Great food but took a long time to get it. Waiter was rude and told us to shut up while asking questions then ignored us after taking our order (maybe he got upset when I asked about the appetizer we had ordered? He said there was no appetizer ordered). When our food came out he handed it off to the hostess and other waitresses to deliver. We had to search for someone when we noticed that some of our sides were missing. When trying to leave he wouldn't bring our check. After about 15 minutes my husband went to the bartender to ask for the check and was asked why he was coming to the bar when we were at a table. He explained about our waiter ignoring us and she went to talk to him as she was the manager. He came to our table and proceeded to yell at us in front of other guests. No point in trying to eat here. Waiter asked what I'd like to eat and then I was told they were out of what I wanted. I asked for something else and was told they were out of that too. I tried ordering 4 different things to be told each time they were out of it. At that point I decided to eat elsewhere. A manager came over, and attempted to apologize and say this is their busiest two weeks of the year and they were getting a truck making their delivery this afternoon. She tried asking if there was something else she could get me but I said no because I am sure they would be out of whatever else I tried to order. There was only two other tables seated, so I have a hard time believing they were "busy". My son and sister got something after asking for a few different things. This was my first time visiting Washington, NC; I ate at Grub Brothers for dinner. I was instantly greeted by the hostess. I was then, waited by La'Tayna, and she was so bubbly and sweet. I want to give full 5 star marks because I know this place has good food, but I feel like I chose the wrong meal based on waitress recommendation. That and the lack of atmosphere in the dining area makes me drop it a mark. Lets talk about the food. We started off with the Boo-Co cheese fries and those were great. Fries were well seasoned and the bacon had great flavor. I opted for the crock of chowda and I really loved it. It was chock full of goodness and was really flavorful. My wife went with the bbq sliders and enjoyed them. The menu is huge and they have a lot of unique burgers, which is what I should have got. I think I would have enjoyed it more than what I got. I'm a sucker for most things Cajun so I was talked into getting Cajun pasta with shrimp. Don't get me wrong, it had very good flavor and had a good amount of spice which I like. There were a good amount of shrimp as well. The biggest issue I had with it was it is just too rich and impossible to eat all of it. The cream sauce was more like a queso cheese and was very rich. Again, good flavor, and go for it if that's your dish. Overall, it's a good place with a good beer list. There's some atmosphere near the bar but none at all in the dining area we were in, plus it was a bit warm. If we're ever in Washington again I will definitely get a burger next time. read more

Went here last Saturday night while visiting my hometown for the weekend. It was busy, which is awesome for Washington. We had to wait for a table so we took advantage of checking out their bar. Plenty of bottled beer and about seven or so drafts. They have Abita (a personal favorite) and I know nowhere else in Washington does... so kudos for that! We were seated maybe thirty minutes later, and our waitress came over right away. Our table ordered the Opossum in the Trash (barbecue nachos) as an appetizer, and they were amazing. Really, really good pulled pork. All of us at the table ordered burgers- I had the Southern Belle (pimiento cheese, caramelized onions, fried green tomato). Very good, although it would have been even better if it were slightly less done; however, this is Eastern NC, and people want their burgers super cooked, so I understand. The sweet potato fries were crispy and everything was a decent serving size. Hope this place continues to do well... great addition to the Washington waterfront! read more

We had an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon so the place was nearly empty. But the food was great. Some very creative options in the burger department and a summer favorite of a "cold plate" of chicken salad, pimento cheese, potato salad, and some sliced carrots and cucumbers served on greens along with homemade crackers. Two of our party got burgers, another got a three item cold plate, and I had a bowl of chile and a cold plate. All the food was excellent and the service was very good. This as one of the worst dining experiences ever. The service was less than par and the food was not worth the price. Their menu has too much variety and takes a while to read and decide what to order especially for first time guests. Luckily, a native to Washington had suggested an appetizer so I went with the suggestion instead detailing the exhaustive menu. Our table was a party of eight. It took several minutes to be seated and another several minutes before our drink orders were taken. We ordered an appetizer and it arrived to our table before our drinks. It seemed that our server had several tables while others servers sat on their phones or chatted with one another. In addition, we had to ask for a refill for drinks and one our of sons did not like the fruit punch he ordered. We asked to order a sofa instead and the server forgot it. When a second server came to assist with refills she poured the tea from the bottom of the pitcher into my son's glass. It had all the sediments at the bottom and the server didn't even ask to refill the ice, just poured old tea. Now let's get to the food- Boneless chicken wings are chicken tenders with a side of buffalo sauce in a dish. The side salad consisted of greens and three cucumbers. One of my son's burger had onions after he specially ordered to hold the onions. The fries were overcooked and seemed more on the burnt side. The food had little to no taste and the quality of the food and service lacks. We gave this restaurant an opportunity and unfortunately our party of eight will not be returning. read more

Small to average storefront that upon walking inside leaves you to wondering if you just stepped inside your parents basement! There is a undeniable musty smell that is probably from the coatal location with the never ending dampness that seems to permeate everything in sight! However, the food is amazing! The Possum Nachos is the locals calling card it seems, so I took the bait and went for it! Perfectly crispy nachos, possibly made in house, covered in large chunks of pork bbq, topped with fresh made salsa and cheese, and drizzled with their own bbq sauce! The pork is reminiscent of brisket with large pulled pieces thats not over powered by their house made bbq sauce. The salsa is incredibly good and leaves you wondering if they have a shot at Mexican cuisine if this doesn't work out! The final drizzle of sauce on top of this concoction is perfect and just thin enough to not be too much! Their Seaffod Chowder appears to be a local favorite, as well as the Po Boy Seafood sandwiches. No, Washington, NC is certainly not centrally located near anything, but if your travels ever bring you that way it's worth checking in on Grub Brothers! read more

We order the catfish cakes no seasoning at all and okra fritter tasted as if it had been out all day. In addition the collards were so watery, thought we asked for soup. Had lunch there on May 25, 2014. Hostess was not welcoming--kind of like we were an inconvenience. Waitress could not really describe the menu. When I asked her about the chili, she told me she didn't eat meat and that was about it. I asked her about the chowder and she responded that "she was told it was good". The chowder was pretty light on the seafood. My wife had the boneless chicken wings with the honey chipotle sauce. The sauce tasted like plain old barbeque sauce. What we asked if this was the honey chipolte sauce, the waitress said "it looks like it". Overall not a great experience and the prices were high. read more

For everybody that thinks they like Grub Brothers or is thinking about going, let me give you a little insight on what they've got going on. For one, the cockroach infestation in the kitchen, as well as the dining area is outrageous. I've seen them with my own eyes crawling all over the plates and other stuff in the kitchen. There was a actually a former employee that had a cockroach on a CUSTOMER. There was also an incident where a moth was found in someone's salad. Next, as many people have already mentioned, there is mold throughout the whole restaurant and the floors are starting to cave in as well. Also, they use food that has been sitting out for long periods of time (which has been a recent health inspection problem) along with using old food. They actually had rotten chicken in the freezer that was around all the other food at one point. The owners make their employees come in after throwing up the night before or that morning or whatever, regardless the heath code on the wall in Grub Brothers states that no employee should come in until 24 hours after their last symptom. For the past couple of months that I worked there, we had several customers say that they'd never come in again because of the bad food experience and the wait time was usually ridiculous. The kitchen manager constantly treated employees with disrespect, whether it was telling them to shut up and just stop talking or to get out of the kitchen when they came to check on food, it was always something extremely negative. There were also many time where she'd go sit at the bar and drink and then go back into the kitchen to work. Employees have had their checks withheld for long periods of time because they couldn't afford to pay them. There was actually an incident where the food was repoed because of a bad check given from Grub Brothers. I recently stopped working there so everything in this post is what I witnessed read more
