Hillside - which is their version of an Uptown, named after the town that the restaurant is in.

One of the hidden gems in Hillside Township. Grilled Chicken Palace offers some of the best comfort & soul food. They put their own spin on a number of standard dishes, such as fried chicken, or shrimp w/pasta, but there's way more to their menu. Their cakes are AMAZING! Their cornbread....AMAZING-ER! A small spot very easy to overlook, but this small location packs a big punch. If you like Soul Food, &/or Comfort Food, add this place to your list. FYI- They do NOT accept credit/debit. They accept cash & have an ATM on site, CashApp, or Zelle, & their menu items can be a bit pricey depending on what you get.

Grilled Chicken Paradise always hit the spot! I have tried everything over the years. The Sexy 1 (substitute Tilapia with Salmon) and Sexy 2 dishes are my favorite. The Jerk Chicken and Apples over rice is also very delicious.

The place looks a bit worn down but the service was nice. They don't accept cards but they do have a cash app option. Cool. The lady offered me free samples but seemed to be rushing me since it was close to closing time. I ordered the salmon and noodles, it was good, just needed some Old Bay. They also have really good potatoes stuffed with meat or seafood.

Been meaning to check out the place for the longest and finally found the opportunity today before I start eating clean again. This was definitely the perfect cheat meal. FYI, the restaurant is best suited for takeout. I would like to begin my review my saying the service here was great! Upon entering the first thing they asked was if it was my first time there and then proceeded to give me multiple samples that got my taste buds jumping. Based on the samples alone the potato salad, pineapple jerk and pink lemonade are not to slept on. I was more so looking to try their seafood dishes and the server recommended pretty much all the ones they had but at end said the Sexy I & II were the way to go on the first round. I went with the Sexy I which was a tilapia, shrimp and scallop white sauce pasta dish and cornbread. The pasta was very tasteful.. a little disappointed the linguine was broken up so much. Overall, my experience here was great and will be back.

Awesome little takeout joint in the heart of hillside ! I traveled 20 mins to try their chicken and it was so worth it . The staff was very nice and let me sample some of their signature items . I ordered the teriyaki chicken wrap and the sweet / spicy salmon pasta . The wrap was super flavorful and the chicken had an authentic teriyaki sauce . A little messy to eat in the car, but I managed lol. The salmon pasta mini meal was delicious as well . The salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was true to its description ., kind of like a sweet and sour style . I will definitely be back !

I'm the type of person who doesn't mind traveling far to eat good food, whether it's at a full service restaurant, a grease truck, or a small neighborhood eatery like the Grilled Chicken Palace. Little traveling is needed as this little gem is not that far from me. Palace Chicken Combo (Mango Chicken + Palace Chop Chicken w/ White Sauce + Salad All Over Rice) ($18....) (A-): I never order "sweet entrees," but the mango chicken (with real slices of mango) was one of my favorite items today. It goes well with the yellow rice and isn't too sweet. The grilled chicken with white sauce was a must have for me; the white sauce is light and herby, while the chicken itself was well seasoned. The slaw consisting of squash, cucumber, cabbage, broccoli, and carrots had a peppery kick to it. More importantly, the vegetables were crispy and fresh. We also ordered the special (Grilled Teriyaki Chicken Stirred w/ Vegetables ($8.95)), which was similar but with teriyaki instead. Corn Bread Muffin (A+) ($0.60): Let me say it now...this was--hands down--the best corn bread muffin I've ever had. It's perfectly moist, slightly sweet, and has real corn in each bite! The half that the owner let us try was all I needed to buy two for the road. Service (A+): No amount of stars or a letter grade can show how friendly everyone here is--from the owner to even other customers, this little eatery will make you feel welcomed. It isn't just the many free samples the owner gives out. She's friendly, inviting, and really wants you to try her cooking. The portions were great with the takeout aluminum pan and take out box being filled to the top. It's not fancy, but this places serves a variety of dishes that you would expect to order at a full service restaurant. There are a few stools and a corner bar table for you to eat in, but for the most part, it's a takeout type of place. Even though parking is a bit tough, I'm coming back for more, especially for the seafood dishes.

The prices are surprisingly reasonable for a high end restaurant, which is another reason we'll return. As for the food, some bit hits, some just good, not great. We started with cocktails (which they have a really wild variety of) with their Rice Cakes. The tuna on top was fresh and the rice cake was nice and chewy. Definitely a hit. For an entree I order a filet with a side of whipped potatoes. The potato's were the big hit of the night. They were full of cheese crumbles for added flavor. Highly recommend. My steak was good, but not great. Having said that, at $55, I'd say it was a tremendous value. We also shared a Cesar salad which was sort of a wedge salad. Very tasty, my wife appreciated the deviled eggs on top, while I would prefer without. Not a big fan of eggs. Based on the very polite and attentive service, atmosphere, location and value, we look forward to returning soon.

Ambiance: This place has a nice ambiance, definitely very "New York" -- dark (you can't see how dirty the floor is) and loud music (maybe too loud). We sat upstairs (we had a reservation) and of all the people on the top there was a party of 4 (us), a party of 8 (all dudes celebrating something) and the rest of the tables were on a DATE - which I thought was funny. Service: We were served by Ann-Marie who was so delightful. She was kind, super nice, and took the time to speak to us (which is basically how we figured out she wasn't a native New York City person). She gave us good food suggestions and we were very happy with our selection. Food: Here is what we ordered * Steak Frites: My two boys got the steak frites and I have to say the steak was awesome! I had a bite of each of theirs and they each ordered it differently (one Medium Rare/Medium and one Medium) and they both were prepared PERFECTLY. The fries were overflowing. * Caeser Salad with Salmon: My wife got the salad with Salmon (they only have a few salad options) and she enjoyed it. * Prawn and Crab Risotto: I got this and I have to say it was VERY bland. I wouldn't get this if you are looking for taste. I had to put salt and pepper on it to make it have any semblance of taste. Value/Price: I would say this is not over priced but it is not cheap either...bill is attached. I would recommend it to folks who are looking for a good place to either go out on a date or a family type meal.

It's better than it needs to be, which in this neighborhood counts for a lot. The room is the star. Brass, smoked mirrors, marble, wallpaper with burlesque dancers, very Gatsby cosplay but done with actual money. Think the Campbell at Grand Central, minus the $28 martini attitude. It's also LOUD downstairs. Ask for upstairs if you want to hear your date. Gin is the program here and they take it seriously, house-infused bottles paired with specific tonics, not an afterthought. My G&T was legitimately well built. Food from chef JC Colón is better than cocktail-bar standard: truffle fries in duck fat are worth it, the lobster mac at $31 is rich and fine but you've had it before. Skip dessert. The steak frites at $48 is where I'd tap out, that's real-restaurant money for bar food execution. Here's the move though: weekday happy hour, 4 to 7. Dollar oysters and $13 cocktails in a room this pretty is one of the best deals in Midtown, full stop. Service was warm and fast even slammed. Not a destination, but if you're near Bryant Park or seeing a show, this beats everything else within five blocks. Book ahead, walk-ins were getting turned away by 5:30.
