Check engine light came on and they gladly took it in to their shop and replaced the mass air flow sensor, only to have the light come on again before I left. Their lead mechanic let me go with him to drive it with their computer hooked up to the truck and was very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. At that point, he recommended a new fuel pump, which they ordered that day. They installed the new fuel Pump and also found one of the spark plug wires was bad and grounding out as well. They replaced ALL of my plug wires as a courtesy! Not gonna lie, I was Leary about purchasing a vehicle here at first, but we are thoroughly pleased with the OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE from their service center!!! RUN don't walk from this dealership! UPDATE 2018 - 153 days since purchase and NADA: No communication from dealership (even tho we KNOW they were quick to cash check from our our credit union). NO communication from them -- actually that's not entirely correct, they did call after seeing the rating we gave them to see "what they could do to get us to amend our rating." 1 day remaining on our temporary license. Spoke with OR and WA DMV -- they've rec'd NO paperwork from our dealership. Attempted to call them at 11:30AM and reached message that they were closed for the day. . . ???? ORIG POST: Too good to be true? We purchased a used car on 9/5/17 from Sam at Grove Auto Center dealership and thought we got a great price. We had to take the car as is with no new car dealership detailing (just a quickie vacuum and tire spray), because they "sold the car on too tight a margin." Should have known there would be problems when we purchased the car and then got out in the boonies driving it home and realized the dealership had sold us a car with an empty gas tank. Thankfully we had our second car to make a gas run. It has now been almost two months and we STILL don't have a title, legal registration or license for the car. Each time I call there are promises to return the call, but I am always the one having to follow-up -- with no guaranteed resolution. My husband drives Uber/Lyft and they are no longer accepting the temporary paperwork provided by the dealership. AAUUGGHH! 61 days and waiting. . .41 days till Christmas. . . which will come first? read more

I do not want to waste my time writing up a thousand words on why I'm not satisfied with Grove Auto Center, nor your time reading it. I'm not happy with the car or service. I would not buy another car from this place or recommend it to anyone; even for a free oil change, so you guys can keep it. update: The entire team has done a great job trying to rectify the problems that I've had with Grove Auto Center. Repairs have been made to the vehicle under warranty; although I'm not 100% satisfied with one of the repairs, it's better than it was when I bought the car. I would also like to add, It's been 3 months, and I don't have the tags for my car yet. One other note, the day I bought the car, one of the guys that work there slapped a "no warranty" paper on the back window of my car, after I already agreed to buy the car with a warranty. Warranty was fine, but the paper had some super sticky stuff on it that is now stuck to my back rear window. He easily could've taped the paper on, and I'm not sure if they were trying to pull some slick no warranty BS at the last minute. Would I buy another car from these guys.... Maybe... The worst experience trying to get tires. They didn't get the correct tires (price or size). I learned this after being told it would take a couple hours and calling them after 3 hours of waiting. I couldn't afford the expensive tires that they incorrectly got me and I'm unable to take the additional time off. Pretty much half a day wasted and no tires. When I came to pick up my vehicle they said it would be 10 minutes, but that ended up being more like 25. After advising this is taking a little bit longer than expected I was told that they like to ensure that everything is done correctly. What??? Maybe they should have done that in the first place and got the correct tires for the correct price. They would have still have a customer. As of now it doesn't matter if they do have the best price I'm still not going back to them! read more

I bought a used Dodge Diesel Truck for my business, the previous owner had put in a lift kit and missed a few parts. The staff at Grove listened to me, took the truck for a test drive and researched what it would take to bring everything back to alignment. They got me in and out (with a few days notice) in a single day, the truck drives LIKE A NEW TRUCK now! The price was reasonable for both parts and labor. I am impressed. These guys took the time to listen, research and stand behind their work. As a veteran, I appreciate the discount, just adds icing on the cake. After searching through hundreds of cars online we found an Acura MDX here. We called them that weekend and immediately set up an appointment. We fell in love with it and thought the price was very fair. Took it for a test drive and everything ran smooth. We also double checked the carfax and saw that the two previous owners maintained the car very well. Overall it was a great experience service wise. No pressure from the dealership and they were very helpful. Originally we were concerned about purchasing an older vehicle (2001)but Calvin reassured us that it was inspected thru and thru and there were no major issues with the car. A few weeks later we went in to speak with them and Calvin was packing up his things and told us he no longer worked there. We found this a little odd but didnt think much of it. Today, 2 weeks after the 3 month warranty was up our check engine light popped up and gears were shifting randomly. Took it to get a diagnostic test and the p1750 code popped up which is a clutch pressure malfunction from the transmission. The mechanic told us the transmission is about to go belly up. When I called them today Jeff answered and I told him the issue and if he could have a manager call me. A few minutes later Jeff called back and said their is nothing they can do. I asked him if i could bring it in to get it checked but he said the mechanics were all booked. I asked if they could work with me on a payment to get the transmission fixed and he replied no we cant do that. This is terrible! I was really hoping to get atleast a little concern and a "no problem the least we can do is look at it" since obviously we misled you guys and there were a major issue when we sold it to you. But we were told flat out nope and this isnt their problem. 3 1/2 months and the transmission is completely blown and the car is rendered useless until i can get $2800 to get it fixed. I was just really hoping to have the car looked at by them since such a big issue has occurred 2 weeks after the warranty was up read more

I'll give it 2 stars as I've been going her for years and it hasn't all been bad. I started coming here because the customer service was off the charts good and I never questioned the repair efforts for my vehicles. That has changed in recent years, since Dean left. I don't question the mechanic services but there is utter incompetence on the customer service side. My last visit put it over the top. I won't list all the issues here but poor communication, terrible service at the front desk, and employees blaming each other for the confusion have all led me to taking my business elsewhere. I was VERY happy with the service I received from Sam when we purchased our used Subaru. He was great to work with all the way through in this 2-3 month process. We live in bend and the check engine light came on on our drive home. This snowballed into multiple issues all caused by incorrect reassembly from their head gasket job. First, leaking oil. We drive it back and they gave us a loaner. The battery died on the loaner in Beaverton and we had to drive back to get another loaner. Once we drove the loaner back and got our car back to Bend, the car went into limp home mode multiple times and we didn't feel safe driving it up to Forest grove (again) for maintenance. They did offer to cover the cost of a local repair shop doing the work for us. We have had NO problems since the local repair shop worked on it, and we have a great relationship with them now. Once our local shop replaced the timing chains (which weren't replaced with the head gasket for some reason) and throttle assembly, the car has been running great! This was April of 2018. Come July of 2018, we find out that the local shop HAS YET TO BE PAID!!!!! Besides Sam, I have major concerns about this establishment, and I'll definitely be going to bat for our local repair shop to make sure they get paid for what they were promised and job well done. read more

Save yourself the headache and TURN AROUND. My experience with Grove Auto Center was a joke. I mistakenly bought a 2011 BMW from the dealership. 2 weeks after purchase I had to return the car for a new A/C, Battery, and Radiator. After 6 months of purchase the car was returned back to Grove Auto Center for a new water pump, system flush, and diagnose on the foot wheeled module. The absolute best part of the story is Grove Auto Center made absolutely NO mention that the car had been in an accident. The CarFax Grove Auto Center gave at the time of purchase failed to reveal the car was in an accident in 2011. The report of the accident "appeared" on CarFax conveniently 3 months after the dealership warranty ended and after purchase. Grove Auto Center will not take any type of responsibility or offer a solution regarding this horrible business transaction. If you value integrity in a business do not go here. Purchasing the BMW from Grove Auto Center has been the worst decision of my life. I have reported Grove Auto Center to the Attorney General and would advise anyone looking for a "deal" or local business supporters to keep on looking. They don't deserve the star I gave them. read more

Staff was very nice. The process was easy. However, as you purchase a vehicle, that is when you find out the 3 month warranty is a 50% we pay/you pay warranty because "too many people were taking advantage of it." Then, they only had one key to the vehicle which is a FOB key. They gave me a name of a local business that can make one but did offer to pay for it. The car had custom wheels on it and when I asked about a wheel lock key, he said they were normal lug nuts. No, they are not and they did not have the wheel lock key. So, they sell a car that there is another key out there and someone has the wheel lock key. Poor standards for any company and even bad for a dealership. read more

Great experience purchasing my car here. For some in Portland, it is a bit of a drive to this place, but definitely worth your time (I had never been here before). There are quality vehicles on the lot to choose from, and there was no hassle taking a few for a test drive; no pressure on the purchase. Both the guys there are courteous and professional. I worked with David and he was able to answer my many questions. They offered a 3-day no-questions-asked return policy and 3-month warranty on the engine/drivetrain, which I liked. What I also liked about this place is it connected to a service shop, so they're not just bringing in vehicles, cleaning them up, and parking them on the lot. So i went to buy the 98 dodge ram reg cab cummins diesel. Was turned down due only because i work day labor. Adaquate credit score, down payment, job history, proof of income. But hard honest work has no value. Also beware the truck has issues, real ones. If you start the engine look underneath it on the driver side you will see a 1 inch pipe blowing white smoke. That is the blowbye tube. It blows white smoke when the piston rings are shot and the exhaust gas blows past them, into the oil pan then out the blow bye tube. Rear brakes dangerously locked up on me. AFC housing was missing all the bolts that came with it and cobbled exhaust. Shabby wrench work done by the last owner read more

We went to Grove Auto Center to look at a couple vehicles we had seen listed online. Jeff was very helpful and suggested we might like a Mountaineer that was out to a customer for a few days. We set up an appointment to come back and test drive it. When my husband called to confirm the appointment, he found out the car was still out. My husband was frustrated that they didn't call us to reschedule the appointment, but they made it right by switching vehicles with the other customer so that we could keep the appointment. We ended up buying the vehicle. Within 15 minutes, I discovered the car would not go in reverse. We were obviously frustrated, but when I took it back the next morning, they gave me a loaner car. It took them all day to diagnose the problem, but then they rebuilt the transmission for us at no charge, and gave us a loaner car for the whole week they were working on it. It's been about a month since we've gotten it back, and we haven't had any further issues. Despite the two frustrations we experienced, I believe they really want to do right by their customers, and I really appreciate them going the extra mile to fix our vehicle right away. read more

We were looking for a good auto repair shop to prepare our son's 2012 Hyundai Elantra for a long cross-country trip from Forest Grove to Dallas, Texas. What we found was a GREAT auto repair shop in Grove Auto Center! Our son had not taken care of the car, and I frankly thought it was a write-off. We worked closely with Cort and his staff to assess the car, and they gave us a very detailed list of things needed to return the Elantra to a mechanically sound condition. They performed the work with competence, and kept us informed of their progress and cost. We had requested a tight timeframe to accomplish the work since we needed to leave, and Grove was able to support our schedule. Cort and his team also found ways to reduce the cost for us, which we really appreciated. In conclusion, we were extremely pleased with Grove's technical expertise, their prices, and their warm approach to customer service.
