    Kabobs on the grill
    Sydney G.

Ok wow! What a hidden gem. I came in and got a kobeeda kabob platter to go for lunch and it so delicious. The kabob was made to order and came with really tasty rice, salad, stewed chickpeas, and flat bread. It was a huge amount of food for relatively cheap and it only took about 10 minutes to prepare. The guy at the register was super patient with me and when I picked up my order they threw in plenty of sauces for me. I'll definitely be back

I have seen this local chain all over the place and decided to try it for lunch. The chicken was tender but not as juicy as I have had at other places. The flavor was good and I like how they include a large piece of bread and chickpeas to go with it. Is it my favorite kabob place? No, but it is pretty decent a solid spot for lunch.

Food was delicious! My husband ordered the lamb shank. The meat fell right off the bone and was delicious. He also enjoyed the rice, lentils and salad that came with the meal as well. I had the chicken kabob platter. My chicken was well seasoned and cooked. I enjoyed the chickpeas that came on the side. Overall, food was great, service was quick and the restaurant was kept clean. We will be adding this restaurant to our list of stops we enjoy while traveling. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5

My cousin and I found this spot on our final day in DC and im so sad we didn't find it earlier!! They have a paper menu with pictures on it which is great for a visual person like me! Food was made fresh to order and absolutely fantastic. I got the chicken kabob platter with an order of veggie samosas and my cousin got the falafel platter with fries. Both came with a small cup of chickpeas, a giant piece of naan, rice, and a salad with ranch dressing. My I wish I would have paid closer attention to what came with the platter but I was starving and just ordered. I have a dairy allergy and didn't know it came with a salad that was drizzled with ranch and the chicken was placed on top. To be safe, I just didn't eat the 2 chicken pieces that had ranch on it but something to be mindful of if you have an allergy! The chicken platter was fantastic. The chickpeas were delicious, especially when dipping the naan in. The samosas were so good I got 2 more orders to take back to the hotel with me. My cousin also enjoyed her falafel and fries! Will be coming back the next time im in DC!!

I will visit this specific location every time I'm in DC. The owner has made such an impression on me. As soon as you walk in they greet you with warmth and smiles. The food is so fresh, chicken always tender, not lacking any flavor! The music and lighting is an added touch to the overall experience. Check them out if you are in DC. F at location!

I have pretty high expectations for kabob places, and overall, it didn't disappoint. The lamb kabob was cooked to perfection and the rice was very flavorful. The only hiccup was that we initially didn't receive any sauces with our meal. I asked them about sauces and was given a green sauce, but it wasn't until much later that I noticed all other tables also having a white sauce and that would've elevated the dish more.

After touring the DC area by mostly foot, we drew up quite the appetite. Everything we had was delicious. I think the salmon meal was on the pricer end, but everything was very filling. The breads are made fresh and you can actually see the chefs making it. It is order up and have to get the food from the counter. Staff were nice and helpful and told us about the specials too.

    Kobeeda and Chicken Kabob

This place looks okay. Food was meh. The Kobeeda was really well seasoned and then absolutely ruined by the over seasoning of chili powder when they cooked it. Not sure if they confused chili powder and saffron, but it made the food almost inedible. The tzatziki sauce, was not. It tasted like seasoned mayonnaise and was awful. Naan was delicious! Only win here.

Even the vegetarians in our group were raving about the food. We ordered the lamb merguez, mushroom hummus, eggplant appetizer, and a family-style spread of soltani kebab, lamb kebab, and chicken barg. Everything was packed with flavor and beautifully prepared. The portions are HUGE, so definitely plan to share. I also loved the fresh sabzi served with pita--it was such a simple but delicious addition. The mocktails were excellent as well and paired beautifully with the food. Service was outstanding. We were a large group, and the team took excellent care of us with quick, attentive, and friendly service throughout. The ambience is fantastic, with a rustic, warm vibe that makes the restaurant feel both lively and inviting. Between the incredible food, generous portions, and excellent service, Rumi's Kitchen is an easy recommendation and a place I'd happily return to.

A recent visit to DC with some dear friends provided the perfect opportunity to check out their branch here and assess how it compares to the original. Happily, I found the food here essentially equivalent to what I sampled at the Atlanta locations, that is, excellent. We started with the sabzi and bread service, which pairs Rumi's excellent and freshly baked Persian style naan with fresh herbs and feta cheese, which makes for a light and refreshing start to the meal. Our appetizers comprised the lamb hummus, the fatoush salad, kashk-bademjan eggplant dip, and the duo of yogurts. All were great, with the classic, creamy eggplant and the tangy, cooling yogurt duo standing out for me personally. We ordered three entrees, including the lamb kebab, beef soltani combination, and the duck fesenjan stew. All the kebabs possessed a juicy texture, great seasoning, and had an excellent cook. The duck had a tangy sweet flavor profile that may not be for everyone but was nonetheless satisfying with rice. Speaking of the rices, the fluffy grains complimented all of our dishes well and we particularly enjoyed the dill-fava bean as well as the lentil-raisin renditions. Do note that portions here are generous, and splitting entrees is suggested especially if you opt for a decent number of appetizers as we did. Special mention should be made of the cocktails at Rumi's. While I personally did not have a mixed drink, my friends all raved about the flavor profiles of their libations and found them refreshing and balanced relative to others we had in the city. Service here meets the high standard I experienced at the Atlanta locations, and our waitress was helpful and attentive. The space itself is bright and strikes a great balance between rustic Persian accents and more modern, swanky touches. Overall, Rumi's offers a well rounded Persian dining experience with great food, drinks, service, and ambiance which is hard to beat. It's well worth a visit for any fan of Middle Eastern flavors, and my wife and I are already planning our next meal here.

The service is as one would expect of any upscale restaurant; responsive, attentive and courteous. The menu offered a variety of dishes that would satisfy, dare I say, any and all types of diets. With a touching backstory and Michelin accolades, Lapis upholds its reputation offering modern Afghan cuisine and highly shippable drinks. We had to flag down various servers throughout the evening, as we were never checked on. Arrogant and condescending servers when we got their attention.
