Wow! Avi is a great barber. I brought my boyfriend in for a haircut and beard trim today after making a reservation. I am so pleased with the results, he looks wonderful!! We walked in and he was immediately seated and I was whisked to the couch to sit behind. We were offered shots and water, the former I politely declined and the latter I gratefully accepted. Avi got to work on my partner's hair. When he was done, he had the sharpest edges, a really well groomed beard, a couple of tips to maintain the beard and 'stache, and a few hummus recommendations. I have been coming regularly for a few years. My experiences have been really good. But....recently I have noticed a change in attitude....almost as if I wasn't as welcome....I let it ride until late June when I was having a hard time booking an appointment. When I tried "walking in" which I rarely have done, I was told "Well we're busy. It IS PRIDE week!" (very off hand, btw!) DUH! I came in 2 weeks ago and got an awful cut...my hair looked like I had a toupe! I have always liked Gabby and most of the barbers and I was originally struck by the friendliness and hospitality... but lately I have encountered a change. Don't bother, go somewhere else. I booked at 12:30 appointment online. I showed up at 12:18 and nobody said "hello" or "how can we help" or "we'll be right with you." Nothing. At 12:38 I left as all the chairs remained full and nobody showed signs of being finished soon. Grumd called at 12:47 p.m., I didn't answer, to I assume ask where I was. I've been coming to Gabi for a haircut for what is now at least 4 years. Initially I stumbled in because it was the next closest option to me when I lived in HK after having a less than pleasant experience with the first barbershop that I tried in the area. I haven't looked back since. I moved out of the neighborhood for a little over a year but I still found myself making the trip back every other week. Gabi is hilarious, super friendly, very skilled at what he does, and incredibly consistent. Also now he offers customers booze (which was not a thing when I started coming). All the barbers are nice, hip, young guys, and they do a great job. The atmosphere is chill, and the prices are comparable to other barbershops in the area. One note for the staff: Keep the music on and the televised sports off. Your clientele is primarily gay; most of us don't want to listen to a football game while we're getting our our cut. I received an OK cut here, but the barber was really rough on my neck and gave me pretty bad razor burn. My girlfriend was upset so she posted a 3 star review (which I thought was very fair, if not generous). The owners proceeded to harass her online, claiming that it couldn't have been them that caused the razor burn (it was!) and that she should take down her review. They were rude and completely unapologetic. I planned to go back before this to give them another chance but I won't now. Owners: before you ask, no I won't take down this review.
