Live in the area so we try to support local. Not sure we'll be back here again. Writing this a "3" instead of a "1" because this complaint isn't fully the owners fault. We were in yesterday (Sat around 8:15 AM). The girl working the order register was a snot from the get go. I find it hard to believe that other customers didnt have complaints about her either. We attempted to order food which she rang up nit than said we don't have biscuits and gravy so you can't have that or the savory crepe with gravy. Ok but you rang it up, didn't ask anyone so how's then did you know you didnt have two of the six things you have on the menu? We then ordered house coffee which she then began writing our name on plastic drink cups. When we told her, those are regular coffees right? She said no your ordered iced. My girlfriend said NO, I ordered coffee and I said, "I'll have a coffee too". I never said iced ether and she threw a fit. We said you know what, make it 2 Togo coffees. She gave my girlfriend that leaked the entire time and the bottom of the cup was saturated like it was going to fall apart anytime. She has no business being in a customer service role. Not sure what her issue was. Was it we weren't regulars? Because if so, as a small business-good luck growing your business catering only to your 20-30 regulars. I will say, it was a solid cup of coffee though. read more

Lovely coffeeshop with a ton of seating and expansive menu, offering both coffees and food items! Crepes looked delicious and so did all of their pastries. Love that they loaded me up with three tea bags, I was able to have a couple of cups while visiting with a friend. read more

I decided to drive to Gardner and try out this coffee shop. I love the building and the soothing, relaxing vibe the place has and the historic building decor with lots of seating, including outdoors. The service was fine and we were able to order immediately and our order came out quickly. My husband's oat milk hot white mocha was good and he said his coffee cake was excellent. I ordered the oat milk iced sugar free vanilla latte and a gluten free chocolate iced bread. The latte was not as good because the syrup was too saccharin tasting unfortunately. The bread was not very flavorful and a bit dry. I love the fact that in lieu of tips for servers they take a cash donation for helping the homeless. We would definitely go back if in the area. read more

I've driven past here and finally decided to try. They offer a variety of crepes varying from sweet to savory. I tried the Gardner crepe which had pesto, pine nuts, and some other veggies insides, I thought it as pretty good but I wouldn't get it again when I'm in a breakfast mood. Also got the bacon egg cheddar burrito and I believe the potatoes are supposed to be inside but we ordered them on the side. It was really good and savory. The s'mores latte was pretty good, no need to add anything extra. I had the iced Irishman which was really good, got it with no whip and the did make it with it but were super kind and remade a new one! I thought the period elements on the table markers were cute, they also had facts about it on the back. There was couch, hightop, and regulars table seating as well as two tables outside. Parking can be a bit sparse but there's plenty of room inside. I would come back but a big turnoff was the price. For 2 people, it was at $40 with no additives ordered which seems much for me. read more

There has been a big decline in this coffee shop since the start of the 2026 year. The staff is still phenomenal and friendly, coffee is good. The food options are largely limited and now there is only one gluten free option (at best) which is very disappointing. The cups for the water dispenser are dirty- I looked through 3 of them. There have been numerous price increases- $7.61 for a basic 14oz latte is insane. read more

My Friday breakfast buddy and I found Groundhouse for the first time yesterday! Wow - what a gem! It's not often we travel far aways OUT of the city to go have breakfast or coffee, but the location in Gardner was near an appointment I had later in the morning, so we decided to verify that the wonderful reviews were all legit! Spoiler: they are! This place is awesome, at least as of my first experience! The coffee was delicious, the spot was historic, comfy and warm, and the food and beverage options were beyond-abundant! We showed up at about 7:30 on a Friday morning, and to no one's surprise, we did catch a bit of a rush at that time. This leads to the reason for my one-star hit for this review, and it's that it's on a "busy" (quotations, because it's a far suburb of the city, and I'm sure that busy here is not busy many other places), and it left us with minimal parking options. But, that's the price you pay to check out a lovely, historic, prime-located restaurant. But, after being patient and diligent (and vigilant!) for a couple passes around the block, I lucked into someone pulling out of a spot just a couple cars down from the front door. I enjoyed a "Tallest" cup of their brewed coffee on this visit, and the quality was outstanding! My friend had a mixed latte and some food, and gave both a solid grade as well! The lovely person who helped me was prompt, patient and pleasant! We enjoyed the well-broken-in chairs at the front of the restaurant in the window, and were comfy for the duration of our stay! This just became my go-to coffee joint on the far southwest end of KC! read more

The muffin was lightly crunchy on top and dense in the middle. The blueberries were sweet and extremely fresh inside of the muffin. Groundhouse is popular because of the crepes that are stacked high with goodies. The cinnamon rolls here are baked fresh daily and so good . The shop itself has a relaxing vibe and friendly customer service. Since there are not many other local coffee spots to hang out , it does get a tiny bit competitive for a table , but nothing crazy . I tried the Irishman and my friend got a zebra . We both liked our drinks . I got mine with half the amount of pumps Of sweetener and it was still pretty sweet. There was an odd moment of when I opened the cup at the end of my drink there were these chunky bits floating around . I didn't think much of it because I knew the milk and everything was fine since the coffee tasted good. I just found it a bit strange and wondered what they were . Maybe clumps of powder from the Irish cream mix not mixed fully ? I won't lose any sleep Over it haha , and would give this place another shot if I was staying in Kansas longer . read more

What a nice surprise in downtown Gardner! Groundhouse Coffee has comfortable seating inside and out with a very relaxing ambience. My coffee was very good and, although I didn't try any, the baked goods looked fabulous. This is a semi-regular stop for one of my bicycling groups, so I'll be back. read more

You got to stop by this beautiful historic building, that has a amazing coffee house located there. Originally was a general store. The signature drinks are out of this world! The Euphoria has white chocolate, blackberry, espresso, milk, and whipped cream. That is my favorite drink, along with the Chai tea. You can get bit hot or cold. There are two locations, both are great! Again the service here is really good. The cash tips go to support Safe House. So come get a great drink and support a important cause. read more

Ground house is our local coffee shop here in Gardner that has 2 convenient locations one including a drive through. They have an amazing regular menu but then add fun seasonal drinks. They offer some savory food items but the best is their baked goods counter. Now they have crepes and we love to stop by on Saturday for a yummy treat. I don't like coffee. I mean, for real, I do NOT like coffee. I'm one of those people that doesn't understand how something that smells so good can taste so awful. I have stayed true to this... tasting items that people I trusted said didn't taste like coffee. They were wrong. It always tasted like coffee... YUCK! And then, my daughter (who I love very much), asked me to try her coffee drink. In my sixty-some-odd-years, I had never had coffee that tasted like it smelled! But I love my daughter, so I'd go through that awful taste (wrinkle nose) for her (what we won't do for kids!). I took a sip from her cup and... IT TASTED GOOD! IT TASTED LIKE COFFEE SMELLS BREWING! I ACTUALLY LIKED IT!!!! I liked it so much that I got a medium sized cup of it the next time I was in Gardner. I believe it was called Kissing Cow and I can honestly say it was grrrrreat! No bitter aftertaste. Just fabulous coffee! I also had a BIG oatmeal butterscotch cookie (my fav) that was quite tasty. Try out this place. They have wonderful coffee!!! And treats! read more

I spent $8 dollars on a carmel macchiato. I thanked the two young women behind the counter buy saying, "Thank you for your hard work Sisters!". The young woman who was actually helping me responded nicely. The young woman who was not helping decided to shove her psycho beliefs down my throat by scolding me yelling, "I'm not a 'she'!". I am a 33 year, retired, Army Veteran with 5 combat deployments. I am grounded firmly in reality. I came for coffee, not all that political, psycho babble. There is a female employee there, with a shaved head, that chose to insult a Veteran making me unwelcome in that establishment. I don't do drama. My iced caramel machiatto was too milky today, but I still like the place. Something I didn't mention before was that they have bakery selections and a book selling table! Another update: wanting to try something new, my little sister and I got a blueberry pomegranate smoothie and a iced chai tea latte, respectively. The smoothie was amazing. It did not settle into two layers, it was good consistency, and it was not at all sour. The iced chai tea was creamy and has a spicy kick. The coffee is good but I Was put off was put off by the fact that they offered free coffee or discounts to people if they were showing their Covid vaccination cards. It would be different if they asked for other forms of vaccination cards such as flu or chickenpox or HPV etc. I do respect them for taking a political stance, even if one I don't agree with. However, I rarely support them and go to Scooter's down the street. Also, only one of their locations has a drive thru and the parking at both is terrible. read more

I can't believe I didn't know about Groundhouse sooner, because I tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I've been back 3 times since. I really like this place! First of all, the people (yes, the people before the coffee, believe it or not). They're great. Helpful, pleasant, funny, and skilled at their barista craft. Secondly, yes, of course, the coffee is very good. But what I really like the most is the selection, the variety of drinks and styles. I love the kick in the face, and that they can make it iced. It's a great drink, great coffee flavor, and I like it with milk (they add the milk or cream for you) and add some sugar of my own. The plain old iced coffee is as good as or better than any of my local KC favorites (like Thou Mayest, for example, which is saying a lot). They also have a lot of frozen drink varieties, and those drinks can be a little on the sweet side depending on who makes them, but I usually do like them, and they are not nearly as sweet as most of the other KC coffee shops. So definitely a great option when I am in the mood for blended. And at least they HAVE blended, lots of coffee shops find that beneath them. The ambiance is nice, it's spacious, and has good lighting and comfortable chairs. It's very well priced, too. AND convenient for me in particular, as I am on Gardner Road all the time. Easy parking and a drive up, too! How can you not like this place? read more

As you walk in, you're greeted by such a warm and friendly staff. They're excited to tell you about what they offer and the seasonal specials. I tried pumpkin spice chai latte and their cheddar bacon scone. It was a per Fall pairing. I was also told that if I liked their pastries, then I should also checkout their main shop, just down the street, where they make everything, from scratch! Yum! The interior decor is a mix between rustic and functional. They married the old, with the new, really well. So happy my friend and I discovered this place, after a Gardner craft show! I had a great 1st experience here today! The customer service was awesome. The two girls that were working were super sweet. There was a really large group there when I first got there so it was kind of loud, but I stayed for a while to read and at started to get quieter as they all phased out. But I love that they have so much space in this building to offer large groups like that to hang out in a really open space. They have really great lighting up front so I planted myself in one of their super comfortable chairs. Prior to visiting I checked out their menu which is really full of all different types of coffee and non coffee drinks. All different types of a flavor combinations and different types of teas. I stopped in today to try their lattes and black coffee. The latte was decent. I'm glad I asked for an extra shot of espresso, and I should have asked for 2 extra shots because their lattes are sweeter and more milky than a lot of places. Personally I prefer a bolder espresso. The black coffee is good. It is typical of what you would find at most coffee shops in the area. I still don't think I've found KCs best black brew. What makes this spot exciting is the atmosphere. They have done a great job with the decor and created a nice place to hang out. If I have any meetings in the Gardener area, I will be stopping in here. read more

Yep, still fantastic! It's our go to place for creeps on the weekends. Other than going to Lawrence or Topeka it's the only place we have found that's got the creeps and coffee that fit our needs.
