You could call Grit 2C our go to restaurant.We love Grit2C! Although we are disappointed with the turn over of staff. We'v gone weekly for the past four months and seems like they just can't hold onto staff. Our favorites are gone. The current reception/greeter is just awkward....no personality or training??? I love a cocktail...there has definitely been a turnover in bartender staff ...the drinks have gone from great to just so so. Maybe it's growing pains. Hope they can get some consistent staff and a good bartender soon. The food is consistently good. Great fries and perfect dinner salad. read more

A little history here first. We have eaten at there location in Eagle and in Caldwell on multiple occasions and been very pleased with the service and food probably a 5 star experience. I am not sure if it's me or this whole COVID-19 thing has got everyone in the restaurant business scrambling to use cheap ingredients. Have had fish and chips 5 or 6 times has always been great. The last time we ordered to go and received as far as I can tell some off brand frozen fish and dollar store French fries. Not the fresh cut battered Fish and chips I usually get. I guess they figure it to go he'll never bring it back. Kinda like getting screwed at the drive through. May be a while before or if I give them another chance. read more

We're from Boise but we like to try different Bloody Mary places in the area every Sunday, this place did not disappoint! Homemade Bloody Mary mix that was killer! Third bad experience in a row. The service is extremely slow. They are clearly understaffed and there is a lack of personality with the staff. First bad experience, my daughter was sitting at a table with her cousin, they went to the restroom and the staff cleared all their food which they had barely touched.....then charged us for the food they threw away. Next one, the bartender was also our server, we saw him twice the whole meal. I kept having to ask other servers for refills and napkins, etc.. last time was insanely long to order and get our food. A table was sat after we ordered, got their food and almost finished before we got our appetizer. You could tell our server was overwhelmed and they just kept seating more people when they were clearly understaffed. I love the food. It is so great, but there is definitely a lack of experience in managing the restaurant. Too many tables squeezed into the restaurant and not enough staff. I came here for lunch with some friends a couple weeks ago and was impressed! The food was really good! The waitress we had was really nice, but was a little slow at times. I know they are still a bit new and they did get hit with a bunch of tables at once, so I could see how it happened. When it first opened, the food here was amazing. Best french dip around, and the burgers were fresh and soooo juicy. Went for lunch about a month ago and my goodness they've changed. Maybe different chef? But I ordered the french dip, and I swear it was deli roast beef, not nearly as big as before, and cold. What a disappointment! But everyone has a bad day, so I went back and ordered the formerly juicy and delicious 2C burger. Again - so disappointed. Smaller than before, and really dry. Maybe they don't put bacon in the ground beef any more? I had bragged about the restaurant to a friend, and was quite embarrassed at the food. At least the servers were masked. Grit was great! I had the chicken fried chicken which was quite tasty. The biscuits are to die for. My only problem is that the biscuits are sweet. So we have been to this place 2x. Forget about it if you are carb conscious. Grit is obviously going for that southern flavor menu.. With hospital room decor.. But its southern from about 20 plus years ago.. There are only a couple healthy diet choices on this menu.. Kudos for the nice salad choices and kale being an option.. Wings nowhere to be found and no grilled entre options?? Hit and miss for me.. Was really hoping for a go-to hangout in Caldwell to get a good meal but I won't go back to Grit because I can't eat breaded food or high carb food. read more

So we decided to try this restaurant. I ordered a salad and an appetizer with the intention of taking home half the salad. Due to the salad bring an 8 dollar salad I figured it would be large. When it came out pre dressed I was dismayed because most restaurants have the dressing on the side. When I explained I was disappointed and why the person who bring the salad was unconcerned. I asked if the salad could be remade with the dressing on the side as I had anticipated. I was told no. Later the same person actually came back to the table to argue with me saying the description said dressing so it was a given that it would be predressed. I pointed out that most restaurants indicate what dressing goes with the salad but that doesn't mean they apply it to the lettuce. I ordered a house salad that came with different options of dressings. Definitely will not come back. Pleasing the customer is not a goal of this establishment. read more

We have eaten here twice in the last week. We really want this to be a great place. I hate giving it 1 star and I'm still hopeful they will prove us wrong. In our first visit my husband and I had chicken Caesar salad and the Nashville Chicken sandwich. My husband liked the Nashville chicken. I didn't think it had enough spice to warrant the name Nashville chicken. My Caesar salad was good and bad. Good was the romaine lettuce and dressing. Bad was the weird addition of tomatoes which I twice said to please hold AND the strange wads of chicken which seemed like they came from a bag of frozen chicken wads- dark pieces. I would not order that again with the chicken. My husband would order the Nashville chicken again. Tonight we went back with two others. We had salmon tacos; salmon Caesar salad; jambalaya; and Farro salad with an app- sun dried tomato dip thing. The dip thing was horribly weird. Such strange taste combinations and not in a good way. The farro salad was tasteless- which was such a bummer- I LOVE farro salad. The jambalaya was such an unexpected bowl of glutenous grossness. My husband said the flavors were good though. Our daughter had the Caesar salad with Salmon. Again- the romaine was good and the dressing and this time they did hold the tomatoes. Half the salmon seemed good and the other half was raw. Finally, the salmon tacos were stated to be okay. No salsa with it. Nothing interesting about it. Just okay. On the most positive side, we had great bottles of wine albeit overpriced...... but not that much different than most restaurants. Even though they didn't have a wine list tonight because they were out of so many wines....according to our server. We will give them another go because we really do want them to succeed. I am a HUGE fan of Grit in Eagle. However this place is 100% different. The menu is very heavy & meat based. No lighter fare, or decent options for vegetarians. Everything comes with a side of fries or tortilla chips.... and it is a ton of beef beef beef. They were out of their best IPA our dinner took an hour to arrive. And the dining area is very buffet style. Not intimate or comfortable. I had the fried cauliflower + asparagus with a cashew chutney paste, which was not worth the $11 for a deep fried vegetable it was far to greasy and flavorless for my taste.The only vegetarian entree was a glorified $15 salad that was in the entree section and not the salad section *weird* my husbands burger was brought out with out his fries and sat on the table while we waited for 20 minutes for the fries to arrive. By then his burger was cold because he wanted to eat it with fries. We made the drive from Nampa in hopes that we wouldn't need to drive to Eagle for delicious food! This place is very country southern comfort food. It may be for Caldwell folks but it is definitely not my jam. read more

My family and I came here because of its cozy appearance and atmosphere. We had 5+ a baby. Sat at 530 and ordered at 545. 625 asked how much longer it would take as we watched the table that came in after us get their meals... a table of four. 645 our baby was done, still no food. Asked for our check for the salad we received 30 minutes earlier. 650, got our check and was told that they were super busy. Sorry. My wife was irate as she spent the majority of her work life in the service industry before she then managed a restaurant. Can't imagine how busy you can be during restricted capacity due to Covid. But as I read the Google reviews I see that long wait times are the norm here. Super disappointed. Should have read them first. I write this review as I sit in a drive thru getting food for my family. What was supposed to be a fun night out in Indian creek enjoying a meal and lights was spent waiting over an hour for food then going home without enjoying the lights and settling for fast food. Went here on a tip from a local while I was visiting from Oregon. I had the 2-c burger. It was definitely one of the best burgers I have had in my life. The hamburger here is 10% bacon! Their beer prices were good too. I had a tasty local IPA. I definitely recommend this place to others! read more

We had the Artichoke Dip as an appetizer and burgers for the main course. These were the best burgers either of us have ever had (and I have had many burgers). Grit is a welcome addition to the downtown Caldwell area. The food is good and the environment is alive and positive. Definitely what Caldwell was missing. If I had one criticism it would be the service is a little slow making it hard to hit it for lunch. I'm sure they are just working the kinks out since they just opened. I'm giving it a 3 star but it is more like a 2.5 star. I love the creativity of the menu. Adult meals were good, lots of flavor but a little bit on the spendy side for lunch. We ordered an appetizer, Sun Dried tomato and Artichoke dip (tasty), fish & chips which were average, Spicy Nashville Chicken sandwich and the Pastrami sandwich both had a nice twist on the usual preparation. We ordered the kids mac and cheese which according to the menu was $6 and it came with fries or carrots sticks (I believe) and a drink. When we asked about the sides for the kids menu the waitress quickly informed us it no longer came with the sides because the feedback was it was too much food. My complaint here is that the menu says it comes with it. We asked if we could go ahead and order it like the menu offered. We were never asked about the included beverage. When we got the bill we were charged $6 for a small bowl of mac and cheese and $3.75 for fries. Way too much $ for a kids meal. $59 for lunch before tip is expensive for lunch. If you advertise something, you should honor it, that is just good business. read more
