Been going for years, busy on weekends and summer I wish they would take your full order to start instead of just drinks and have to wait for them to get back to you to order. They will not ring up and give bill with food so you have to wait again. I have walked out five times because of wait. Twice I had to leave and pay at my next visit because of long wait to pay, no cashier, your server has to ring up. A few times I also helped clean tables so people could sit and wait. Food is good, hot and consistent, i even started eating grits. They will not give in to pressure to serve avacardos or anything newer in the last hundred years. Many locals and family oriented. On a whim, I decided to take my mother to Beach Hut Cafe for a late breakfast/ early lunch. It was a weekday so I thought that it would not be too busy. I was completely wrong. The restaurant was practically at seating capacity with only a handful of tables left available. We found a table, barely big enough for four people, crammed in the front window. It was enough for her and I, however, we had my infant granddaughter with us also, in a stroller. I asked for a highchair which they did bring us, but the highchair was not quite tall enough for my granddaughter. She would've been at perfect height to gum the side of the table so I left her in her stroller which made for very cramped seating arrangements in the corner... but we did what we had to do. The menu was quite extensive, but no children's menu so that made it quite challenging to find something for my granddaughter to eat. Thank God she likes mashed potatoes! Because the restaurant was busy, it did take some time for the food to be delivered to the table. Our waitress was the sweetest 50+ year-old lady that I think I have ever met. Each time she came to the table she had a smile on her face and addressed each one of us ,including the baby. She also made numerous suggestions while I was trying to determine what the baby could eat from the menu. The day that we chose to eat at beach hut, it seemed as though their air conditioner may have been broken. It was uncomfortably warm, but like I said, the restaurant seemed to be close to capacity, as well as the temperature being near 95° outside that day. I did notice several portable fans stationed around the restaurant, which makes me think that the air conditioner wasn't working. Regardless of the uncomfortable temperature/ possible AC issue and the lack of a children's menu, I would still highly recommend the beach hut Café. It has long been a beaches favorite for breakfast even though this was my first visit! I'm glad we gave it a chance! read more

Great little diner by the beach. Stopped here with a friend after a morning run for coffee and breakfast. The service was over the top great. Super, super friendly and quick! We both got the breakfast combo, and our waitress let me substitute grits for the meat since I don't eat sausage or bacon. Pancakes were fluffy, scrambled eggs were just ok, but the homefries were the star of the show. Extra crispy. You really can't beat the price. It was very welcoming as we mosed up to the front counter and took our seats. All seats had a nook, beach bench vibes. There was no hostess so customers picked their own. It very busy place. this little café is a rare find! Everything we ordered was exceptional. Starting with the sausage gravy that was off the chain. It was meaty and tasty and peppery, and all the good things that sausage gravy should be. hubby got a country fried steak that was smothered in this gravy. Country fried steaks are usually tough, but not here. This steak was super tender and tasty. they have home fries here that are not frozen dumped out of a bag like most places. These are actual fresh potatoes that are cooked on a griddle and they are very very good. last but not least the coffee. This was above average diner coffee and I was very pleased. even though this place is slammed the service was also excellent. somehow, she waited on us and all of her other tables without missing a beat. Atmosphere is chill and laid back with friendly staff that are efficient. The home cooked food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Full restaurant on a Labor Day Sunday about 0945ish and no waiting. First off the coffee was very weak, it must be the brand or they running thru more than once! Upon walking in, we stood around unsure of what to do before deciding to seat ourselves. Be prepared to wait for your food here; it seems the kitchen might be either small or understaffed. The coffee was very weak during our visit, and the sweet tea lacked color and flavor, almost as if it wasn't steeped properly or was watered down like the coffee. I ordered the country ham with red eye gravy, grits, two eggs, and an English muffin. We waited quite a while for our food. When it arrived, the ham looked like it came from a lunch meat package--very thin with some translucent "gravy." The grits and eggs were good, but the ham was disappointing compared to other places where I've had much larger slices. My friends' food looked better. One had a chili cheese omelette, and the other had steak and eggs. We also shared an order of corned beef hash, which was excellent. The friend with the steak and eggs seemed to get the best breakfast. The place is clean and has a cozy, beachy home vibe. I have been a customer of Beach Hut for many years (20+) before I moved here in 2020 and have loved the experience. About three months ago we had to sit on the left side of the restaurant and the waitress was terrible. She never came back to ask about drinks or to check on us and others who came in later had their food. Shortly after that my son-in-law had the same experience and refused to go back. Because I loved the biscuits and gravy we kept going....until today 12/10/2024. She waited on us today and after we had been there for twenty minutes and people who arrived much later than we did had their food, she came to tell us that she forgot to put our order in. We left and now no one in the family will go back. Such a shame. read more

A local staple! That being said, it does get pretty busy. So, that says a LOT. The food is good, no frills. Ask for what you want, and they can usually make it. I went with the steak and eggs. Mmmmm. Oh! And spicy curly fries with ranch to dip? Yes, please! Service is pretty attentive, but bear with them, short on staff (because no one wants to work anymore), but the ones that do - are patient and amazing! Ask for Lisa, service with a smile, and she makes you feel right at home. If you're looking for fancy, this is not it. Picnic table seating, college sports stickers supporting teams, friendly smiles, relaxed atmosphere ... this is beach life. No judgments. Just people enjoying food and each others company. Finally got back around to coming in for a meal- my last experience was a to-go order and this time John and I dined in and it was great. They have all the standard breakfast plates and John is of firm opinion that breakfast should be simple. No fru-fru ingredient experiments. lol~ so this was perfect. The picnic table style seating, with beach art everywhere- including a fantastic mural on the Northern wall. I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast and John went with country fried steak and eggs- with his gravy on the side. He prefers to dip and not be smothered. I am the gravy addict in the house. Our server was fantastic- I wish I could remember her name- she gave us to it right away. Food came out hot- eggs were cooked fluffy scrambled- just the way we like them. My hash was crazy fried! It was flat- lol, but all the crispy outside was so good! I personally didn't care for the homefries- I scraped them onto John's plate. And the biscuit- I said to John- this is the most bready biscuit ever. I know, makes no sense. The texture was off- it looked like a biscuit, smelled like a biscuit, tasted like a biscuit- but it was more light almost cake-like consistency. It threw me off- so I drowned it in some of Johns gravy and ate it with my eggs. It still tasted good! I could easily add this to my rotating breakfast spots now. It's better than some of the other ones John likes more than me! Next time- hashbrowns instead of homefries! That should make me happy. read more

Just picked the restaurant for today as a random stop based on my daughter's suggestion. I have to say Don't go on the weekend if you are hangry or in a hurry. This is a small diner with an old fashioned feel to it. There isn't a hostess to seat you, you just wait for an open table then seat yourself. The menu is full of favorites from breakfast to early dinner, which caused a taste bud dilemma for me. Since I did come for the breakfast items that was where my focus went. I picked the #3, which is three eggs, choice of home fries or grits, choice of meat, and choice of bread; toast,biscuits, english muffin. I love the options! Impressive! My husband picked the ham and cheese omelette, hime fries, and a biscuit . We both had orange juice as the drink of choice. Now I had no problem with the wait time once I was seated, but after 20 minutes I noticed the couple who he sat down 10 minutes after we did received their food before we did and didn't order any less than us. Not cool for this girl who has just became hangry at that point , and still had to wait another 5 minutes. Now even with that rant I want to say I so enjoyed this little spot. With the foot traffic going through there so does so many others, you could tell some were frequent patrons. I didn't give a 5 star for only the reason of the bathroom. My mom has instilled in me a that if the bathroom is a mess be careful with the cook. Not that the bathroom was dirty, just needs some drywall work, some ceiling work, those types of things. In all fairness it seems the business has been there for a bit which is awesome that it has survived in these turbulent times, not to mention the beach is a couple of blocks or so over so the salt water air has to cause some kind of break down. We tried this place based on the recommendation of someone. We went around 8:00 on Saturday morning and the parking lot was full. Don't be afraid if there are a lot of cars. We only waited a few minutes and people were coming and going all the time. According to the waitress (1 of 7 working) the owners have had this place 35 years and everything is made from scratch - canned biscuits and gravy here. My friend had the basic breakfast with French toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly- which is a big part of how I judge breakfast. I had the Mexican omelette which was filled with spicy chorizo - great choice. I asked for my home fries crispy and they delivered. We tried a side biscuit and gravy which was very good. Cute little hole in the wall in JAX beach (close to the Neptune beach border). This place has that OG breakfast you're wanting and craving, made right! And during the week they have an early morning breakfast special for $5! Such a killer deal! I got the country friend steak and was very happy with my decision after going back and forth about a couple items. It was fried in a little different batter than normal, but it was to my liking! I went with the sausage gravy (they also had a white pepper gravy without the sausage and a brown gravy to choose from) . I got my eggs scrambled and cheesy... they did not disappoint! And of course I got the grits, being from the south it's a must, with cheese (as recommended by my friend). They were ok, not my favorite and did have to add a little salt, but all in all I was happy with meal. Two of my friends for the complete country breakfast -- one said it was everything they needed and the perfect size, and the other wished the pancakes would have been a little bigger, but got a side of cheesy grits to make up for it! Another friend for the bennys and cleared her plate, so no complaints there! Let's just say, the plates were clean, our bellies were full and all left with smiles and a craving to come back again! If you're going on the weekend, make sure to get there before 10 or the line can be crazy long... so be prepared. I couldn't wait to talk about this gem. Randomly stopped for brunch around 11am. It was seat yourself and we sat at the counter. It was plenty of seating areas but they definitely turned over quickly. It is the home style meal you want to experience everyday. They have breakfast lunch & dinner.
