I'll give the food and service a solid four stars, their shady charging practices get a 1 star. I really enjoyed just about everything about this place until my wife got the final bill. As she handed me the receipt I noticed a $3.60 "Check Out Fee". Unfortunately I noticed it well after they had ran my card and we were on our way back to our campsite. I have tried to get a response from them as to why they feel it is OK to charge some random check out fee...I guess next time I just stay at the table until they close and will check myself out. May or may not go back, will definitely warn EVERYBODY I know to validate their statement before the sign so they don't get stuck with any extraneous fees. read more

Grizzly Grill was our 1st sit-down dining experience in the past 4 months since the beginning of COVID-19. The restaurant staff and kitchen wore masks at all times, tables were well spread apart and although it was a bit strange to be eating inside a restaurant again, we all felt comfortable and safe. The food was delicious, I think I raved the most about my meal, the Linguine Frutti di Mare. The mussels were delicious, the scallops buttery and the shrimp cooked perfectly in a white wine and garlic sauce that was a perfect pairing with the seafood and linguine. Looking forward to our next meal at Grizzly Grill and grateful to their management team for heeding the COVID-19 advisories so we could enjoy diving out again! read more

This place was fantastic. From the food to the service everything was spot on. Came here on New Year's Day for dinner and was promptly seated. The tables have paper on them which mean you can color on your table which is a lot of fun. Our party was quickly greeted by our server and brought water. I ordered a glass of red wine and the others got a mixture of beer and wine. I had the compass merlot because I figured it would go with the steak I was planning on getting. It as it would turn out perfectly complimented the steak I ordered. Everyone else was very satisfied with the selection that they had for beer and wine. We ordered our food which came with soup or salad. I got the salad which was fresh and crisp and the balsamic dressing was very good. It wasn't overdressed which is nice. We also got warm bread and butter brought to the table. Which was soft and very good. The soup of the day was a carrot ginger. When I tried it, it was velvety and well balanced. You got the carrot and the ginger without it being too gingery. The steak I ordered was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. With the mashed potatoes and the sautéed veggies it was a great dinner. For dessert I had the crepe brûlée. Something I completely adore. I love the sound it makes when breaking into the first time. The service was prompt and very friendly. With our server coming back to ensure we had everything we could have wanted. The only downside is that last night was their last night for 6 weeks because they are closing for the season. We were extremely happy that we got to try it before they closed and will definitely be back. read more

I had a wonderful bridal shower here, they did a taco bar with cocktails and I couldn't have asked for a better location+ on top of that the girls helping with it were all amazing. Really good service and decent food, but I can't justify a fourth star. My wife's chicken gorgonzola was a tasty but skimpily applied sauce over a dried-out slab of breast (that's what you get for ordering chicken), and my jambalaya...just missed. It seemed to have been cooked for spice-averse Iowans rather than Louisianans. Desserts--chocolate decadence cake and beignets--were excellent, and the service, again, was perfect. We'll probably go back if we're in town, but it isn't worth a special trip. read more

I can't believe I haven't left a review yet for this wonderful place! Love everything about it. The food and the ambience and the owners! Some of my go to items to order are the Lamb Shank (reg not early bird because I love the bean and onion base it's served on), the dinner salad with house dressing which is a has blue cheese crumbles and candied pecans in it, yum. If you are fortunate enough to go on Clam Chowder night, it's the best anywhere and I've tried a lot of clam chowder! The ribeye is awesome too, and for dessert I gotta have Apple Crisp and cup of coffee for a fine finish to an awesome meal. What a sad experience at Grizzly Grill on Friday, 12/3. I called late afternoon to ask if they had reinstated bar stools at the bar and that we'd like to come by for a drink. I was told yes, their bar is open. (nothing said about reservations) We get there and there are 5 stools, 2 are occupied. We sit at the other two only to have the hostess tell us someone has reserved those seats and we may have to move. 30 MINUTES later the people who made the reservation show up and we are, in fact, TOLD to move. I ask the hostess "if we were sitting at a table in the dining room and someone showed up 30 minutes late for a reservation, would you make us move?" She says no, in the dining room they wouldn't. We move to a table and within a few minutes the bartender drops our bill. We aren't asked if we'd like another round of drinks, if we wanted to order dinner-- nothing. We own a home here in Graeagle and spend most weekends in this community. It's clear Grizzly does not want our business. read more

We went to the Grizzly Grill on Saturday April 3rd. We had a reservation for the deck at our request. They sat us immediately, took our order as soon as we were ready, but we weren't pushed. They shared the specials, and the "early bird" specials. Each of us ordered a special, Salmon, Lamb shank, Sirloin steak and pork roast. Each came with a soup or salad, and our substitutions were easily accommodated. Their food was prepared perfectly! Every dish came out at the same time, was hot, and presented beautifully! The service was wonderful, cheerful and prompt, from delivery to removing the plates. But what I want to really enunciate was the amazing taste of their food! There wasn't a morsel left on any of the plates! We shared all of our meals with each other because it was so very good! I was very pleasantly surprised with the Grizzly Grill. Fresh food from local growers and the prices were very reasonable. I had the lamb shanks and was treated to the most tender "fall off the bone" lamb I had ever tasted. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Graeagle area. The Grizzly salad that I ordered was great! Fresh greens, blue cheese crumbles, copious amounts of candied walnuts and a wonderful balsamic vinaigrette. For an entree I had the fettuccine carbonara. The twist on this version was the Gorgonzola in the sauce. It was DELICIOUS! My dinner companion had the pot roast and it was excellent as well. Too bad we didn't have room for desert because they sounded delicious as well. The staff greeted us when we arrived and was attentive. Definitely worth going to over and over. read more

Oh, where do I start? The food is always so delicious. I've tried most items on the menu. Chef Chris and Chef Brenda make a great team and it's so fun to watch them cook. The bar and wait staff are always very friendly and fun to chat with if you're there on a less busy evening. Recommendations from the menu: Carbonara, Lamb shank, and/or Calamari. Pro tip: MAKE RESERVATIONS! It's a small, but very popular restaurant in a tiny town. It's not unusual for the tables to fill up. read more

We dropped into the Grizzly Grill upon their Saturday night opening at 5pm. We each opted for the early bird special although we're not retired, walker-enabled, old folks in an ancient El Dorado Cadillac. Our dinners included a minuscule minestrone soup (just put in a cup!), salad, bread, and dessert (one scoop of vanilla ice cream with or without chocolate syrup). My steak was very acceptably good, not fantastic, and my wife's mushroom pasta was also good, not fantastic. That being said, it was still a solidly good meal. We give them props for fresh ingredients, a pleasant wait staff and a nice knotty pine dining room. Not a bad place to get a meal on a nice summer evening. Go have a try yourself. It's definitely in the upper quartile of options in the area. read more

This review is not about the food. The food here is always GOOD!!! We had 5:30pm reservations on a Monday night. Arrived about 5:15pm and were seated with menus. After looking at the menu and just before we were ready to order the table next to us, and apparently locals were seated and asked for the early bird menu. We asked our waitress what is an early bird menu?? She said that it was a special menu for meals before 6:00pm and asked if we would like to see it. I watched as several tables were seated before 6:00pm and NONE were given the special menu!! I find this VERY RUDE!! If you offer a special it should be offered to ALL not just those in the know!!! In our opinion, having lived in Clio for 5 years, this is the BEST food and service in our Hidden Sierras! The owners are wonderful people, down to earth, and we love them and their food! EVERY meal we have ever had here has been served with excellent service, friendly and professional servers but, the BEST review is of the out of this world, and absolutely delicious food!
