I have had the pleasure of dining on occasion at Grub Brothers Eatery since it opened. My book club hostesses (18 members) have hosted some of their meetings here. This November 2014 I was out of state and contacted their manager, Joan via phone. They handled the whole luncheon with me out of state (for 6 weeks)! From the wine to the desert, everything was taken care of. Gluten free is an issue for some members and it is never a problem. The kitchen is justifiably trusted to cater to special diets. They have space upstairs and in their front room to handle 18 easy. The front room is separate but not closed off from the rest of the restaurant. However, it remains remarkably easy to conduct meetings , break bread and share fellowship. I highly recommend them. read more

Holy cow the menu was huge!!!! If you can't find something to eat there then you are too picky. Variety of food. Portions were great. I left full. My waiter was polite and very helpful. I was torn between a few things and she steered me in the right direction. read more

I really like this place. It's a good place to go when you have a big group of people. The food is good, but I'd suggest sticking with the burgers. I've never had anything bad, but some of my friends weren't impressed with their sandwiches and got burgers the next time (and were happy with the burgers). 4 stars because it is unusually loud in there... read more

Came in here for dinner- Pros: -Good selection of beer -Burger was pretty good -Friendly service -Great prices, way cheaper than we're used to in Boston! Cons: -A good beer list shouldn't be in ABC order but should be organized by type of beer (IPA, lager, wheat, etc). There were also a number of errors identifying beers on the list (for example, Red Stripe was mislabeled). -The food came out suspiciously fast and was lukewarm (pre made?) -I'm glad to see a thriving business in the desolate downtown. However, as out-of-towers we almost kept driving because the neighborhood was dead. I wish more people would support local business. read more

Had an excellent wedge salad with catfish. Large selection with assorted of food and a bar with NC local tap beer. The Bar is on the right side and the restaurant on the left side as you come in the door. Service was very good. read more

Decent food and huge beer selection. Happily surprised they had vegetarian options too! The waiter was super friendly and surprised me with a delicious Mother Earth beer when I asked for a local wheat beer. Had the veggie burger, which was solid. Lots of meat options for all the carnivores out there. Pretty standard bar food. Fare prices and casual. Awesome that it's standard to give separate checks. This is not a place I would take my wife for an anniversary celebration, but it is a very good place to eat if you are hungry. We ate there last night (12-06-19). I got the plain cheeseburger with fries. My wife got a club sandwich with chips. Both choices were good. Grub Brothers has a decent selection of local (within 50 miles) beer. The long and short of it is that if you are in Washington and want a place to eat and get a beer or a drink, this is a good place to try. read more

My wife and I had lunch here today. A sign was posted at the hostess stand explaining that service times could be longer due to staffing issues (this wasn't unexpected, given it seems most places have cut hours or can't find folks willing to work). We were promptly seated; the restaurant was 2/3 full of diners. Our server did a great job, not only with our service, but with the other tables she was covering. My wife got the chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries as her side. The sandwich was overflowing; it looked great and she said it was delicious. I sampled the fries - they were crinkle cut and done perfectly. I ordered the special, fried blue crab sandwich, It came dressed with sides of lettuce, tomato and coleslaw. My side was their house made fried chips, which were lightly salted and crunchy crisp. I had them add their house made bacon to the sandwich. It was as good as any fried soft shell I've eaten before, albeit a little small. The tomato seemed to be a hot house grown product, which was disappointing, since tomato season is in full swing right now. This was our first time dining here and overall, we were well pleased. Service was great, wait time wasn't as long as anticipated, but we still had a nice, leisurely lunch. Would highly recommend, we will go back. read more

My family ate here after a morning of kayaking in the sound. It is a little dated looking but it makes up for it in food and service.. I was not very crowded when we went, a Saturday at noon. We ordered the "possum in a trash can" nachos which we gobbled up very fast. The chips were very thin and crispy and the pork on top was great. I ordered the Carolina girl burger with collards. The collards were chopped up good and tasty. My burger was also cooked perfectly and had a really good bun as well. I was worried when I saw such a large menu that it would not be good but the whole table loved their food. I am not saying this is fine dining but I would recommend this place for anyone wanting filling food that pleases everyone. read more

Food was not good here. The Mac n cheese was burnt, and they made up a story for why there was no jelly on a PB&J. The burger was way over done and overall the food took way to long to come out. The server was friendly and very attentive. read more

The food was great but the waiting time was pretty ridiculous. About a 30 minute wait for a to-go order. Other than that there was no issues. The burger was beyond delicious and the fries....the fries are just perfect! I decided to take a short trip to try this place since the reviews were pretty decent. My sister and I enjoyed the fried green tomatoes. I was hoping for slices but instead they come in bite-size pieces with a mayo-based dipping sauce that was also tasty. As for our main dishes, my sister enjoyed her oyster poboy, but I did not enjoy my ribs; they were tough and fatty. I did not finish them. As far as the decor, the place could use a remodel. It is dark and quite dreary. A deep cleaning, some paint, better lighting, and better seating would make a world of differnce. In short, I'd only eat there again if no better options were available. read more

Like some commenters have said before the place has a weird mildew/mouldy smell when you enter. Service was ok, but we had to wait for our food for an hour (not kidding) and when it arrived some of the dishes at our table looked like they had been sitting out for just about that amount of time. To top it of the food was below average. My salad was not grilled, but just wilted, dressing from the bottle and dry chicken. The rest was just standard fried food. Even though the waitress was fully aware of us having to wait excruciating long for our food we didn't get offered a discount. All in all, we didn't expect much but were nevertheless underwhelmed. Fun little place in a cute little town. Food was good, the home made chips were by far the best side we ordered, and the service was great. Short walk to the waterfront for a quick stroll after lunch. Definitely a place to stop again as we drive between Virginia and South Carolina. read more

Second visit. First was average at best. This visit the restaurant had a mold or mildew smell to greet me and my friends. The waitress was nice and provided good service but the food had problems. Both my friends ordered clam chowder and it came out cold, the corn bread muffins were cold like they just came out of the fridge. Not sure what they cook fresh there. The ribs were good. The Cole slaw was not. Overall not good. A local told me the new management was bad and he doesn't eat there anymore. I will not be going there again even though restaurants are few and far between except for fast food in Washington NC. read more

One of my favorite places to go! They used to carry White Street craft beers from Wake Forest, NC and I'm hoping they'll bring it back... In the meantime, their new menu features cheese curds on the Sheboygan burger! Its a burger, melted cheese curds, bratwurst and sauerkraut all on a bun! I have eaten here personally a few years ago, and the food is AWESOME! However, my experience as a Door Dash was HORRIBLE! When I walked in I was greeted politely by a young lady in the dining area. I notified her that I was here to pickup a Door Dash order, and she politely directed me to the bar area to pick up the order. The young lady behind the counter on the afternoon of Saturday, October 17th around 4:20PM was unnecessarily rude! This was my first time Door Dashing at this restaurant, and I had clear proof that the order for my customer was in the app. I politely and professionally used the app to show the young lady the order and she very rudely proceeded to tell me not only once, but twice that the restaurant does not work with Door Dash. I politely left, a s called Door Dash support. The restaurant needs to be removed from Door Dash on the actual app, so that this will not cause any confusion with future customers. We came here after walking around the area for awhile. The food was tasty, we got an assortment from salads, to burgers, to pork sliders, to chicken tenders, and pork rinds. Service seemed a slow(maybe we were just really hungry), but was very courteous and helpful. I recommend this joint to anyone who wants a tasty meal, for a decent price. read more

I've been here several times, and each time the wait staff is phenomenal and the food is always delicious. This is not 5 star dining, but this is that type of southern cooking that makes you loosen your belt and you need a nap afterwards. Their pot roast nights - are delicious and a must try. The reason I'm going out of my way to write this review is I spent my 30th birthday here. I walked in with 45 minutes to spare before their closing time (after being EXTREMELY disappointed by spending hours at another local bar in the area (Backwater Jacks)). With 45 minutes left of open time, the wait staff was still smiling, wished me happy birthday, and gave me some of the most delicious cheesecake to share with my friends. The service industry is hard - and it gets harder when you employ people that hate their job and/or hate being there - whoever is doing the hiring at Grub Brothers keep it up, you made my birthday memorable in 45 short minutes when another bar failed miserably for over 2 hours! Well, the tea was good... And the goodness stopped there. I had the opossum trash Nacho's and pretty much ended up with chips. There was hardly any toppings on it. I asked for more toppings on the side to add to it and was brought out a small saucer of BBQ and BBQ sauce. Hmm. I definitely will not be back. The waitress stated that it was pretty stingy of them. Wonderful friendly place! 9 do us stopped in for dinner. They were very accommodating. Got us all settled together. Made 4 separate checks with no problem. Food was hot, well presented and very teasty! We got burgers, Ruebans, shrimp dinner and chowder. All very good! Prices were very reasonable, and our server was a peach! The food is delicious, but it is much better if you dine in. Of the many times I have taken food out, it had always been cold by the time I get home (which is only 5 minutes down the road). However, they have amazing food and you should definitely pop in. read more
