I was so excited that my son was finally going to pick up Grimaldi's Pizza. I kept hearing that it is the best pizza. Additionally, since I have Celiac Disease, I can't eat gluten. So I was pleased that they offer gluten-free pizzas. First of all, they take approximately an hr and 15 to an hr and 30 minutes for 2-12" pizzas. A lot of time to prepare, then cook, in a brick oven. I've seen plenty of pizzas going into brick ovens and since it burns at a higher temperature than a regular oven, they bake super fast., 2 or 3 minutes. What the hell are they doing for the additional hour and 28 minutes Secondly, their gf pizza is the worst pizza I've ever eaten. Taking the first bite, it was literally as hard as cardboard! I had to bite down so forcefully to take a bite. Then all of the work it took to get that first bite was so not worth it, as it even tasted like cardboard. So I decide to simply pull off the toppings and just eat those. Even that sucked. As I was trying to pull the toppings off, the innards of the crust was literally like wet Elmer s glue. So there wasn't any way I could eat the toppings w/o eating some of the nasty goo from the cardboard crust So sad, pizza's my favorite food! Not to mention, over the last few years everybody and their dog either has celiac or gluten sensitivity. So the gf companies as well as a lot of great restaurants, including pizza joints who actually care about their customers, have come a long way from tough cardboard tasting gf foods. I can find pretty much any gf food that I love, including pizza crust, and serve it to my celiac free family and they have no idea it's gf. It's that good! Not to mention they're so expensive! A 12" pizza with 2 lil ol toppings is TWENTY DOLLARS I may as well have thrown a $20 bill in the garbage. Lastly, they advertise that if you sign up to receive their emails, you'll get a free pizza on your birthday. My son's birthday was this month, so he was pumped that he was getting a free pizza for his birthday dinner. Only to call and find out that you HAVE to eat in the restaurant. I was livid, uh hello, we've been in a pandemic for almost a year now, maybe you've heard of it?? She tells me "...it's policy". I said you realize that COVID is now doubly contagious as the new variant jumped over from the UK?! "It's policy ma'am". When you're a hangry customer, do you really want to hear, " that's policy ma'am"?! I sure as hell don't. So needless to say my son prob won't be giving them anymore of his money either. All of this dissertation, lol, to say, stay as far away from Grimaldi's as you can. I worked in food service for many years. Your customers are always top priority. So you make sure they are happy and taken care of, always. That's how you grow into a successful company and earn tips that are more than the standard 15%. Get some training Grimaldi's! Grimaldi's is known for their thin crust, minimum sauce & cheese. If you enjoy this "type" of pizza you will love this place!! The ambiance is busy, but fun and entertaining. We enjoy watching the pizza chef's make each pizza from scratch (no commercial dough balls). Outside seating is also cozy & entertaining when it comes to people watching or observing special events going on, etc.. We visit this location several times a year. Fair warning -- it's a small restaurant in a very busy area of Watters Creek. If you plan to visit over the weekend during typical busy lunch hours, it's worth your time to make a reservation early in the day if not a few days ahead, no joke! Especially during the holidays!! For the first time we used their online ordering system. It was simple and easy. We put our order in at 4:30p and our assigned scheduled pick up time was 6:15pm!! We ordered 3 large pizzas & Cesar's salad. Salad & dressing was fresh and perfect for 4 adults. The 3 pizzas wasn't nearly the same as ordering in the restaurant. We believed it's because the pizza is so light (thin crust & thin sauce/cheese) that it got cold fast. Still good. But cold. This place has been on our list to try for a long time. Finally went here with family on a Saturday. There was a 15 minute wait for lunch. The place is kind of small and feels crowded. We got 2 16 inch pizzas for a party of four. One veggie and the other pepperoni with jalapeños- with the classic pizza as base. Food arrived soon and tasted amazing. We had 4 slices of leftovers. If you get on their mailing list, you get a free one topping pizza in the email, pretty neat. Will definitely be going back often read more

I always start with a Caesar salad, the portions are huge so a small is perfect for two people. The dressing is to die for! I love their Summertime Sangria, white sangria & their tradition red wine sangria which is packed with delicious fruit like peach & chunks of fine diced pear. Perfect refreshment. Pizza! Anyone that knows me knows that pizza is my favorite food and Grimaldi's has my favorite pizza, in Uptown that is. Although the Grimaldi's franchises have the same menus, the food differs depending on which location you go to. Allen seems to have the next best flavor to Uptown's location. The pizza here has never failed me. The Pepperoni Pizza is the star. The crust is crispy and the pizza itself is so flavorful with their delicious tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, and very seasoned pepperoni's. My other go to pizza here is the Spicy Chicken Sausage. The sausage is definitely spicy and has a nice kick of flavor mixed in well on their traditional pizzas. Sometimes I dine in and other times I do pick up. Either way, the pizzas have always been on par. I only wish when picking up the pizzas, they had s better method for having customers pay to get in and out instead of me always having to wait while looking at my pizzas get old in their warmer. read more

We were greeted and seated quickly in a gorgeous dining room with a happy view of children and ducks. Service is crisp and efficient, and it's a lot of fun to watch the cooks tossing the pizza in the air. We ordered two 12-inch pizzas, the Marguerita and the Brooklyn Bridge. Both pies came out with a beautiful crisp crust and perfectly melted cheese. The Marguerita burst with a beautiful bright flavor from the whole basil leaves scattered on the pizza. This is a local favorite. The wait might be the only bad thing here, but it's worth it. Fresh oven fired pizza, garlic knot rolls and relaxed atmosphere are what keeps us coming back. There is a small bar where you can get a draft beer or a favorite wine too. If you've got little ones ask your server for a bit of dough to keep them busy while your food is being prepared. There is also a nice park and play area just outside the back doors. If you just want to order and pick up for a night in...we'll they can accommodate that as well. The family and I visited Grimaldi's Saturday just before 4PM. We were told by the hostess the oven cleaning process was about to begin so make sure to order quickly. We made our decision within a minute but had to wait over five minutes before anyone came over. The restaurant was not busy so the employees took their time to have fun & talk with one another. I made eye contact a few times with the manager but he continued to talk with the servers and other manager. Our waiter finally came over to get our drink order and to give us a speech regarding oven cleaning. I wanted to give him a speech on promptly waiting tables when the oven is about to be cleaned but simply placed my order. We went with a large spinach and italian sausage pizza. Our huge and tasty pizza arrived within 10-15mins. It did not disappoint. The pizza tasted much better than most competitors. What really would put Grimaldi's way ahead of the competition is if they seriously bump up service and offer chicken wings. The boys beverages were nearly empty but were never offered refills. Just like our wait to place order, we had to wait again to request a to go box and check. My husband attempted to grab the waiter's attention several times but he was goofing around with other team members. We will return again for the fantastic pizza but really hope they offer better service or that Trip is not waiting on us. read more

Look... I will be honest with you guys. I only come here because we get a free large one topping pizza for birthdays. Seeing as how a no topping pizza is $16, it's a deal. My problem with the pizza is that it lacks sauce and cheese, so you'll need to add extra of those at $2 a pop. We waited over ten minutes for someone to get a drink order because as everyone points out, this place employs gossiping teens. Our pizza was fine, although we asked for ricotta and we only found a little added, even though we were charged $2 for it. No drink refills. I had to return a dirty plate since no one came back to check on us. Then it was an additional 15 min wait to get a box and check out. If they didn't send you a coupon, I'd never come here. Ok, if you haven't been to Grimaldis yet, please drop everything and head over right now! Hands down, THE BEST pizza we've had since we moved to Texas. Just so you know, my friend is a huge pizza snob...hates most pizza delivery and any type of pizza that isn't crispy. Good news, Grimaldi's not only knows how to make delicious pizza, they know how to make them perfectly crispy! The crust is just right, not too thin and not deep dish. We like to keep it simple and always order the pepperoni and basil as toppings (ask for it extra crispy). The mozarella is fresh and just amazing! No matter what toppings and sauce you choose, you're gauranteed to enjoy every last bite. Which reminds me, order a larger size than you normally would...leftover Grimaldi's is just as delicious the next day!! I always order a small house salad to share (it's definitely big enough for two). Although the salad is fairly simple, the ingredients are incredibly fresh and I love the house vinaigrette. It's not too heavy, very lemony, and perfect with a dash of salt. They have a great selection of beer and wine to go with your choice of pizza and, even if you stick with water, it'll be a solid choice as their water is imported from Brooklyn (at least that's what we were told and we're sticking with it). The service is always great, incredibly friendly staff, and I always see the manager walking around ensuring the customers are satisfied. Word to the wise, if you're going for dinner on a weekend, get there no later than 6:30pm to avoid the long line for a table. Otherwise, plan on leaving your name and number for the staff to call you back when your table is ready. While you wait, you can walk around the shops at Watters Creek and/or grab a drink at any of the neighboring bars (which include The Londoner, Mi Cocina, Village Burger Bar, and PF Changs to name a few). read more

In the past, my family and I have always enjoyed eating at this restaurant. We attempted to order a pizza a week or so ago, and tried to use my sister's birthday coupon to pick up a pizza to go. The birthday coupons are always something we look forward to - it's sort of a birthday tradition now. When we attempted to order the pizza to-go, we were told we had to dine in to use the coupon. I insisted that had to be a mistake, because Texas rates of Covid are sky-rocketing, but the girl on the phone (kindly) explained that it's the company policy, and the workers do not agree with it, but they are required to enforce it. I emailed customer service about this. In their response, they brushed it off, insisted the policy stay has been in place for a long time, and suggested I don't get the birthday pizza this year........ This goes beyond just using a coupon on a pizza... this shows me that Grimaldi's is a selfish, greedy company, that would rather put the health and well-being all of their customers and employees at risk, rather than adjust their policies to fit the current health crisis. Until this policy is changed, and the well-being of both customers AND employees are valued, I will not be returning to this restaurant, and I will encourage my family and friends to do the same. read more

I went into your location in Alen, TX, and had the most horrible experience. My wife and I came into the location around 4 pm. We arrived at the front desk in which we were not greeted and waited several minutes before being seated. The location was not bust at all during this time period. Staff looked our way, but no one came. Finally, one staff member came up to get us seated. Once seated, we did not get any service. We waited well over 15 minutes and nothing. People were coming in after we got seated and placed an order for drinks. We saw this happen with 4 tables. The staff looked our way, but service was never offered. I recorded it on my phone just in shock, and we got no help at all. I stopped one lady and asked to speak with a manager. She walked up to some male staff member, who I assume was the manager. However, the older bald man never came to our table. At that point, I had enough and walked out. I can understand how this potentially happened if you were very busy, but there were only about 5 - 6 parties, including us in the restaurant. I was truly disappointed with the lackluster of service that was provided. Almost looked racial as I have never had that happen to me in my life. We asked a able outside the receptionist said the table is for 6 guests, you are only 3 people, what if we get 6. I didn't understand what was this discrimination for. And besides that, their prices are skyrocketing, pizzas doubled in price. $31 a pie is tooo much. Ordered my pizza from here through DoorDash at 5:16pm. I was quoted that the order would be done in 55 minutes. When I arrived at Grimaldi's at 6:06pm they told me that I just placed the order and it would be ready in 2 hours. I showed them the email that says I ordered it at 5:16pm. So the waiter talk to the manager and said she could not move my order up so I could receive it sooner. So I asked to cancel my order. They told me that they canceled the order. Then I left to pick up some different dinner and to my surprise my order was not canceled. I called Grimaldi's and spoke with the manager. She said that she could not cancel my order, and that I would have to contact DoorDash to get it fixed. This is pure negligence of Grimaldi's staff. First they did acknowledge my order. They lied to their customer, and did not offer anything but a half heart apology and blamed it on the "system". I am a loyal customer to Grimaldi's, and I will not be returning to this Grimaldi's. read more

Not sure what's going on...but how is this the "new normal" here?! Have eaten here and recommended this place for years and we finally came out to support these guys after re opening back up to the public. We were fully prepared for there to be bumps or lines or some waiting...we went in with the intention of having a ton of patience. Weren't expecting the 2-3 hour wait from hostess. So she suggested to go orders were only 45 minutes wait. This was at 6:30pm. So we did both - we put our names on list since it's Watters Creek we could walk around etc enjoy the park have a glass of wine. Hoping we'd take our order to the park and then come back later for dessert and maybe more wine or coffee. 8pm we finally get our pizzas and salads to go. See the photos below. We took our food to the outdoor tables right next door and all the pizzas we ordered were cold and "dirty". One box even had chunks of coal in it. Needless to say our all our hands were filthy and our kids faces/cheeks were all dirty from the excessive coal. All the times we've eaten here never experienced this ever! Not sure what is going on but serving this kind of food to folks is not cool at all!! We dropped $120 in food and drinks for our family and though we were really trying to come out and support y'all - this was beyond frustrating and sad if this is the "new normal" for Grimaldis. read more

Watters Creek is one of my family's favorite dining locations, due to the variety of dining establishments available and the center green, complete with playground. Grimaldi's is a pizzeria serving up wood fired oven pizzas. The restaurant itself is busy; frequently crowded with a wait. Due to the proximity to the playground, expect kids. Good parents will select the outside eating options, since the porch does have access to the green. The bar appears to be full service and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. The pies themselves are pretty good but pricey. It's certainly a step up from Papa Johns or Dominoes, by several factors, but I find the crust, which is the most important part of a pizza, to be lacking in taste. They don't really season the dough and I don't taste the yeast, much less any garlic, Italian seasonings, or even salt. They rely totally on the freshness and quality of the toppings. Overall, it's a decent place to eat, especially with kids, but if you are a pizza fanatic, your search will take you elsewhere. read more
