I almost don't want to leave a review because I don't want to ruin the neighborhood/locals vibe. We just happened to stumble across it as it is out of the mainstream travel area. You order and pay at the front of the cafe and then they bring your food to your table. Your drinks are self service, which I personally like because I don't have to ration my drink until a server comes around. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Our server was friendly with everyone who walked through the door and was right there to make sure we had everything we needed. Not the annoying type of being there watching you eat but the walk by and check on you type. The prices were excellent. It appears that they have $5.00 breakfast and lunch specials every day. Oh my goodness, the desserts appear to be amazing. We had beignets which were delicious. They had several more desserts and milkshakes that we want to try. So even though we are about an hour away, we will be back at least 5 more times. We are looking forward to eating something different each visit. I especially am looking forward to trying the jumbo lump crab cakes. read more

My husband and I have been to the Grumps location in Crofton several times and have always been pleased. So, when we were in the Annapolis area and wanted to go to breakfast, we figured we would try their Annapolis location. We arrived just as they opened and we were treated immediately. The hostess gave us menus and explained we would be ordering at the register and then the food would be brought to us. This was something we were already aware of since they do the same in Crofton. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy and I ordered the banana chocolate chip pancakes. Both of us found our food to be good. The coffee is also very good! My main feedback is that the restaurant became very loud very quickly. I don't know if it's just because of the layout and shape of the restaurant, but we found it very difficult to have a conversation despite the restaurant not even being very crowded. It made the meal a little less enjoyable. Again, the food and service was absolutely fine. However, if you're looking for a place to be able to enjoy a slightly more quiet environment and actually be able to hear the person you're with, you might want to go somewhere else. read more

A friend and I stopped by Grump's on the recommendation of a local antique vendor. Excellent call! We were seated right away in a booth, and were instructed to order at the register. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet and my friend got the Banana Grumpster (banana French toast). I heard my friend moaning over her food and had to get a bite. This fun quirky restaurant is just my style. I was staying at a nearby cabin for the weekend, and the owners recommended it Perfect for breakfast with a warm and friendly staff. I highly recommend the pancakes they even offer smaller sized portions of everything! It is important to know that this is a counter seating restaurant (no table service). The unique seating and ordering system may throw off some people, but I actually really enjoyed it. Coffee is help yourself so you can pick your own mug and your own flavor of coffee. Impressed me most was the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. When the couple behind me left the restaurant, it took less than 30 seconds for the crew to clear their table and clean it for the next patron. This is definitely my new local favorite read more

Would not have written this review but had to drive to restaurant to get refund for substandard take out. Ordered steak medium rare and was overcooked and over peppered. Chicken fingers took two napkins each to get out the grease. "Manager" said could not give refund over phone and I would have to email the owner who was sleeping. I usually go to Grump's in Crofton, which is always good. Annapolis Grump's has been going down in quality for a while. Today they broke my back. I ordered a cheddar bacon cheeseburger well done with onion rings to go. Got home cut the burger in half and it was bleeding. I forgave the over cook onion rings but a bleeding burger is not good. Some of the wait staff looks like they just rolled out of bed, one was smacking chewing gum. When I called to complain, they act like I should not have and be happy with what they gave me. They act like I was attempting to scam them. Took the bleeding burger and over cook onion rings back, no apologies and the attitude was how dare you return bad food. Health Department will be getting my complaint along with pictures of the bleeding burger. If you want Grump's food go to Crofton. read more

This was a cute little diner type place near Quiet Waters Park. After a morning of kayaking we came here and enjoyed a breakfast outside. Orange crushes and coffee for drinks and benefit ya and omelettes for breakfast were all delicious. You order your food at a cashier and then give them your table number and they bring the food to you. The tables all have their own toy with a number on them. The main negative is that the front door opens directly into the restaurant, so if you're sitting at a front table, you get a blast of cold air, if you go in winter, every time it opens, which is frequently. Good spot for brunch. Decent food, friendly service, and they have outdoor dining under a big tent (very grateful for that). The food was average for brunch food- not amazing but not bad either. Decent portion size too. My breakfast platter with a big orange crush was only $12. The staff was all dressed up in Halloween costumes which was fun and they were all very kind. They even wiped down my credit card before and after swiping it. I appreciate the covid precautions they're taking! It was pouring rain so it was really nice to get tent coverage from the wind and rain and still be able to eat outside. The only complaint I have is that the woman who brought our drinks couldn't remember which hand held the mimosa and which one held the orange crush so she was like "uhh I think this is yours" (the two drinks looked identical). My roommate and I each sipped ours and then realized we needed to switch drinks. Ideally during a covid situation, we wouldnt have to taste and swap drinks. Overall, good experience. I had such high hopes for this small hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but it thoroughly disappointed. We ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with grits and the Edgewood Benedict with crispy potatoes and a side of biegnets. The chicken fried steak was a pre-made frozen patty covered in what tasted like canned gravy served lukewarm - not good at all. The grits were salty and nasty, they tasted like they were made with last nights dishwater. The Benedict had a spoonful of mushy (NOT crispy as advertised) canned corned beef hash on each of the warm English muffins topped with an undercooked poached egg and a drizzle of canned hollandaise sauce. The potatoes were decent, but how do you mess up frozen potato cubes when you drop them in hot oil. The beignets... if you want a fried yeasty pastry covered in powdered sugar, this is your treat, BUT they are NOT beignets. They are more like cut up chunks of pillsbury flakey biscuits deep fried. Good, but not the Cafe Du Monde experience- at all. Service was ok, the ordering experience is interesting. You order at the counter and they give you a number that a pajama clad hostess assigns to a table with a dirty rubber dinosaur. You pre-pay (and pre-tip) and hope your service reflects the quality you tip for.... Overall I would not recommend and won't be going back. read more
