I have to say that this location, as the one in Pearland, is one of my top faves when it comes to this chain. Centrally located in the heart of Pasadena where Spencer meets Underwood, it boasts a friendly staff, good grub, and killer drinks. The Veracruz dish, which comes with 4 monterrey jack and jalapeno stuffed shrimps, and combination fajitas with beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, pico de gallo, and tortillas, is delicious. The beef and chicken are grilled to perfection and the grilled bacon wrapped shrimp melt in your mouth. The rice is nothing to write home about, but seriously, the meat and shrimp are the scene stealers. If you're looking to watch your waist line try the chicken fajita salad and do yourself a favor and ask for the Amazon dressing.... Cream based with hints of cilantro and avocado! Personally, I like coming here for the happy hour specials after work. The specials run Monday through Friday from 2-6 PM. You can choose from longnecks for $3.50/ each (Corona, Tecate, Dos XX, Negra Modela, and Shiner Bock depending on the day of the week), draft beers (10oz for $2.89), and the Cadillac margarita (10oz of yummy hazy heaven for $4.99 - regularly $11.96!). I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars because I was very impressed with the customer service this evening. I take care of a girl with special needs so I went with her family to dinner here. The head manager/owner, Sam, came over to our table and talked to Becca, the girl I take care of. It was very sweet that he got on her level and said hi to her. Sam talked with us for a good while and was very caring. It was very impressive that he actually cared about how we were doing and all the things Becca can do rather than just making sure we were happy with the service/food. Sam gave Becca a T-shirt and a big queso to take home. As far as the food goes, I don't care for the steak fajita or the tortillas. But I really like the queso. Good for Tex Mex. Chips were nice and crisp. The salsa was typical for a tex mex restaurant; about the same as Casa Ole. The cheese enchiladas were good - very cheesy which was great. The fish tacos were nice but the fish was a little dry and they might have put a bit too much cabbage. And their ice cream was alright, except it was served in a plain tortilla (most other places do a cinnamon and sugar tortilla). Great place to go with the family for a little dinner party. Wow, what can I say. This place was just bad, from the moment you are seated. The chips and salsa: chips are thin (nice) but lack any flavor. The salsa, my guess is tomato sauce right out of a can and way too much cumin (the only thing you could taste was the cumin). Ordered the Shrimp Fajitas. That comes with pico, guacamole, and tortillas (I picked corn). Of the 8 shrimp on the platter, 5 were tough and rubbery, 3 were tender and succulent (the shrimp had good spice levels and good flavor). The vegetables (peppers, squash, mushrooms, and onions) were flavorless, the guac was bitter, didn't try the pico. Very disappointing meal and the server never queried why I did not eat my meal. I hate that. Update: I was contacted by Lindi of Gringos and get the sense that shes cares about their customer's experience. My husband and I love coming here every week. The location is great. Food and drinks are always great. Today was a very busy night. Totally understandable because it was the day after Father's Day and it was raining outside. Most people like to go out to eat during those times. I believe the guy who helped us was a host. He was wearing a red shirt with glasses and had darker skin. I didn't catch his name, but I wish I did. He was great! He took us to our table and sat us down. Roughly 7 minutes went by and we hadn't been greeted yet. He came back and took our drink order. Our waitress came by and took our food order. Food came out great. Drinks came out great. We were waiting a while to ask for a box and our check, and we saw the host and flagged him down. He got our boxes and check to us quickly. Again, he was great! Came here on a Friday for lunch. We came at 11 and were able to beat the lunch crowd. We were served quickly and the waitresses were knowledgeable and friendly. We had queso to begin with which was good but nothing spectacular. We also had the flauntas and the Diablo chicken. Both were good but very oily. I wouldn't recommend this place are looking for something healthy. The charro beans were very good though and made with good seasoning and quality beans. I have returned to this location many times since my first review, and I assure you that my poor experience has never been repeated. Last night was no exception. I took my elderly mother here for lunch when I was in town last week. She absolutely loved the food and the service. I agree 100%. The chips are so thin and crispy and the food was delicious and very fresh. Our server was a breath of fresh air. She checked on us often and her attitude was one that I won't soon forget. We sat for about an hour and a half because it takes Mama a while to eat and we never once felt hurried even though the restaurant was extremely busy. I wish I could remember her name to express my gratitude for the way she treated us, but all I can say is thank you and we will see you again next time I am in town. read more

Ok if you can't already guess, Mexican is my favorite food. That being said, I'm a little on the fence about this place. The chips and salsa were pretty good and the dip (not sure what it was) were good. I ate the whole basket of chips! I ordered steak fajitas with flour tortillas lots of cheese, refried beans and extra pico. The steak was a hard 4 and could have been a 5 but the seasoning (a little bland) just wasn't there. The tenderness was unbelievable. All in all a good meal with fantastic service (the bad reviews for service lead me to believe it was the author of the review not the service). Also by asking if I wanted chips and salsa like you offered the rest of the customers that sat after me. Does not matter if my tab was ToGo. A customer can always change their mind and a customer always notices the service others get and they themselves don't. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The food is always on point, and they have a very friendly staff. Their curbside delivery is very organized. Any changes that I make to my order are always welcomed, and most times with no extra fee at all. I would be willing to pay the extra fee. Gringos you have redeemed yourselves. After my last review I was contacted by the restaurant manager. I ordered take out once and also ate in and both times I ended up very satisfied. I did notice that they made the tortilla bowl shorter/smaller in order for it to fit in the to go box. I understand that they may be trying to consolidate packaging but still prefer how they used to pack their to go salads. Salads would be packed in an individual container and the tortilla bowl would be separate in a small plastic bag. This worked alot better for take out orders at the office as well. I am in love with Gringo's. Their green sauce is delicious. Their 'ritas don't mess around. Service is almost always attentive..now, it does get busy sometimes, just keep that in mind. I go to Gringos on my birthday..THAT'S how much I love Gringo's. Usually I order beef fajita quesadillas, sometimes the avocado shrimp salad, their tortilla soup is very good... I have tried a lot of their items and each one is what it says - never once had a complaint with any of the food I ordered. Their meat is juicy, never skimpy.. We never usually go to Gringos because it's ridiculous to wait for 45 min to an hr for Mexican food when there's a Mexican restaurant on every corner. So we went early (5:00 PM on Friday). We got right in, no wait, and we all had the pollo marisco, which is delicious. The service was great. But by 5:30, the front waiting area was packed. The only annoyance we had was a group of loud obnoxious ladies sitting behind us gossiping and being rude to their waiter. Giving very much racist vibes. The hostess sat us at a table in the middle of everybody and we asked to sit in the booth because my nephew was with us and we don't like to be in people's way but then she told us the table was broken and wobbly and they weren't sitting people there at the moment but then proceeded to sit a white couple down at the table we asked about. Then it took our server 15 minutes to approach us and when she did she took our drink order and when we said we needed time to look at the menu for the food she rolled her eyes and then had another server approach us as our server - I've been a server before and I know how that goes - thankfully our server was great and friendly. I think her name was tabitha? She had curly black hair in a ponytail. 5 stars to her ONLY the rest of the service before her was trash and obviously racist. read more

This is a pretty good Texmex place, but get there early (like 11-ish) if you want to beat the lunch crowd. They can seat larger groups as well. They also have a special "to-go" area around the back. Since this has been added, the wait for a single "to-go" order has doubled so it is best to order for a larger group if you want your order out fast because every time I'm there they seem to be focusing on the larger orders before the single orders. I typically either get the chimichanga or chicken enchiladas. They now offer the chicken chimichanga with fajita meat instead of shredded so I tried that and actually liked it better than the shredded version. The shredded version has more salsa and veggies in it while the fajita has shredded cheese and red sauce. And free soft serve ice cream when you leave - both vanilla and chocolate. read more
