We stopped by for an early dinner while visiting the Renaissance Faire in neighboring Tuxedo Park. This was my first time in Warwick, and was surprised how nice this village was. With nothing to go on other than Yelp, we decided on G's, and I'm glad we did. Based on some of the earlier reviews, I was expecting your typical diner. It may be or have been at some point, but clearly the decor and menu seem to suggest that the place aims to be more. With a large, spacious seating area with high ceilings, wrap-around windows and dark wood trimwork, definitely feels more upscale. The menu is large and dishes vary from simple diner food to fine dining, with no tacky Greek diner menu-feel. I ordered from the Specials menu, a stuffed veal chop that sounds good. The prices were all very reasonable, so I expected diner-quality food. But I was pleasantly surprised! The veal chop was huge, perfectly cooked and seasoned, nicely presented (see picture I uploaded). Even the stuffing was good, with pine nuts and raisins, a nice touch. Good at any price, amazing at $16! My wife wasn't hungry so she ordered the mesclun salad. It was also huge, and seemed to be fresh with lots of ingredients. You can order beers on tap. Very nice! Definitely not your average diner, but it makes perfect sense, with a full bar downstairs (says "Bank Street Tavern" out back, but it's one establishment with G's). Also look for Asian special dishes. My wife noticed one on the menu. It may be odd, but not when you realize that G's is owned by a Korean family! Wish I had tried it. Maybe next time. We've had Greek diners, why not a Korean diner? More please! I briefly checked out the bar downstairs. Very nice and unexpected! The stone walls are the original foundation, not some faux stone veneers, and it gives the bar area a cave/cellar feel, but tastefully updated to make it a cozy place. With live music, I can see why this would be the local nighttime hot spot. I've had much worse at restaurants that are supposed to be "fine dining" for twice the cost and pretentiousness, and I'm pretty sure you will not be disappointed at the quality and price. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner! I had the Filet Mignon with veggies and mashed potatoes, my husband had the chicken - I meant to take a picture but oops, it was gone before I remembered. We followed with great desserts - carrot cake - moist and delicious and coconut cake - light and tasty. I must say though, it was very disappointing to see the wait staff be spoken down to by customers. These are trying times. Many restaurants have limited menus, Gs at this time does as well, but that doesn't take away from a good meal. Customers need to understand that if what you usually are able to get is not currently available- that is not - let me repeat that - that is NOT the waitress' fault. Yelp needs to allow a ZERO STARS option! Where do I begin? My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night, the place was empty (now I see why). Upon arriving we were greeted by a woman who was on her cell phon barely paying attention. Someone sat us down and our server took a while to come to the table (we were the only table in the entire restaurant). After placing an order for milkshakes that took our server about 15minutes we waited for our food to come out. We only ordered this soup and a crab cake appetizer. While eating this watery, non flavored soup I noticed black spots floating around. I thought it was seasoning so I .... kept eating..... as I went to blow on the soup I again noticed another black spot. Come to find out what I thought was pepper/seasoning was actually a bug with huge antennas!! Kill me.. I don't even want to know how many I ate *gags* .. after informing the server, she apologized and asked if I wanted something else. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager asked me if it just flew into the soup by itself & started looking at the ceiling.. I told her no it was underneath the bread! She said "sorry do you want something else" I told her of course not I don't even want to know how dirty your kitchen is. She rolled her eyes and dropped the bill off. Now, we weren't looking for a free meal I mean the milkshakes cost us less than $20 however when you own a business and you serve bugs as a topping for your food you should definitely be more apologetic and concerned for the customers satisfaction after such disappointment and disgust. Also, our server never came back to our table, she had someone else drop off the bill. Unfortunately due to me being a server for a long period of my life she still received a 20% tip but word of advice, always make sure your table leaves somewhat happy. We understood she didn't cook the food, your job however is to make amends after.. I mean we do tip you, not the kitchen staff. My stomach hurt the entire night. The WORST restaurant in orange county.... We should have know the only empty restaurant in warwick during apple picking season. We were greated sharply and made to sit down. They didn't not have the "G's chicken strips" or two other menu items. Our waitress was horrible ... She took the drink order returned 4 mins later and asked (while we were still looking at the menus) "What do you want" we asked for a few more mins. Poof gone for 15 mins chatting it up with the rest of the staff. We were never asked for refills on our drink or water. Which we needed because the food was horrible. Want a burger go to burgerking down the road ( much better and the staff is nicer). Everything seem to come out of the freezer. Please just don't go here. The woman owner has a terrible attitude. She always has but I tried to look beyond it. We've been giving them business for years now because we enjoyed a few things on the menu, but never again. She was plain nasty and rude recently. I'd rather take my business where the customers are appreciated and treated kindly. There are plenty of other restaurants in Warwick that are good and deserving of our money. From what I can see of other reviews, there are lots of other people who agree with me. I went for breakfast with my daughters. The waiter was very nice & attentive. I ordered corned beef hash with my meal but did not care for it. So I returned it & did not order anything else to substitute it. The waiter took my whole meal off the bill, which I did not expect. My plan was to ask how much the meal would have been to make sure to tip the waiter the extra amount. When I got to the register the woman said "he wasn't supposed to do that". She then proceeded to add my meal back on just without the corned beef and printed a new receipt. I have no problem paying for what I ate, I just thought that was very poor business after the waiter removed the meal. read more

Had a delicious burger during my second visit. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger cooked medium. It was juicy and the bacon was nice and crispy just the way I like it! I was so happy during my second visit because my first visit was mediocre. The grilled sandwich had no flavor but it did the trick of taking my hunger away and my husbands burger was well done even though he asked for medium. Since my husband is not one to complain or send back food he ate it. Food came out super fast and service was good. Bathroom was clean and I even noticed the changing table was clean. I have an infant so that's very important to me. Would definitely visit next time I'm in town. I didn't get to taste them but they had a nice showcase of delicious looking desserts. The bartender down stairs on thanksgiving eve was one of the most unpleasant people I've ever encountered. Maybe it's because we weren't wearing a flannel and boots? Lunch time in Warwick during peak apple picking is BANANAS! You can expect to walk from restaurant to restaurant, trying to find a spot without a 40 minute wait. G's Restaurant has awesome staff. They're very nice, friendly, and apologetic. Unfortunately, it ends there. The food isn't much different than what you might expect from a grab and go deli. Though the hostess can get you a seat within 10-15 minutes, you will still wait up to 40 for a basic burger and panini sandwich. It's pretty clear the kitchen couldn't keep up with the seating demand. Considering the craziness of the town during apple picking season, it's possible I could end up back here again. The food was decent and reasonably-priced, but the service was lacking. We visited at about 10am on Sunday morning, having chosen G's because of Yelp reviews. They must be understaffed because though they had many vacant tables, a long line formed in the middle of our meal and they were not quick to seat the influx of patrons. I ordered the bruschetta wrap, one friend ordered the bruschetta omelette, one ordered a spinach omelet, and another ordered the steak and eggs meal. My wrap was reasonably-sized, the mozzarella was gooey and plentiful, but other than that, it was not spectacular in terms of flavor. I wish there had been some sort of sauce. Our home fries were a bit undercooked. Our waitress visited only very, very sporadically which frustrated my coffee-dependent friends, as they were not offered refills until nearly the end of our meal. G's has been a staple in Warwick for many many years. When I was in high school I used to come here all the time (it didn't hurt that my friends dad used to own it and all my friends used to work there). Now that I am older, I really only come here for breakfast once in a blue moon. I guess it is because it reminds me too much of diner (and I really don't like diners). The food is decent - again more like diner food. The one cool thing about G's is that it is a restaurant on top and a bar downstairs. Drinks at the bar are always good. They are decently prices and always are just strong enough. Also, so spice things up - they have local bands come play on the weekend. It's a pretty decent time. read more

My fiancé and I went here on Saturday based on the Yelp reviews. The reviews were spot on! We went to the bar and enjoyed good drinks (although John thought the beer selection was average), followed by REALLY good food. SURPRISINGLY good food. John had the steak au poive, still mooing, and was blown away. The waitress was friendly, attentive, and had some drink suggestions that we didn't take but appreciated nonetheless. I had the meatloaf special with the mac and cheese, and I've been dreaming about the mac and cheese ever since! I was so impressed that I brought my daughter back the next day. We sat upstairs in the dining area, and I ordered a Greek platter that someone had recommended the night before. By the way, the person who recommended it worked at another restaurant in the area but went to G's all the time to eat! If that doesn't say something... The Greek platter had a LOT of food, and it was all fresh and delicious (although I'm not quite sure why Jersey tomatoes are not making their way into restaurants). The only reason G's didn't make five stars is because I ordered the pecan pie for dessert. I guess I was greedy for an overall amazing dining experience, but the pie fell short, soggy on the bottom :( So sad. Oh, and the music on Satuday night was WAY to loud to enjoy! read more

We were looking for a casual but decent restaurant after a fun day at Pennings apple & pumpkin picking. We drove into the heart of Warwick and after checking out a few places decided on G's because it seemed to be exactly what we were looking for. We decided on an the nachos with chicken and beef for an appetizer. The menu stated there was cheese on them, but all we saw were minuscule amounts of a Cheez Whiz concoction. Extremely disappointing. For dinner my husband had a steak that was to his liking but given mashed potatoes instead of the baked potato he had requested and the baked was never brought out to him even after the waiter was told of the error. The kids meals were decent. Both of mine had the Mac and cheese and that was pretty good. I got the mesclun salad with chicken, that came without chicken. They did get my dressing change correct though. Would've preferred the nuts but sliced instead of whole, but the salad was decent minus the missing chicken. The worst was the service. When we wanted a refill I had to ask the nice busboy. I had to walk up to the hostess stand to get to go containers for our leftovers and our check because he ignored my actual waves after we were waiting for so long. When we finally got the check we waited another 10 minutes before my husband finally got the kids out and I waited another 5 minutes at the hostess stand to pay. I honestly felt like walking out. Next year we will hopefully find a better restaurant in Warwick. read more

We sat down for Sunday Brunch and awaited the waitress. Nothing doing for ten minutes. Then one walks by and before we could put our coffee order in she says "I will get the waitress." Then five minutes go by and the Maitre D comes over and asks "Has your waitress come?" Before we could answer she says "I will go get her". After another five minutes, we threw in the towel and left -- no one made an effort to stop us. Clearly the problem lies with management as the service personnel act like middle managers afraid to lose their jobs. This place is awful! The people on the phone were so impolite and got our order wrong, and the only way we knew was because we made them read it over. We corrected them and they said it was all good, and then we picked up our food. They completely forgot to give us a salad and a drink, as well as not giving a burger lettuce and tomato after we specifically requested it. G's is Warwick's favorite neighborhood get together. People can relax and have lots of great meal choices. The meals all range in price and indulgence. The food there is great and moderate in price(depending on what you get). Also you don't have to travel for hours to get there. If you live in warwick (like me) then G's will always be a fine dining cuisine for family,friends,kids, the whole bunch. The waiters and servers are extremely nice and the food is just magnificent. Outdoor seating is also available, but only in nice weather (wouldn't want to eat in the rain would ya?) G's is a stable foundation and it will be around to satisfy customers for ages. read more

I give this place an A+++, A for ABYSSMAL! Starting with the clearly unhappy, surly Asian woman who "greeted" us, to the single menu for 4 people, to the lousy wait staff and finally to the ridiculously bad food. I could go on and on. Making good chili is remarkably simple. Dumping canned tomato sauce on ground beef and calling it chili is cynical and arrogant. My reaction to everything that came out of the kitchen was "they weren't even trying". My suggestion is to bulldoze this place and salt the earth so that nothing will ever grow there again. read more

In the 6 years i've lived in Warwick I can honestly say that G's has been on a steady decline. The food quality is inconsistent, sometimes it is very good and other times it isn't. We use to go at least once a week because it was great, but now only go occasionally because it's good enough. I also think the hostess/ owner could be a little warmer. Service was great. Waitress made sure that our glasses were full. Checked up on us to make we were enjoying our food. Bus boy was happy to assist when I asked for a to go container. Cashier was available to pay my bill. The food was amazing. My fiance had the Cajun burger, best burger his ever had. And he's eaten a lot of burgers in his lifetime. Calamari was crispy, the calamari sauce was robust and flavorful. The appetizer sampler: Mozzarella sticks were thick and cheesy. Wings were okay. It tastes like Texas Pete? I prefer Frank's. A nice hometown family restaurant, similar to diner food but definitely tastes much better then any diner in the area and you don't have to travel far! The servers can get a bit flustered when the place is busy but they usually make up for it by being extra friendly! When I'm visiting my family I usually will meet some friends here to catch up. I am new to Warwick and I was searching for a place to get a good, not- too- expensive lunch, and G's was perfect. I ordered from their fairly extensive lunch menu, but I guess they also serve breakfast all day long. I chose from their "grilled chicken sandwich" section: the philly sandwich with grilled onions and mushrooms. I am VERY particular about grilled chicken AND bread, and I was very pleased with my sandwich. The food came out really fast and was delish. I am not big on fries (you can order a side salad for an extra dollar) but their fries were really good, hot and crispy. The food is decent but nothing special. Prices are good but really there are other places here in town that are the same price point. And let's please note their food is just NOT consistent. I ordered the Texas French Toast it wasn't Texas bread, I find these missteps insulting my intelligence. It is beyond me why I keep giving this place another chance. G's is a Warwick staple. It used to be the best off beat diner in town. The new ownership has done some great things: renovations and keeping the menu the same. However they do lack in customer service compared to the previous owners. I've been going to G's since I was a little kid and have always loved it. They have the best French onion soup I've ever had and the Turkey panini is something I have to get every time I visit.
