My wife and I stopped in for lunch at Home Plate Marana today. We were delightfully surprised by the friendly service, the plentiful, and tasty food. As a sports bar, it was well appointed with numerous televisions. We can't wait to return to watch NFL on the weekend. Food wise, we both ordered burgers; a bacon cheeseburger with fries, and a Swiss mushroom burger with fried green beans. Both burgers were juicy and tasty. The fish and chips were black and burnt and they did nothing to compensate after the owner was told. The waitress was very apologetic and gave us a break on drinks. Last time fish was golden brown, but burnt this time. read more

Do not come here. Came here with a group of people for the Super Bowl and they muted the super bowl halftime performance and decided to play "the alternative" show. I go in to play a pool game PLANNING ON BUYING SOME FOOD AND DRINKS with some friends. as soon as i put my quarters in the pool table this lady came running around the corner with a very negative bad attitude demanding that we all payed for at least 10$ per person worth of food or leave . since when is this a rule like? we're not allowed to share a dish of food or two ? crazy. i didn't get the lady's name but i was in there around 6 pm may 28 this lady needs better hospitality training. read more

So I've been back several times since my first review. Their burgers are still amazing! Better than anything around and the same goes for their french fries. Ingredients taste fresh and sooo much better than those fast food style burgers. They seem to draw a regular crowd and the server while super friendly and attentive, appears to be responsible for both the bar and tables so that would still be my only critique. We eat here at least twice a week, every week, and watch our football team in addition. We have celebrated the Super Bowl here every year for the past five years. This year instead of watching the scheduled halftime show, we were forced to watch a racist, sexist, unscheduled show unless we wanted to leave our table and go to another room. We're done. Definitely the most fun sports bar I have found in the area. There are plenty of TVs to enjoy a variety of sports as well as batting cages outside and a gaming area inside. There's a large variety of draft beers that are a great price. The menu has a variety of different options. I highly recommend the wings, they are huge with a lot of flavors to choose from. I've also had the pretzel that come with home made cheese that is delicious. The restaurant is locally owned and operated and the owner even comes out and greets her guests nightly! This place is fine for Family. Stuff for them to do. Game room and batting cages. The food is good Bar food. Not anything special. But, they do have enough of a menu. You can find something to eat. Service is typical for the area. It all has to do with how busy they are. Plenty of parking. The Ambiance here, is a Bar with tables and chairs as well as seats at the bar. For $9 I expected at least pico or something a little more than this... I understand it's a bar restaurant but I expected a little more for $9 and NACHOS... We asked to speak to management and got told multiple times she was busy on the phone, next time we asked she said okay, manager or supervisor never showed up and then I asked her about it and she said there was no one here to speak to. We paid for the nachos and are extremely pissed and disappointed... All over $9 nachos that were disgusting and my fiancé told them he was NOT paying for it and wanted to speak to the manager, bartender told us in 3 separate occasions that the manager was busy and then second time she said she wasn't coming out third time I went up to the bar with my fiancé and asked to speak with her she told me no one was there except them. We went out to the batting cages to meet my nephews baseball team and the cook or dishwasher came out trying to fight my fiancé and then followed by the I guess owner of this place (short white old lady) and she threatened to shoot us and said we had spilled all of our drinks on the table before coming out which we did not do, we called the police and they told us to leave after getting everyone's story. Wanna get over charged and get "Customer service with an attitude!" ? Def your spot! We ordered MVP fries and the fries tasted like they were microwaved after sitting out for awhile & they just tossed the freshly cooked meat and whatever else came with it on top. We had sent them back because the fries didn't even taste edible. Server came back with attitude asking what was wrong with the fries and took them back. Never mentioned having to pay, or offering to remake it. We played for a few hours and spent lots of money on the batting cages and pool tables since we came in with a lot of family. Also ordered a few drinks. At the end of the night, try to cash out and realize the fries are still on there so we said something. Cook said we ordered it so we had to pay. Pay for something we didn't even end up getting anything out of? Crazy work. They could've offered to remake it, advise us they'd still have to charge us and left it, or literally anything in the book to try to make it right but instead took the fries and still charged us. On top of that, she charged us an extra beer that we did not get. Tried to tell her they over charged us for an extra beer we didn't get too and she said "oh well I can't do anything about it I already charged the card" and tried to tell us to deduct it from whatever tip we were going to leave. I'm not one to leave many negative reviews but this was definitely a scam out of an extra $20 on top of everything else we got. Unprofessional, rude, and don't have great customer service! read more

A pretty fun place. I don't necessarily think the service is all that great. The food was actaully pretty good, even though all I had was the chef salad. I noticed other people at my party's food all looked to be pretty good. They definitely had alot of entertainment though and that's what this place is all about. Batting cages are always fun for me. This time though, I didn't even step outside. The inside has nice and well spaced seating for the restaurant and a great bar area, full of large TVs, all on different sporting events. Not like a usual sports bar, that has 10 TVs, that show a total of 3 channels. I think this place is pretty well managed. The only problem I had, was I asked the waitress for some extra salad dressing and she never brought it. That's a simple mistake though and isn't something that happens regularly. I walked here from my apartment and this place isn't really visible from the street but I noticed the nets before I saw the sign so I figured I was in the right place. I was meeting up with my softball team for a little batting practice. The place had a weird smell upon entering but I head outside to the batting cages to find a table as I was the first to arrive. It was pretty busy outside with other people and children running around but I grabbed up the first empty table. There are no servers outside so you must go inside to the bar to order. They have a change machine but you also have to go inside to make change, if like me you don't want to put large bills in the machine. We rented a cage at $18 for half an hour but they don't give you a sign or block it off so a little girl ran in there and hit while her parents watched knowing we had rented it. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger which took about 20 min to come out, wasn't anything to write home about. While sitting out at the table a spider web descended down onto me twice and then I noticed the spider crawling on my thigh so they could do a better job of cleaning the rafters if you're going to offer outdoor seating. Their dessert is also limited but I ordered a bowl of ice cream (don't). It was a bowl of frost bite and probably the cheapest ice cream from Fry's.. they had like 5-6 cages with slow and fast pitch and they also offered bats and helmets but you can bring your own like we did. read more

I never complain about a restaurant but I could not let this visit go without giving folks a heads up. We came in to watch the U of A game and sat at the bar. The waitress was remarkably unfriendly, unhelpful, and could not engage in conversation about anything. The first beer ordered was on tap and was tasteless and flat. The nachos were perfectly awful....a plate full of stale tortilla chips covered in thin canned cheese. There were fresh cut jalapeños on top that had seeds and were so hot you could not eat them. The sweet potato fries were the only edible item ordered and they were served hot. If you are looking for batting cages, go to Home.Plate. if you are looking for a fun, friendly atmosphere with good bar food, run as fast as you can into the outfield!!!
