1st time today at about 1pm, my man and I ordered the bbq combo plate, him- ribs, me- tri tip, both with potatoe salad and chili beans. The beans were the highlight of the plate for me, best I've had in a while, flavorful and seasoned good (no jalapenos like in the other yelp pictures) the tri tip was thinly sliced and easy to chew, it if we're any thicker though, it would have been tough. The potato salad had BIG chunks of red potatoes and was bland. My man said his first couple of ribs were tender the others were tough. Bbq sauc e had a strong chili powder taste to it. Seems like the best deal is the combo plate being that the sanwich/burger combos were only about $.50 cheaper. Still on the hunt for a 5 star bbq joint. read more

I ordered chili cheese fries with onions (wish there was more chili on the fries but overall yummy!) my husband ordered a combo place 1/2 ribs 1/2 tri tip and his two sides were macaroni salad and rice pilaf (everything was so flavorful minus the rice pilaf) overall great food! Today we had the boneless skinless chicken breast. It has a marvelous and distinctive smokey taste. We got the very last piece so we got pulled pork too. The pulled pork was perfect too. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because The fries are frozen. The spicy Barbeque sauce is PLENTY spicy! It made my nose run freely which is a very good sign! read more

Went here yesterday. Never been here before or tried then before. Got a full rack of ribs and 2 tri tip plates. The tri tip is the best I've ever had. Ribs were very good as well. Tried both bbq sauces. The sweet one is BOMB. They have a spicy one. I thought it can't be that bad how spicy can it be? Holy shit. This place has excellent BBQ, I honestly dont understand the lower reviews. Their ribs were crazy flavorful, succulent and fall off the bone moist. The sauce, which I prefer thicker than thinner, is great! The hot one is legit hot, and I like spicy food, so look out. Their sides were just as flavorful and well made as their ribs. definitely added to the plate and did not distract or detract from the ribs. Awesome food! My husband was down in Fresno for training for 3 weeks. The only food he raved about was the tri tip sandwich. He said they gave generous portions of meat and the BBQ sauce really sealed the deal. After his training and on his way home, he stopped by this place and picked up dinner for the family before heading back to the bay area. I have to say, after trying it myself, that my husband hit the mark with this place. The tri tip had delicious flavor and it was tender. The ribs were also finger licking good. I just ate here, my wife and I each got a tri-tip sandwich and side of fries. It's really nothing great. The tri-tip was decent but over seasoned. For the price the sandwich and side of fries is really small. I couldn't put my finger in if it was the meat or barbecue sauce but there was a grainy feel taste/texture to the food that was kind of off putting. Was at this restaurant yesterday (Saturday) at 1235 hours. There is a note on the door stating that this is not a "Fast-food Restaurant) Both Mother and I ordered the Rib Plate, with two sides. Order placed at 1237 hrs, and we got our food at 1:15. (38 minutes) I have to say, the ribs were excellent, and the sides were OK. Went here on Yelp recommendations. Just can't agree with the reviews. The BBQ sauce was grainy (ewww). I asked for a fresh bottle just in case the bottle on the table was the issue, but to no avail, it's the sauce. The meat (ribs) I found to be incredibly dry and not tender. I also ordered a burger to go for my son and he loved it. They don't have garlic bread or any type of toasted bread but they were happy to take direction on how to make some for me . I've had nearly everything on the menu and it's all good. You literally cannot order something bad. It's just not possible. Only set back would be the time you have to wait for your food. Tri tip was thinly sliced and very easy to eat, good flavor. Bbq sauce was very good and the hot bbq sauce is hot for the people who like it hot!! I was pleased with the portion size of tri tip and the sides a little small. Chili beans were decent with good flavor and a little on the spicy side. The rice pilaf was not good. The spicy was mine! .... Awesome slow burn.... So dam tasty..... It was a nice place.... Pet friendly with tables and chairs outside... Total plus for us since we travel with our dog alot. Decided that give this place a try the other day. My husband and I were so disappointed! We ordered 2 tritip sandwich combos, one with chili beans and one with fries. 28.00!! Both got soda fountain cups and almost all the sodas were out of order. The wait was long as well, they do have numerous signs up stating that they cook to order and the wait is will be longer than most, I just don't understand why it takes 20 mins for 2 sandwiches that have meat that was already bbqed? The tritip was tough and chewy and the bun was cheap and immediately soggy. The bbq sauces were in greasy bottles. The beans were hard in the chili and the fries were probably the cheapest frozen brand you can buy. For almost 15.00 a meal that is upsetting. They also had a sign that stated NO REFUNDS. Wonder why. Their pricing is decent, within your fast food place price range, and you get a sandwich, fries, and soda all for under $10 dollars. Had their tri tip sandwich and chili chees fries. Chili fries was average, not better then weinersnitchel. The tri tip meat was pretty good, but the bread was average tasting. I thought their hot spicy bar be cue dipping sauce was very good. I think a meat combination plate with rice and macaroni is the way you go here, and leave the sandwiches for the other places. What they gave me was a burger that was thin, like you find in the frozen section at the grocery store and cook yourself. If I wanted that, I would have gone to McDonald's. Almost forgot about this little hole in the wall, largely in part of me changing my job... Long story short, I don't live nearby nor do I have a good reason to be in this area.. Wish I did though, besides the theatre to watch a movie with my family and the new race cart facility, I don't venture into Old Town Clovis very often... Back to the original subject, first let me remind u that this place used to be called "Dave's Deli"... The reasoning behind the name change, I'm not quite certain but was told the owner son still run the establishment... The real reason I come here is for the breakfast burritos... I've tried the bacon, ham, and chorizo... But the bacon is my favorite, only place that makes it crunchy and the cheese they put in is nicely melted, also the salsa is not shabby at all... Actually the salsa kinda unique and goes great with the burritos they serve.. If I'm not wrong, it's fresh made daily(salsa that is).. I was introduced to this place by a coworker, way before yelp existed.. It really grew on me, never really missed it until it became inconvenient(out of the way)... Reason for the 3 stars instead of 4 is because the price is a bit high.. As I recalled about $7 for breakfast without a drink, that can definitely influence the amount of return trips.. As close to home smoked as you can get. Definitely high Smokey taste which isn't particularly my favorite, but it was good. Excellent meat quality with very low to no fat content. Super good portion for the price and tasty fries that are offered for refill. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was just off the bbq grill and was satisfying, could of used a little more seasoning to the patty. Overall everything was good. I'd suggest to give them a try, it may be YOUR next favorite place. I'd definitely be back to check out some other dishes like the grilled chicken. read more

If you want to avoid the long line at Dog House Grill, this is the place to go. The meat has a very smokey flavor, which is my favorite way to eat trip tip. And if u like spicy BBQ sauce, they use ghost peppers in theirs. It varies in hotness from day to day, since they make it in house. Sometimes, it will give you a nice sweat. The only drawback is sometimes, the service can be a little slow. So make sure u aren't on a thirty minute lunch if u are coming here. Outside of that, their flavoring is really good. read more

They even have a sign that says your food may take awhile because it is fresh bbq and take some prep work. Expect to wait at least 10- 20 mins for your food. But at least its worth it .
