I worked very close and ate there many time. i ordered basic meals and they got used to me coming in. I always tipped well but the service got worse. They got in the habit of not checking on the customers and were more concerned with their phones. The last straw was getting served COLD fries. I honestly believe they were off another plate. I complained when I checked out because the waitress never checked and was told "we'll make sure next time " never went back. read more

Went in for a late breakfast with the kids and seeing that they closed at 2pm I assumed that meant breakfast would be served throughout. Unfortunately, I found out they stopped serving breakfast at noon at 12:04pm. Left to go elsewhere, and as I didn't eat any food I cannot advise upon that. Food absolutely horrible. Had chicken fried steak, white gravy, cornbread and creamed corn. I've had better TV dinners. The only thing that had any flavor was the canned creamed corn. And the servers could care less if your there. Not one had a smile or personality. Asked if coleslaw was creamy or dry. She didn't know. She doesn't eat coleslaw. WTH ? Food is always great. Very home cooked meal vibe. Service is alright for the most part. Out of the couple times I've been, my order was only wrong once but they just forgot cheese in my grits so that's not a big deal at all. Inside is very much diner vibes. Will always come back! read more

I have been going to this Diner for more then a year.... In the begining, Waitress's were nice & friendly, Food is very good & hot. Over the last couple of months almost all the original staff is gone, & the way of seating, menu's, & taking order's is ridiculious.. Needs a floor manager that knows what they are doing... Once seated, the Guest should be given a Menu, Drink, then take their Order,,,,,NOT wait for 4 different people to do the job.... All waitress's share tips, which is fine, As they all help each other. The Guest would get food faster, Leave, & table set up for next Guest,,,,, So they would make more tips, for a faster turn over. I have enjoyed The Bankhead Diner's food for a long time.The catfish on Fridays is perfectly cooked & on the days that they make homade "Swamp Cabbage" is awesome! I love "Swamp Cabbage!" I have eaten here for years, but no more. Service has been getting worse, today finally took me over the edge. We waited forever for anyone to take our drink order, and then got it wrong. Then another forever to take our order. I ordered a western omelet with salsa. When it arrived - out of salsa. Ok that would have been nice to know. Then no one checked on us again. Had to go to another table to get pepper. Then I had to wait 5 more minutes for someone to come to counter so i could pay for this disaster. We have to drive a ways to get here. I chose to eat here for lunch because it's the closest restaurant to an indoor play place (think inflatables). Typical old-school Southern diner fare. For lunch there were sandwiches like tuna salad, grilled chicken, and burgers, as well as "meat & three" options with ham, country fried steak and tons of classic sides like mac & cheese, fried okra, creamed corn, pickled beets and cucumber salad. It's passable home cooking, nothing fancy or outstanding. The service stood out because it was slow. It was lunchtime on a weekday, but it wasn't that busy. My friend had to get up and hunt down our server to order our food because we waited so long, and then I had to ask twice for milk for my child (although she didn't charge me for it because of that). If you're in the area and want a predictable, cheap meal, it's fine. read more

I had gone to Stoddard's next door and decided to get a bit to eat. So I went to see what all the fuss was about from the previous reviews. I fully expected a train wreck. What I saw was a decent, but older little "mom and pop" diner that does old school home-style cooking very well. The staff is not trained to the level of the Georgian Club, its true, but then again, this is not the Georgian Club. It appears to be a small family owned and operated business so people multi-task. The country fried steak was great, the mashed potatoes were fine. It was all about what I would expect at the price point. My friend had the chicken and raved about it. If you are looking for a 5-star experience, this is not your place. If you are looking for good food, reasonably priced served in a old school diner style, well, this is not a bad choice. I did not see any confederate flag t-shirts. I did have the waitress that one reviewer suggested was on crack or a prostitute because of her mouth and eye movements. She was very competent and good. She does have twitch or two appearing to be something like a hyperkinetic disorder to me, but I guess for some it is easier to classify anyone with disability a crack head. I will be back when in Douglasville. Overall, I find this to be a good place to eat. read more

If you want straight forward, no frills meal then this is a decent place. I don't want fancy or frilly. I want a reasonable meal, decent service and fair prices... that's Bankhead Diner. We happened upon this place after going to Stoddards. The Friday special was fried catfish or popcorn shrimp. I had the catfish, my husband had the shrimp. We both were very satisfied with the meal. I found the whole fried catfish delicious. It came out hot, not greasy and the cornmeal coating was well seasoned. The turnip greens served as a side were also seasoned well and the hush puppy was very good. My husband also enjoyed his fried shrimp basket which was typical of a popcorn shrimp basket with coleslaw and french fries. The diner closes at 7 PM on weekdays and has mainly breakfast and lunch items but they have a daily special which is appropriate for lunch or early dinner. There is nothing fancy here but we'll be returning to try some of the other specials. I definitely recommend going for the Friday catfish. read more

The food is typical Diner home cooking food. There was really rotten service. The waitress came and took our drink order but, NEVER came back for our food order! I had to go up to the cashier and ask if we could order. The waitress came to our table but never apologized. If I didn't have my hungry son with me, I would have left after the drinks. The waitress did offer to put our drinks in to go cups at the end of our meal but, that was the only nice thing that she offered. read more

we went there in our mood for breakfast and these girls who worked there that day were very rude and one of these girls act like she was on crack because of the way she act, moved her mouth, and eyes wide open trying to act like she is a prostitute so we decided to leave right after we done eating and went up to the cashier and gave my credit card which i wrote on the back stated "check id required" and the lady got upset because we didnt give her the tips and she just swept the card without asking for my drivers license and we "argued" with the lady by law she must check the drivers license and she kept complaining about not getting tips and we explained why we didnt give them tips due to her attitude and behavior and she walked off so we left and called this restaurant and asked for the manager and they hung up on me numerous of times so we decided to drive back there and asked for the manager and guess who came up to us? the lady on crack... of course! and we were like speechless and explained the whole situation and she just didnt seem to care and i told them we wanted a refund and she refused so we handed them couple of papers that says by law whomever must check drivers license if back of the card says it needed to be check... still no luck so we went to the bank and filled out paperwork so we could get a refunded... we decided not go to this place ever again!!! read more
