Instead of taking it back to Dave's, I took my car straight to the Honda dealership, where they first found green sludge in the fuel pump and cleaned it out. Thought that would solve the issue. Nope, the check engine light came back on. Another trip to Honda, Honda did more testing and determined the fuel Dave's Auto put in my car was contaminated with diesel. This has caused weeks of frustration, multiple trips to the dealership, and extra expense. I would not recommend bringing your vehicle here. I've never had issues with my car before this experience.

At that point, he recommended a new fuel pump, which they ordered that day. They installed the new fuel Pump and also found one of the spark plug wires was bad and grounding out as well. They replaced ALL of my plug wires as a courtesy! He called the next day and notified me the oil pressure sensor was bad and they replaced the part. inquired about a loan for the vehicle and they wouldn't due to price of the vehicle. When it was done I picked it up and brought it…read morehome I was happy to have it done I opened my hood to hear it run and look at it and I noticed 4 bolts sitting in the spots they go into on the spark plug cover . The bolts were not even hand tight . I was baffled and I thought ok I'll tighten those down and never go back to Jim's automotive in forest grove . Well I had that timing belt done April 22 this year 2024 . So driving home July 18 so less than 3 months later and I hear the worst sound coming from my engine . I wasn't going to have it towed to Jim's no way so I took it to a Japanese car specialist . He opened it up and the timing belt was shredded. They found a bolt that had come loose from the install that Jim's did . So I called the owner Jim and asked him if he would pay the other shop to fix what they did wrong and he said no . He did offer to fix the work but I told him no way will I ever bring my car back to them . When I spoke to him, he told me that sometimes when you take your car to another shop, they noticed things that the previous shop might not have picked up because of an extra set of eyes. I think this is total BS I should be able to depend on the shop that I take my car to in the first place, I expect my car to be fixed the first time if not the first time then maybe the second time but there's no way I would bring it back to them a third time. This is my experience with jims automotive and Forest Grove. I am going to be out a lot of money out of pocket because they did the job incorrectly. The first time the install they did did a lot of damage to my engine and now I am out of pocket just be aware of jims automotive if you have had good luck with them then that's great but this is my experience with them. They will not pay for another shop to fix it correctly and they will only fix it on their dime. If I bring it to them, I will never bring any of my vehicles to them. Unfortunately, this was a very bad experience. I don't know what I will do from here as far as trying to recoup my money back I have talked to a couple attorneys and we will see where it goes but be aware of jims automotive unless you want to take it back to them multiple times to make it right in my eyes you shouldn't have to take a car back to have it repaired multiple times because they didn't do the job right the first time I am going to upload some pictures and you can see the damage that has been done. I probably have bent valves. I'm probably gonna need some head work. It's probably gonna cost me around $4000, and this was all done because of preventative maintenance. I didn't even need to have my timing belt done at that time. The only reason I did it is because I had the money and I had about 15,000 miles before it was due. My car ran completely fine before I dropped it off to them the first time.

I was told he has extensive experience with the electrical systems of older cars. As I was restoring a 1959 Mercedes 190SL, this morning on July 11th, I naturally visited this place. The job I had was relatively small and manageable. It was only to remove the fuse box and two additional connections, each with only four wires connected to them, from my old wiring harness and replace it with a new, identical harness, one with the same color-coded wiring. I drove over 25 miles and arrived at this shop 10 minutes past 9 in the morning, where I was greeted by one of the workers. He said the owner isn't there yet and will come in about 30 minutes, and I replied, ' Okay, I will be back around 10 O'clock. Meanwhile, a truck arrived, and I was informed that it belonged to the owner. Rob came, and I, with a smile on my face, said good morning to him. His answer was, "Why are you here?" We open at 10 AM. I said, 'If you want, I can come back at 10?' He asked why I was there. I explained and acknowledged that this should be a tiny and easy job for him. At the same time, I told him that, as a restaurateur and chef, one of my former customers who has a dealership in Hillsboro had recommended him. He spoke in a coarse voice and angrily looked at me, saying, 'No, it's not a small and easy job. You grab a few ingredients and put them on top of each other, and then you call yourself a chef.' It is a tremendous job. And at the same time, he said we are not working on any car older than the 1980s. I told him that, less than a month ago, someone on your Google Business page reviewed that you worked on his 1970 Chevelle Malibu. This time, he said to write down what car I have so he will find me another mechanic. I told him what my car was, and this time he came to the door and asked me to leave, repeating that he would find another person for me and contact me. I wondered and asked how he would do it without knowing who I am or my phone number. Anyway, I left and the only impression I got from this place and Rob is that the color of your skin, your hair, and your accent play an essential role in whether he accepts you as a new customer and does business with you or not. If Rob had been honest and refused to do my job because it was small or he was swamped, rather than the way he acted, I would have thanked him and left without giving him any bad reviews. However, he decided otherwise. If I knew that, I would never go to this rundown mechanic shop.

It didn't fix all the problems because I had to take it in and I gave them the code data I got from my scan tool. They found the problem in the engine using a borescope and the front desk lady told me I should get it checked out at fuel monkey who works on engines all the time. I did and the Jeep is on the way to working right. They cost a bit but their mechanics are alright, everything they said made after the years I have been working on cars myself. No scams and they give you paperwork to show you just what they are doing. Maybe one caveat they wanted 400 for a new car battery, I laughed and said no I can put a new battery on myself. They charged up my old battery anyways which was a nice touch. Kind of a small shop but they let me park my jeep there while I got a hold of fuel monkey to fix the engine. Good people or at least I think so.
