I'd like to start out with this review with a shout out to Jack! He rescued what we thought was going to be a disastrous experience. We joined the waitlist from Yelp, and thought we'd be seated as soon as we walked in, per the wait time quoted. Not the case. Woman up front was dismissive and seemed to be avoiding us. We were almost about to leave, but Jack saw our dilemma and jumped in to help out! He made sure we were the next to be seated and was an amazing server! Our pizzas were delicious and brought out pretty quickly, as well as another to-go pizza and to-go box for what we couldn't finish. We were sitting up front so didn't see too much of the inside, but all looked clean. If you are fortunate enough to have Jack as your server you will have an excellent experience! Not too shabby. I was looking for a new place to try in the Dallas/Plano area and I was feeling pizza. My sister suggested Grimaldi's. And although I really wanted to try Cane Rosso, I'd have to make a 40+ miles round trip from Plano. Yeah, that wasn't happening. Grimaldi's it is! So I made my way to the Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm where Grimaldi's is. Watters Creek is a shopping center kind of like Houston's City Centre, but better since parking at City Centre kind of sucks. I was able to find parking in the garage no problem and there are plenty "metered" parking that is by donation only. Or in other word, "FREE". When I got to Grimaldi's, there was no wait and I got seated right away. Our waiter came to greet us and asked us if we'd been here before. I said "yes" because as it turned out, I'd been here a loooong time ago. I just don't remember anything about the experience. But our waiter proceeded to remind us about the "White" pizza with the garlic crust. I looked at the menu and it was pretty straight forward. Pizza, some appetizers (mostly salad), drinks, desserts, and a huge ass wine list. So we ordered a "small" Caesar salad and a "small" half white-half regular pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and meatball. Note that their "small" is large in most places. I was able to share the Caesar salad with my sister and their small pizza is a 16" pie which is a large in most places. Their large is an 18" pie. Our salad came out but it was really nothing special. You can't really screw up Caesar salad but I wish they'd given us more croutons. So the moment of truth came out. The pizza arrived. I saw that they had cut the pizza into six large slices instead of the usual eight slices at most places. No matter, I was still going to chow down my half! And so I picked up a slice, folded it into two (what? You eat your pizza with fork and knife? COME ON!) and bit into it and it was DE-LI-NOM-NOM-NOM! Yeah, it was good. The crust was thin and crisp. No soggy crust here like mentioned in some of the other reviews. After we were done eating, the Manager came by our table to see how we were doing. It's funny because the waiter never came back once to check on us. He only came back to take away the dirty plates and then again to give us the to-go box and bill. Not once did he check on us after he gave us our food. Oh well, I guess. I still enjoyed the pizza. Overall, this was really a 3.5 experience for me, but I'll round up. read more

I'm not sure I'm at the right Grimaldi's. I am floored by how many 5 star reviews there are. First thing first. The sauce! Please tell me the sauce you put on the pizza is different than the sauce that comes with the calzone. My husband got the calzone and he had me try the sauce that came with it. Holy crap! I have never and I mean never tasted anything like it. I can't even describe what it tasted like. Metallicky? No sweetness at all. I am not a fan of sweet sauce but this sauce might have been saved if it had just a little sweetness to it. Honest to God I would never be this dramatic over food but there's always a first time. Maybe we got a bad batch? I sure hope so. With all the raving reviews I'd definitely like to visit and enjoy a good pizza. Let's talk about the calzone. He ordered it with anchovies and Italian sausage and he got artichokes instead of the anchovies. As he said, you don't pay $19 for something and it not be made right. On the plus side the crust was awesome and the ingredients was spread equally throughout the entire calzone. A on doing a calzone the way it should be made. If only it was filled with the things he wanted it would be an A+. As for my trio of bruschetta. Simply delish. I was unsure of the red peppers with ricotta but wow what flavor. I just wish they would have given me a little more ricotta. I was only able to get 2 pieces. But regardless of anything I say, they have one of the top 5 best bruschetta around. I'm still scratching my head over that sauce. I just can't think of the word to describe the taste. It truly is a mystery. read more

We were told about this eatery from a friend that eats there regularly so we decided to try it out. We originally went on a Saturday night which was a mistake. Not due to service or food which were both phenomenal, but just due to the amount of business that they had. They had a wait of about 45 minutes at the door and about that for your food, the servers did a great job checking up on you and making sure that you were doing ok. We decided to try them the second time on a Monday before the dinner rush and got there just as they were stoking the oven, which wasn't a problem. The manager Allison came and talked to us a little bit and then our server Jenny K arrived at the table. I don't think I have ever been greeted with a warmer smile that the one on her face. I asked about the wine and told her what I liked and she gave a recommendation that was right on the money. When it came time to order we did and again Jenny recommended that we get the large for only $2 more that way we would have some left over. I am glad we did, she also suggested Bruschetta, so we did the trio of bruschetta's, again absolutely wonderful. When the pizza arrived I was surprised at the size of it but after eating I was glad that we got the larger size so I would have leftovers. The crust was perfect, crispy but not overly done and the amount of cheese and sauce was perfection. Unfortunately we had so much pizza that we didn't have room for dessert which was a shame. I highly recommend this location for anyone that wants good coal fired pizza, you will enjoy it, and definitely ask for Jenny K. Pizza wasn't bad, but nothing to rave about. We got two pizza's, one pepperoni and with sausage and onion. The pepperoni wasn't crispy like I prefer, not sure if that's normal and I should have asked specifically for crispy/well done? The sausage was good, but pretty skimpy. Considering the price, I was pretty disappointed. I'm also not a fan of the blobs of cheese and sauce, rather than an even spread like normal pizza. Overall, the price is only slightly higher than some other pizza joints, but when you add in tip, I don't think it's worth it. This place was busy for a Wed night, the vibe is cool, and service was good, so I can see why it's popular. If you like their pizza, I guess it's a decent place. We came to celebrate my wife's birthday with her free Grimaldi's pizza they give for birthdays. We've been here before and always loved the pizza. The service was previously good with the waiter bringing our drinks and attending us with bread in very good time. He kept checking on us as well. We were served our pizza in reasonable time. BUT TONIGHT WAS DIFFERENT. We had to wait 45 minutes in line. We helped ourselves to the Coffee Bar next door while waiting. We finally got in and we're seated excited to get a salad drinks and of course a pizza. We were brought our salad and told it wold be an hour for the pizza. Our waitress told us the people at a table had already waited an hour. We ate our Cesar Salad. It was delicious. Then we waited and waited and waited. My wife needed to get home for some work she had to do. So the hour wait was bad. I noticed the people next to us got their pizza about the same time we did. That meant they must have waited about 2 hours. Not good. Our pizza was brought to us. I can't say it was bad. It was good. But it the crust was burnt as was the crust on the table next to us. Also, our tomato sauce was cold. How did we get burnt pizza crust with cold tomato sauce? Furthermore, our waitress only visited our table maybe 6 times. And, 3 were to bring the check, pickup payment, and bring our card back. She only filled my water glass with 1 refill. Poor service. And lastly, I want to say that when I visited the men's room, I finally heard the good music. I thought great. But, when I went outside, I could barely hear the music due to the poor acoustics. When all people talk it becomes very loud. And, of course people are going to talk. But why play the great music if we can't hear it? I think you need to look into your system of service and when and how you cook. You may need another oven. But, what do I know? If you are going to give a great deal for birthday's with the free pizza, give great service if you want us to come back. As it is, we don't plan on coming back to this Grimaldi's. read more

This is an excellent pizza joint and you're very well taken care of here, especially if things don't go completely right. For example, our first pizza last night came out more than a little burned, so they left it for us nibble on (we were very hungry) while they prepared a replacement pizza. I was so excited to try this place and I absolutely loved the pizza, but the service was really bad. My boyfriend and I were at the restaurant for an hour and 45 minutes and our waiter only came to our table about 3 times during that time. Our drinks were completely empty when we received our pizza and the ranch that was brought out was on the table for at least 30 minutes before we even got our pizza. We asked for to go boxes and the check and then didn't see the waiter for another 15 minutes. When he came back to the table after those 15 minutes, the waiter said "y'all already paid, right?" and then we knew he clearly forgot about our togo boxes and check. We still gave a pretty nice tip but super disappointed in the service and debating if it's even worth it to go back. read more

When I arrived and was signing the check about 30 minutes later, I realized they mixed up our sausage and pepperoni pizza with a meatball and pepperoni pizza. I was very angered by this because I made them verify our order with us and I didn't want to wait around another 30 minutes for them to remake it. Instead, I asked if we could get sausage on top of the messed up pizza, and they did at no additional charge. Everything turned out fine, but I was really hangry when this all went down. Pizza was delicious as usual! Very fresh and light crust. I would give this 5 stars normally, but deducted one for the mess up in the order. Ok pizza is amazing, obviously not your usual take out or delivery pizza. Service is great, food is delicious, salads are amazing, my 5 year old loves coming here so Grimaldi's is perfect for us. We came for dinner and got to seat in front of the pizza making and were entertained by the chef throwing the dough in the air, remember I have a 5 year old so this was great :) my daughter loves the fact they give her dough to play with, instead of a boring coloring page. The only thing I would not highly recommend is the flavored ice tea, it's good but not amazing. We order 1/4 cheese pizza for her and we build our own for the 3/4 of the pizza. We also eat a small salad but it is perfect for 2 adults. We have tried all the salads so I recommend any of them :) read more

The food itself was 4.5 stars, but the service needs improvement. It was also very pricey. We walked in early Saturday afternoon and we were seated immediately. "Great!" We thought as we sat down and looked over the short menu and figured out very quickly what we wanted to eat and drink. As we waited for a server to come speak to us, the clock kept ticking... 5 minutes... 10 minutes... 20 minutes. Another table is seated about 15 feet from us. A server immediately takes their drink order. Two minutes later comes back with their drinks and begins taking their food order. This is when we got up and walked out, very hungry and very annoyed. We walked back in and asked to speak to a manager who offered to seat us closer to the door and a friendly waitress greeted us. Food was very expensive for the small amount and absolutely nothing was comped or even expedited for us having waited so long. Such good pizza but simply not worth the hassle of either dine-in or carryout. Wait times for dine-in are invariably 45 minutes to an hour--but sometimes not. Who knows? It's a complete guess, so you might sit around and wait or get lucky. And as for carryout, every single order for six or seven people waiting last night for carryout was delayed, most for 30 to 45 minutes AFTER the time promised online. When asked why the times on the website were so wrong, we were told they don't actually make the pizzas for the specified time. Meanwhile, delivery services like GrubHub--meaning people not even standing around and waiting--were receiving their pizzas with minimal fuss. Seems like a perverse incentive to punish those willing to show up but reward those who don't. (Of course, the reason is likely obvious: they don't actually start making pizzas until they are paid for. Understandable, but why bother with the charade of "order ahead?") At one point, Grimaldi's was the best option for pizza locally, but enough good places have opened that dealing with Grimaldi's regular bad service is no longer worth it. read more

The birthday gifts keep popping up and I ain't mad! My buddy Keisha W. put me up on the birthday club at Grimaldi and I have to say it was my favorite free birthday surprise ever!!! Super fresh mozzarella and great tomato sauce that's not too sweet or bitter... PERFECTION! Since my pizza was free I decided to try their Banana cheesecake which I was skeptical about because I'm not a huge fan of banana desserts outside of banana pudding but this was really good and you get a huge piece for $6.50! My only complaint is that they have actual bananas in it and it made my last little bit hard to eat because those bananas had turned black which made it very unappetizing. Unfortunately due to those bananas I couldn't quite enjoy the rest of my yummy dessert I will definitely be back despite my encounter with the black bananas and next time it'll be with family and friends outside of my birthday! read more

I had an okay experience here, though it was mostly due to the friends I met for dinner and the location. The food - Not good. My pizza was burnt and didn't really have any toppings/ cheese/ sauce. I really felt like I was eating overpriced, burnt bread. We also got a salad which was the same. Lots of brown wilted lettuce and really nothing else. The service - The server couldn't seem to remember who ordered what and we had to keep on relocating drinks and food around the table. She also never offered to refill my drink at all. Overall our group probably spent over $300 and it was incredibly disappointing. Someone remarked that Pizza Hut would've been better. I wouldn't go that far but will probably go to Cane Rosso or someplace similar in the future. I had a great time, but it was in spite of, not because of the meal. read more
