We were certainly immediately. It was hard to believe at 5:30 at night that there was zero people in the restaurant dining... Literally zero. Wow, we did receive our waters right away. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for the server actually came back. We did order the chicken stuffed jalapeños. They came out in a reasonable amount of time and were very good. The El burrito grande and the fajita Relleno were both disappointing. I expected to have a Relleno with fajita skirt steak in it and instead was chopped up beef that was more like a pot roast stew than skirt steak. The Relleno was mushy and the coating was poor. Same with Burrito. Average. As mentioned in previous Yelp comments from other guests, it is fairly expensive. $24 for a burrito for example. Given the abundance of restaurants and proximity likely will not make any special trips to come back here. read more

I first encountered this restaurant when a group I volunteered with came by for a dinner to recognize the top volunteers. They served hot fajitas, strong margaritas by the pitcher, and had delicious desserts. Once the coordinator was gone, we started going elsewhere and I stopped coming here regularly. I found an advertisement on Facebook for a New Year's Eve special, so my wife and I swung by to check it out. They had deals on both fajitas for two and margaritas for two, which was right up our alley. The place was fairly empty, with just about a half dozen waitstaff covering for maybe 4-6 occupied tables plus patrons in the bar area. Service was extremely attentive and they seemed genuinely happy to have us there. The meal was so filling that when we got home, we didn't even dip into our NYE snack spread before. My wife is sold on coming back here regularly, and as long as they keep running such great specials, I think I am too. read more

We have been dining here for 20 years and have never been disappointed until last night, but kudos to the management for listening to my concerns and replacing our meals. We ordered on DoorDash which we had also done one week prior without any problem. When the delivery was brought to my house the driver was holding the bag sideways and told me "the food was too hot for the containers and the lid burst". This was a true statement because the lid of the tortilla soup was crushed and the soup had spilled all over the bag so when the bag was picked up it tore and the liquid spilled all over the driver. He was apologetic, but said "it's not my fault". Once inside, we checked all the food but all the containers had been tipped sideways. Everything was all mixed up and cheese /sauces had leaked out of the containers. The salsas and chips were fine, but when I opened one of the salsas the lid cracked in 4 places. I called and spoke to Ray and he assured me that the food had been packed correctly and any issues were the fault of the DoorDash driver (which I'm sure played a role in this incident). I expressed my concern that the styrofoam containers and lids were too flimsy for delivery and that some of the fault was due to these containers not being sturdy enough .... I made sure to tell him about the lid to the salsa cracking when I opened it and wondered if they were deficient/old. I didn't ask that they replace my order only that I wanted them to be aware, but Ray offered to remake our food if we would be willing to come and pick it up. We did so and enjoyed our meals very much: Enchiladas Del Rio, Veggie Enchiladas, and Veggie Quesadillas. In the future we will either dine in or pick up the food ourselves. I met some friends for lunch here last week. Inside it's decoratively attractive and looks like some Los Cucos restaurants around Houston. In fact, I was told they are related. The chips and red salsa (served cool) were ok taste wise and I gave them a 3. I ordered the combo beef and chicken fajitas with homemade corn tortillas for about $20 on the lunch menu. This meal was average at best. Neither the beef or chicken stood out and the platter had very little onions and bell peppers on it. The corn tortillas were large and the borracho beans were average taste wise. I saw nothing from my visit that would make me want to return and noticed that the lunch crowd was very lite that day so I'm not sure how popular this place is. My meal was more of a 2 than a 3 but I will round up because a couple of others in our party enjoyed their meal. read more

Surprisingly delicious! Happy hour food items are served only in the bar area but the alcohol items are honored at dinner tables. The HR variety of appetizers is good and good portions. Had a crazy experience. We have a table of twenty, the manager gives us ONE server for all twenty of us. The restaurant is mostly empty, the other servers (of which there were five) must have had two normal sized table AT MOST. But we have one kid just out of high school, completely overwhelmed and beyond his depth. He hardly checked on us, took an hour to take our order, took another hour after eating just to get our checks. The kitchen was reasonably fast, water service was attentive, food was pretty mid but not bad. I don't even blame the server, he was just a kid. But completely overwhelmed. I blame the manager completely. She stood around and did nothing while this guy took forever to serve us. I presume she knows how to write things on a notepad? Run a credit card? Inexcusable. We've been driving by this place for about a year and commenting on how festive and inviting it looked and saying "we need to try it"....the reviews were good and they were open on Sundays. My wife and only remaining boss and I really enjoyed the food and the service. We both got the coffee which was hot and very good, it came in cool Los Gallitos mugs....they are for sale and we bought one. The ground beef enchiladas were really good, we shared like always. The ground beef chile rellenos were as good as the enchiladas. They have many kinds of enchiladas and a few different rellenos, in fact the menu is nine or ten pages long and I saw many things on my "try next time list". 15 years ago, Los Gallitos (Sugar Land) used to be a staple in my diet as a 20 something year old kid, so It peaked my curiosity when a friend mentioned going to this particular establishment over the weekend. First, I'm a big fan of the outside architecture paying homage to Spanish missions of the 1800s. Adobe and brick make for an incredible pairing. The staff was cordial and every interaction felt pleasant. Management came to check on our table, while the chips and salsa never ran low. I was lunchtime, so I ordered the chicken tortilla soup (tortillas were incredible btw). My soup was appropriately spiced and plentiful. It honestly felt like an entire meal and would certainly recommend for someone looking for lower calorie or vegetarian alternatives (minus the chicken of course). Although I didn't get a chance to try their famous margaritas, my overall experience was great. Los Gallitos is undoubtedly a premier option for this cuisine choice in the SW Houston area. read more

I have used them for both catering services and gone to eat here at the restaurant. First the catering: The hostess brought the manager to talk to us and we talked about our needs. We needed to feed about 30 people, some who were not adventurous eaters, and those who loved Mexican food. After a few choices were presented, the manager made some additional recommendations, such as what to add. In the end we ordered fajitas (beef and chicken), rice, beans, guacamole, chips, salsa, cheese, tortillas, and all the fixings. We picked up the food (as the event was meant to be a surprise and we didn't want their deliver truck to give it away). It was for my mom and everyone at the event loved it. The food was hot, delicious and people kept fighting for more food. (There was plenty, just people being silly dramatic.) People kept asking where it came from and were genuinely happy. I say that was a five star experience. On to the restaurant side of things. Now, we still received great service, but I decided to mix things up and order their fish tacos, while my husband ordered tacos al carbon. My fish taco, was wrapped in foil and it seemed it was grilled in the oven, making it messy as the tortilla fell apart. It wasn't greasy--it had that I'm so healthy I'm falling apart type of feel to it. It seemed like the marinade got all over the taco. I would not order these again. The only other disappointment were the chips. They weren't stale. They were...extra salty? I didn't like them as I know for a fact they have better chips. I'm not sure why I didn't want to send them back, but I did stop eating them. My husband's tacos were great though. Our rice, beans, and the service was wonderful. Based on my food experiences here, I would think it's fun to experiment slightly with your orders, but know once you find a winning plate, you should probably stick with it. read more

I just wanted to let you know that we were at the Richmond location today and it was horrible. My mom had a salad and it had no dressing and it was soaked in water. We were missing utensils and had to wait forever. We didn't get served any water. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't serve rice and beans with my food. Unbelievable. So we came with reservations for a family function. We were seated promptly. Drinks and orders taken promptly. Chips and salsa , no problems. Problems: when orders came, they were wrong on many of the orders. Hell, I ordered cheese enchiladas. Got cold enchiladas with Charros and yes . White rice!!!! Second , there are five separate checks at this function. One, they charged each ticket like s 2 dollar service fee. Was told because it's a big table. Second, they charged each ticket a 20% tip!!! Yes, it is that good. Slightly more expensive than Lopez but the food is also clearly better (Lopez is very good too). Restaurant decor is old and somewhat cheesy. Menu was extensive. The portions are huge, and the service was attentive; maybe too attentive. The waitress would keep refilling my coke even though the glass was 3/4 full. Had the El Sabroso combo, which was one cheese enchilada, two carnitas chunks, and one beef taco al carbon. I was stuffed after finishing the enchiladas and one of the carnitas, and I normally eat a lot. Food was not very greasy for tex-mex and the salsa was garlicky rocking. Customers were all hispanic families, probably all Tejano since the folks and their kids were easily switching up between English and Spanish. Always a good sign when you choose a restaurant where the natives all come. There's plenty of great Tex-Mex in this city where I won't go out of my way to go here but if I am ever in Stafford, this is the place to go to. It's places like these that make me reluctant to go to El Real, which markets itself as authentic (in a historical sense) Tex-Mex when these other places are just as authentic and tasty at half to 2/3 the price. read more

This is not near to where I live or hang out, but it was a real treat to eat here. Great service, great food and reasonably priced margaritas make a great Mexican restaurant. I will have to find reasons to come to the Southwest side of town. Margaritas are on Happy Hour prices of $2.99 for a small from 1100 am to 630pm Wed-Fri and all day, Mon-Tues. I had the fajita enchiladas which were meaty and tasty. The rice and beans were as expected. The menu was huge with a lot of selections and I will be back to try other non-Tex-Mex offerings. read more

I'm not sure I remember when we started getting so many good Tex-Mex cafes in the Mo City area but I'm sure glad we have. This one stretch of Murphy Road has at least three decent cafes and Los Gallitos ranks among my favorites for value and that great Texas service. I recommend the beef fajitas. I ordered mine plain but if you want you can order with their special sauce on top. I prefer letting the beef shine through. I did order extra shredded cheese because it did not bring it and I like mine with shredded cheese in the flour tortilla with the beef. Good spice. Good flavor. And, best of all, great value. I'll be honest and say that I never eat the beans and hardly ever touch the rice. When I order fajitas it's all about the beef for me. But, in this case, I did eat the rice because it was delicious. Los Gallitos offers great Tex Mex home cooking in a warm friendly environment. We'll be back! read more
