I live in Crosby and this is the closest Gringos location to me. BIG mistake ordering to go from here. I ordered CHEESE quesadillas to go, with a side of charro beans. What I received is NOT that. The menu states quesadillas come with sour cream, guacamole, and jalapeños. It did NOT say it would include pico and lettuce on the side and corn, carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini INSIDE the quesadilla. That sounds like a vegetarian quesadilla... wtf. I even called back up there and pretended like I wanted to place a to go order and questioned what all was on the cheese quesadilla. Addie answered and reassured me it would only be cheese and tortilla. So I'm not sure how mine got JACKED UP. Xavier placed the to go order for me and the printed ticket states cheese, so I'm assuming the order was put in correctly and the cook just made his own recipe? Vegetarian quesadillas aren't even an option on the menu. Also, I live far away so it's not like I could run back up to have it fixed. So irritating! Had to pick it all off the best I could. We waited for ever just sitting and waiting patiently to place our order at the bar .. Evan a manager was at bar making a drink and never once asked us if we needed anything. After 12 minutes went by I ask a guy bartender and he said he will in a minute.. Well several minutes went by and I finally asked another bartender that we were ready to order .. We went on a Friday at lunch time the chicken tortilla soup was excellent but the service was terrible.

My husband and I were hesitant to try this restaurant because it only had 3 stars. But the positive reviews were very good so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed. The food was great and so was the service. The staff was so friendly! The chips and salsa were awesome, as well as the green sauce. Our only complaint- it was so good that we stuffed ourselves and now we're miserable! I got the fajita tacos and he had the chicken taco salad. We both had leftovers. First off let me say we actually love Gringos up until the last 2 visits. We will talk about tonight's visit first though in New Caney TX. We were seated at our table along with our 2 yr old Grandson. Time seated was right about 5pm. Our server did not show up for 20 minutes. Many staff walk right past us during this time. This should also include not getting the chips and salsa as well. Finally the waiter arrives, we clapped when he finally arrived ( still no chips and Salsa nor Drinks). I explained how really pissed by now without being served and told him how long we have been waiting and I wanted to see the manger after we get our drinks along with Chips. Food is great as always but they have a cooperate policy which judges based on a drink limit instead of a case by case basis. Instead of serving you based on your drinking capacity they either allow 2 doubles or 4 regular drinks. Which loses business and decreases the tips the waiters could possibly receive. read more

My son and daughter each got something different and thought their selections were delicious. My son said the fajitas were tender and tasty. The service was outstanding! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and super accommodating to my family and I. The chips and salsa were great, the queso was great. The tacos al pastor are a must! It takes up a ton of table space but is worth it! The only negative aspect of my experience here was watching multiple servers enter the restroom in their aprons. Super disgusting. I love Gringos, but not so much their bartenders. Seems to me they are biased, they only cater to the white folks. Yes I said it ...and people in New Caney/ Porter area will agree with me. The bartenders tend to the white folks first before hispanic or black folks. It has happened to us the last 3 or 4 visits. They ignore us like we are not there.. to the point I have to wave my hands. Terrible service at the bar with Cierra. It's obvious she hates her job. She has poor initiative and doesn't care how long you sit there. Had to ask for chips and salsa. Ordered queso and after 20 minutes I asked about it. She was annoyed she had to go check on it. Apparently, asking for silverware is too taxing given the amount of time it took for her to bring it AFTER the food arrived and AFTER we asked for it. I gave one star because it wouldn't allow a review without at least one star. I have dined at many Gringo's over the years including this location but I have never experienced such horrible service by not only a waitress but manager as well. Our waitress brought our drinks and said she would be right back to take our order, after 30+ minutes of waiting to order and our waitress nowhere to be seen we asked someone else for help. We finally placed our order and our waitresses disappeared again. This was not a busy time as it was between lunch and dinner around 2:30. She only had one other table that she also messed up their order and then argued with the lady that she order empanadas and not enchiladas. After 45 minutes she came out and we ask for her to at least bring the kids food out as they were starving at this point. She went to the kitchen to get the kids food (we can see her just standing there behind the glass) but doesn't come back out for another 15-20 minutes. When she does come she said our food was being plated so she decided to just wait for all of it to bring it out at once. We had to ask other servers to refill our drinks and chips. During all of this the manager Eli came to speak to the table behind us about their order being messed up. He was very defensive and kept saying it was just a misunderstanding. At that point I stepped in and said it was not just a misunderstanding and that this was the WORST service I had ever experienced. He said she was their best waitress but busy because it was turn over...ummm she only had two tables and couldn't handle properly taking care of either one. He offered a free dessert with we declined as we do not eat dessert and were also running late to a movie at this point. All I have to say is, if this is your best waitress, you should seriously consider firing everyone and starting over with an entirely new staff including a manager that is more sympathetic to the customers at his establishment. Also I will add how unprofessional it was to see two different waitresses standing between sections (by the drink/chip area) talking and looking on their phones at their social media accounts and showing each other pictures. As I was leaving I accident left my to go left overs bag/ meal on the table 90 % of the meal , when I got to my car I discovered I didn't have it , I rushed back inside but the bus boy had already cleared the table, I spoke with the waitress who had served our table as I was speaking with her near the kitchen area the both of the manager can out & I told them what happened and with out hesitation offered to make me another meal!! & the waitress brought it out to my vehicle, Now that's great customer service!! When faced with poor quality food as an unsatisfied customer I expect a pretty reasonable response from management. Having the assistant manager erroneously tell the general manager that I "threatened to kick his ass" when I simply asked him to "vacate my general vicinity" after insincere unsolicited platitudes were thrown my way and then be threatened with having the cops come to remove me by force while I work to resolve the bill fairly and amicably is absolutely mind blowing to me. I have no issue paying for food and (1 each) drink that was consumed by the persons present, but the assault on my character telling me that I threatened bodily harm to an assistant manager is absolutely reprehensible. Repeatedly I attempted to appeal to the general manager making it crystal clear to him that those words I was claimed to have spoken were completely fabricated and that his assistant manager was lying to what end I do not know. In the end he made it clear that I was either to sign the bill that was placed in front of me or to be removed by the police. Not particularly wanting to be removed by the police I signed the bill under duress and peacefully left the establishment after seeking out and tipping my waiter with whom I had no grievance separately in cash. Suffice to say I will never return to this location. I'm quite sure they will not be broken up about it but I would make sure that should you have any issues with your food you record the conversation taking place because the manager claimed to have a video recording of me threatening the manager which is of course an absolute farce having chose my words carefully because I did not want an altercation only space while I worked the matter through in my own head. read more
