I'd absolutely recommend this store. The team is wonderful, the prices are great, and parking is easy. As someone with a disability and spinal issues, I really appreciate how accommodating they are for disabled customers. Always a bit of fun visiting this Grocery Outlet in Auburn. Shelves are always well stocked and always a few real bargains that can easily be found. Good service at the counter and even when it gets a bit busy the lines go quickly. A good selection of fresh produce at attractive prices and the frozen food section offers a lot of quality products. I've been buying their shrimp and salmon the last few months and not only good pricing, but great tasting wild-caught fish that has been flash frozen. Owned by a local family. read more

The people who work in this store are VERY HELPFUL and friendly. I ALWAYS go to Grocery Outlet before I go to a 'full size' grocery store like SavMart of Safeway because EVERYTHING I buy at G.O. is so much cheaper than the other aforementioned places. Never again ! Went to get some pots and plants today , I put a M size pot in my cart ( not heavy ) a worker comes over and says stop can you wait and move out of the way I have someone coming through the sidewalk , said ok moved over waited a min then decided ti just go inside and pay for everything including the pot I didn't get yet , as I walk away with an attitude says do you need something I said nope and kept walking into the store , I pay for my things the cashier asked if I wanted help getting the other pot or if I wanted to get it myself , I said I got it it's not heavy . I go back outside no one around I go to get my pot and they had moved all the XL pots to the front blocking me from getting my pot so I pick one up to move it out of my way and as I go to sit it down the same worker yells at me so I sat it down a little to hard as she startled me and it cracked she continued to yell at me so I start to walk away from her and was going to go around to the front of the store and return all my items due to her attitude. , she yelled at me saying I'm calling the cops on you blah blah so I go back through her went inside returned my things paid for the cracked pot as she said if I didn't the cops were coming , then they were surprised I wanted the cracked pot !! Umm I paid for it so ya I want it , I also let them know if they don't want people touching the pots then 1 they shouldn't have given me the option at checkout and 2 put up a sign that says associate only . I have been going to this store for over 20 years and have had great experiences with the staff and food selection. Today I was in line with my family and had Scott A as our cashier. As he rung us out he seemed upset that we wanted to use paper bags he became agitated during the process and began slamming our groceries on the table as he bagged them. I said it was not a big deal and he could use paper or plastic if it made him feel better. He replied with "no you said to use paper so that's what I'm doing". I have never experienced this before at this or any grocery store. I am hoping that Scott was just having a bad day and hope he is not like this with other customers who ask to use paper bags. read more

I love this place I mean it's my go to but they seriously need a health audit! They aren't running their backroom effectively and are selling expired rank meat. Just bought some pork chops that were definitely spoiled and many products are obviously sitting back there unrefrigerated then refrozen!! They have in my previous visits supported different charities. One time an Auburn Food Bank was there. I was doing the Salvation Army bell ringing at Save Mart. One person ask if Salvation Army accepting donated turkeys. I say to him not visiting but of I am new to Auburn, not know how to answer that. "However, I not sure where Grocery Outlet is located. I did see some big trucks for a Food Bank in Auburn." Maybe ten minutes later he comes back, puts money in the kettle, says he was able donate two turkeys. Another time Grocery Outlet having a fifteen dollar barbecue dinner. It benefitted some kind of Military organization. Good prices here. Receipt always says customer saved so much money. One time five bananas cost one dollar twenty five cents. That is like twenty five cents per banana. Wow ah wow. Great place to shop. read more

So many different brands and strange new food items to try and I am always curious, hence, the large amount of items I seem to find. The Auburn store is smaller than Grass Valley and Roseville. It's not a place you can run in and grab something in a hurry because their product selection changes and if you're there when it's busy be prepared to stand in long lines at check out. GO advertises low prices but I've found that most of the time they aren't always the least expensive on items you can find elsewhere. It's fun to go in periodically and see what they have that you might not find at other stores but this is not a place I'd do my regular shopping. read more

Wow ! Been shopping here forever ! New ownership has not been great. I had to ask an employee a question regarding my previous purchase. (Within 3 days- had receipt) she needed to ask a manager. I had to wait as they were on lunch - no big deal. I shopped instead. When I finally was able to meet with the "owner" she couldn't have been less approachable. I felt uncomfortable and a "bother". She was also pretty short & snippy. The previous ownership would have never presented themselves in that light. Good thing we have bunches of options in Auburn, as I won't be back. Hello Scott and Amy,I am reaching out as an Auburn resident and GO shopper. I recently had an unpleasant experience with your cashier 0775 - Maria. Upon checkout she was quite rude and disrespectful to me. She claims she is a manager, but I find that really hard to believe. It's a problem to have any employee speak to a customer disrespectfully, let alone a manager. Normally the cashiers are quite friendly. However, Maria is a total smart mouth nasty person. If this were my business I would be concerned about her impact on the operations. She seemed quite emboldened in her interactions with me, as if she is above all common sense and common courtesy. I simply told her the number of berry packs that I had, to which she replied, "I know how to count, but thank you." Her aggressive attitude is completely unnecessary and unacceptable. I told her I took issue with her statement and she doubled down stating she was sorry I felt that way. No, I don't feel a certain way, it's just plain unprofessional, totally uncalled for. It's already out of my way to stop in. I will re-think my future plans for stopping in now that I know there is a snarky person there. As a small business owner myself, I really encourage you to ask her to check her attitude at the door. She is there to represent you and I am sure you don't want her to turn off customers. read more

One word: Baskets! I've never been to a store before that only has shopping carts, except for Costco. This isn't Costco. Please please get some so people can be in and out. I only go here for groceries if I absolutely need something in a pinch. The store is probably the shabbiest of all GOs I've been to. The Auburn store has definitely improved considerably even since I last reviewed.... I haven't seen expired merchandise for quite some time. Grocery Outlet in Auburn California went above and beyond yesterday when I went in on crutches. Debbie helped me get an electric cart and put my crutches up front while I shopped in the store. Then when I went to check out, the checker was so sweet and nice... she asked one of the employees that was just coming back in off his break if he would mind helping me out to my car. He had no issue doing that all and went and got my crutches from up front, loaded my car for me, and helped me to my car door and opened it. What a gentleman! And the caveat is, the watermelon I bought there is one of the best we've ever had...PLEASE shop there... it's well worth it. read more

Wearing full bicycling gear (helmet, jersey, shorts, cleats) I stopped in here a few weeks ago - to pick up a few items - while my bike was being repaired nearby. At first glance I noticed, that there were numerous people in line waiting to check out; and not nearly as many checkers / baggers to accommodate them. Upon entry a checker asked that I check my backpack (actually a Camelbak Bootlegger). I asked why, and she said security reasons; I asked what about the person who came in before me with the larger backpack - she said she didn't see him; even though he was still directly in front of me. I told her no ..... I will not check my pack and went shopping. After finding the items I wanted - nutrition bars - I too stood in line. After several long minutes, and a stagnate line, I decided the purchase just wasn't worth the way I felt having entered the store. So, I placed my items back on the shelves and proceeded to leave. When the same clerk left people at the registers, followed and watched me leave, I turned around and showed her ..... the bag was a wearable water bottle. She promptly returned to her register. GUESS WHAT: I had never been there before - nor will I EVER return. I wonder if my treatment had anything to do with my ethnicity? read more

This is by far the best Grocery Outlet location that I have to. The Sacramento locations are known to be a little scary and full of twitching drugged out folks, so in comparison, this place is full of winners. Matt C. is spot on when he mentions checking expiration dates. I have accidentally purchased month expired organic apple sauce. If you care about buying organic body products at a cheap price, this is your place. Today I bought some Nature's Gate body wash, Alba body lotion, and a large bottle of Seattle Organics castile all-purpose soap for a grand total of 15 bucks. If I had been shopping at the Natural Foods Co-op in Sacramento I would have easily spent closer to 30 dollars. read more
