This spot had great reviews and was literally around the corner so it was worth a try. A little more expensive than my current wax, but my time and energy was worth more than saving a couple dollars. This place is it. It's amazing. Such a cool, welcoming space. So clean. And Meg? She's amazing. Also, she's 100% worth the price because she's so thorough and careful. You really do get what you pay for, and after my appointment with her, the price is MORE than fair for what you get. She was so friendly, so welcoming, and made me feel so comfortable. As someone who has gotten waxed a long time, I can appreciate that, but I can only imagine what it would be like going to her for the first time, probably one of the best experiences! Highly, highly recommend.

Some major pros: They use a spray to help with the pain up front They use a special lotion and will send you home with a packet of it that has special antibacterial properties to help with healing They sell some great products so it's a great little on stop shop They're super close to clementines so you can treat yourself to an ice cream for going through the wax. He is suffering terribly from acne and you would think as an acne specialist Skin by April would care, but she doesn't! My friend knows so many people in St. Louis, and could have sent her tons of new clients, but because they are booked so far in advance, and are busy, April could care less. My Aesthetician offered to talk with her about my friends son and help transition him, but this woman and her helper wouldn't even speak to her. I have never heard of an aesthetician who is so rigid that she actually refuses to see someone she doesn't know simply because they went to somebody else first. Sadly I feel responsible because Skin By April seems to be the only game in town right now using this particular product line, but hopefully not for long. I was greeted by Detra who walked me through the services she provides to clients and I was curious about the "Ear Candling" services. In her cute spa, decorated with soft white furs, crystals and all types of spa equipment she set up the massage table for me to relax upon, then proceeded to continue to tell me step-by-step what she was doing and she showed me through the use of her iPad. I was amazed at how comfortable it was. Detra keeps her place clean, with aromatherapy and soft relaxing music throughout the treatment. I was very pleased with the service and her vibrant relaxing personality. Also, I'm very happy she let me know what she was doing throughout the process (many folks will say a word or two and that's it). Thank you Detra for a wonderful experience and yes I will be back. I'll start off this review by saying that I am VERY picky when it comes to selecting who I choose…read moreto cut and style my hair. My hair is so a part of my identity. It's my signature, and as shallow as this may sound, it is my best feature. So when it comes to trusting someone with my most prized element of my style, I can be a tad anxious in the selection process. If you live or work in Downtown St. Louis, Classics is the place to go! They have offer a number of stylists who have a range of specialties for both men and women. The first time I went to Classics when my regular barber was out of town (more on him in a bit), I was randomly assigned Courtney and she was really awesome. She was a very good barber and I would totally recommend her. Pro Tip for when you drive to Classics: Park on the street just south of Washington Avenue, which is St. Charles Street. There's always ample parking back there, and you can usually beat the meter maids. They don't patrol that area as much as Washington. Classics has a pretty chic vibe inside. I love how they converted the large support poles into barber poles. What a creative use of existing structures. I've never had to wait for my appointment, but there is a very comfy looking waiting area with a leather couch. The chairs for barbers and stylists are spaced well so that you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the person next to you while you're getting your haircut. The space feels clean and well kept. As for COVID regulations, they take your temperature when you enter. Both you and your stylist are also required to have a mask on during your appointment. So now on to talking about my barber. I will say I am hesitant to write this review because I don't want everyone in St. Louis to rush to Classics to get a haircut from him. Then I won't be able to make an appointment when I need one!! Andy used to work in a shop on Cherokee Street. I went to him religiously. He is SO skilled. What I really love about Andy is the way he knows about and cares for your hair. You may ask him to cut or style your hair a certain way, and he explains to you why it might not be a good idea. He really understands hair and has earned my trust over the three years I've been going to him for my haircuts. Andy offers a variety of skills when it comes to hair. He can give you a really good fade. In the past he has done an incredible design in my hair. I have referred three or four coworkers to him, all of whom have different hair types and styles. They all love Andy as much as I do. I personally like to have my hairline outlined with a straight razor, a look I picked up when living in New Jersey. Andy's lineup is fire. He is super accurate and his lines are always super straight. When you sit in Andy's chair, it is very relaxing for a number of reasons. I've already touched on how much trust I have in his expertise. But Andy is also a great conversationalist! I love sitting down and chatting with him. Conversation has always felt so natural and free flowing. You really get the feeling like you're one of his close, personal friends as opposed to just a head of hair he has to cut before moving onto the next customer. Today, in addition to my haircut I decided to indulge in some self care by treating myself to a facial with a black cleansing mask. Oh my literal Gee. I have never been so relaxed. He starts off by reclining the chair and slathering your face with oils while a steamer gently blows a eucalyptus scented air onto your face. Next he wrapped a warm towel on my face and gently massaged it over me. Wow it was so amazing. After a few rounds of this routine, he painted the black cleansing mask on my face. I then sat and let it do its pore cleansing work! After about 15 minutes of chilling the mask was peeled off and my face felt so incredibly clean and clear. Andy's prices are so reasonable. I have never felt stressed about being able to afford two haircuts a month. For the quality of my haircuts, I think that he charges a very competitive amount. It's also nice that he accepts mobile payment so you don't have to carry cash or risk passing COVID around by using your card. Wish I could give Andy TEN stars for the quality of his work!

And I can honestly say I'm heading home feeling like a brand-new woman. (Full hotel review coming soon.) From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest smile, which instantly set the tone for the entire experience. Then Crystal welcomed me back and took incredible care of me with a full-body scrub followed by a full-body massage--and wow. The body scrub alone was next-level relaxing. From my neck all the way down to my toes, every bit of dry winter skin was gently exfoliated away. My skin felt baby-soft--the kind of soft you keep touching because you can't believe it's yours. After rinsing off, I dried, slipped into the coziest space, and settled onto a heated massage table that immediately melted any tension I had left. Crystal checked in with me about pressure and focus areas, and when I say she listened--she really did. My neck and upper back were so deeply relaxed that I didn't even realize how much time had passed until she gently asked me to turn over. By the time she worked into my chest and shoulders, I was knocked out AGAIN. I awakened as she is lifting the bed so I can sit up. I'm handed a robe, water and slippers and slide my now noodle soft body down the hall to my facial. Another heated bed and Ashley await me. And my face is treated to a winter time refresh. I also feel asleep during this relaxing service. And when I woke up a moisturized and refreshed face was staring back at me. This wasn't just a spa treatment--it was intentional, thoughtful, and exactly what my body and mind needed. Every mom deserves this level of care and Ashley & Crystal made sure to make that happen.

What I left with was a chemical war zone on my scalp and hair that looked like it had been through a haunted car wash. The stylist completely botched my color. It was patchy, uneven, and flat-out fried. I looked like a spaghetti squash that had been left out in the sun. Worse. I went back to give them a chance to fix it and it somehow got even worse. The stylist acted like they had never seen a toner in their life and honestly seemed like they were not in a sober state to be handling bleach or scissors or any other living creature for that matter. I ended up going to another salon just to undo the damage and they were horrified at what had been done to my hair. After spending over six hundred dollars and enduring two appointments from hell, my hair is still damaged beyond repair. Think straw with commitment issues. Do yourself a favor. If you value your hair, your time, or your dignity, run in the opposite direction. This place should come with a warning label and a fire extinguisher.
