First time coming here - will not be back. There's a cat on the counter, no problem with cats but is that a good idea when you are bringing in new and nervous animals? Asking for trouble. Second, it's cramped and dirty. I don't expect a grooming shop to be clean, but this place was grimy. The cages face the grooming area and are too small for nervous pets. Lastly, the lady up front was as helpful as a lump of coal. She spoke in the most monotone, unhelpful, unfriendly manner. Shop was empty, gee I wonder why with an attitude like that. read more

I had been looking for a place that offered services for cats for years, as I have a long-haired ragdoll cat that requires regular grooming/sanitary trims. I was also wanting to get my kitty a teddy bear cut (short haircut but not shaved to the skin), but it's rare to find a groomer that offers that type of precise work. Groomingdales not only was able to get us booked quickly in the same week, but they accommodated my cat's needs when she felt scared or nervous. They rescheduled us quickly for a time when the space would be more quiet for my kitty, and they were excellent communicators through the whole process. I have a cat that needed some serious grooming. Groomingdales wasn't our first choice but ended up being our only option due to other businesses being booked out until August for cats. Groomingdales was able to get my cat in within a week so of course we went with them and I'm so glad I did. The lady who worked on my cat was informative and did an amazing job grooming her. The price was reasonable especially since the cat was in rough hygiene shape. I'm not a Yelp review kind of gal but I definitely felt like I needed to give this review to thank them. My cat just seems so much happier after her grooming. Although I know the staff had a challenge on their hands with my cat, they got the job done. Worst place ever! Emailed owner got no response. My Australian Shepard shakes and tries to climb up me when I walk in the the door and I dismissed it thinking he was just being a baby, but when I picked him an my my other dog , a husky mix, up she was still shedding hair every where and the groomer tried to tell us that they got all the hair off that they could, what a line of crap! She took her back and as I watched through the window handfuls of hair come off, but that really isn't the worst of it, my husky mix now has some kind of oosing wound on her neck that seems to be growing so I'm off to the vets office! Groomingdale's by far the cutest little grooming salon in South City. They not only will make your dog look fabulous, but take "glamour shots" of them afterward in the Pet Photography Room. Don't waste your time or money. I brought my golden here yesterday because it's close to home and out other groomer was booked. I upgraded to oatmeal shampoo ($10 extra) nail grinding instead of clipping ($14 more) and the shedless trearment ($15 extra). My total was $82 and he came home smelling worse and with just as much shedding. I've tried this place a couple of times before for convenience but we will never be back. read more

We used to take our black lab to this groomer. Then once, after a visit we noticed Wallace scratching and yelping to the point we immediately took him to the vet. Seems had a contracted some sort of flesh eating virus that was quite serious. The groomer said the most likely source was from either another dog or from improperly cleaned and sanitized tools being used on him. Wallace had not been around any other dogs so the cause had to be the latter. This resulted in a hefty bill, an uncomfortable dog, and all around anger that we had trusted this place to at the very least follow health regulations. I would NEVER take our dog here again. read more

I normally use another groomer but they were booked that day. I figured the other reviews were exagerrating and decided to be adventurous and give this place a shot. If you want your pet looking a mess when you leave, by all means get them groomed here. Completely uneven cut, patches, and loose hair all around. I doubt my pet was brushed because of all the loose hair on him. I'm not sure this was included in the hefty price (it should be for the cost!), but he definitely wasn't washed/bathed/remotely wiped in any sort of way because he came back to me just as stinky as he went in. Even worse, the cut was nowhere near what I had asked for. For it costing over 50 bucks per pet (I brought multiple ones that day), I expect something more than a really bad cut and a 2 minute nail trim. 2 stars because the people there were at least nice and friendly. Makes me almost feel bad writing this review......but the cut was, for real, awful. read more

I took my Bernedoodle (Bernese Mountain Dog + Standard Poodle) to Groomingdale's today. They called me about 3 hours after I dropped her off telling me that they accidentally cut her neck and asked if I wanted to have them take her to their vet or if I wanted to pick her up and take her to her regular vet. They also told me she was not bleeding and asked if I wanted them to continue grooming her. I told them I was on my way to pick her up. Upon arriving, she had a few pieces of paper towel shoved into her collar and there was blood on the paper towels. I lifted the towels to find a flap of red, bloody skin slightly larger than a half dollar on her chest. The woman behind the desk told me she was very sorry this happened and that I would not have to pay for her grooming today and to drop back by with the vet bill so that they could take care of it. I took my dog to our vet soon thereafter and the vet had me leave her so he could put her under and sew her back up. Also, I noticed while I was at the vet that there was a cut on my dog's ear and started checking her over for more wounds only to find that the person who shaved my dog decided to cut the fur on her neck all the way down to the skin but only did that in a few spots. Lots of sedation and several staples later, she came home with me very tired and incredibly nervous. Our vet said if they had cut a little bit deeper, it could have easily hit her jugular vein and we wouldn't have been so lucky. I hope I have made it apparent that I would NOT recommend this groomer for your animal. I believe that the groomers there are not very well trained. Showing the two cuts (one rather large and potentially fatal had it gone much deeper) and the spotty shaving around my poor dog's neck makes me think that the guy had absolutely no idea what he was doing. While I think that the customer service policy is great and I did not have to argue with anyone over paying the $230 vet bill, customer service will not get your dog a good fur cut. read more

Mikey cuts Lucy, and Annette (I think that's her name, my GF handles the names and phone calls---I just drop and pick up) cuts Chewbacca...they do an incredible job, and we specifically ask for them, every time. Been coming here about 7 years I guess? Of course dogs hate the groomers, and Chuy shakes...but what dog doesn't? Stay away. I took my shih tzu in and it was a bad hair cut and then she got an eye infection. I spent $200 to have her eyes fixed. The vet said there were 2nd degree chemical burns to her eyes from soap in her eyes. Not good. read more

The service was hit and miss until we discovered Mikey. Sometimes grind the nails sometimes not. Mikey listens to our preferences with special shampoo needs. He grooms our Mini Schnauzer right with a cute puppy cut and teddy bear head. Our little dog is eager to go and seems well when she's finished. We've been at least 10 times in the last couple of years. I feel we get fair deal for the price. Good tipping and clear expectations always helps ensure good service. read more

Not happy with my dog's cut at all. Body was unevenly shaved, face was trimmed more then I asked and her fluffy tail was almost shaved bare...which is one thing I did tell them not to do. Luckily my husband picked our dog up or I would have had a fit in the shop. I've crossed them off my list! read more
