Very very slow kitchen and inattentive server. Not worth the wait when you have to.. you know..

I didn't leave Grumpy's grumpy, but "miffed". My first visit, I went for a late lunch especially to try their country fried steak. The waitperson assured me that it was hand-battered in-house. Don't believe it! the meat tasted and had the appearance of every food service country fried steak nationwide. What a disappointment! My best compliment was that the service was very good. The Neptune Beach location is a fantastic addition to the food options at the beaches. I've had breakfast three time and lunch twice since the opening. Everything has been perfectly prepared. The service is prompt and the servers are super friendly. I'm a bar dining lover and Grumpy's offers great bar seating. There can be a wait during peak hours so be prepared but it's SO worth it. read more

Went with my dad he has seafood omelet with grits I had eggs Benedict and home fry's and honestly it sucked!! English muffin was a hockey puck difficult to saw! Hollandaise was a very small portion but the HUGE pile of home fries was a mushy mess of over seasoned potatoes nothing crispy about them. Bill with 2 breakfasts 2 coffee and a 20% tip $50. read more

I thought I could let it go but after spending $80 and a long drive home, I am annoyed. I went here when they first opened and I was so impressed by the portions, the service and food! But they have gone down hill since then. I went back probably 4 more times after a good first experience and every time I went back it would just get worse and WORSE. (as they say first impressions last) BUT today was the last straw. The service is a hit or miss but one thing they are consistent in is missing important details ...The kitchen is definitely lacking competent staff considering the poor old man next to me had hair in his food, my burger was soggy, soup was barely likewarm and my Togo order wasn't made properly. My husband and I came on Saturday morning around 7:45am and we were very disappointed to say the least. It felt like a quieter Metro Diner. Our server was nice but we hardly saw her during our 1 hour visit. My husband ordered the Green Tomato BLT and I ordered a basic 2 eggs breakfast- scrambled, hash browns and sourdough toast buttered. After about 30 minutes waiting for the food, the manager came around to all the tables apologizing as the kitchen was backed up. All the servers were just standing around and I was hoping to see ours so I could order a coffee during the wait but never saw her until food started coming out about 10 minutes later. My husband's BLT was massive, double decker packed with bacon; it was very salty and we thought it was just the bacon but figures out it was the sauce. My scrambled eggs looked like it was sitting under a hot light the entire wait, it was so hard, it felt like chewing plastic. I asked for new eggs and the server was very nice about it. I then went for the toast and there was no butter so I asked for a side of butter, I was given frozen whipped butter. The manager came by and I told him about the eggs and he said he would check on them. The server came by and noticed I still didn't get my new eggs and rushed to the kitchen to get it for me. The portion of hash browns I got was enough mush to feed a family of 4. The manager apologized and gave us 5 dollars credit to our check. Sadly, we still paid $30 for very disappointing food. We appreciated the manager's hospitality but unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back or recommend anyone going here. read more

Nice place, however, my and my friend's food was average at best. I ordered eggs benedict, and the egg was overcooked, and the English muffin was soggy. I also ordered hash browns very well done and they came out barely cooked. A lot of great options within a few blocks, might make it back for another try. read more

I had the meat lovers omelet with hash browns and it was all cooked to perfection. The service was great, keeping coffees full, and the atmosphere is a breakfast diner/restaurant. The environment was clean. I will definitely be back for breakfast. read more

We've been to the Orange Park and 210 locations and they were great. This location is also great. It did take our waitress a bit to come to our table....she profoundly apologized and after that our service was excellent as well as the food! Try them if you haven't yet!! read more

The food as usual was good, but we almost walked out due to a half full restaurant and we sat there for 20 minutes with zero acknowledgment till a super server named Sara V apologized for us being ignored and made us feel like we were regulars at the beach. The food was solid. The home fries are still my favorite. Only 4 stars cause I think someone dropped the ball from either hostesses not telling wait staff someone had been added to their section or the server not paying attention to the section. Intercom doesn't work inside. We were standing around the corner from hostess stand for 45 minutes with 3 incompetent teenagers trying to seat people. After finally asking about our position on the wait list, they stated they called our name 30 minutes ago. We were literally standing 5 feet away from hostess stand. Extremely unorganized and poor system for seating people. Will not be back. Menu looked like any other breakfast diner. Nothing special. read more

Was really looking forward to eating here. Yes-holiday wknd and yes large party. Waited over an hour outside. After being seated and ordering, waited an hour and a half for food. Burger and fries cold. 2 cold plates (burgers/fries) brought out. It took 20 MORE min for the rest of our party to get their food. Aptly named place. Come in and get grumpy. Server unconcerned and slightly rude. Owner did prove comp. But, we will not be returning. Too bad, we'd heard such great things. read more

The service is quick and very pleasant. Cheese grits aren't Southern Cheese Grits they grits with cheese sprinkled on top. They are not hot enough to melt the cheese. Lots of food options that I haven't tried but look good. I'll try again. read more

First time we went it was fabulous! This time, I wish we didn't stop. Waited 20 minutes for a coke, only to find out they were totally out of coke. Fish was good but the fries were cold. While the chef salad was huge, it was gross. Ham was fatty and the turkey did not taste right. $14 down the drain for that salad. Still trying to figure out why we tipped 20%. I had Brunch on Sun May 7, 2023 with a friend, the wait time was reasonable, the hostess was courteous and my waitress was very attentive. I have been going to Grumpy's twice a week for a couple of months. The last 2 weeks have been a disappointment. The service is TERRIBLE! Today, 5/02, there were maybe 15 people inside and a few outside. i walked in behind a couple who sat in the booth ahead of me. The server got their order and they got their meal before I had even seen a server to take my order. After 22 minutes I walked out. The Penman diner will get my business now! read more

Oops, the food was so good I forgot to get pictures of it. #eatitdonttweetit We arrived a few minutes before 10am on a Sunday morning and had ti wait about 30 minutes. They had water and coffee on hand while you wait as well as a big connect 4 to keep kids entertained. Once seated, we were waited on promptly and our server and the entire team was attentive, pleasant, and knew the menu and were not afraid to offer suggestions. The manager checked on us at the e d of our visit. For food, we started with a cinnamon roll for the table to share and it was warm, lots of cinnamon and tons of icing which was a good thing for all of our party. Definitely sweet though so would recommend sharing. For entrees my dad had the special steak omelette which was huge. It was not sandwich grade steak but a chopped NY sirloin strip and he asked for it medium and it was perfectly cooked and tender. He had the hash browns which were well seasoned and crisped to perfection. I had the fried chicken Benedict and the spicy hollandaise definitely made the dish. The eggs were perfectly poached and the mound of home fries was enough for 3 people. They could have been hotter. I'd probably ask for them crispy or well done next time to be sure they are hot. My mother had a single pancake which she could not finish and bacon and the side of bacon had to have been a half Lb at least. They have Stok cold brew taps which was unique and the fresh squeezed OJ was delicious. Hands down will be back! The restaurant was clean, light, bright, and busy, but not overly loud. Super kid friendly, my toddler loved it. I understand the hype because for us, they lived up to the reputation. read more

Had breakfast. I think the sausage patties were vegan. They were horrible ! Don't think I'll be back.
