Popped in for Cinco de Mayo & to celebrate my little bros bday. The watermelon margarita was hitting! Tread lightly because it'll sneak up on you!

I can't believe I never came here before. Great tex mex. Cool vibrant relaxing atmosphere and the waitress was very attentive. Food was good. I never had queso dip with chicharron before. We also ordered the chimichanga with fajita beef and it was tasty. The chimichangas were cheesy especially after pouring the cheese cup on top. But I asked for more pico and the flavors working together were amazing. I probably would get the ground beef chimichanga next time or not! I'm a typical sizzling fajita Tex mex type of person but I can't wait to comeback and explore more of the menu!

A staple local Tex-Mex joint serving up authentic food at great prices! We have dined here and other Gringo's locations countless times and the food and service are consistently fantastic. We have also catered many times and the quality is great. Ambience: Classic themed rustic Tex-Mex decor with dim lighting and plenty of seating, especially for large parties. Service: Impeccable. On our last visit, our server Michael took great care of us! Attentive and kind service. Food: The fajitas are among the best in the city! Very tender and flavorful. We especially recommend anything with their white marisco (seafood) sauce on top, like the pollo marisco or marisco bowl. For those into salads, their taco salad is huge and tasty. The queso dip appetizer is a crowd pleaser. Catering: We have catered for large events several times, including a wedding, and the food has been consistently delicious and hot. Food has also always been ready at the set time. If you want a taste of authentic Tex-Mex while in Houston at a relatively affordable price (Tex-Mex ain't cheap), definitely give Gringos a try. This place is Let's Eat Houston approved

I absolutely loved this place! It was very reasonably priced and the service was great. I had the seafood enchiladas with shrimp and crawfish and it was so delicious! I think it may be my new favorite thing here. I can't wait to come back.

I love Gringos for their consistency! I've ordered the same dish every time for the last 10 years and it's still sooooo good and probably even better every time! I love the Pollo Marisco and i highly recommend it. It took me a while to even notice that it had crawfish in it so if you're on the fence about that, just know that it's soo good and you've gotta try it at least once! Service is always great and ice cream cones on the house afterwards is always a great idea.

Pollo Marisco Chicken was already sliced when I got it, not what I remember as a chicken breast.

Evan was doing the best he could based on the fact he was doing bar/well and tables. The food was okay except tortillas were cold.

I drove there to order takeout. They were not too busy on Sunday afternoon so I got my food pretty quick. It was freshly prepared. I tried their PASTOR BOWL as it sounded like a healthier option. They were happy to swap the standard pork with chicken. It's a little pricey at $16 but was easily one of the best bowls I've had anywhere. This will definitely be my goto order if I find myself coming back here again!

My fiancé and I decided to finally try gringos since moving to houston (he's been here 2 years, i've been here a year). It was a place we passed many times and always said we'd go, but forgot when it came time to pick a restaurant. We fell into the position to try it, and were not disappointed! To begin, although it was 1p on a saturday, and they were busy, we got sat immediately. They were flipping tables like mad people, and the busers deserve an award. Once we were sat, we were given time to look at the menu before ordering. Some places that flip tables quickly also rush the customers, we didn't feel rushed at all. We shared the fajitas and they were DELICIOUS. We compared it to escalantes, and this wins 100%. The chicken had an incredible taste, the onions were perfectly caramelized, and the tortillas were fresh. Everything was so good we left stuffed. After sitting through an incredibly delicious meal, in a restaurant with so much energy. We wanted to enjoy the atmosphere a bit more. We got our free ice cream and enjoyed the beautiful seating outside. It was nice to decompress after our meal. All in all, we are very happy and we'll be returning.

Always good food here. And Bryan was attentive, helpful and gave great service! Tried the Whisky 'Rita and 5 sips in I was feeling it. I cheated on the Marisco bowl with chicken, for the fajita bowl with chicken and I want that old thing back... The fajita bowl wasn't bad but if you love seafood like me you will appreciate the crawfish tail and juicy shrimp in the Marisco bowl. Also the fajita bowl was supposed to be smothered in queso when it was actually just sprinkled. Probably didn't need it anyway. The Marisco bowl is always smothered in white wine sauce which is was tonight as well because my companion got it‍. In a quest to try something new, it wasn't a fail. I just prefer the Marisco bowl. From here on out.

Great Mexican restaurant!…read more We ordered the el molcajete, port carnitas tacos and steak and shrimp with a couple of margaritas and I have to say , I was very very pleased with our meals. Since moving here to Texas it has been quite difficult to find a restaurant that serves meals outside of Tex Mex . Something told us to explore the area a bit more and thankfully we did ! El fogon has been one of the most authentic Mexican restaurant we've had so far. In the month of May, my husband and I have ate here twice and every plate that we've ordered have been incredibly delicious. The meats are very tender & seasoned extremely well. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for dishes outside of the typical Tex mex. The menu has so many options and everything looks and smells so good. Their margaritas are made very well which is a bonus! I appreciate the assortment of seating (booths , patio ,tables & bar top ). I loved the decor and cleanliness. Our service each time has been top tier. The staff is friendly , fast and accommodating. Based on our experience both times, we are definitely returning and encouraging friends to try. I am ready to return already. Yum !

My family and I had been at this place for a while, and it doesn't disappoint…read more There are two sections that I can tell, one with a bar and one without one. I believe they have a private dinning area too (one of the school events happen there). It's a very colorful place and has an inviting atmosphere. The bar has a bunch of TVs, for those who want to catch the game. The food honestly looks average, but the taste is delicious. It's also vegetarian friendly. My wife, the vegetarian, asked if they can customize the Tex-Mex Enchiladas (instead of the plain cheese version), and they did. They made her a spinach and cheese, and she loved it. Two of their bean choices were vegetarian (not the charro beans which has bacon), and I think they had two vegetarian rice option too (no meat broth added). My oldest got the stuff avocado with chicken, which she liked a lot. My younger kids got the chicken nuggets, which kept them happy. I got the Ivannita, which is a little bit of everything. If you are hungry, this is a good option, as the Crispy Beef Taco comes out first. The taco shell was freshly fried. They use to have a free ice cream section, where you can get a mini cone with soft serve, but it's not there anymore. :( Overall, this is a great place to eat at with the family.
