This is my favorite diner in Annapolis. Food is excellent cheap and well portioned. It definitely feels like home in here.

My husband and I have been to the Grumps location in Crofton several times and have always been pleased. So, when we were in the Annapolis area and wanted to go to breakfast, we figured we would try their Annapolis location. We arrived just as they opened and we were treated immediately. The hostess gave us menus and explained we would be ordering at the register and then the food would be brought to us. This was something we were already aware of since they do the same in Crofton. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy and I ordered the banana chocolate chip pancakes. Both of us found our food to be good. The coffee is also very good! My main feedback is that the restaurant became very loud very quickly. I don't know if it's just because of the layout and shape of the restaurant, but we found it very difficult to have a conversation despite the restaurant not even being very crowded. It made the meal a little less enjoyable. Again, the food and service was absolutely fine. However, if you're looking for a place to be able to enjoy a slightly more quiet environment and actually be able to hear the person you're with, you might want to go somewhere else.

A friend and I stopped by Grump's on the recommendation of a local antique vendor. Excellent call! We were seated right away in a booth, and were instructed to order at the register. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet and my friend got the Banana Grumpster (banana French toast). I heard my friend moaning over her food and had to get a bite. I don't know what they put in the sauce but it is so good-like tasting your lover's kiss as you drive away. Not gonna lie, that dish is one for the books! Don't miss a trip to Grump's!

This fun quirky restaurant is just my style. I was staying at a nearby cabin for the weekend, and the owners recommended it Perfect for breakfast with a warm and friendly staff. I highly recommend the pancakes they even offer smaller sized portions of everything! It is important to know that this is a counter seating restaurant (no table service). The unique seating and ordering system may throw off some people, but I actually really enjoyed it. Coffee is help yourself so you can pick your own mug and your own flavor of coffee. Impressed me most was the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. When the couple behind me left the restaurant, it took less than 30 seconds for the crew to clear their table and clean it for the next patron. This is definitely my new local favorite

Excellent burger, we ordered the "All Jacked Up" burger and it was one of the best we've ever tasted. It was 2 pm and we just wanted a snack so my husband and I shared and the split it up in 2 plates for us. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp tasting, a must try if you're a fan. It was quite packed for mid afternoon so that says much about the restaurant. Love the 80s/90s vibe!

I usually go to Grump's in Crofton, which is always good. Annapolis Grump's has been going down in quality for a while. Today they broke my back. I ordered a cheddar bacon cheeseburger well done with onion rings to go. Got home cut the burger in half and it was bleeding. I forgave the over cook onion rings but a bleeding burger is not good. Some of the wait staff looks like they just rolled out of bed, one was smacking chewing gum. When I called to complain, they act like I should not have and be happy with what they gave me. They act like I was attempting to scam them. Took the bleeding burger and over cook onion rings back, no apologies and the attitude was how dare you return bad food. Health Department will be getting my complaint along with pictures of the bleeding burger. If you want Grump's food go to Crofton.

This was a cute little diner type place near Quiet Waters Park. After a morning of kayaking we came here and enjoyed a breakfast outside. Orange crushes and coffee for drinks and benefit ya and omelettes for breakfast were all delicious. You order your food at a cashier and then give them your table number and they bring the food to you. The tables all have their own toy with a number on them. Wry cute idea for table numbers.

Their restaurant is quaint and almost hidden. The food was ok but the Bloody Mary really brought the whole meal down for me.

We settled into our table and were welcomed by Shannon, our server. (There was a little confusion about this, but it straightened out.) The restaurant is bright and separated from the well-stocked bar. I had a Sagamore rye neat, and B ordered a glass of the Rioja. If there are oysters on the menu, you know I'll order them. There was a pretty good selection, and I opted for a half dozen Rappahanock oysters. They were excellent, sweet and briny. We each ordered a Caesar salad, but Shannon advised us that it was large enough to be shareable. More than enough. B ordered the pasta with clams, and I choose the Seafood chowder. The chowder was delicious, but B found the pasta to be too peppery for her tastes. Worse, three of the clams were unopened. We brought this to Shannon's attention, and she offered to put in a new order, but B demured, as she was full. At this point, Owner John Hogan came over to the table to chat. He told us the clams would be taken off the bill, and gave us a gift card, hoping we'd return. He stayed at our table for nearly 30 minutes, and we had a wonderfully engaging conversation with him. We will definitely be going back.

Very good with the right amount of lobster. This was all ordered online and pre-paid. Parking could be a challenge. Luckily we came on a Sunday so it was less of a crowd. That restlessness works in its favor. The space is compact, almost disarming at first. Then it settles around you. We waited for quite some time, and were seated closer to 9 pm. We were seated on the second floor which was very large and spacious. There were several large parties upstairs, and I will say our server was excellent. She was attentive, patient, and checked in regularly with us. Their menu has a great selection of seafood options, albeit more pricey. I started with seafood soup, and that was delicious. It had shrimp, thick slab of bacon cut into cubes, and scallops I believe. It was creamy, seasoned well, and a great starter. Then, I had their Caesar salad with chicken. It was a generous portion. I asked for blackened chicken, but they brought out grilled. It was fine. I just think the breadcrumbs were a bit too hard for my preference. Most of the table ordered salads, soups, and my sister in law ordered the crab sandwich. My fiancé had the salmon and he loved it. Since the portions were so large, most people took home to go boxes. What I loved about this location was how spacious and open it was. I liked that it was by the water. Definitely a nice seafood option that I'd return to again if I'm back in the area.

The Choptank in Annapolis proved exactly that. The restaurant was busy, vibrant, and full of energy. We were quoted a two hour wait, which might turn some people away, but honestly it only confirmed that we were in the right place. Instead of waiting it out completely, we put our name on the list and made a strategic move toward the bar area hoping to grab a quick opening. That decision ended up being the best call of the night. That is where we met Vanessa, also known as V, who turned out to be the true highlight of the evening. Coincidentally sharing my nickname, she immediately set the tone with a radiant smile, infectious energy, and a personality that matched the lively atmosphere of the restaurant perfectly. Her service struck that rare balance of attentive, professional, and genuinely fun. She kept the conversation going with playful banter and a little spicy personality that made the entire experience feel welcoming and memorable. The kind of bartender presence that makes you feel like you have been coming there for years. Now let us talk about the food and drinks, because they absolutely delivered. We started with the Crab n Chilling oysters and they were fantastic. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Then came the spicy sesame wings which were bold, crispy, and packed with flavor. Every bite was satisfying. The drinks were equally impressive. We ordered a French 75 and an Old Fashioned and both were crafted perfectly. Smooth, balanced, and made with care. Between the vibrant atmosphere, excellent seafood, outstanding cocktails, and Vanessa's remarkable service, the entire evening felt effortless and enjoyable. The Choptank manages to be lively without feeling chaotic, polished without feeling pretentious, and welcoming in a way that keeps people coming back. If you are in Annapolis and looking for a place with great energy, great seafood, and great drinks, The Choptank is absolutely worth the wait. And if you happen to land a seat at the bar with Vanessa, your night just got even better. Outstanding experience. We will definitely be back.
