My goodness, i LOVED GT's amazing deep-fried goodies! We were vacationing in Seaside from Las Vegas, NV; and kept on passing GT on the road. The husband & I happen to be fans of fish & chips! We were super excited to try deep-fried tuna, since neither of us ever had that before. WOW, we were elated to have had the pleasure of eating the FRESH & comforting fish & chips. The flavor was phenomenal, but the dipping sauce (I think it was sour cream & diced pickles?) was too rich for already fatty/rich tuna. My remedy was to squeeze fresh lemon juice into the sauce. Much better after the modification. read more

Went here while visiting for my girlfriend's birthday and holy cow... The flavor, no joke surprised me at first with the explosion of flavors with the tender tuna, the fresh vegetables, and a splash of lemon that make your mouth water. Service was alright but I did come late (6:30). The drive thru with a rustic aesthetic is quick and convenient considering the freshness of the food. read more

Small Pod near roadside to get some tuna fish and chips. Only limited parking is available. Large portion has 5 breaded fish with generous amount of fries. Tuna is crispy and tasty. Definite stop by if visiting seaside/Astoria area. Place could get busy over summer read more

Delicious fish!! My 19 month old son loved the fish and chips with tartar sauce. The whole family did. I ordered the fish tacos. They were good, but a little spicer than I would have liked. There's no seating, it's grab and go. We ate at the beach, which was a short drive away. read more

I was super excited to stop here and try this fish, after reading reviews, but, left super disappointed! The fish was SOOOOOOOO dry, I was unable to eat it, and threw it away, and as far as the fry's go, they were mediocre at best, nothing to write home about at all! read more

Tuna is a different fish for fish & chips and fish tacos but it's all I'll ever crave from now on. If you're used to beer battered cod, this isn't it, don't expect it. Albacore is firm and meaty, but not dry. Super crunchy panko batter holds up excellently to the perfect amount of fillings, which were perfectly balanced with spiciness and tart (no side lime needed which is rare!) Possibly the best fish tacos I've ever had! Thank you to the person who said "you must stop at Grizzly Tuna for the fish tacos" as the first thing she said when she heard we were in Seaside. Fish & chips are generous with the fish, the 5 piece is worth every penny. Fries and just fries, nothing special, no complaints either. Also, this is a tiny drive thru and your food is made to order. The pieces of fish were very dry and thin. The breading to meat ratio was completely out of proportion. For this kind of money, do yourself a favor and go up to Astoria for incredible fish and chips at The Bowpicker. read more

Went here with my family and we absolutely loved it! We got 2 orders of the fish tacos and we all loved them. Super fresh and glad we stopped by here! Saw multiple people leave in there cars after 5 minutes or less of waiting which is hilarious because they are used to McDonald's food being thrown out but took less then 10 to get fresh food and was so worth it and everyone that left definitely missed out! Absolutely fantastic fish and chips and even better fish tacos. Very used to eating fish tacos being from Southern California but not so with the fish and chips. The fish tacos are far better than the majority of the Baja style tacos I'm used to. High quality tuna fish, fresh tomatoes, and a unique sauce make for really good tacos. Only thing they could improve is maybe make your own tortillas. If they did that, their tacos would merit Michelin recognition. The fish and chips also amazing. Panko style crust, small cuts but lovely tasting. Really dig this place and been three times. Quick service too! read more

I love it when someone has a limited menu but does everything really well. The tacos are messy but oh so tasty. A bit spicy for me but my husband loved them and want to put them in the rotation when we're in the area. Fish and chips were great very firm tuna and not greasy. We ate at the picnic table there but traffic was a bit loud. Recommend getting to go and taking it somewhere peaceful by the ocean to eat. read more

YOU MUST STOP BY HERE! the best fish and chips I've had. I'm not from Oregon and I get sad considering how far I am from grizzly tuna... haha. My husband and I over-ordered but we didn't regret it because it was just THAT good. The large fish and chips contain 5 pieces of fish. The breading is amazing. Incredibly crispy. The same goes for the French fries. Most fries go soggy after 30 minutes or even less. These fries remained crispy after a hour! It was perfectly seasoned and fried. Flat out perfection. There really isn't much on their menu. So we also got the fish tacos as well and they were just as amazing! Refreshing to top it off! This is a drive by spot. They do having seating but it's close to the drive way and it doesn't provide any shade. We still ate there with our hats on. It was just fine. I highly recommend this spot. Both fish and chips and tacos are great(tacos might be a little better). Wasn't sure about tuna breaded, but it was better than halibut fish and chips. Generous amount of food. I ordered the 2 fish tacos for $10 they were pretty good. I would say they need a little more flavor but good. The service was great but the drive thru line was a little bit long. I think they should have someone outside doing the orders to speed up the service but overall it was good. The place is small so drive thru is the only option. I would come back here for a quick stop. read more

Stopped here and grabbed a large Tuna and Chips and the Fish Tacos. The fish n chips were absolutely outstanding. I've literally never had more perfectly fried tuna. That said, it gets pretty one dimensional with just tartar sauce. In case the owners read this, I would strongly recommend offering a dusting of curry powder or nori or even Cajun seasoning on the fish and introduce a curry mayo or a wasabi mayo or even a simple spicy mayo dip along with the tartar sauce. This will elevate the fish so much. And if you're really feeling adventurous, try a Japanese curry katsu over rice or a katsu sando with the fish; it will be heavenly. (Okay I know I got carried away there but the fish is so good that it's worthy of Japanese katsu). The tacos were fantastic. It in 4 minutes it took us to drive home, the crunch batter had just about soaked in enough of the sauce to make for an outstanding bite. Overall, really great food at fantastic prices. Would love to see them get a tad bit more creative with the incredible potential they have for doing so. read more

Tried this place 1st time 2022. Based on reviews... wait time in drive thru wasn't bad at all. There's some tables outside but close to main road. Not greatest place to sit and eat. We took the large order out to Sunset Beach and ate. Overall, pretty good. Panko like breading. Fries about same cut as McDonald's. I would give the fish n chips a 3.75 out of 5. A tab dry and breading rock hard on some edges. Thickness of fish cut about 1/4 to 3/8th thick. So over all pretty good but didn't knock my socks off. Friendliness was about a 4 out of 5 rating. Not super friendly, but more of a hey, another car of people ordering vibe. Two large orders and a 15% tip was around $35. Like I said pretty good, but not amazing IMO. read more

Top Notch Fish and Chips. Period. I will swear by this place on my life. The tuna is flavorful and the fry's are awesome. Couldn't have been better and the service was awesome. For 5 larges, they were all hot and cooked perfectly. This is a example of a small restaurant who doesn't mess anything up, yet have their uniqueness. I really wasn't expecting the tuna to be so, good, yet not flashy or odd. The fry's and Tatar sauce were good Ol fashioned, and made amazing. I have had plenty of fish and chips but have never had it made with tuna! I initially was intrigued and not sure if tuna would work It was actually quite good! Not beer battered, but very crispy and the tuna was nice and flaky. Small order comes with three pieces of fish for $10 which is a nice snack. All of it is made to order and they basically only do tuna fish and chips. It is basically a drive up stand only kind of like those drive up espresso shops so you will be dining al fresco or in your car. If I was alone, I would not have stayed... The calamari was good, not great but good. The clam chowder was good. I am not a huge seafood eater, I got the breaded, grilled chicken breast and a based potato -- it was really good. Dry, but good. Our server was great! Food was good. Overall the smell would probably make me not come back again.

Loved the seasoning on it (possibly Old Bay??). The cute fish plate had cocktail sauce for dipping. Had a strong horseradish flavor. I had my first visit to Grizzly Tuna just a few days ago. I got to say I think this place is going to be around for awhile. I will be a repeat customer every chance i get. I ordered the five piece with fries and i was 105% full when I finished. (the extra 5% is where I think most people can relate to the after thought of, "I should not have ate all of that") The tuna had good flavor, the breading on the fish was just right. I like fish and chips were you get "Fish" and chips, some places serve something closer to fried batter and chips. The drive through window was perfect for swinging in to get a good quick hot meal on a short lunch break. I pulled in, placed my order, watched my fish and fries hit the fryer, and in no time i had food in hand and back on the road. I guess to sum this up I'd say well done to the local owners and operators, you guys have nailed it in my opinion. After reading a lot of reviews, a few that compared Grizzy Tuna in Seaside to Bowpickers in Astoria, we decide to try both and judge for ourselves. My husband and I decided we prefer Grizzly Tuna. It seems like the tuna pieces are a little bigger with less breading and are not as greasy. In addition, at Grizzly Tuna, you don't have to wait in a super long line for 45 minute and they DO accept debit/credit cards which Bowpicker does not. Price wise they are the same but I think you get a little more for the money at Grizzly. I will return to Grizzly again but do not think the wait at Bowpicker was worth it. All in all, fish and chips using tuna gets my vote. I normally don't like fish n chips but this was awesome! read more

This fish and chips shack is the best kept secret on the northern oregon coast. I travel weekly up and down the Pacific Coast and I can truly say these guys put their heart and soul in to bringing you the best high quality deep fried tuna loin you can get, sure you can go anywhere and get deep fried "fish and chips" but do you know where they get their fish? Great food, convenient location, fast and friendly service. A perfect coastal lunch on the go. The fish was battered and fried perfectly. Prices are comparable to anywhere else on the coast for this kind of fish and chips. It was a nice sunny day out so we just walked through the drive through - ordered and had our food promptly and got to enjoy the coast sun at a few nearby picnic tables. Couldn't help but be intrigued by a roadstand stand called Grizzly Tuna. So glad we ventured over to try it out. We had fhe 3 piece and it was simply amazing. The tuna was fresh and firm. When we first walked in, we were a bit confused since it seemed like it wasn't actually a restaurant and was instead a fish market - it turns out we went into the wrong door. Bouy's Best Restaurant is the building that says restaurant outside, not the market next door that only sells fresh, frozen, and smoked fish. We elected to get the Captain's Platter to share as it seemed to include most of the fried items that they serve. It's great for sampling! Captain's Platter ($34) - The Captain's Platter is served on two trays - one with the fries, and one with the seafood. The fries are pretty standard commercial battered fries. Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. Not really much else to say. The seafood plate consists of one piece each of lingcod, salmon, and halibut, two oysters, one razor clam, and two prawns. I love the batter they use here - it's light, lacy and crisp. Not quite as light as tempura, but it stands up against the fish well, and it adheres enough so that a hearty bit won't leave naked pieces of protein or hollow husks of batter. While there's a bit of oil soaked into the plate, the batter is not oily at all. Starting with the fish - I understand now why salmon isn't used for fish and chips much since it gets dried out a bit. Still good, but not as good as salmon could be grilled or baked. The taste is quite different and a bit stronger to the typical generic farmed salmon. I'm not sure what the difference between halibut and lingcod is since I don't have too much experience with the various types of fish. One of them, which I think is halibut, tastes a little bitter and has some strange fatty and tendinous parts. I didn't enjoy eating it due to the texture and taste. The other piece, which I think is the lingcod, is also a little acrid, kind of bitterish with a very distinct taste. I think this is why fish & chips is traditionally cod - it's much lighter in taste. But if you're looking for something a little more flavorful, lingcod and halibut might be the way to go. I don't really like oysters and the fried oysters included in the captain's platter did not change my mind. They are mushy, very briny flavored. The prawns are pretty solid, good and sweet. The tail part of the shrimp is so crisp you can easily eat it without any issues. Finally, the razor clam is very good. Nice, large, and chewy. My favorite was the clam, followed by the salmon, prawn, cod, halibut, and oyster. (3/5) On the side, they server a cup of tarter sauce, cocktail sauce, and slaw. The tarter sauce is very creamy. They are heavier with the mayo than most tarter sauces. It's tangy and quite rich, but I feel like they add quite a bit less pickles than other places. The cocktail sauce it just a nice refreshing and acidic sauce to break through some of the fat in the batter and seafood. The slaw is interesting. It's quite sweet and acidic, with bits of pineapple mixed in. It works well with the seafood. There's a wedge of lemon included as well to add more acidity to preference. Clam Chowder, Small ($7.99) - This is a decent clam chowder. The clam taste comes out quite well, followed by a bit of vegetalness from the mirepoix. The razor clams are cut into larger pieces than traditional clam, resulting in meatier and chewier pieces that I would normally expect. The broth is thick and rich, but I'd say not as creamy as most other clam chowders. It's more of a grey than off white in color. They are pretty generous with the ingredients, with the vegetables, tender potatoes, and the aforementioned clams. That all sounds good, but the major downside is how salty the chowder is. The amount of salt they add makes the clam chowder a little unpleasant to drink. I didn't end up finishing the chowder. (3/5) Overall the food I had at Buoy's Best was kind of meh. After I ate the fish & chips I felt a bit burnt out on this dish (even though I had only eaten it twice that week). Was it the difference in flavor vs. other fish & chips? I'm not sure, but I don't think I would revisit Buoy's Best. I'm not saying the food served here is bad - it just didn't work for me personally.
