I am so shocked that skin by April refused to see my friends son because when she had a three month wait, I advised my friend to speak to my aesthetician in California who uses the same product line so he could at least get started on the products by another certified aesthetician. He has been waiting to see April For over three months and was told that she would not see him simply because he had gone to somebody else. He is suffering terribly from acne and you would think as an acne specialist Skin by April would care, but she doesn't! My friend knows so many people in St. Louis, and could have sent her tons of new clients, but because they are booked so far in advance, and are busy, April could care less. My Aesthetician offered to talk with her about my friends son and help transition him, but this woman and her helper wouldn't even speak to her. I have never heard of an aesthetician who is so rigid that she actually refuses to see someone she doesn't know simply because they went to somebody else first. Sadly I feel responsible because Skin By April seems to be the only game in town right now using this particular product line, but hopefully not for long. If you see this review, I hope you will strongly consider if this is the type of human being you want treating you. I would sooner fly to California! read more

the boutique itself is clean and stylish. Unfortunately, the service I received was a nightmare. A woman named Lindsey did my eyelash extensions. I had never had these done before, and did not realize until later just how terrible of a job she did. Everything was fine until she finished. She told me to open my eyes and I couldn't because she had glued them shut. She then took a sharp metal pick and began to pull my eyelids off of each other. With my eyes halfway open at this point, she continued to put this metal pointy thing way too fucking close to my eye for comfort. I blinked out of discomfort and she got very irritated with me, saying "if you move I could stab your eye so I'd suggest you sit still". I hadn't moved other than the blink. My extensions fell out about a week later. It was an expensive and painful process. I should have written this sooner but I couldn't remember the name of this dreadful place. I hope to god this woman has been fired by now. read more

I was so excited to see a spa, Skin by April, open up right around the corner from me in Benton Park. When I went in Wednesday I was EVEN MORE excited after the amazing treatment I received. I was greeted by April herself who offered by a drink and gave me a tour of the GORGEOUS space she rehabbed. The spa is in a historic building with pocket doors and all the amazing details of old buildings but with completely modern and fresh decor. The service, products, and atmosphere were all first class. As evidenced by the dozen certificates on the wall and the in depth conversation I had with her, it is clear to me that April is extremely educated in the field of dermatology and has trained under some of the best dermatologists in STL. The facial I received was above and beyond anything I've had before at The Face & Body and I'm so glad I have a new go-to spot here in the city!!! I was bummed because I had just gotten my eyebrows waxed a few days prior b/c they just added waxing to their services. She mentioned future additions like spa parties with catering by Benton Park/Soulard/Lafayette Square eateries and procedures such as Botox and fillers that may be coming soon too. Best estheticians hands down in St. Louis! I started going to April to keep my skin in tact and she knows everything there is to know about skin and for every skin type. She keeps my skin nice, bright, and clear. My daughter started to suffer from teen acne so I took her to Lindsey and within a months time she was all clear. I got a Groupon as a gift to visit Skin by April and had a great experience! My facial was very enjoyable and she was really thorough with extractions. Inside the business is set up really well to feel like a good mix of a home and business so I felt relaxed. It's well decorated. April seems to have a lot of knowledge about skin care and suited my facial to my skin type. My only complaint about the whole experience is around my experience of arriving at the business. It's not very well marked, which would have been ok except April was running late. When I walked up there was already another client waiting confused at the locked gate. She had called to try and confirm she was at the right place but there was no answer. We waited together and finally April arrived right at our appointment time. This was mostly annoying because of the inane amount of texts, emails, and website warnings you get letting you know you need to arrive 15 mins early. In a nutshell: it's a great place and their services are excellent but don't arrive early. read more

I am absolutely in love with this spa. Everything about this place is beautiful. The amount of detail of the atmosphere is breath taking. My spa girl took great care of me and I am in love with my tinted eyelashes. Everyone from the owner April (which is an absolute doll and amazing woman) is pleasant and professional. I recently visited Skin by April for the first time. The space is the first floor of an old (rehabbed) city house transformed into a spa with historic character. April herself was fantastic. Not only was she friendly and personable, she seemed to know her stuff. My signature facial started off with a brief chat about my skin regimen and any "problem areas" and during the facial itself, April was diligent and didn't rush the session at all. I also got the impression that she's constantly educating herself on different services and treatments available. My one caution is that if you're looking for a facial with a super relaxing spa-like atmosphere, with dim lights, warming table, massage and all that jazz, you're not going to get that here. However, if the actual treatment outcome is a higher priority for you, then I would highly recommend the personalized service here. It didn't feel like there was a "one size fits all" approach that you might experience at larger spas, and overall the services are a great value. read more

I found Skin by April on Groupon, and I was absolutely blown away. What a total gem! I'm about to deploy and wanted to get a nice facial before spending months in the desert. I cannot say how wonderful this place is, and she serves a proper cup of tea. Her spa is incredibly clean and fresh inside, and she's such a fantastic woman! I had my first appointment with April today through Groupon. I love the space - stylish, warm and inviting. April took the time to understand my skin issues. She's very personable and caring. I felt like the facial was customized. She had great tips and offered me sample products, but did not push a sale. My skin feels great and I will go back. Oh, and my Groupon had expired but she had no problem allowing me to make an appointment. read more

The space is beautiful, and totally my style. No, it's not a super quiet spa playing instrumental music, but to be honest, I prefer the upbeat vibe. April is clearly incredibly talented. The lash lift I received made my lashes look better than I could have ever imagined. April is a beautiful person inside and out and she's just so much fun to be around. I really want to like this spa as April is so nice. But I was given terrible service both times I went there and I just can't forgive what happened. I went a week prior to my daughters wedding for eyelash extensions. I made the appointment. I got all the automated emails and reminders and showed up right on time. My technician had another idea of punctuality and decided to run out between appointments to get an oil change and left me waiting for 30 minutes. Who does that? What business owner tolerates that? But I was nice and just hoped it was a small mistake. At the conclusion on that appointment I booked a revisit to get my eyelashes refilled as I have a very important trip to NYC planned and wanted them looking great. Again I got all the automated reminders and warnings that if I didn't show up they would charge me etc. Again I was right on time only to be told that they had forgotten about my appointment and I was offered a free facial. No way!!! I left work early and planned for this appointment before this business trip for three weeks. Yet they couldn't offer me the same respect by planning for my appointment. Totally unacceptable. I asked for my money back and she handed me a $20 bill. Sorry April but you have to get your act together. I left a positive review on groupon after my first experience despite the 30 minute wait. Now I wish I could change that one too. That $20 you gave me will only cover a small portion of my bill with the Face and the Body who is coming to the rescue to get me in right away. read more

I'm so excited that April moved her business into the neighborhood. The business is in a residential first floor rehabbed space and it's clean, beautiful, and inviting. April is great to chat with and exceptionally client-focused. My facial was custom built to my skin's needs and I felt like she really took her time.
