I grabbed a burger and fries before my flight at Grounded in St. Louis. It's basically like a Wendy's with curly fries and tots. The burgers are made to order so I had to wait for a few minutes. They have a small seating area to the right of the register, I got my burger and curly fries in about 10 minutes. Fries were okay. The burger was a triple, and it tasted like a really fresh Wendy's burger. And it's basically the same price as Wendy's these days so this was pretty cheap at $15 an airport.

Person in the back, but they're "closed."

Closed at 6 pm on a Thursday?!! Yet, someone was there to say they're closed?!!! Don't waste your time.

The customer service was friendly, the food took a few minutes to prepare because it was fresh. Burger was good, nice and hot. Fries were crispy. I would eat here again. There is a small seating area next to the restaurant so you don't have to eat in a regular seat!

For some background information, I work as flight crew so I go to a fair share of airport restaurants. I found myself with a layover in STL so I decided to give this burger place a shot. Overall the food was good, the customer service was weird and lacking. I walked up and there was no one behind the counter for a minute or so, but also no line so I get it. Then a lady came through a door from the kitchen and stood at the cash register. Now I'm gen Z, and I've heard about the gen z stare, but I brushed it off at people misinterpreting. However, this girl said absolutely nothing and stared at me. I stared back and considered just waiting to see who would break first. But then I decided against that and went the route of "maybe I can get her to warm up to me by being nice!" So I said "hello how are you doing today?" She replied "good" and then continued to stare. I gave up and then just started my order. Felt rude but at least I tried. I asked if I could get tater tots instead of fries, and she silently pressed buttons on the register so I assumed that meant yes. I ordered a specialty burger and my tots and a drink and it came up to about $25. Expensive, but not unheard of I suppose. I was silently given my drink and receipt and then waited about 7 minutes and then I was silently handed my food. I sat down and looked at my receipt and saw that instead of substituting total for fries, they just said "no fries" and then charged me for a side of tots. Would've kinda been nice to know they would do that. I went up and inquired about the charge and then she said "we can't substitute" so then I asked "ok so did I pay for fries and then not receive them?" And then she said "no the fries come free with the burger" so then I asked "oh can I get the free fries?" And she said "sure" so I mean now I have an extra container of fries. The burger was yummy and the sides of tots and friend were generous! Just maybe don't expect more customer service from the workers than you would get from a McDonald's self-order kiosk. Well actually, at least those say thank you...

Writing this as I wait for my burger. 12pm on a Wednesday. Looks like about 5 people besides me waiting for their orders. I walked up to the register to order, and the employee was just standing back by the kitchen. She saw me but didnt make any effort to take my order. I waited for a bit, and then asked if there was some kind of app I needed to use, to put my order in? She looked disgruntled, came up to the register, and said, "What do you want??" in a voice that sounded more like, "Why are you bothering me??" I ordered the triple burger, she checked me out and gave my my receipt. No effort towards any kind of fast and/or friendly experience here. Burger took about 15 minutes to arrive at the counter. It was pretty good, a classic American diner-type burger with lettuce, tomato, American cheese, onion, pickle, and special sauce. Not really smashburgers, just thin patties stacked on top of each other. It came with curly fries, which were fine, nothing out of the ordinary. I'd say the food balanced out the lackluster service and tedious wait time to about 3 stars.

    Rude, unhelpful and uncaring.

Read the reviews before ordering AND SIMPLY DO NOT!!!! worst airport business ever. Contract should be canceled. Took 30 minutes for 2 burgers with 3 people in front. Had to beg for anyone to even get noticed. Meanwhile everyone is joking and ignoring customers. Do yourself a favor and AVOID!

Burger was fine. But boy, it looked nothing like the glorious display of fresh toppings and veggies that was shown on their display board. "Crafted custom hamburgers" seems a bit deceptive. These are just hamburgers. Menu showed a huge pile of avacdo. Actual burger had a thin spread on the bun. I always use Yelp... not sure why I didn't this time.

Every time I see this place, I think COFFEE... And then I'm disappointed. But, you're waiting for a flight, you have very little time, you're hungry, whad'ya gonna do? I had the Black 'n Blue Chicken Stack. It was okay, but definitely not as tasty as my brain was ready for after reading the description. And of course, it was expensive, so... Eh.

Well as it turns out this was the best choice that we made at St. Louis airport. The people are friendly, the burgers were great, fries were good, the place was clean and it was fast. I'm really happy that we escaped the other two restaurants. When the Budweiser was flat so we didn't even order food and the other one was we could not even get out of the line from the hostess to get seated, it's run very poorly. If I have to return to this Airport I WOULD return.

The storefront: the direct out front, small parking lot was packed and people were going into the gated lot to find parking. Only one person working the counter when you first walk in which lead to a long line at the dinner rush that seemed to be moving pretty slow. We got in before the rush and got our food quickly after. Staff were kind and very helpful! Fairly clean with the food runners circling tables often to remove trash.

She also didn't know how to make a drink, with that being the case why are you allowed to make any cocktails. A guy from my running group asked me which way it was, and I was like, "Uh, I think it's that way." A few places on this strip all have similar awnings. I thought I was lucky finding such a good spot. By the time I was done with my run, maybe an hour later, all of Clayton was an absolute ghost town. It makes me wonder what they'd have to put here to get people to visit Clayton during the evening, a 7 Brew? Inside is more along the lines of a bar, with a number of beers on tap and decor that may have been purchased from a Kohl's. I appreciated the way they had the beers on tap written on the wall in ginormous fonts, and I'm sure the elderly are similarly appreciative. Sometimes you ask these waiters what beers they have on tap and they act like they're doing you a favor by listing them. I asked this hillbilly they've got waiting tables at the Syberg's over on Dorsett what beers they have on tap, and he just said they have 30 of them. Uh, thanks? I wonder if he counted them. I went with the 4 Hands Incarnation, which I have at least once a week, because I get it for free. It seemed less "high gravity" than it does when you get it in the tall cans.Hmm... Usually, my move at these burger places is to order a bacon cheeseburger or a specialty burger that has bacon on it. 5 Star had such a burger listed first on their menu, making my choice easy enough. I toyed with the idea of ordering the Green Chile Cheeseburger, but not seriously. I wasn't sure what the green chiles would taste like, and what if they turned out to be gross? The Blue Ribbon Burger comes with bacon, port-braised onions and Gorgonzola cheese, along with LTOP. No, that's not a typo. You get thinly sliced red onions in addition to the port-braised onions. It feels weirdly generous of them, even though they're just onions, and all the fresh toppings are of a seemingly high quality. I was more ambivalent about the toppings specific to the Blue Ribbon Burger. I didn't dislike them, but I was less impressed by them than I would have expected. The bacon was good, but it was in crumbles and I think I would have liked it more if it were in thick, crispy strips. No Diddy. The cheese was either not flavorful enough or in not abundant enough quantity to be much of a factor. The onions, on the other hand, provided a nice flavor kick--less tart than I expected, more along the lines of the onions in a french onion soup. The fries were kinda whatever. They were good, being french fries and all, but not as gourmet as the menu would have you think. And they don't give you very many of them, if you get the regular serving. Weirdly, the regular serving doesn't cost much money, by Brandon-era standards, but the serving-size is decidedly skimpy. Why not just charge a normal amount and give you a normal quantity? Even the large won't exactly break the bank. I went with the small because I just wanted to see what they were like, for the sake of citizen food journalism. You're welcome.
