    CHICKEN SANDWICH
    Patrise S.

The service was very good. Our server was attentive and worked both as hostess and waitress. The decor is bright and clean. The food was less appetizing. I'd a pizza shop and that's what I should have ordered. Instead I ordered a chicken burger with veggies. Both had no flavor. Surprisingly, even the veggies had no flavor. Needless to say, I was disappointed. The restaurant IS popular so perhaps I'll try the restaurant again and have pizza, perhaps.

I came here pretty hungry close to 10pm on Sunday 9/29 not having eaten since breakfast. I wanted fries and a sandwich of some sort. The chicken salad sandwich sounded promising and I was not disappointed by what I got. The wait was a little long, but i wasn't in a rush. Moreover, It was late and there was only one guy preparing orders for myself and a few other patrons. I go my order to go but the inside had plenty of seating. It'll be a cool place to watch a game. It's a nice sports bar vibe, with a splash of local pizza parlor. The Ravens were playing when I came in and a few fans were at the bar enjoying the game. I'd like to try a pizza pie next time, but the sandwich was a good introduction to what you can get at Grotto's.

After a long day of driving and arriving at our hotel for the night before another long day of driving the next day, it was great to be able to walk into Grotto's to order a pizza for takeout (we have our dog with us. We ate at our hotel). It was an easy and pleasant process with Jeliah. She was very nice and helpful. What really stuck out the most, though, was the kindness of all the staff. I had an unrelated situation that I inquired about with Kassidy. (I inquired about a certain grade of gas I had just seen for the first time at the gas station.) She did not know the answer, but went out of her way to get the person who would know the answers. Then, that person, Matt, took a few moments out of his work to explain to me, answer my questions and put my mind at ease over something I think I had made a mistake with my car. Having that kind of help unrelated to where they work just goes to show how great this place is. Honest and kind staff. Of course, the pizza was really good, too.

I loveeeee grotto pizza! The pizza is SO good. The crust is fine. I love the cheese and the sauce. The sauce is some of the most flavorful around. It is sooo good!!!! I love it!!! The service and ambiance are fine. The gelato counter was not open when we were here. But that's fine because I came for the pizza!!

We are still on our hunt for great Maryland pizza and although this was a great step forward, it's still not quite what our Massachusetts hearts are craving. We started with the cheesy garlic bread and that was pretty disappointing...quite flavorless, would not get again. We also got some boneless wings and I enjoyed those, R thought the flavor was just okay. We got the Mama Grotto pizza and was not what we were expecting, but I was quite happy with the sweet sauce. The crust was thick and crunchy, which I love. We look forward to trying a different pizza next time.

We wanted to grab something quick, and this was it. They have pizza by the slice, which made it convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The slices hit the spot.

I come here when I crave Grotto's pizza. It sure beats driving to Rehoboth/Dewey Beach. Make sure to sign up for their rewards program as they frequently have $5 off large pizza coupons. It's a pretty large restaurant and the food does come out pretty fast. Service has been great the couple of times I've been there. The pizza is spot on and tastes the same as the Rehoboth locations.

    Classic Margherita pizza

We stopped in late Thursday on a whim after a paint night at a local brewery. We were tired and hungry and just wanted something quick and yummy. The place was mostly empty by 8:30pm, so we were seated immediately and our waitress was the nicest! We got a slice of the pepperoni pizza to try, along with the "Classic Margherita" pizza. It wasn't the traditional margherita I was used to, but it was good. The pepperoni was my favorite -- it was covered in a BLANKET of crisp pepperoni and tasted garlic-y. The crust of both pizzas was delicious, not too floppy, not greasy at all, and with a good crisp crunch to it without being too chewy. It reminded me of one of my favorite small-town pizza places from back home, or how Pizza Hut used to feel when we were kids. The restaurant was clean, parking was easy to find, and the restaurant itself is pretty easy to navigate to from the main roads. The next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely go back to try more (including the gelato, which I was really curious about).

They have a great back room with 2 large tables and a TV. It would be great for a little party or football viewing. We got chicken fingers and mac n cheese here. I have had their pizza before at a different location. It is a great lunch spot!

Take out is quite easy with food awaiting at the greeting desk. The crab dip is unique and quite delish. Served with garlic knots, the crab dip is baked together in a cast iron skillet and finished with melted parmesan. I've had several dishes which are delightful. The Cajun Chicken & Shrimp Pasta is a wonderful combo of blackened chicken and shrimp, pasta and Nawlins cream sauce. For more NOLA yummies, the Louisiana Red Jambalaya is sautéed chicken and shrimp with Andouille sausage and jasmine rice. The Shrimp and Grits envelope andouille sausage, smoked bacon, blistered cherry tomatoes, and sherry cream for a comforting Louisiana dish. The Mushroom Rissoto is portobello, shiitake, and cremini mushrooms tossed with truffle oil, topped with crispy fried shallots and grated parmesan. Lastly, I can recommend the Southern Chicken Piccata which is topped with lemon butter, cherry tomatoes, garlic and capers. Roasted potatoes and arugula salad are on the side. For desert, the cookie sundae is nothing more than a big chocolate chip cookie, with vanilla ice cream and a chocolate-caramel sauce. But simple things are the best. Perfect for splitting. Give 'em a try and you'll be back again and again and again!

Brunch at Elliott's Craft Kitchen: A Promising Start With a Few Missed Beats…read more.. I recently visited Elliott's Craft Kitchen a fairly new spot that my group of four decided to try out for brunch. We were hoping for a fresh experience, but our visit turned out to be a mixed bag. Ambiance and First Impressions... When we arrived, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, which was a bit of a head-scratcher for brunch time. Even though we could hear staff chatting in the back, it took a good five to eight minutes before anyone came out to seat us. Once we were seated, we noticed the lighting was so dim that we actually had to whip out our phones just to read the menu. Not exactly the cozy brunch vibe we were hoping for. The Food: Hits and Misses... On to the food. We started with the cream of crab soup, which was just okay--nothing to write home about. The Brussels sprouts were a bit of a letdown. They were tiny and mostly just fried leaves rather than the hearty sprouts we expected. So if you're imagining those classic roasted Brussels sprouts, this wasn't it. The chicken and waffles were decent in flavor, although the presentation could have used some polish. The pita bread for the crab dip could have been toasted or something more firm and doesn't taste like it was immediately pulled from a bag. Surprisingly, the star of the meal ended up being something as simple as the French fries. They were really tasty and stood out more than some of the fancier dishes. Service and the Final Stretch... Our server was kind and polite, which we appreciated. But the big hiccup came at the end. Their payment system went down, and we ended up waiting over 30 minutes just to settle the bill. After sitting for about 15 minutes we informed our server that we would like to wait in the lounge area to get more comfortable as I understand.... things happen. Although while we waited for about 20 minutes there were no offers of water or anything to make the wait less awkward (not to mention asking for payment without even presenting a bill). It felt like they were more focused on turning the table than making sure we were okay during the delay. Although maybe it was an awkward start to the morning. I will say our server did her best to work things out with the technology she was given. So, I still provided her a fair tip, not her fault. Value for Money... In terms of pricing, it felt pretty average overall, but there were a few eyebrow-raisers. For instance, the avocado toasted croissant--topped with over-easy eggs, baby spinach, and Grana Padano--was $19, which felt a bit steep for what it was. In comparison, a pork schnitzel dish was around $21. So, while the pricing wasn't outrageous, some items definitely made me pause and question the value. Overall Thoughts... In the end, my experience at Elliott's Craft Kitchen was a bit of a letdown. So I'm surprised by some of the reviews (maybe because it was not dinner). While there were a few highlights (like the fries and a well-made Old Fashioned), the service hiccups and the underwhelming dishes mean I'd probably think twice before going back. Definitely not for brunch but I would really consider Dinner after some more reviews. Hopefully they'll iron out the kinks as they get more established.
