We ordered a gyros sandwich, a chicken kebabs plate w/ a side salad, and a gyro & pork kebab w/ a side salad. Our food was ready in a short time. It was hot and fresh tasting. I liked their gyro the most. Its flavor and texture were on point. The pork kebab was grilled properly as well. It was tender with a good char taste. The tzatziki sauce was creamy and yummy. The side salad with chunks of Feta was delicious. The creamy vinaigrette dressing for the salad added a nice touch. Overall, our visit was good, and we would go back for more. Very disappointing. Sitting down, eating it right now, chicken kebab was way overcooked to the purpose of almost like eating a dry piece of wood. In fact, a piece of chicken fell off of my pita, and hit the plate and rattled the fork. It's that overcooked. Had fries with one and rice with the other. Tried two of the hot dogs, again disappointing. Hot dog quality was maybe something you would get from Aldi. Very rubbery, not really good flavor. These could be Mexican "Fud" dogs. They were cold when handed to me, not even warm. Just had the Gyro, meat is dry. The fries: extremely flimsy. I went in here before about a year ago and it was outstanding. Decided to try it again today, it's totally missing. Sorry, Grillville... The manager was nice though, and the place was very clean. I just wish that they carried on over to your product. Yeah: I'm not coming back. I think the next time when I drive by it, it may be closed up for business. I liked it under the last ownership, especially the steak fries and the gyros was very good too. The steak fries are gone but I can live with that if others things make up for it. Except they've downgraded the fries a couple times now. Then there's the gyros, it's slid lower and lower every time I go. Why cut the gyros meat in such small pieces? Other legit places don't do that. Why pile it on top of the tomato, sauce and onions? Because when those little pieces are on top they just fall off and I'm left with a non gyro veggie pita. It falls apart again after you reassemble. The taste is ok but not close to good enough to justify fighting with my sandwich. I happened to make my wife come with on my last visit. Not good. She ordered a salad and was immediately pissed off. It wasn't horrible but it's at the bottom of the scale compared to any other place I'd go in the area. I also have to mention the onion rings. They sell the ones that are little bits of onions molded with dough into a circle. I tried one (so did my wife) and gave them the rest back. Compete embarrassment when they're charging like $6.50 for ten. No way my wife gives them a second chance and I've given them at least 3 swings and misses. It's over. There aren't many good Greek places in the area so I'll have to get my gyros when I'm elsewhere because they're not worth it. read more

Fodrak's is a good place to grab a quick gyro, Italian beef, burger, hotdog, etc. The restaurant is clean and has seating for approximately 70. You order at the counter and when they call your number you grab your food. Today I had the gyro plate. It comes with all the fixings to build your own gyro. The meat had good flavor, but my plate didn't have any of the crispy well-done strips of meat that I love. I'm not sure why they don't build it for you...maybe it's a Libertyville thing. I've also had the Greek Chicken which is very good. Service is lightning quick. Fodrak's is not a bad option if you are in the area and looking for a clean, fast-food joint. read more

I ordered the gyro plate with rice. The gyro meat is dry looking but taste is not bad, onions were surprisingly good, the white sauce is an okay but not amazing. The rice is i do not know what to say it taste bad, so soft and wet so far from a rice i am expecting w a gyro (basmati at least). Service was good and the inside looks cozy. I went to Fodtak's for the first time as they also just reopened. I heard they have the best gyros in Lake County and they did not disappoint. The gyros platter was excellent and ample (enough to feed 3 people but I recommended you order 2 extra pitas and tzatziki sauce) with the fresh cut Greek fries. The ambiance was very casual and the staff was friendly. The issue was it took a very long time to get our food as they were having system issues and they did not have Oreos for their Oreo shake or the soup. Also the soda fountain machine was not there yet as they just reopened. Also watch the pricing on the menu as the saganaki (which they also did not have) was $4.99 on the menu wall but the register said $7.99. Overall I give the place 3.75 stars. I will definitely be back for the gyros and Greek potatoes. read more

Well, since I'm not from town I wasn't aware of the ownership change. I'm so very disappointed! I do want to state that I did like the thicker cut and find the meat itself full of flavor and not dry. I did NOT like the gyro plate as everything is placed on one plate and shoved together. Additionally I like my fries in a basket. My fries were warm at best and because I stopped in at 6PM they were quiet. The plate is served with a small cube of feta, a few Klamata olives, a pepperocini, a fresh and warm pita, some onion, some tomato, the gyro cut thicker and long strips, and warm fries. The taziki was pretty good. The pita is at the bottom. Good luck with enjoying that until half the plate has been consumed. We ordered the Gyros plate $9.99 and the fish n chips $9.99, both included tons of fries! The pita bread that came with the Gyros plate was soft and there were enough gyros to make two sandwiches! There were three pieces of fried fish for the fish n chips and it was really crispy and hot! We had great service! Not only did this place close early by 30 mj. The first visit. On the second visit trying to give them a chance, I ordered a gyro, drink and fries. The woman did not mention the combo deal. What would have cost me $8 cost me $23. They are not looking out for you. Even at McDonald's they would mention a value deal for what your asking. This is the last straw. Fodrak's was a staple growing up... Several times a month this was the family go to for beefs, burgers and gyros. After moving away, I'd stop by periodically, but the service became lackluster with younger employees not being very attentive, and the food changed slightly. Anyway, have been in the area much more often, and tried the gyro one night - it was absolutely fabulous! The fries were great too...fresh cut! Okay, tried again tonight, ordered a patty melt and fry. The burger meat was a bit tough and compacted, and one more slice of cheese would make a difference. The fries were not fresh cut this time... Which really disappointed me. I'll go back, but only for a gyro... Doubt I'll venture any further into the menu. read more

Glad this place was kept open under new ownership. Anyone that experienced lackluster service or food before should come back and give it another go. The food and service is what I remember from long ago and the vibe is still there but possibly more upbeat and refreshing. The gyro I had with the Greek potatoes were excellent. I would say the Greek potatoes needed more of that lemon flavor like I remember but were cooked to perfection. Gyro was better than I recall from previous times and was loaded with meat which was a great sign. Don't let past experiences ruin it from you coming here again. Update 5/2/2022. Fodraks, what happened to you. The new owners obviously took a great place, and turned it upside down. Take the false advertising off your sign. Yes, Fodraks was voted best gyros in lake county years ago. Those gyros were fantastic, however these are not the same gyros as yesteryear. These are subpar gyros that id give 3 stars if not using the old name. The fries game has definitely gone down hill over the years as well. Now just cheap ass frozen fries. The ketchup is absolute garbage. It has a very sweet taste and the after taste just lingers. I honestly don't think they are cleaning the bottles before refilling them. It's the only thing I can think for the strange taste. I'm sorry that this is no longer the Fodraks I fell in love with many years ago. Guess it's time to find a new gyro spot now. Mediocre gyros delicious pita was soft and pre grilled so unfortunately it was cool . The meat was good but would have preferred if it was warmed up a bit and on the grill . The food came out very hot, the portions were plentiful, and the flavors were exploding. Sauces were obviously made in house. My first time here and I will certainly return. Had the pork kebab sandwich and fries. It was delicious! Which is high praise from a fellow Greek. The pork was tender, juicy, and well marinated. Kebabs are always a good measure of how authentically Greek a place is, and this place is 100% Greek. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the Greek chicken. The fries were really good too. Super bummed that the quality no longer resembles Fodrak's. We've tried it three times now since it's become GRILLVILLE, I assumed the first time was a bit of a fluke because they were just starting out but the two times after were just as disappointing. Burgers are definitely frozen patty's with absolutely no seasoning. They almost taste fake. The fries were undercooked and the breading on the onion rings was really chewy and lacking any flavor. Chicago dog was good but the hotdog itself was on the small size. I hope they make it, being a town staple but their menu/quality needs a major overhaul. Frozen burgers won't work in a town with so many options for a juicy hamburger. read more
