I was working in the area and went here for lunch - arrived around 11 am. There was a small group of people waiting outside. I entered the building and since I was by myself I was seated immediately. I ordered the Beach Burger with grits as the side . I mean it IS called the Grits Grill - had to try the namesake item! My meal was ready with little waiting. Nice plate presentation. Burger was an ample size. Grits were served steaming hot. The Grits were pretty good - I have had better grits at restaurants that advertise "stone ground grits" These are standard cooked grits done well. Burger was tasty. The place was rather busy and I felt the staff was doing a good job of keeping things moving. read more

This was a good 7 miles away from our location in a shopping mall. It has a diner feel and seemed pretty clean, but old. We were greeted at the door and the service was fast and friendly. We had a BEC croissant, hash browns, scrambled eggs, choc chip pancakes and shrimp and grits. The croissant was quite large and delicious, but not toasted. I'd recommend asking for it toasted if you like the light, flaky croissants. The hash browns weren't my fave, greasy, mushy and bland. I'd try the grits next time. The eggs and bacon were good, although most places in OBX seem to have the really thin, cheap bacon. I was told the pancakes are delicious and the grits and biscuit were very yummy. The shrimp didn't get a good review. IMHO, very good breakfast. Will give it another try for sure! read more

Stopped here based on Yelp reviews. Was not disappointed. We were met with friendly "Hello"s. Our drink order was taken as we were seated and within two minutes our waitress brought them and menus. We ordered clam chowder and salads. It's not on the menu, but they do have 1000 Island dressing. And it's wonderful! The chowder was great- a cup is a regular sized coffee cup. House and BLT salads were large portioned with fresh Iceberg lettuce and large chucks of tomatoes, onions, and green peppers. The BLT bacon was crispy (and plentiful). The hard boiled egg was still warm. (I opted out of the croutons). The staff was top-notch. Our waitress was very attentive but not over bearing. Even the busboy was helpful (getting us To-Go cups for our drinks). We will definitely return. read more

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I've given this restaurant a few chances to redeem themselves. The staff is not friendly, even in the off-season. That could be overlooked except the food is not good either. My eggs are always over cooked and for a place with the word "grits" in its name they make the worst grits I've ever had. If you want a great breakfast there are so many other excellent restaurant choices on the beach. read more

Doesn't look like much because it's in an average shopping center. The wait was a little long for a Tuesday morning but it is in a high tourist area that I feel does not have may breakfast spots. The staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious! Best breakfast I've had in the obx so far. I got a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and it was massive. The grits were amazing and the hash browns too. My son got biscuits and gravy that was delicious and my husband and daughter got French toast. Vacationing in Cape Hatteras with few restaurants open in winter so we drove north to Nags Head. This true diner is worth the drive! We did breakfast but lunch options look amazing (we will go back!). Omelets are huge, fluffy and tender. Grits or hash browns, can't go wrong with either. I asked if the sausage gravy had chunks in it and was told yes. It was just canned or powdered gravy with only a couple small pieces of sausage, I didn't even finish. 7 of us showed up to eat with 3 following in a third vehicle. We we told to wait outside while they got tables and chairs together. The 3 people show up and we are told to wait outside a second time. When they come get us the table is still too small for everyone and they have to pull yet another table over. The food was plentiful and good. Bathrooms were cleaner and more modern than the rest of the restaurant. Would go back with a small party. Large groups seem to be treated as lying lepers. read more

We had 2 breakfasts at this wonderful diner. Food was fresh and delicious and plentiful. Try the waffles - amazing. Service is efficient and friendly. Also, they are reliably open unlike others (looking at you TL Family Restaurant-drove there to see sign on door that they are closed Mondays until further notice and you Dunes Restaurant - drove there at 7:05AM to see place locked up and empty with no sign explaining).
