Best cinnamon buns! Whether you like them with or without icing they are amazing. The key is that they are not overly sweet. Will they leave a mess if you eat them with your hands? Well yes. But it is worth it. Their staff is always friendly, the shop always smells like cinnamon, and the atmosphere is warm and comforting. It s a great place. There s a great environment, I saw some clients reading and writing and it made the environment fantastic. Also I saw people with computers or simply people talking. The WiFi works perfectly, really one of the cafes where I have been and it was working better, without cuts and very fast. The cinnamon buns are very good. And I remember a great detail, they gave my coffee in a big transparent glass, it was fantastic because you can see the color of the coffee. In my opinion the only problem is the price, about 8$ for a medium coffee and a cinnamon bun. Really if the price was lower, Grounds For Coffee would be the perfect place!! Small little coffee shop at the end of the hustle and bustle of Broadway with the softest cinnamon buns I've ever had in my life. These cinnamon buns are famous. If you've been in the city and you haven't tried one yet, it's a must. Ok, the cinnamon buns are amazing, but the staff are useless. Don't try to get a key for the bathroom as everyone is too busy to even hand it to you. The cashier didn't know how to work the credit card machine and messed up the only other request which was to have them there. Nope, they came in boxes which made it really hard to eat there as the sticky cinnamon goo ended up all over your wrists. Please try harder next time. read more

These are hands down my favourite cinnamon buns. I like them so much that I emailed them to request a list of all the places that sell their goods (see the extent I go to for food?)- you never know when the craving hits (I've driven from Richmond to pick these up fresh). The buns are a bundle of buttery cinnamon goodness covered in a blanket of cream cheese icing. The bottom often has caramelized sugar...mmm...I better stop writing this review before I need to go get one asap. By the way, most Blenz coffee shops sell their buns but its not the same, if you're in the area its worth trying one fresh. read more

Yes, the infamous pumpkin spice everything is back and it's everywhere! My boyfriend and I came across the Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Buns from Grounds for Coffee on Narcity. We made it a mission to venture out to Grounds for the acclaimed "best cinnamon buns". We ordered one single Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Bun to share. Oh my gosh, it was superb! It was deliciously gooey, fluffy, perfectly sweet and basically happiness in one bite. My boyfriend and I didn't taste any "pumpkin" at all so we had to ask the chef to confirm. Yup, no pumpkin just pumpkin spices. I guess I somehow expected it to have pumpkin. Nonetheless, it was real nice and we walked away with half a dozen. Grounds for Coffee is both a hit and a miss. Cinnamon buns are quite amazing (though they are available at other places around the city as they do a bit of wholesale to other coffeeshops, for example at Kits Coffee on Yew and 4th), but the main drawbacks are the limited quality seating area (4 nice chairs near the window) and really, not very good coffee at all. This place also closes super early (I think it is 5pm) which means an evening lounging is not an option. read more

I have always realllly enjoyed the exceptional cinnamon buns made here - been a customer for years in fact. But, when I went this week to purchase a delicious treat, I was amazed to be told that they weren't accepting cash anymore!!!! What!!! The nice young girl explained that this was now their policy. I pointed out that at a surcharge of $1.25 per purchase on my bank card, I wouldn't be likely to come back. She was surprised that my bank charged that, but I know I can't be the only person who gets charged per purchase. Had a similar thing happen at Lee's Donoughts at Granville Island! The regular cinnamon bun is still so good - even with 10 minutes to close, they are still warm, ooey and gooey as promised. The food and coffee are delicious but the customer service does not cut it for me. It got little kinder and nicer since Good Earth opened their coffee shop just next door but Hellos, Thank Yous, Let me help you with that or Good byes are scarce. Today I came there to get my coffee, muffin and do my job interview at 12:30. After having troubles plugging in my laptop into new outlet, I notified young lady by the till. She did not offer any help and waited for me to figure it out myself while waiting to take my order. I let her know that unfortunately I wouldn't be able to order as my laptop is out of juice and I needed it to work for my interview. Still no help offered. She said ok, thank you and I left. I used to come to this store often but then stopped because the way I feel somewhere is to me as important as great coffee or food. And Breka, Blenz, Nourish, W and Good Earth all have great food and great coffee + great customer service. So I will not be coming back as there are so many options close by that try harder. read more

My boyfriend and I have tried a dozen cinnamon buns from around the city, mostly from the VanCityBuzz list, and they were all sub-par (my standard being what mum used to make). However, today we ordered a whole bunch for his birthday to share at work from Grounds for Coffee, and they were by far the best we've ever had! Soft moist dough and totally sticky everywhere, with a generous whopping of the perfect cream cheese topping. Their customer service was also great. Will go out of our way next time we have a hankering to get some of these! read more

Went here on my birthday, Saturday morning, August 22nd for the first time with my family. We were not deterred by the sidewalk construction taking place out front. I was on a cinnamon bun mission. ;) Upon entering, I immediately loved the atmosphere: a rustic-like, warm and inviting cafe. The cinnamon buns, in my view, were excellent. The dough itself was tender and the bun was not overly sugary-sweet, which is the way I like it. We had the buns with the cream cheese icing. Very good choice.
