Great selection of quality meats & products! I can't wait to try the Chuck roast & try the tomahawk!

    Ribeye burgers are the best.

Since my favorite local beef supplier recently closed down indefinitely, I've been on the lookout…read morefor another alternative option. I saw the grass fed beef banner at the Uptown Farmer's Market and headed over to see what they had available. Unfortunately there wasn't anyone at the booth so I had a wait for a bit but it did allow me to look at their meat options. According to the price list and information flyer, JH Grass Fed Beef is raised as naturally as possible. The cows are fed "as close as possible to their native diets. No corn, feed grains, animal or industrial by-products are used to finish the beef." While a few of the cuts of beef I wanted were sold out, I did get some good second choice options. I took home some sweetbreads, a hanger steak (Labeled as hanging tender on the package), and some oxtails. Prices were reasonable for what I got, and were similar to prices at the previous place I used to get beef from. Since I have never cooked sweetbreads at home, I was excited to try them out. They are hard to find so I jumped at the chance to experiment in the kitchen. To be honest, it was a very time intensive process trying to prep them and the result was just OK but I'm glad they offer them here for anyone that is more skilled in offal prep! I was also a little bummed that I had to do some prep for the hanger steaks as they come with the tough membrane attached so I had to do some trimming but it wasn't too bad overall. I marinated then placed them in the sous vide for maximum tenderness with rave reviews from the family. I made a delectable Taiwanese beef noodle soup with the oxtails. I will definitely buy oxtails from them again to make this soup! Service at the counter wasn't the friendliest nor the most helpful but hey, as long as you know what you need you're good. There are discounts if you pay in cash but you won't get a receipt. Details: - Animals are raised on pasture - Local, family owned operation - Grass fed, grass finished - Beef is locally processed, dry-aged and inspected under AZ Dept of Agricultural regulations - 3% off when you pay in cash - Chickens and pork also available - Available Wednesdays at the Uptown Farmer's Market

The meat does taste pretty good and I made sure to try out some different cuts before committing to…read morea larger order. When I order a half cow, I expect to get half the cow. I requested fatty ground beef and it's exceptionally lean. The steaks are horribly cut with no consistency. An example is New York Strip loins cut 3/4 inch at one end of the steak down to nothing at the other. which doesn't make it easy to cook. Then I got all rib roasts with no ribeyes. The tenderloins were barely a 1/2 inch thick. I actually got a brisket with zero fat on it but they had no problem leaving all the tendonous tissue attached so if you like gristle, this is your place. Lastly even though I could go on and on, I asked for all the extra fat and organs and got none of it. I don't even think I got the bones now that I think of it. When you go to the website to order you'll see why. They charge an outrageous price for all the other stuff that you'll find other ranches giving a deal on. Liver at $12/lb. Fat doesn't seem to be on there now but when I bought my cow it was $10/lb. Are you kidding me? I'll find another rancher to support and I recommend you do too.

I also looked for a beverage but they were out of the flavor I wanted. The bowls can be found in their frozen section although it was quite the hunt even though i\I asked where to find them. The report on the acai bowl is excellent flavor. You can leave it out to defrost or pop it in the microwave for a quick moment. I added my goodies and it was a filling and tasty lunch. As a side note, vitamins are on sale at 25% off. The sale is only a few days longer so visit them if you are in the market. Shared parking lot and WiFi in the store.

What really sets this store apart is how accessible the leadership is. You can almost always find the Store Manager Aaron, or the Assistant Manager Ashley, right out on the floor, rather than tucked away in an office. They are consistently ready to jump in and help with anything you need, whether it's finding a specific item or answering a question about a product. It's clear that the management team here prioritizes the customer experience, and that energy trickles down to the rest of the staff. It makes every grocery run feel seamless and stress-free. Highly recommend!
