The inside of this place is cute and feels like Brooklyn/NYC with the vibrant decoration on the walls. It is also pretty spacious inside with the high ceilings. You can pre order online which is a nice convenience, not that there was a wait when I went. I got an iced mocha latte and it was pretty good. There are a lot of customization options for the coffees with different milk options, flavors. I also got the glazed, coffee cake and strawberry donuts. The donuts are ok, nothing special and still remind me of Dunkin' Donuts. They are large and come in a variety of interesting and rotating flavors. Perhaps I should have chosen some other flavors or gone earlier when they are fresher (I came around 11am). I've also been spoiled as our go-to for specialty donuts is Rise Doughnuts in Wilton and they are hard to beat. I'd come back here for the coffee and not so much the donuts. read more

Grounds Donut House is the sweet shoppe that the Danbury area never had but always needed. The ambiance is inviting and attractive, with spacious tables and and an impressively large bar area, allowing ample space to indulge. The carrot cake special was by far our family favorite this Easter weekend. By 7:00 on a weekend morning, there were already an array of to go orders prepared on the bar area, and several flavors almost sold out! My favorite is the fruity pebble. Nice crunch and just so colorful :) I had to go back inside and get a 2nd one just so I can share w. coworkers tomorrow. The other donuts are amazing too. Nice and fluffy. Gigantic. 2-4 ppl can share 1 donut, but we didn't do that. The two of us demolished these donuts and are now on a crazy sugar high. Coffee isn't bad too. I'll start with I emailed Grounds Donut House after 9pm at night to find out if they had an approximate time for when they sell out. I got a reply back that night! So I could plan with my Dad and Brother what time to meet there. Nothing drives me more crazy then when a business does not reply to email, FB posts that have questions, or PM's. They have good Covid protocols. You walk around the counter one way to order, and the opposite way to leave. They have plexi glass in front of the donuts, register, and where you pick up your coffee. Multiple spots where they provide hand sanitizer. Now lets get to these donuts - big, yummy toppings, fresh and so flavorful. Im sensitive to when something is too sweet. Given the size and toppings these were not too sweet. My Dad ordered the Cookies and Cream and my brother and I the pumpkin. Also they had multiple varieties of coffee. I did an on line order as two days before this donut shop was out of most everything by 11am. When we stopped in for a cool refreshment & donuts. Lots of high top tables & an island that is also high too make it difficult to anyone with a handicap to sit. The on line ordering was a cinch a day before pick up; to ensure we had some of the specialty donuts that are ending on the 23rd. Our order was ready on time & beautifully presented in their cheerful pink box. Upon opening the box, the donuts are a good size & look delish. The blueberry pop tart was so good. The overstuffed filled blueberry was perfect, not too sweet and oh so fresh. My daughter who is gluten free actually stated "I'm jealous ", as this shop does not have GF options; a bit disappointing since gf donuts are in most grocery stores in the freezer section... The Boston Creme, my favorite although beautiful as a donut can be, was also disappointing with the lack of creme filling in it. The Nutella filled donut was to die for. If you're a Nutella fan, this is for you. It was definitely my favorite by far. The Nutella just oozed out when cut in half! The lack of gluten free donut option, high too sitting arrangements & not so filled Boston Cream donut gives this little spot a four star rating. I've never seen or been inside of Grounds Donut House BUT we have a vendor rep who brings donuts from this place every once and a while when he comes to meet with us because he lives in Danbury. I honestly try a new donut everytime that he brings them in. What's my favorite? I honestly couldn't tell you. I think All of them are so damn good and LARGE. It's like having an entire breakfast with one donut. I recently ate the Fruity Pebbles topped one and it was Pebblicious! Just looking at my photos make me drool. No joke. I might drive 30 minutes to wait outside until they open (its 10PM right now). Coming from Los Angeles, I've had my fair share of rave-worthy donuts. (Randy's is my all-time favorite!) I was excited to give this place a shot and they did not disappoint. Honestly, Grounds has saved Danbury from mediocre Dunkin'/ grocery store donuts. They have a trendy interior, fast service, and a variety of creative flavors. I love the rotating flavors that make each week unique. The portion size measures up to the price you pay. For 3 or 4 bucks, you're getting an impressively large donut that is sure to satisfy. But let's touch on the most important aspect, taste. Donuts were fresh and tasty but not mind-blowing (when it makes you close your eyes and say "Mmmm~"). The presentation definitely overcompensates as the donuts are not oober flavor-packed. The base dough is pretty standard and does not have a unique texture. Neither chewy nor super fluffy which is something I like to see. Maybe my donut standards are too high, but overall I enjoyed the experience and will return for more! read more

I always judge a donut shop by its original glazed. Grounds Donut House has a solid good glazed donut. The size is definitely big enough to share with another person. For $3.50 a donut, it isn't cheap, but it's comparable to the specialty donut shops in the area. The Nutella donut (limited edition) was tasty, but was not stuffed with Nutella. It tasted like chocolate buttercream. It was good, but again, not Nutella like we were looking forward to. We also ordered the churro donut, which was a cinnamon sugar donut sprinkled with a chocolate glaze. It was tasty. Honestly, the donut holes were the best out of all the specialty donuts we tried. For $4.25 for about 15, it's a steal. Would definitely recommend skipping right to the donut holes. You will not be disappointed. read more

Let's start at the "GROUND" floor with this review... One normal day with a screaming toddler sitting in the backseat we passed a store front with the name "Ground Donuts". I only saw the name donuts to be honest with you. So I did what I do best and quick drawed my Google machine and Google searched to find its a heavenly place of fancy donuts. Got home safe, smothered the toddler until she fell asleep for her nap. Then discussed with the spouse the importance of us getting back there. Fast forward a few weeks, we placed a pick up order on the website for a specific time and asked for it to be a curbside pickup. Pulled into the parking lot to a full house. Received our order with a somewhat calmer screaming toddler this time. Made it home and took that first bite of glazed... I wasn't thrilled. With disappointment forming over my head, I went with my go to donut flavor, the strawberry frosted sprinkle. "THANK YOU Jesus"!!! This was amazing, the size of the donut, the fluffiness, the strawberry was a little overwhelmingly sweet but you must expect that with a donut. Main point: this place is full house for a reason. I drove 20 minutes out of my way for this donut shop. I've tried their Boston creme before and this visit I ordered a blueberry donut with a crumble topping (don't remember the name). These donuts are so good. They are soft, pillowy, fluffy donuts. 100% totally worth the trip. They're just that good. Also bought their bottled Cinnamon Toast Latte (oat milk latte) that comes in a jar to take home with me and I wish I would've bought more. Will come back here! I have to agree with NR's review on this place. Donuts rate a solid 4 out of 10. Mediocre at best. Two of my 6 donuts were straight up stale. For 4 to 5 bucks each, that's a fail. The rest tasted like they use the same batter recipe as Dunkin. The Boston Creme was almost identical to Dunkin (and no, I don't like Dunkin Donuts). I've had lots of different kinds of donuts from all over the planet, i even like/don't mind an occasional Krispy Kreme. My box of Donuts from Grounds was about $30. I kept wanting to try this place. I finally tried a Churros Donut. It was delightful. They ran out of the jelly donuts, so the next day I picked it up for my Husband. He loved that it had a nice amount of jelly and the texture and flavor of the donut. He always complain when he would try donuts in other places that they were cheap with the Jelly and the donuts were to small. This donut he loved and he is a tough customer. The next day I brought 8 donuts to bring to my grandchildren. They all enjoyed their donuts. I like donuts. Not necessarily to a Homer-esque degree, but I have been known to utter an incoherent drooling noise when offered one. These donuts may tip me over to a point where I shave my head, dye my skin yellow, and abuse the next Bart I come across. The eggnog donut is sublime and light, the jelly donut is a wonderful combination of fat, sugar and sticky. Proving that I'm not fully transformed into a cartoon yet, I ran out of space before I got to try the chocolate Orange donut, but it's calling to me, with its orange zest and Milano cookie toppings. These are truly masterworks of donuts. They're beautiful, and I wish I were enough of a foodie that I'd remembered to take a picture before shoving them in my mouth. The best part is that it has great ambiance... cool music of our generation.. a bit loud but makes you want to dance! They have a bar, hoaxer the owner says it's not opened yet.
