I'm pretty new to cycling, but I've already taken 3 classes here and every single one has been an amazing experience. The energy is unreal -- both the instructors and the community bring such positive, motivating vibes. Everyone is SO welcoming, especially for beginners. The instructors helped me adjust my bike, get my shoes clipped in, and made sure I was set up properly before class even started. That kind of support seriously makes all the difference when you're new. If you've been nervous about trying cycling, this is the place to start. Great energy, great people, and such a fun workout. I finally had a chance to stop by a different Grit Cycle location since I was in Irvine on a Sunday Morning I booked the last class of the day and went there.... The layout is totally different from LBX and the employees are cool and friendly....though I'm really used to the location I go to.... My bike was in the back corner but overall sound and air flows through well and it feels a bit more compact than the LBX location it is still a great place to ride! The bathrooms totally different all unisex and 2 were really small one was larger (assuming this was ADA compliant)....there is only one shower that is unisex as well....and shared sinks.... Definitely location is smaller but overall it gets the job done and as long as the instructor, music and class is good that overcomes everything! read more

GritCycle has been in Costa Mesa for more than a decade and you can definitely tell why this place continues to be relatively busy even when the indoor cycling trend is diminishing. The quality and consistency of the instructors is always appreciated and I love that the focus at Grit is on community and not just about doing crazy choreography on a bike that goes nowhere. Now, as with any group fitness class, there's some instructor playlists you vibe with more than others, so that's for you to determine as a rider what vibe matches yours. All I can say is don't call it quits after taking only one class and one instructor as every class is similar but every instructor brings their own unique energy to the room. The cycle room itself has these very zen dim blue lights which most of the instructor use to set the mood throughout class and the cold towels at the end are definitely the perfect ending to an excellent 45 min class. They have one shower available at the Costa Mesa studio, a water filling station, restrooms, a small vanity area to blow dry your hair, etc. read more

I have been looking for the same vibe, same amenities, same style of teaching as cycle house for a very long time since I moved back to LA and finally found one in OC area!! . Joined my first class today and I just died!! This is the feeling I always want when I attend a class. The energy was so great. Elizabeth was very welcoming. Grit Cycle is my favorite heated cycling studio. The instructors are great with high enthusiasm and intensity, and the studio itself is very clean. I did a 2 week unlimited pass for $70, which was a steal deal, and absolutely loved it. I did a class every single day. Such a fun, amazing workout and I always feel so good after! Danielle's 5:45am class is about "Your Daily Practice." I drive from San Clemente to take her classes in Costa Mesa and Long Beach. Danielle and her PIC Kate bring great energy each class. We are committed to being there at 5:45am which is a lot of self-discipline and commitment . I met Danielle when I was in pursuit of 200 rides in September. December 28th I accomplished 300 rides and 1st time podium rider. She takes time making her playlist and she is very open and honest with us. She pushes us to greatness each time and not to settle. I usually go to the locations in Long Beach.. glad I tried this location. It sure if it's just me, but I feel like the saddle room here has more space! I always feel so cramped in the LB locations. I will say, the parking lot here is so small, as other yelpers have said. But luckily you can park in the neighborhood with little effort. I hope the residents don't mind! This is a no-brainer to try if you like spin classes... I haven't found a better studio... that is honest. I've been to several of their locations and Costa Mesa, I believe, is the most intense which I love intensity in fitness. Their Instructors are also really good, they vary in their playlist, but it's rare that I feel like the class could've been better. read more

My first class at GritCycle was on Thanksgiving morning and it was honestly pretty awful. I wish I hadn't started my Thanksgiving day off with this experience. I got a confirmation message the day before my waitlisted class, leading me to believe I was booked for the following day's 10:45AM class (screenshot attached). I arrived at 10:41AM the day of my class, and when I checked in at the front desk, the receptionist was curt and told me she didn't see me on the list, no other explanation. Didn't even make eye contact with me as she said it. I patiently asked her whether she could double check because I'd gotten the text (which I showed her) -- she told me being "checked into a class" isn't the same as being able to attend a class? Not sure what that even means? Eventually she said she could "get me off the waitlist" and assigned me a bike. One of the assistants walked me into the class which had already started, and discovered all the bikes were taken because some people hadn't checked in and unofficially took bikes. Instead of escorting them out so that I could used my assigned bike, I was instead asked to wait for the next class (12PM), which I was patient and said ok to. I ended up waiting in the parking lot for 45 minutes. I got to the 12PM class at 11:45AM, and after checking in, one of the attendants simply walked me to my bike and left right after. I received zero instructions on how to adjust the bike -- which according to a yelp review I read is NOT the norm for someone's first time? I'd assume it's important to adjust a stationary bike to your appropriate height/stature so you at least don't injure yourself. Keep in mind that I had told the receptionist AND attendant that it was my first time at GritCycle. When the class ended, the attendant walked around and handed everyone a wet towel to wipe down, including the girls to the immediate left and right of me, but entirely skipped me. Specifically, she made eye contact with the girl to the left of me and the right of me, but overlooked me entirely. I don't know if this is because I'm new to the studio, I'm Asian, or anything else discriminatory, but that was a terrible first time and I would not recommend this studio. read more

Workout was great and would have come back if it weren't for the constant expletives and f-bombs that the instructor used throughout the class. The instructor was energetic and technically good as an instructor and could have motivated the class easily without the addition of the vulgar words. I came to workout which should be a good place for all, not sure what the motivation is there. When I got home I googled their name and I guess this is part of their brand, It actually mentioned vulgarity and the content of the music they play. Kind of a bummer in my opinion as I don't see the point. I guess they are trying to cater to someone specific... thought working out should have been the common thread. read more

The room was very dark so in order to avoid tripping I turned on my phone light. She snapped at me telling me "you need to turn that off" which threw me off a bit. At one point I was obsessed with SoulCycle and had paid the $1k largest package that was on sale for Thanksgiving. I was a big SoulCycle girlie and then I moved to Orange County and SoulCycle closed a bunch of studios because of the pandemic, making the closest SoulCycles Los Angeles and San Diego. I immediately went on the hunt and GritCycle IS my favorite OC studio of the many I have tried. GritCycle has all the similarities of SoulCycle or that tier of fitness studios (think Barry's). I always get a great workout, high production value with lights and audio, great community, nice cooling towel at the end. The main differences are the bathroom isn't as bourgie but is great (this location has a shower). Staff is always super nice. Classpass can be tricky to book since they have limited seats but I've noticed GritCycle does a good job of having discounted packages fairly regularly. Will definitely continue my love for this cycling studio and their many branches! read more

I've been coming here for years and I am obsessed! Gritcycle's unique approach to indoor cycling is intense, fun and motivational. I am pushed to my limit with each ride in the saddle yet I walk out feeling euphoric. The teachers are incredible, and the staff keeps the studio very clean. My newfound health addiction! I started coming here in January and got hooked from the first class. Now I'm there twice a week, rain or shine! Everything about this place is 5 stars! The center is clean, modern, and intimate. The equipment is new, and always feels very well maintained. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Huge plus that they call you by your first name. I rode with a few instructors, and they're all great in their own way. But I must say my all time favorite is Charmaine. She's caring, she's encouraging, her music rocks, and SHE rocks! I can't wait to get to her class every week and feel incredible at the end of them. She has been the starting point of my health journey and has positively affected me more than I can ever put into words. I highly recommend both this center and this instructor. It was my first time going to GritCycle. And I had a blast! I went with a couple of other people who have been before and they were nice enough to walk me through it. I downloaded the GritCycle app and redeemed by first free ride (that's right! Your first GritCycle ride is FREE! FREE SHOES TOO)! So class time reservations get released every Sunday at 4:30PM. I set an alarm and it was kind of nerve racking because I heard that spots can go quick for really popular instructors. So we all did a countdown to 4:30PM lol Luckily, my entire group had no problem and we were able to book a class with Steph for 10:45 on a Sunday! We arrived at 10:20ish and it was perfect timing! I know others have had a hard time parking, but we magically arrived as the class before us was leaving so it was really easy to get a spot. Most of us got a spot in the lot and our other friend had an easy time parking in the neighborhood as well. Once we arrived it was pretty easy! My suggestion would be if it's your first time, let the workers know because they give you the star treatment! haha The workers were super friendly and informative. We checked-in for the class with the worker and she helped me get set-up with shoes for free since it was my first time. I headed to the locker room which had lockers for everyone to put their things in. The restrooms were nice and I loved how they also had spray deodorant, face wipes, and lots of hair ties! Once the room opened up we headed in. Again, let the workers know if it is your first time! The workers helped me adjust the bike, learn how to get on and off, and basically told me all I needed to know. After that, THE FUN BEGAN! Steph was a great instructor! She had really fun songs and had lots of energy. The friends that I was with said her class was a great class to start with as it was intense, but not too intense and intimidating. They also offered ear plugs which I opted to use. The music is REALLY LOUD so on one hand the ear plugs were a great option, but on the other hand, it made it difficult for me to hear what Steph was saying. Warning: THE ROOM GETS HOT! I've seen some comments about it and it does get warm in the room as the A/C doesn't seem to circulate well. But I didn't mind it too much! It was like hot yoga...but for cycling haha Overall, a really fun time! I'd totally go again! A FUN AND GREAT WORKOUT. read more

Grit seems to always come with a lot of hype but having gone for 6 classes, I don't see where the hype comes from. Maybe because I've tried many other studios (CAZ, B2TB) or haven't taken the magical instructor. The facility is good, the bikes are great, the atmosphere is fun. Reviewing instructors is fairly subjective but my biggest complaint is how basic the choreo is. I've been to 4 different instructions and while the music is always good, none of the instructors really push you with sprints or hill climbs. Majority of the class is on flat ground, doing various upper body movements. Of all the instructors I went to, there was only one that I would never go back to. All the others were great, I just wish they would push us harder. I'm drenched in sweat at the end of class but its more of a factor of how hot it gets in there. read more

I LOVE HOW THE BUSINESS MANAGER RESPONDED TO THIS REVIEW BUT DIDN'T EVEN ADDRESS MY CONCERNS! Coach Andrew is definitely a 5/5 stars!! He had so much energy to give to the class when he coaches and has inspiring/encouraging words to share. The reason why this location is getting a 3 stars is because I expected more from Costa Mesa/Newport Beach. They only have one shower room, the parking lot is very small and you need to get here 30mins early just to find a parking lot, everyone is all up on each other when they are putting their stuff away. The bathroom looks tacky meaning the sink area is right next to the restroom , the amenities were lacking this definitely is not Orange County material!! I took my very first spin class at Grit. The employees were so friendly and welcoming. They made me feel very comfortable. Checking in and settling in was very simple and easy. The class was very fun and it was such a good work out! The class I attended was a full class. I felt like the room probably needed more circulation or something because the room was getting so stuffy. It made me feel dizzy and I felt claustrophobic. The cold towel with essential oil that was provided at the end of class was a huge bonus! The downside about this location is the parking. Parking is very limited and street parking was very difficult to find. read more

This is one of my favorite spin studios in Orange County and easily in my top 5 favorite workout places in Orange County. The ambiance is cool and modern but it isn't a clique-ish environment. The instructors and staff are welcoming and they offer a lot of deals throughout the year because they want you coming back and working out with them. My favorite instructor is Kelsey. First time rider as I was traveling in the area. I appreciate that the first class is free- I will be back later this summer. I loved the set up in this charming building. Check in on one side and then lockers and bathrooms on the other side with the actual studio in between. I was fortunate to get into Amelia's class at noon on a Saturday. She had a rider with her on the stage which made it even more fun. I had not brought my cycle shoes with me due to limited space, but I think their shoes are more comfortable than mine! The class was lively and had good choreography with great music. Also the volume of the music was not too high so riders could still hear Amelia's comments. The only small negative was the temperature of the room. It got hot quickly! It felt like the fans in the room were not turned on right away, and maybe they even need one or two more fans. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Anything less than 5 stars is crazy. First of all, the manager Victoria is AMAZING and she's the reason I came back after trying this place for the first time. The entire front desk staff makes you feel like family (shout out Whitney and Jo) - I am always greeted with a smile, they always make me feel SO welcome. Every instructor gives everything they have to make sure we have a crazy workout while simultaneously having a fun time. Chelsea and Patrick are also the reasons I have come to ride over 200 times. The studio is clean, the workouts are amazing, and I've made some really awesome friends here. I love GritCycle & the community they provide. Gosh I loved Grit. I want to preface this review with that. I spent many years loving this company. With that said, I am updating this review for the lack of transparency this company has with it's community. A little over a year ago, they parted ways with a instructor when she addressed their lack of inclusion with the POC in their advertising and social media. She offered support and guidance in how to move forward in an inclusive and diverse way. They chose not to. And when called out by many riders, they never addressed the concerns. This is when I stopped riding with them. Fast forward to this past month when they were once again called out for a very tone deaf post on social media, asking for transparency on their efforts to make their studios more inclusive and safe for POC. While there were very helpful and educational call ins on these social media posts (where Grit NEVER once responded) they chose to DELETE EVERY SINGLE public conversation. This company is founded on the image and essence of a man who has been called out for racist and problematic behavior and even at the request of their patrons, never once has acknowledged or addressed that very pillar of what the company is founded on. This post was a last resort. I wasn't going to write this but after seeing all the deleted constructive and fair conversations on their social media threads, I felt I had to voice my concerns on a public forum that couldn't be muted by them. read more

I have knee issues and limited to exercises that impact my knee but this has no impact on my knees and loving every class! Plenty of street parking. read more

As a road/mtb racer I needed a place to go when it was raining and I had heard great things about grit cycle and decided to give it a go. I have now been to probably 20 classes and absolutely love it. Kelli and Molly are my favorite and I try to go when they are teaching. I have read some reviews where people have said it's not a hard work out and I have to say that their resistance must not be up lol. You can make these classes as easy or as hard as you want and I will typically just double the amount of turns the instructor says so it is more difficult. I highly recommend this place to cyclists who want to cross train or mix it up as well as to people looking for a super high energy, good vibe work out.
