I previously wrote about the cinnamon buns, which I stand by, but I've also had other baked goods and drinks from here and everything I've tried has been fantastic. There are some really good vegan treats - I especially was a fan of the vegan cheese bun, which struck me as a unique (and brave) offering for a non-specialized vegan bakery. Totally scratched an itch I didn't know I had to eat something with gooey melty "cheese" without actually involving any cheese, and the bread bun itself was amazing. Love the cozy vibe of the cafe, but it's small and it's sometimes hard to find a spot unless you're there early.

Tried the seasonal pumpkin cinnamon roll today! I must say this is a favourite. Although you can taste the pumpkin a bit, it's not screaming pumpkin. Nonetheless, It's perfectly autumnal. I prefer this to their regular cinnamon rolls, which I find to be too sweet sometimes. I also recommend the pumpkin spice latte. I'm not a big fan of coffee but I really enjoyed Grounds'. It's a cosy little coffee shop. There's not a lot of seats inside so you expect to not find a table for yourself most of the time (although I've been lucky to have been able to sit down every time I've tried to). It can be a little loud when the door's open because it's right behind a very busy bus stop. The staff is very nice and they give chocolate out to new customers. PRO TIP: FREE cinnamon roll on your birthday, redeemable through the app!!!

One of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had!

I came here for the birthday freebie on my 19th and it was one of the highlights of my day. Upon installation of their mobile app and creation of an account, users can redeem a free cinnamon bun, and I just knew I had to get one. The shop is super cozy with quite a few tables available. I joined the people there who were studying with my earl grey, free cinnamon bun, and homework, and it was one of my favourite cafe-studying experiences. 100% recommend visiting on your birthday for the freebie and staying for a while to enjoy the shop in its whole!

A nice little spot, I really liked the open view into the back area where you could see the kitchen. Got a PSL and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was delicious- perfect amount of cream cheese to bread ratio and the cinnamon glaze inside was really nice. Drink wasn't notable, tasted fine but a little miffed over a $2 up charge for a seasonal drink but that's Vancouver (like $7 for a medium). Overall a bit expensive and little to no chance of sitting due to tiny inside (granted this is a holiday so unsure of how it is on a regular day). Also no straws, be warned. Other than that, tasty!

These cinnamon buns are a no regrets move!! A little on the pricier side, but worth it for the freshness and quality. They recommend eating them within a few days, and ours stayed pretty fresh. Just don't pop them in the fridge when you take them home. The staff are super kind and accommodating and I love supporting these types of small businesses!

Forget about cereal and milk, the perfect duo of cinnamon buns and coffee is a better start to your day. And you can get these well made sweet treats at Grounds for Coffee. Ginormous but not heavy, the bread dough was airy and flavourful with a pleasant scent. A generous dose of cinnamon in each layer of bread awaken all your senses with each bite. The intimidating icing and chocolate sauce, if you dare, are perfect dippings for this bread but we did not find them too sweet. It was just right, especially with coffee or tea. Baked to caramely goodness, these sticky buns deserves your attention.

I will be honest that my main reason for visiting was my brother in law told me they have amazing cinnamon buns so my usual coffee review focus does not apply. This unsuspecting location on Alma I've passed many times and did not notice, some of the windows are covered in posters/signs so it's easy to miss. There is no parking in front but on 10th there seems to be plenty. When I drove by I could see a line up, was a little concerned it would be a long wait, it wasn't. When you enter you can see it really is a bakery, open kitchen format with 2-3 bakers present. Very cool to see the cinnamon buns under construction, periodically a fresh batch coming out. These babies are HUGE, and yes they are really good. I like icing and there was a lot but also for those that don't, you can order without. For orders of 1pc they have cute little boxes, nice touch. The cost is commensurate with the size offered. When I took my order they were still warm, amazing. In addition to cinnamon buns they have a substantial variety of muffins and other baked goods, some gluten-free. All offerings were big, fresh and really good-looking. I did not order coffee but could see that also moved at a good rate. There is some indoor seating, the decor is older and homey. Yes, it's true the cinnamon buns are pretty darn good and well worth the drive.

Love it! Any excuse to have a cinnamon bun, eh?!!!!

There's a lot of hype around the cinnamon buns here, but for good reason! Gooey, sticky, generous with the cinnamon and generous with the cream cheese frosting (which is the best part). They also do great coffee, and have various other baked goods available in their cabinet, including breakfast items. Multiple locations in Vancouver and there's normally a nice atmosphere.

    Ooohie gooie yummy!!!

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.
