, I finally asked to speak to the manager and explained all our issues. He agreed that it was all bad and yet did nothing to compensate us. He just said, "This is inexcusable and I'm sorry things were so bad. We need to do better. I will talk to everyone." Something as simple as the offer of a free dessert or a tiny refund would have been nice, although that's not why we complained. As it is the 5 of us will never return. read more

Grill House is definitely a step-up from similar restaurants. At first glance it's might seem like a basic counter service restaurant. But the service was especially friendly and attentive and my food came out quickly and accurately. I had an absolutely terrific Chop Salad with grilled salmon as my added protein. The portions of the "premium" ingredients were generous, with crumbled feta cheese that looked like a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, and generous slices of fresh sliced avocado. Everything was fresh and delicious. The salmon was nicely grilled and also a nice-sized portion. A Coke Freestyle fountain is always fun, too. I don't know how I've missed this gem before but I will definitely be back. read more

I really enjoyed my family's visit! The chicken philly was perfectly cooked and presented on a toasted roll. Great proportions of chicken, veggies and cheese. Our group of 10 all enjoyed their meals. On her way back from shopping, my wife stopped by to use a $16 coupon for a whole chicken dinner for 2 that included a salad, steamed veggies, two pitas, Grecian Potatoes and rice pilaf. The salad was barely a single portion, certainly not a salad for two, so little that we had to supplement it with lettuce that we had in the fridge. The quartered chicken was tasty and had a fairly good amount of white meat, however the dark meat (the part that I eat) was tiny as if it came from a pigeon. The 2 pitas were small, but there was a nice amount of rice and veggies. Would we try it again? Probably not as we could have purchase a much larger whole chicken from Costco for around $7 and microwaved some side dishes from the freezer. Perhaps they should double the size of the salad (which would likely cost them another 15 cents) and ensure that the chickens were a bit larger (maybe another 50 cents at their cost). Using a discount coupon, you might find it worthwhile if you are in a hurry and pressed for an easy dinner. read more

I read thru the reviews and the couple of low ratings saying the food is bland and they very much appear to be local competition feeling intimidated by this place. We have eaten here three times. First time we both ordered the gyros and it is the only place that rivals chuckwagon's gyros (in Wilmette). They get a nice crisp on the meat, fresh pita, and made in house. Fantastic. Next time I ordered the skirt steak sandwich... Delicious, cooked perfectly, and the garlic bread they use is perfect. She ordered the steak Philly... A steak Philly from a Greek place that is better than the few places in the north burbs that attempt to be authentic is almost bizarre. Stuffed full of quality thinly sliced steak and they do these roasted green peppers on them that I would even order as a side dish. The third time I picked up and got the souvlaki (really really tasty) and she the chicken Philly. U won't find a chicken Philly as good unless u r in Rogers Park and go to eastern style. Their fries are great (not cold like one reviewer mentioned unless u r picking up and driving 15 minutes home when it is 3 degrees. That happened to me btw and I put them in the toaster and they came out even better than out of the fryer eating there) oh and did I mention they use merkts for their cheese fries? The saganaki sticks are good and should be tried but is the only thing we probably wouldn't be in a rush to order again. I wasn't crazy about the breading personally. The cheese, though, is exactly what u get when u yell OPA at a good sit down Greek restaurant. The most ludicrous thing I read in the reviews is the comparison to dengeos. Lmao. Dengeos does a good hotdog and fries. The rest of their food is inedible from the burgers to the gyros. Seriously, go order their gyro and then grill house's and then private message me. Tasty food and a great value on many of the items - the kebabs and salads rock as does the gyros and chicken gyros. Also have tried the falafel which is really good too. The best value is by far on the whole Greek chicken dinner for $15- it's good and plentiful. Give these guys a try- wish they had hand cut fries but hopefully one day soon. I've been there maybe a dozen times and everything we've had has been super fresh. read more
