I love Grilly's. To be honest, I haven't sampled most of the menu. I usually order the chicken taco salad, rice, and extra mild salsa for my salad. I have also had burritos. (Less impressed with the burritos than the taco salad--that dressing is the best--and the salad is huge and filling.) This is true, American, Mill Valley Mexican food, i.e., just a tad bland. I am from Austin, Texas and this is where I go to get my mexican food fix. I eat there at least three times a week, The food is good and the guys who work there are always friendly and outgoing. I never have to wait long for my food and vibe always seems to be positive. The one thing I have noticed in the last month is the burritos have gotten much smaller than they used to be. I like burritos because they are big and filling, not small and disappointing. The music has also changed recently. It used to be good rock or just plain good music and now all I hear is Tejano. Could live @ Grilly's. Love, love, love this place. Fresh. Mango chicken burrito is the best. You can even have the burrito in a box and skip the gluten or tortilla. The new remodel is so beautiful. However if you have a speech impairment, even if you are a long term customer, the staff just does not care. today the manager and cashier thought my complaint about the way they treated me was funny. Today for lunch tears were shed. My friend and I went to Grillys on Miller with the expectation of sharing a nachos that we had previously called in to order. When we arrived my friend was given the wrong order/name. I went back in to get the correct order and they took the nachos- that were without the ordered guacamole, sour cream, no salsa, and beans. And poured some beans on the cold nachos that consisted of salsa, and unevenly spread cheese clumps. Grilly's gets a lot of hate but I think it's cause many locals are pampered and spoiled when it comes to great Mexican food options in the area (perhaps the locals are just pampered and spoiled in general!). That being said, I think that Grilly's is more than fine and tasty for a quick bite. I like taking my sons there after we go on our Sunday bike trips. It's always the same items but easy to order, friendly customer service (hats off to the friendly tall gentleman working at the register!), delicious agua frescas. Grilly's is awsome! Service is quick and easy, tastes good, and it's filling. What more could you ask for? When I go to Grilly's I don't expect to have authentic mexican food, because most mexican food in the US usually isn't authentic. Food is predictably good, generous portions, and service (with a very friendly and efficient work force) is terrific. They made a mistake on a take-out order, and when I called in to let them know, they said that they would give me a 'credit' when I came back; two days later I walked in with my receipt, and they "more than" made up for the error..very class act. read more

Grilly's offered me mediocre food for a higher than expected price tag. The food wasn't bad, but as many other mentioned, it's bland. I got the veggie burrito and while I liked it, I paid $6 and it was half the size of chipotle's $7 burritos and not nearly as flavorful. The horchata wasn't bad, maybe a bit too much cinnamon for my taste but I can't complain. Being Christmas, they decided to get festive. While I did appreciate the decorations, the music soundtrack is awful. It's these incredibly annoying Hispanic Christmas tracks that are better off not being played. read more

good food!! ... but the service, especially the one latina lady who's always very unpleasant when trying to order something and giving you an attitude, and then messes up your order because she isn't even listening properly. It's a second time I had some issue with her either with complete attitude and messing up or once when she was loudly announcing me my card was declined without trying properly swiping it again (my card was/is completely fine, I use it every day!). I had the steak and shrimp burrito which was pretty good! They filled it with refried beans, sour cream and guac. Most places fill them with rice, so that was nice. It is not very authentic, so if that's what your looking for this is not our place. read more

I'm giving them 2 stars because of the guy who took my order on the phone. I read reviews and my customers complimented them, on how good they were. So I ordered expecting it to be a wow on the goodness list. I was wrong dead wrong, I'll have to admit it was my mistake for having such high expectations. If you like having bland food, with no seasoning at all. I mean none whatsoever, the meat taste like cardboard, the rice nonexistent taste. Guac is just avocado, no salt,no nothing. Salsa nothing just pureed tomatoes. Then this is your place. Even Lucindas taste better, and I don't like their food either. This is bad,really bad. If I hadn't spent so much on the food, I would thow this crapola out. I can't with them ever again. Sorry folks. I apologize for the rant but , I couldn't take it. Earlier today I happened upon a chocolate cookie from Grillies. Upon inspection, it was larger in diameter than the average cookie but still had an acceptable amount of chocolate chips. Just by looking at the cookie, I could see it would most likely be brittle. Personally, this would not be appealing, but there is no way to know until I try. Biting into the cookie I was pleasantly surprised. Around the edges, it seemed to be slightly brittle, but as I traveled further into the center, I found it softened. This would be desirable for anyone on either side of the brittle or soft cookie debate. Looking deeper into the taste, I noticed that the cookie was still rich with flavor no matter where you bit. Whether or not there was a chocolate chip present, I found myself savoring and enjoying this cookie immensely. I would highly recommend this cookie for anyone willing to pony up $1.25 for such a life changing experience. read more

The only place on the planet that my legit first choice is a taco salad but it is SO great! high quality, great portion, killer sauce!!! I always get pick-up from here on my way back from the city after work, so I am usually around one of their last customers and the staff are always SO NICE. Seriously, I love these dudes. My son ordered the mango chicken burrito, which he found to be bland and missing one important ingredient: the mango! I used to like Grillys but they are careless and really rude. I usually get their vegetarian salad but twice in the recent past I have found chicken in my supposed vegetarian salad. As a life long vegetarian this is just not acceptable. When I told them the first time they acted like it was no big deal. This time I was so annoyed I didn't even bother complaining. We are just never going back. If you have food allergies I would be careful since they don't take dietary restrictions seriously. read more
