Ended up at this restaurant by mistake (but a good mistake). We were looking for another restaurant. Good food! Ample parking (which is good for that area). I had the gyros with the "special sauce". Delicious!' French fries very tasty. The owner took care of us, as he does with all of his customers. The signs and decorations say it all. Stop by for a visit. I know I will be back,

Rise and Shine Biscuit, eggs hard scrambled, grits with cheddar cheese & 2 sausage patties
    Alysha G.

I ordered the Rise and Shine for breakfast via DoorDash. The grits were my favorite. They were made right and had just enough cheddar cheese. I'm glad I didn't have to add any extra salt or pepper. I also got eggs hard scrambled with biscuit and sausage patties. You can definitely taste the biscuit is homemade and what surprised me was that is was cut in half and toasted. I never had a biscuit like that. Honestly I'm glad it came like that because I ended up making a sandwich with the biscuit, sausage and eggs. I can say the Rise and Shine is a good pick if you want a breakfast and have some left over or if you are sharing with someone. It was a good size portion of everything.

Pressed Cuban with a side of POTATO SALAD
    Patrick R.

It's for sure pure Cuban style. Very good taste and surprisingly I ordered it without mustard and it wasn't dry as I would think it would have been. Taste 9.5/10. Now the Potato salad was like cold mash potatoes it was Shocker it slapped my tongue very good in taste and texture. Very good must say 2nd best potato salad I've ever had. 10/10. Service was very knowledgeable on what they had and was good with recommendations. Background is a little noise but nothing overwhelming, had soft music playing.

Undercooked super pink disgusting thick burgers

Greek Gyro plain no condiments. Thick Burger undercooked super pink inside both burgers. Also, they were very rude to customers both on the phone and in person. Does not take accountability for messing up order and not actually cooking the food. We spent almost $50 for our lunch just for my coworker to get called a liar about how her order was made. To my other coworker and I- burgers to be pinker than pesto bismol. We will NEVER eat this gross, undercooked food again. Especially with the rude people working there.

I was in the riverside area and decided to do a walk, since I had time I also explored thats when I ran into Barrs Street Eats. It's an all day breakfast and lunch restaurant set on the corner behind a hamburger joint. I ordered the breakfast bowl of grits, eggs, cheese and sausage because I love a breakfast bowl and I didn't have a lot of time. It's a small corner joint, an old fashioned southern restaurant with a small eat in area. Luckily I beat the crowd because they started showing up while I was eating! They seem to do a lot of takeouts and uber eats too. Did you notice the fork they gave me to eat my grits, no watered down grits here! I added salt and pepper and it was perfect. Based on the wall pics it's veteran owned too!

The walls of this restaurant are filled with interesting photos and facts

Had breakfast today at Barrs Street, classic mom and pop restaurant had the deluxe grilled cheese and a egg bacon sandwich both of which were very tasty and service outstanding, very clean bathroom, a definite place for breakfast, if the quality of food is any indication that I had, I will definitely do lunch here

    Club sandwich was awesome.

Ordered at the front counter and was greeted by a friendly young lady... good start. I went in planning to get the muffaleta off the specials board. They checked on it, but no luck... they were out of the cuts needed. I was pointed toward the Italian, but my buddy already grabbed that and I felt like being different. Noticed another special on the wall, a smoked brisket sandwich. Can't remember the exact name, but that's what I went with. Instead of chips or their homemade tots, I grabbed the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tables weren't the cleanest and were a little wobbly, but nothing deal-breaking... we made it work. Food came out pretty quick and looked solid. Flavor-wise... a little mixed. The brussel sprouts were very flaky and leafy, almost crumbled apart. You really had to work your fork to get a bite. I was picturing larger roasted halves. Sauce was fine, nothing bad, nothing special. I'd give those a 3 out of 5. The brisket sandwich was interesting. The meat was very fatty and kind of tough to chew through. Not sure if that's just the cut or the prep. I ate about three-quarters of it. It wasn't bad, just didn't hit the way I hoped. Probably still thinking about that muffaleta. Another 3 out of 5. I'd come back, no doubt... but next time I'm sticking with what they're known for. Those cheesesteaks always look great, and that's probably the move. Today was about trying something different, and I'm glad I did... even if it didn't knock my socks off.

This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings. Another good visit to Clarke Bros. Here's hoping it doesn't take us so long to get back here again for the next visit!

Yesterday was my first visit, and I ordered the Reuben sliders, the regular Reuben, a turkey slider, and the beer cheese soup. Everything was absolutely delicious! I also tried the key lime cookie, and it was so good that I had to go back today for another one. Because my first experience was so great, I returned the very next day to try something different. This time, I had the sausage and chicken gumbo, along with (yes!) another key lime cookie. The gumbo was flavorful and comforting--definitely a great choice. What truly stood out the most, though, was the service. On my first visit, my waitress--who was also managing--along with another server, were incredibly polite and courteous. Although I can't remember their names, they were both exceptional. Today, I had the best cashier/server who even brought me a sample of the gumbo before I ordered. I also met the kitchen manager, who was friendly and confident about the dish, and the general manager came out to introduce himself and was very welcoming. This place is a 10 out of 10! I will absolutely be coming back on my next visit to Jacksonville. I love this place! Kesha Bentley #MississippiGirl

There was a decent amount of parking which I was surprised about given the location. The line was to the door when we arrived. The line went pretty quickly, about 5 minutes to get our order taken. I opted for the Hurricane burger, my son opted for a basic cheeseburger with only pickle. We also ordered fries and onion rings for the table. Our food took about 15 minutes, during this time, we saw a tray of fries sitting in the window. We were hoping it was not our order as they would be cold by the time our burgers were completed, however they called us and sure enough it was ours. We touched the fries and they were very cold. We told the employee, who knew the issue and they remade the fries. I'm glad they didn't make an issue about it, but also disappointing because the employees thought it was okay to even serve cold fries. The burgers were fantastic. The hurricane had so much flavor, I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. The onion rings were good and the fries were decent. My son loved his burger and the rest of the family enjoyed their meal. It was a nice lunch and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

I was craving a good sandwich, I love a good salad, and when this place popped up on my TikTok as a recommendation, I figured, okay, let me try it. Now, TikTok hype and I don't always agree , so I honestly wasn't expecting much. But this time? TikTok did not lead me astray. I ordered Le Boeuf with a green salad, and it was REALLY good. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were satisfying, and I left full and happy--which is exactly how lunch should end. I'm definitely going back. 1/2 Drinks -- 3.5/5 Stars Ahhh, the Espresso Martini--the drink I always say is surprisingly easy to get wrong. I'm not going to say they got it wrong...but I'm also not going to say they got it completely right. It was a nice drink and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't an Espresso Martini that made me stop after the first sip and think, Oh yeah, they did that. Solid, but not quite great for me. Ambiance -- 5/5 Stars I really liked the vibe here. The music was great, the atmosphere felt welcoming, and it was just an enjoyable space to sit and have lunch. Actually, I enjoyed the atmosphere so much that even after I paid, I stayed a little longer just listening to the music and taking in the scene. Sometimes the vibe tells you when it's time to go. This one said, you can sit here a little longer. Service -- 5/5 Stars The service was SO good! There was only one server handling the room during lunch, and he was doing an amazing job of working the entire space while still making sure everyone was taken care of. He was attentive without hovering, kept things moving, and never made the room feel like it was being handled by just one person. Definitely great service. Overall -- 5/5 Stars Saleya Riviera Cafe absolutely earned five stars from me. Great food. Great service. Great music. Great vibe. This was one of those places where I went in expecting a decent lunch and walked out already knowing I'd be back. TikTok, you got this one right.
