really wanted to like this place, it always got recommended to me and the lobby and ambiance was promising, we got there at around three, place was less than half full- it was 3:20 when we finally saw a server, we asked how long it would be for food and she said about 15 minutes because we were in a bit of a hurry, so we ordered and it took a little over half an hour to come out- the food looked delicious but left so much to be desired, my dates wings were black and dry as a bone , my nachos were soggy and hard to eat, the only think me and my boyfriend ate was his order of fries and ranch bc we were starving (the ranch was actually really good) we told the waitress that the food was not good and she was very short with us, i felt bad about the whole situation but it really put a sour taste in my mouth, never going here again read more

We are new to AZ and looking for places to eat. I found Growler's and started reading the reviews. After reading the review in the screenshot I knew I DEFINITELY had to go. I wasn't disappointed. My wife and I sat on the patio and were comfortable due to the misters. The previous review mentioned a "conservative" decor and she was right. Red, White and Blue everywhere. It was glorious. Christine our server was delightful, helpful and attentive. The reason for picturing only half my sandwich is: I ate the first half and enjoyed it immensely. The au jus dip was different from what I usually have. They added to it and made it special. The fries were crispy and tender on the inside. I had a Voodoo Ranger Hazy to set everything off. If you want a truly American restaurant/bar Growler's Taphouse is a place for you. And maybe you won't run into Ann, the anti-conservative reviewer. Also, sitting on the patio we got to smell the ribs being smoked. I'm definitely returning for those. Be sure and ask for Christne and tip well. Happy 250th America. read more

Great atmosphere on the patio on Thursday Nite's when Dave A. is playing music. The service is outstanding and very friendly. With the setting of the desert ambiance, it creates a truly wonderful evening of fun after a long week. Highly recommend the place for your gatherings, you will be happy you did. This place has a great atmosphere and vibe and the service is great. However the food or at least the chefs who make the food leave a lot to be desired. I ordered the paddy wagon burger with an upgrade to onion rings and my friend ordered the Steakout sandwich. I asked for my burger to be cooked well done. When our orders came out the onion rings were almost burned and I bit into my burger to find it was almost raw in the middle and still bloody (ew). I asked for them to redo the order which took almost 20 minutes extra which wasn't very good at all. But the redo was much better. But I probably won't order a burger from there again since the chefs obviously don't seem to know how to cook a well done burger at all. Nor do they seem to know how to fry onion rings without burning them! The fries my friend had were really good, and the ranch dipping sauce was very unique. Overall I don't know if I will eat there again unless someone else chose the venue. read more

We opted for the beyond burger with mushrooms and Swiss cheese and it was exquisite with perfectly seasoned french fries. Presentation: 10 stars. Excellent burger presentation on a cutting board. Very appetizing! Atmosphere: 10 stars. 13 big screen TVs inside plus a very cool prohibition era montage and excellent outside patio seating with heat lamps. The noble experiment burger was the perfect combo of smoked Gouda cheese, spicy bbq sauce, crispy onion strings and chipotle mayo-the flavors were on point. Stopped in to Growlers for our first time this weekend. We wanted a nice patio view with comfortable vibes and good eats. Did not disappoint! The screens were down blocking some of the view but also helped with the sun at that angle so all good! The patio was great and had plenty of seating and was very comfortable. The menu is simple but the food was delicious! The website says you'll come for the beer and come back for the food- as someone who doesn't drink beer- can confirm! The slaw on the pulled pork was AMAZING! And the fact that they were two oversized sliders vs one giant messy sandwich- LOVED IT! The sauce on the pork was sweet and tangy and a great balance with the slaw. Fries were so crispy too! My husband had the chicken spinach wrap for something a little lighter and it was also really tasty and filling. Service was good- our waitress was helpful in seeing what vodka they had on hand for me (the non beer drinker). And my husband got to try one of the moon brews from Crooked Tooth he had wanted to try. Will definitely be back for another visit and more of that pulled pork! We love this neighborhood bar. The prices are absolutely fantastic for pretty much everything on the menu. For our taste, the Ribs, nachos and tacos are the bomb. As far as the ribs go, our favorite combo is the dry rubbed with a side of their spicy bbq sauce(my mouth is watering while I type this, literally). The pic below was prior to finding this out. BOTH versions are incredible though. This is a family owned place, come to find out. We love supporting mom and pop places over corporate any day. Not too many people. Service was pretty good. The cost of the food is outrageous. The noble experiment burger was pretty good but the bun is oversized compared to the size of the meat. The build your own burger (not on the menu) starting at $14 found us nickel and dimed for toppings. Kids meal is $15 which includes fries and a drink but that's excessive for a kids meal. The beer list is ok but I've never found anything I've loved there. It will probably be a while before we come back again. read more

This is my second review for Growlers. The first was 7+ years ago when they first opened. I am so glad this place made it through Covid and is still here. Not only do they have the nicest bartenders around, I truly appreciate that they sell domestic taps at a reasonable price in addition to their amazing craft beer selection. I always enjoy visiting with the girls who work here. They are funny, happy to be working at this place (I attribute that 100% to their boss). Ivy, Rylie, Aliana, Sam, Gabriella, and Grace are always so amazing. I've seen some pretty challenging customers come and go, and they all handle them with patience and kindness- a trait that is often missing in today's service industry. They actually EARN their tips, and believe me- I choose "custom" tip every time because given the discounted beer price, 20% isn't enough. They work their tails off. Lots of televisions for your games. Super cool aesthetic (pennies on the bathroom floor as tile, mobster photos all around). The food is great- some of the items are on the spicy side- but come on!! This is the southwest after all. Buckle up! I love the green chili nachos. They have great live music, a jukebox with Touchtunes, and beautiful wood walls and accents all around. The chairs are still tall and I'm still short, but it has proven to be something that makes me feel accomplished once I climb up there. My fiancee brought me on a date here and I was so excited to see that they had Sonoran White Chocolate cream ale on tap! It's one of my favorite beers! I will definitely be coming back for more beer. The jalapeño poppers were delicious. I think it came with a cucumber salad thing but not sure what to call it since it wasn't in the menu description. My wrap was very good and filling! It's where me and my partner had our first date and we always crave and come back for the wings! My only cons are that the chairs are super bulky and heavy lol and there is a political figure/toy behind the bar I'm not too fond of. SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL so with out further ado, had never heard of this place, headed over for a get together with our brothers from our Chapter League and I felt so so bad for the waitress I did not get her name I think was Sylvia, super sweet and super helpful, the service was VERY VERY GOOD, and she did everything, the decor is super cool, what you would expect super laid back and chill, and rustic, cowboy the West look, a little bit of AZ, TX, CA, NV, AND Mountains also, the food was pretty good. The burgers are AMAZING highly recommend their onion rings looked bomb and drinks also. Everything was really really good from the service and staff to the food and decor. I Highly recommend this place has got to be bumpin and RIppin and running on weekends especially summertime. Would be awesome also if they had misters on the patio!!! and something to keep the flies away. 've been a regular at this establishment since January, and while the service was great at first, it has steadily declined over time. My most recent visit this past Saturday was by far the worst experience I've had, and I'm honestly considering this my last visit. When my wife and I arrived, we were greeted quickly by the bartender and served drinks right away. However, we were never offered menus, and the bartender quickly left to spend the rest of her time with a regular customer, leaving us completely unattended. I noticed the wait staff coming to the bar multiple times to make their own drinks, all while the bartender seemed oblivious to what was going on. She only checked on us after we asked a waitress for silverware and menus. To make matters worse, the kitchen staff ended up bringing us our silverware when they delivered our food, as the bartender had failed to address the request. I've already sent a complaint email about the decline in service, but it went unanswered. So, it's no surprise that things have only gotten worse. While the kitchen and wait staff are doing a great job, and the food is good, it's clear that there's a lack of skilled bartenders and effective management. read more

We've played trivia here several times on Sunday night and have always enjoyed ourselves. They have indoor, outdoor, and bar seating, with a nice relaxed atmosphere. With that being said, every time we have dined in they are always short staffed. Service is friendly but the servers are always hustling and overworked because there is usually only one or two for the whole restaurant. Food is decent, but kind of overpriced for what you get. I'm also not a fan of how the food is served: on these really awkward long planks. Why not just use regular plates? Definitely check it out for the beer and vibe, and trivia on sundays at 6 is fun. So we put in for a table for 6. Only 3 of us were there when we checked in. There was plenty of space @ the bar so that's where we went. We were ready for some drinks!! I was craving a seltzer!! Well guess what?? NO seltzers on the menu. :-( So then I saw a Strawberry vodka, well guess what??? They were out of strawberry vodka....awh man I'm thinking "where is this night going for me??" So the bartender asks "what were you looking for?" & I told him "a seltzer" LOL He tried to make some flavored vodka suggestions but one had basil or something in it & I wasn't sure if I would like that or not so I saw Tito's & just went with a good old Tito's, soda water & a lemon. He actually got the lemon part right which I love because so many bartenders always give me a darn lime. It hit the spot. My friend was nice & allowed me to try her beer, was tasty, not too bad but I'm not a big fan of brewed beers mostly due to the wheat after taste. A sip was good enough for me. I decided to grab an appetizer while we waited for everyone else to show up. What I noticed about their menu is they LOVE jalapeños & put them basically in everything they serve...lol I'm not big into spicy/hot foods but I can handle a "little" heat. I got the Lucianos & I thought they were going to be long slices of jalapeños but they're were cut crosswise so not all pieces had cheese on them. They were pretty tasty & actually not too spicy at all. Their ranch is different as it seems to have some dill in it. I've had better ranch. As soon as I placed my order in the rest of our crew arrived. The bartender said he could transfer our bill over to the waiter but I wanted to pay for my friend's & also he did the work so I wanted him to get a tip for it. Thank God I did this because our waiter wasn't the best. :=( 3 burgers were ordered, one side of onion rings, their grilled cheese & a Real McCoy. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. My friend had to send her burger back due to it being under cooked but when it came back out it was correct. Everyone pretty much cleared their plates but myself only because my sandwich was big & filling. I got their Real McCoy & was only able to eat 1/2 of it. I've had a sandwich just like this but it was called a Monte Christo. This sandwich was OK. I wish it came with a sweet jam to dip it in. Their pineapple purée sauce was OK. I've got to say the best part of our meal was the dessert!! My friend's husband got the La Cosa Nostra & it was sooooooo yummy! I only got 1/2 of a 1/2 of one but oh man it was tasty!! The chocolate sauce was amazing & the shell had a nice crisp to it. Our waiter was a little slow & not very attentive. He left our dirty plates & empty glasses on the table for awhile. He never came back to ask us how our food was after he brought it out. We had to tag someone else down to send my friend's burger back but he went & grabbed our waiter. I found it interesting to see these young boys in their short shorts, summer like uniforms here. I'd say this place is more laid back. Decor is nice & its a relaxing environment. Their chairs are HUGE. Very tall & you have to climb up into them. Not very suitable for elderly or short people & man they're heavy too!
